I'll start by stating I couldn't give two shits about two people I don't know.

However, I am finding so much humour in the 'non racist' vitriol from people that don't know them, and who seemingly don't care, yet can't get them out of their mouths!

I can't wait for this Oprah interview (that I might not even bother to watch) because I'll find the obsessive thread after thread on this absolutely hilarious.

To start us who have had a lifetime of this shit off, I thought I'd add to the frothing with this gem!

Kelechi, Shola and Gina were so on point and so unapologetically Black!

I'm hoping we can congrats here for our own analysis later!

@debbrianna I'm in the UK. I've seen Gina do bits in America explaining British racism but not to UK broadcasters.

Nnovember · 08/03/2021 22:09

@HmmmmmmInteresting specifically "how dark" kmt, not the same thing at all as accent or personalities. It's straight up racism"

HmmmmmmInteresting · 08/03/2021 22:11

I always assumed that racism was more prominent in the USA than it was here.

That's a myth

gottakeeponmovin · 08/03/2021 22:16

I think she is putting too much of a spin on it to make me believe she is genuine. For example it's well publicised that Charles is reducing the royal family. As such when asked why he may not be a prince she could say well it could be this ... but regardless I don't agree. The point about the row with Kate was a protocol thing about tights. The public know it but she glossed over it. The wedding vows ... they probably wanted a private moment but she implies it was an actual wedding. The point about removal of security - if you aren't a member of the royal family you don't get it. I am sure there were a lot of issues but they are not being completely honest. It's very one sided. And of course they know the royals can't respond

DeeCeeCherry · 08/03/2021 22:19

HmmmmmmInteresting

That Scottish MSP clip is gold😁

I wonder if future generations will put up with a monarchy that drains money from the UK, harbours such an obnoxious Prince as Andrew, is racist, and completely out of touch?

The Royal Family are uneccessary and I just don't believe they are as big a 'tourist draw' as is said. France has more tourists, doesn't it?

Archaic, outdated institution. I'm glad that dumb empirical mindsets here are going to realise they and their tarnished Royal Family are really not as important to this world as they believe they are

teentipans · 08/03/2021 22:20

I thought the point was the narrative that M made K cry was wrong?

gottakeeponmovin · 08/03/2021 22:24

I agree but the row was over Meghan not following protocol. Meghan probably cried because she was incredibly stressed. But she didn't try to explain it - just left it hanging that Kate made her cry. It's manipulative

FFS they found it. This is BMN, please go back to the main board and stop derailing our thread.

@DeeCeeCherry Prince Andrew will be dead but the person who made asked how dark their baby's skin colour could be, may not be....

We're not interested in Meghan-bashing on this thread. Go to the frother threads on the rest of the site.
Porcupineintherough · 08/03/2021 22:27

She didnt leave it hanging. She said Kate apologised for upsetting her and she accepted the apology.

I wasn't thinking about that comment but yeah, true. But they may no longer be Royalty either

This is black Mumsnetters. We're not interested in your apologist crap on here. See ya!

I am in the UK too. But she does feature a lot online in the UK. Her fb is full of brits. I think the three of them together on sky news was very powerful yet relaxed. They had no fear and the suport for each other was great. I don't think they just brought her out becuase they felt like no-one could do it. They brought her out because she has been consistent. She knows what it feels like to be rejected by the British media. It's not a coincidence tge three were on sky news and not the BBC..

grapefruitish · 08/03/2021 22:31

@HmmmmmmInteresting

I'm part of a mixed race couple and we definitely did discuss this. Same as hair type, nose shape & eye colour. Same with my first child who is not mixed race. We also discussed which elements of our family members personalities might come through and which accent they may adopt.

If you really are part of a mixed race family you should know the difference between 'concerns were raised' about the colour of the baby's skin and innocently trying to imagine what your baby will look like.

I was answering to the Piers Morgan quote only. I would have thought Harry should have severely dealt with this conversation at the time. I hope he did.

“I always assumed that racism was more prominent in the USA than it was here”

As a white southern American who hear people say stuffs in secret, British may be far, far less racist than Americans. But when it comes to their newspaper, don’t know. They wouldn’t dare use animals as an insult.

@skodadoda Does this Sarah Campbell woman, whoever she is, live in the palace and know firsthand? If not, this random woman knows NOTHING about Meghan and Harry's actual experiences.

@Debbrianna I don't use FB. I see her on other platforms. It's obvious why she like many black comedians and actors went off to America.

I hope so too. I've never really cared about the royal family but I want to burn the institution to the ground now Grin

I think it should end when the queen dies. They should do what the French did. You're right, they don't have a tourism problem!

RedMarauder · 08/03/2021 22:40

@DeeCeeCherry it's white fragility in action.

(They will probably complain and ask for this post to be deleted. As they don't understand this is BMN and the discussion is focused on racism.)

Benelovencd · 08/03/2021 22:41

Yeah @DeeCeeCherry and they so persistent. FFS, I don't need to pick through the microagressions and overt racism while actually trying to engage in a conversation with other Black women. Then they cry victim- its fucking exhausting. I don't understand the need to constantly insert yourself where your voice or opinion is clearly not wanted. Can we just exist as Black women - and no that is not an invitation for you as a non-Black woman to try and "educate" me on how the Internet works
