Black men protesting BLM but exclusively dating white women

I’m always confused about black men or men of colour in the media and RL who shout racism/BLM and so on yet when you look at their lifestyle they are married to white women. When you go on to find out more they only ever have dated/married white women.... what are people’s take on this?

@im5050 it’s each to their own I have no issue with any. It does rattle me though how black women are put into a box yet white women are free to do it all!!

No I’m sorry I will wear whatever I want on my head “fake it till ya make it”.

Nobody got far in life from being bitter and tearing others down because they don’t agree with something.

MaveMay1 · 23/01/2021 21:54

@im5050

In my experience most men can’t tell if your hair is real or not 😂
This is funny because I’ve been asked if my real hair is REAL 😂 You can’t win.... you do you!
BlackIsBlackIsBlack · 23/01/2021 21:55

im5050

This is true! Grin

DivineRoyalty · 23/01/2021 21:58

Grin sure

DivineRoyalty · 23/01/2021 22:00

Imagine if 70% of white women walked around with a fake afro on their head everyday .
What would you think of her? Would you blame their white men for dating black women because they want women with real afros instead of fake ones?

im5050 · 23/01/2021 22:00

😂😂😂 I know but it’s so true .
I have some amazing wigs that I wear that get commented on all the time by both black and white women when I wear them as they are very natrual looking
I get mine from America as they are much cheaper than buying in the U.K. and I’ve been getting them for years so I’m pretty good at knowing if they will suit me

DivineRoyalty · 23/01/2021 22:04

I know that white women have their own self hate issues that they like to project on us. But I care about black women and I care about my own image first and foremost.

OwlLovesTea · 23/01/2021 22:08

Can you explain that? I suffer from the disease of always feeling fat. And I imagine black women are under slightly less pressure to be thin. I realise im flailing here. Is that the kind of thing you mean?

BlackIsBlackIsBlack · 23/01/2021 22:09

DivineRoyalty

Are you on repeat?

Okay, so I'll repeat myself. It is very controlling (and slightly concerning) that you think another woman cannot make her own choices without being called a sellout.

I couldn't care less if you're Repunzel...good for you. Swing that hair, lady!

Listen. Concentrate on your own hair/journey/ life, and stop trying to get imaginary brownie points. You do not own the rights to being black.

Please, let me be me.

MaveMay1 · 23/01/2021 22:14

Are you on repeat?

🤣🤣🤣🤣

DivineRoyalty · 23/01/2021 22:15

I do not understand you. Should I say concentrate on your own life and stop concerning yourself with what black men do or would that sound stupid? It would sound stupid right? Because we are all talking about a chain of issues in the black community which has a domino effect and leads to other problems, and weave wearing is one of them.

MaveMay1 · 23/01/2021 22:16

Wake up.

White women have braids and so on and white people are not upset about it!!

So why are you working yourself up over your black sister wearing a wig???

Because the white women don’t business at all...

DivineRoyalty · 23/01/2021 22:18

Noone is stopping you from being you. I am just trying to have a logical conversation and all I am getting is defense and emotions.
If you do not like my repeat choose to ignore. I'm not forcing you into the conversation.

BlackIsBlackIsBlack · 23/01/2021 22:20

and weave wearing is one of them.

I've never had weave in my hair, it's always been braided (pay attention) but my point is, if I did, I wouldn't appreciate the likes of you telling me off (lol)

Seriously, even my partner (who happens to be black) thinks you're nuts!

Take care. Not engaging anymore

DivineRoyalty · 23/01/2021 22:20

I went out this week and saw 0 white women with braids, but most black women that I saw had false straight hair.

MaveMay1 · 23/01/2021 22:21

@DivineRoyalty nobody cannot hold a conversation with you because you can’t see past your own view point.

Did I miss the part where you answered why white women are not ragging their own over hair and Botox??

I thought as much.

DivineRoyalty · 23/01/2021 22:22

Braids are lovely. If you havent had weave or wigs then why are you responding to my posts.

MaveMay1 · 23/01/2021 22:22

They had a wig on.. it looked so good you couldn’t tell.
DivineRoyalty · 23/01/2021 22:23

MaveMay1, I said I do not care about white women as a whole. I care about black women and my own image.

Afromeg · 23/01/2021 22:24

Who told you afro hair is the slowest growing hair? Afro hair looks short because it shrinks. When straightened it doubles in length.

I agree with this. Hair growth on afro hair isn't determined by it's texture but genes. Some grow fast and some don't. Same with european hair.

Hair retention is another thing that also can be determined by genes but mainly hair care. Different hair textures need different hair care. Each head of hair is different.

@DivineRoyalty is right on that one. African hair can grow really long - fast or slow depending on genes and hair care. There are many of Africans with long natural hair.

It's the European standard of beauty that has affected the lack of hair knowledge we have because once hair begins to grow, it goes into braids, then relaxers, then weaves and wigs. No time to get to know the real hair. I'm not putting anyone down here. Just stating what I've seen and experienced.

Afro hair has no issues at all except well..shrinkage Wink

BlackIsBlackIsBlack · 23/01/2021 22:26

Even though I said I wasn't engaging..

Braids are lovely. If you havent had weave or wigs then why are you responding to my posts.

Because you have no right telling other women how you think they should behave. Yes, you are entitled to your views. But don't make a woman feel like she's 'less than black' for a different choice that she makes.

C'mon.

MaveMay1 · 23/01/2021 22:26

Such as Somalians? Because they have the hair from the Arab side which is more similar to a mixed race person. Other than that on the contrary Afro hair is slow growing. Like most black people have brown eyes not green! Hmm

MaveMay1 · 23/01/2021 22:27

@Afromeg

Afromeg · 23/01/2021 22:33

Gosh this has turned intense, reading further.

I don't know... @DivineRoyalty has a point (although I wouldn't put it the same way) and I'm probably walking a minefield saying this as it's a very sensitive subject. But I wouldn't say people are self-hating, etc for wearing wigs. Although I've always thought it would be better to wear natural hair mimicking wigs and weaves than European ones. Just saying. Not really calling anyone anything by not doing it either. To each their own.

C130 · 23/01/2021 22:35

Afro hair grows perfectly well. it is retaining the growth which can be an issue for some women.
