Victoria’s Secret ‘Karen’

I came across this today and I am in awe at this lady who tried to attack a black woman thrice but upon realising she was being filmed put on the display of her life.

While it is funny, it is no laughing matter as black people have been killed for less. Even while she’s clearly being the aggressor, people are telling the black woman to stop filming and move away from her including the mall security and police.

@SupermanWithTheGreyHair
Hi to you! I recognise your name from challenging stuff on MNSmile

The RNLI has now been deleted. Lifeboat volunteers getting abuse on social media for rescues in the Channel. Some vile responses dressed up as "telling it like it is".
Very many articulate and well informed challenges though, it's important to recognise that.

EchoNan · 30/07/2021 09:05

Back to the videos of the attacker.

What an Oscar winnng performance of fakeness.

I'm so glad that the videos of that dreadful Abigail pretending to be the victim made the media, including US TV, and thousands of people have seen her trying to cause trouble for an innocent black woman.

(Placemarking person, watch those videos, don't waste that placemark!!!)

TawnyPipit · 30/07/2021 09:23

I don't understand why MNHQ are letting you use this ageist and misogynistic word. Yes, I know its origins but it's offensive to women whether they're named Karen or not.

doadeer · 30/07/2021 09:25

The faux faint but she manages to position get bag to cushion her head 🤨

doadeer · 30/07/2021 09:27

Her bag*

Ah the placemarker has landed. Here to play goady fuckers?

The OP has put the word "Karen" in inverted commas.
The abusive white woman is called Abigail.

"Karen" as usedin the OP title is a quote directly from the newspaper and media.
It's not banned in discussions in this context. So HTH.

This is the Black Mumsnet board, where people who land to deliberately miss the point, don't have their ego massaged.

Don't be an "Abigail" TawnyPipit . However, you are welcome to press "report" and call security.

Have a lovely day.

EchoNan · 30/07/2021 10:07

The US news report.
Don't be an Abigail.

Try reading the thread Tawny
You are inventing stuff now to suit your own mindset.

EchoNan · 30/07/2021 10:17

As you'll see up thread, if you can read that far, I've actually said that I don't like the term myself.

However, you most certainly are performing to the Abigail stereotype.
And your covert racism is showing....

EchoNan · 30/07/2021 10:20
Abigail
Kanaloa · 30/07/2021 10:22

I know it’s genuinely not funny but I couldn’t help laughing at the absurdity - who on earth behaves this way!

She’s not a Karen as such though, just a general dick. Hopefully those who know her will shame/ostracise her, but I’m afraid there are probably those who don’t find her behaviour abhorrent.

TawnyPipit · 30/07/2021 10:29

However, you most certainly are performing to the Abigail stereotype. And your covert racism is showing....

You ought not to be so quick to accuse people of racism, covert or not. We're a mixed race family.

Abigail stereotype? Because I'm calling out the use of a woman's name? Don't be daft.

RedMarauder · 30/07/2021 10:38

Whose "we"?

Wroxie · 30/07/2021 10:40

This is the first time I've been in Black Mumsnetters, is it normal for women like Tawny to pop in to tell us what to do and how we should act? Is there not a Black moderator at least for this topic to keep that kind of shit under control?

TawnyPipit · 30/07/2021 10:42

Whose "we"?

Me, DH, DD.

Is there not a Black moderator at least for this topic to keep that kind of shit under control?

Why do you need a black mod to keep a woman under control?

Wroxie · 30/07/2021 10:43

@TawnyPipit to be very clear, I don't care if you're sitting at your breakfast table this very moment with your Black husband and your mixed-race children and their Black granny- knowing non-white people doesn't excuse you from racism. You're exhibiting racist behaviour by entering a space for Black women and telling us how you think we should act or what language we use. I'm asking you nicely to go away.

TawnyPipit · 30/07/2021 10:49

I'm not exhibiting racist behaviour in any form. This came up in Active convos and I was dismayed that you're feeding into the stereotype. You don't get a pass to do that on a public forum.

There's a thread started by a woman who changed her name from Karen and she linked to all the vile memes about her name. And they really were vile. You don't get the right to insult women that way.

Branleuse · 30/07/2021 10:49

it seems like the black woman had been browsing the underwear selection and then the white woman had come up and browsing super close, so the black woman asked her to back up and give some space, which is what sent the white woman into some weird rage and do all this crap. Its incredible. Im sorry I feel like im gatecrashing as im only here as i saw it in active conversations and didnt realise the board when i first posted, but does this sort of shit happen in the UK too, or is this sort of conflict a violently american phenomenon?

RedMarauder · 30/07/2021 10:50

@Wroxie yes it is normal for squatters to invade BMN threads.

Some of them are clearly trolls who invade from else where on the internet.

Others are just entitled individuals who don't understand when a space isn't for them so their views on topics are both not wanted and irrelevant.

(Interestingly I'm listening to the radio when they are talking about how to frame the conversation on the police being racist.)

EchoNan · 30/07/2021 10:51

Not heard that one before Tawny.
RedMarauder · 30/07/2021 10:51

@Branleuse this will be relevant for you - www.theguardian.com/world/2017/may/30/why-im-no-longer-talking-to-white-people-about-race

There is a book of the same name linked to at the end.

Wroxie · 30/07/2021 10:55

@TawnyPipit Again, why are you here? You don't get to tell me shit about what I am allowed to do or not allowed to do. This is a space for Black women. No one invited you. No one asked your opinion. Why can't we have one fucking thing of our own? Why is that so hard for you? You are absolutely expressing entitled, racist behaviour and you need to have a word with yourself. That's the last thing I'll say to you (other than - if you pop back up to say "ACTUALLY I'm not white", I pre-emptively absolutely do not believe you so you can save that one, sis).

EchoNan · 30/07/2021 10:57

Wroxie Not all moderators are white. They do listen and are aware of this thread and what is going on here.

I see you've brought your fan club with you Grin

I hate the term Karen but I hate how the term seems to be the main concern of those on Mumsnet rather than the issues faced by recipients of the behaviour described. It is like you only care because it impacts white women.

What comments do you have about the actual story and what happens repeatedly to black people?
