Victoria’s Secret ‘Karen’

I came across this today and I am in awe at this lady who tried to attack a black woman thrice but upon realising she was being filmed put on the display of her life.

While it is funny, it is no laughing matter as black people have been killed for less. Even while she’s clearly being the aggressor, people are telling the black woman to stop filming and move away from her including the mall security and police.

I saw just saw this myself. It's ridiculous that they can get away with carrying on like that. That woman literally attacked the black woman and then had the nerve to start carrying on like she was being wronged. I mean. She was screeching, on the floor convulsing, and pretended to pass out with her head perfectly on her purse. Hmm And she has the nerve to chase the woman she attacked around the store while screaming at her to get away. It's like the people who defended Cooper and said she was scared because man~ but she went charging right up to him. Pulling out the tears when a woman of color calls them on their shit so they become the victim is such a cliché. I wish I was surprised the police and management did nothing.

anewdispensation · 20/07/2021 22:47

It’s the weaponising of the tears every single time. Like why can’t you ever own your fuck up? What is it with people like this that make them unable to accept being held accountable for their actions? I was embarrassed for her😡

So cringe

Wow
Just watched the videos.
Absolutely disgusting.

The only safe thing is to always have your phone charged and ready to record if needed, because without the video I doubt anyone would have believed what had actually happened.

The behaviour of the Whote woman was absolutely shocking, - and pretending to faint???!!!

Avaynia · 20/07/2021 22:52

Exactly! I can't stand it and they know exactly what they're doing. They're just entitled and used to the world catering to them and their wants. And sure enough, everyone around her validated that by not reacting to her behavior. You know if the black woman was acting like that she'd have been manhandled out the door, at the very least, if not shot or beaten first.

anewdispensation · 20/07/2021 23:03

@Avaynia plus they would have said the black woman was on drugs. Imagine a black woman causing such a disgusting scene, pretending to faint and frothing at the mouth and being aggressive to a white woman! She would be toast

OP posts:
HmmmmmmInteresting · 20/07/2021 23:08

Urrrggh, I'm not going to watch the video because I'm angry with these people enough

anewdispensation · 20/07/2021 23:10

I get it @HmmmmmmInteresting as this shit seriously is exhausting. The day after the football final, I deleted my Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram apps. I just had to protect my mental health.

This one though while ridiculous is so funny in its audacity. It is truly something

So much histrionic crap these days.

1Saymynamesaymyname · 27/07/2021 18:05

I think this is what has always happened. Only we're/others are recording it now. And calling it out.

Pre mobile, if you didn't have your 200Ib camcorder, strapped around your neck, to record this shit, it didn't get recorded, therefore, it didn't happen.

Mind you, even now, with evidence, folk are still disbelieving Confused.

There's the usual "We need to see what happened before you started recording", which really means "You caused it". Grin

NurseButtercup · 27/07/2021 21:44

Thank God most of us now have a functioning smartphone.

There's another clip circling on social media of a police officer, who stopped a black man for a traffic violation, blatantly planting drugs on the back seat of a black man's car. Fortunately, the black man, the driver of the car, was recording the police officer.....the behaviour is sickening.

Somebody wrote that black people are only feeling a sense of justice thanks to social media, I wholeheartedly agree.

Handyangy · 28/07/2021 08:53

The worstvthing is peoplenbeing angry at the Black woman for recording it and showing someone with "mental health issues in a vulnerable state"

  1. No comment on the mental health issues angle because it boils my piss when people try to frame bad manipulative behaviour as such
  2. Why aren't Black women afforded such mental leaps in sympathy, empathy and understanding. Had that women been Black joone would have cared about potential mental health issues, her having a bad day, she would have been pinned to the floor and violently arrested accused of being on drugs and posing a danger 4o the innocent shoppers
RedMarauder · 28/07/2021 14:07

Why aren't Black women afforded such mental leaps in sympathy, empathy and understanding.

Because we aren't people let alone women.

SupermanWithTheGreyHair · 28/07/2021 14:32

You’ve got to love how the white woman was literally chasing after the black woman whilst saying ‘get away from me’...Hmm The black woman was literally trying to get away from her!

And the faux fainting. 🤣

Shocking attitude from other customers and security. 🤬 Just disgusting.

On a lighter note, I hope this woman got her free knickers ! 🤣 The store should have given her a weeks supply of free knickers as an apology for not dealing with this situation in an appropriate way and getting the fainting, screaming woman off the premises.

Branleuse · 29/07/2021 12:06

i dont even get what happened? She just randomly went to attack the other woman?

AnnunciataZ · 29/07/2021 18:09

Yet outside of this board, on MN all they care about is the term "Karen" rather than the behaviour of these entitled white women.

midgemagneto · 29/07/2021 18:28

Since the term Karen is agist and misogynistic you would think people who suffer racism snd, probably also ageism and misogyny, would understand why the term is problematic

And yes it does distract from real problems

Wroxie · 29/07/2021 20:46

So I've just been told about this section through a lovely PM - thanks, lovely PM friend!

Anyone seen this thread - www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/4307349-To-think-the-name-Karen-is-only-considered-misogynistic-because-it-refers-to-white-women?pg=25

I've tried to explain some basic racism 101 topics just because I'm a glutton for punishment, I guess, and because as a Black American in the UK I feel like I can offer some perspective on a term and a concept that's crossed the pond... let's just say I've not really found my audience Grin and now some heifer has popped up to accuse me of not being a woman and calling me a fantasist for explaining the history that has let up to the current racist Karen stereotype.

I guess I really should Stop Talking to White People About Race.

EchoNan · 29/07/2021 21:36

@Wroxie Welcome to BMN.
You are a star on that thread.Flowers
I think the woman in the video here and her friends are on that thread.
Perhaps they are after free knickers?

They aren't there to learn, just there to dog whistle. Good people can see them for what they are.

I don't use that term, never have, there are Black people with that name too.

Wroxie · 29/07/2021 21:50

I think I mentioned it on the thread but my Dashiki-wearing Black-History-university-lecturer mother was named Karen Grin

Handyangy · 29/07/2021 22:13

That thread is a mindfuck

EchoNan · 29/07/2021 22:21
Grin
EchoNan · 29/07/2021 22:28

@Handyangy

That thread is a mindfuck
Isn't it? I'm convinced it's well organised, and they know how to play the rules. Genuine people can see who they are. There's constantly a goady racist thread on there, the RNLI lifeboat one being another. Total respect to you Wroxie I got deleted on there within five minutes of landing on the thread. Not good for my BP. I'm in my house. I'm fussy about who I let into my living room, even virtually.

EchoNan · 29/07/2021 22:39

Ah, someone's dropped in to placemark!
Why would that be I wonder?

SupermanWithTheGreyHair · 29/07/2021 23:06

Ah, someone's dropped in to placemark!
Why would that be I wonder?

🤔

The Karen thread. Mumsnet seriously needs to permanently delete these racist arseholes who stay just about in the guidelines, it’s very easy to see what’s actually being said.

I haven’t seen the RNLI one I don’t think, but I did see some of the comments on twitter so I can imagine.

I’m white. I can only imagine how black people feel about all this. I agree that @Wroxie was bloody amazing on that other thread...I just don’t think you can ever really argue with their ignorant, racist mentality, they don’t want to listen and learn ....but they do want you to shut up...so please don’t.
