I'll start by stating I couldn't give two shits about two people I don't know.

However, I am finding so much humour in the 'non racist' vitriol from people that don't know them, and who seemingly don't care, yet can't get them out of their mouths!

I can't wait for this Oprah interview (that I might not even bother to watch) because I'll find the obsessive thread after thread on this absolutely hilarious.

To start us who have had a lifetime of this shit off, I thought I'd add to the frothing with this gem!

Kelechi, Shola and Gina were so on point and so unapologetically Black!

I'm hoping we can congrats here for our own analysis later!

And why oh why is the criticism always aimed at her as if he’s he’s such malleable man child with no mind of his own?!

Ohhh this pisses me off
I've got into a RL argument about this just the past few days - "she took him away from his family, she planned it all along"
Me - he's a grown man, why is it her taking him away from his family?
Maybe he just wants to protect his family from the same fate his mother suffered?!
No, that's Meghan's fault too apparently Confused Hmm

teentipans · 08/03/2021 23:18

I agree but the row was over Meghan not following protocol. Meghan probably cried because she was incredibly stressed. But she didn't try to explain it - just left it hanging that Kate made her cry. It's manipulative

Fuck this just annoys me, the twisting in knots. Where is the objectivity?

The point of the whole thing is that the story was untrue. M herself said it was fine & likely wedding stress.

Originally M made K cry = bad M
actually it was K who made M cry = well M is overreacting, why is she bringing it up, if K did make her cry, it was her fault.

Can you not see how stupid you look?

Yes, the double standards on this point are appalling.

BelleHathor · 08/03/2021 23:21

I'm old enough to remember Harry naked in Vegas with strippers and falling out of nightclubs in Kensington. They act as if Meghan was this enchanting "exotic" temptress who lured the virginal Harry away.....

I get the impression he’s being painted as a bit dim/under the thumb deliberately as the alternative is people who don’t want to admit to themselves that he is a decent person.

It’s a bit like if she floats she’s a witch, if she drowns she’s not!

She can’t win either way

minou123 · 08/03/2021 23:29

Sorry to join in, but im loving this thread.

What really boils my piss, is the thread after thread, post after post of mumsnetters now saying "there are two sides to every story".

Yet for years, everytime the Mail, Express or any shitty press said "Oh, Meghan did this, or Meghan did that", it was taken as gospel truth. The whole "two sides to every story" didn't exist.

And I have found and seen this happen to black women.
When someone makes an accusation against a black woman, it is immediately regarded as the truth.
Yet, when a black woman makes an accusation about someone else, then suddenly all sides to the story must be heard, analysed and evidence brought.

I'm not black, so haven't experienced this myself, but I have seen it.

DeeCeeCherry · 08/03/2021 23:29

And why oh why is the criticism always aimed at her as if he’s he’s such malleable man child with no mind of his own?!

They sound exactly like the sexist type men they scorn, yet don't see they are perfectly aligned with:

'It's not the man's fault he wasn't to know was he, it's the woman's fault for tempting a man'

In 2021, on International Women's Day at that, this is how some women view the world.

No doubt in the next breath and without a shred of irony, they'll give forth on equality and the erosion of women's rights.

Voice0fReason · 08/03/2021 23:31

I felt like I was in a parallel universe reading those other threads.
Of course the concerns about his skin colour were racist! The minimising and excusing going on by some is willfully blind.
Everything I watched sounded sincere and real. The press were hideous to her and they still are.
I admire the pair of them.

BelleHathor · 08/03/2021 23:32

Oh and apart from selling M&H to the press in exchange for not printing stories about Prince Andrew/Epstein and William's extra marital activities the real reason was jealousy. Meghan simply outshines all of them like in this video (as usual Black woman has to dim her light so as not to intimidate)

Thank fuck for this thread. Honestly... and thank fuck for this bmns section✊🏾

DancingQueen85 · 08/03/2021 23:42

@BelleHathor
I've never heard anything about William having an affair. Is this widely documented?

I'm sure at this point we have all learnt that there is no intersectionality in feminism, women's rights and equality only matter as they pertain to white women. Lets not even try unpack the clusterfuck that is white feminism and the sidelining of non-white women.

Yeah, this is why I no longer consider myself a feminist. The feminism board on this site is a joke. They're so racist.

2019. Was widely reported in the International press but only hinted in the UK due to an injunction I believe.
Long thread on Lipstickalley detailing it (warning ⚠️ they don't hold back on Lipstickalley)

MN refuse to acknowledge that.

(No doubt your post will get deleted and this one too as they don't like when overt let alone covert racism is pointed out to them.)

Quaagars · 08/03/2021 23:54

Was going to say I have never seen anything printed in the UK about it if so

BelleHathor · 08/03/2021 23:55

Is Kate pregnant in that clip? Yes It's an old clip when they were all meant to become the "fab four" I just remembered it because Meghan stood out and the weird body language.

RomeoLikedCapuletGirls · 08/03/2021 23:57

The mental hoops that people go through to see the worst in her is incredible.

If I were her I think I’d reach a point where I think “well nothing I do is ever fucking right so I may as well do what I want”

teentipans · 09/03/2021 00:16

Pretty much, even if you dislike her you can't deny this point.

MorePotatoSalad · 09/03/2021 00:33

Hi, I was on the other threads this morning and genuinely shocked by the vitriol against Meghan. I tried to comment and was shot down. I watched the documentary and what was said and what wasn't said and this was what I have come to as my understanding

MM was seen as too outspoken on race, gender etc. by the institution
Archie has been treated differently by not giving him the royal title
The Institution were silent on racially charged media coverage
The Institution are unwilling to be flexible- patriarchal
This amounts to institutional racism

Not really sure why I am posting other than it has given me a lot of food for thought about impact of racism on mental health and how far there is to go still in workplaces to change things, never mind public opinion. Also thinking about where I get my coverage from.

Really interesting to read the links in this thread.

Jangirl2018 · 09/03/2021 00:40

@MorePotatoSalad

The threads on here regarding Meghan today have been absolutely disgusting. The amount of hatred people on this platform have, yet can’t actually give a reasonable explanation as to why. But we know why. Honestly i’ve seen so much mental gymnastics and people twisting scenarios to vilify this women has been truly eye opening. They say the most obtuse things. Questioning the mental state if alot of the folks on here tbh.

Orchidflower1 your agenda's so obvious that I'm deeply embarrassed for you. I'm impolite enough to point it out though.
