CarrieBadshaw · 10/08/2010 22:17

Hi all,
Another newbie here, can I join? I am 10+4 today. This is my second pregnancy after having a twin MMC at 12 weeks in March. So sorry to hear of people who have already suffered losses this thread, it is so sad and I know first hand how hard it is.

The first pregnancy ended at 7 weeks, I had a scan at 8 weeks this time and got to see my little bean with a heartbeat. I am so excited but petrified I'll be unlucky again. Was fairly nauseous until this week, although no actual MS. Starting to worry that I'm not having enough symptoms - just sore (huge) boobs and spots... is this normal for 10 weeks, does anyone else fear they might not be pregnant anymore?! Just not sure how I am supposed to feel now. Anyway have given in to my (hopefully) irrational fears and booked another scan or saturday, fingers crossed for me.

Like others not too sure of all the acronyms, would somebody mind please adding me to the list, my due date is March 4th.

EvianBaby · 11/08/2010 08:32

Morning all!

mslucy if you're reading this I'm so sorry to hear your news

Welcome to all of the new people! We're all slowly getting to the 12 week stage which is great isn't it? i can't wait. I'm still feeling very sick and actually being sick much more than with my first pregnancy. I know some people mentioned that they were worried that their sickness/nausea was easing however with my last pregancy it had almost stopped completely by 10 weeks. I think it's something to do with your hormone levels levelling out (someone said it on a much earlier posting too). I thought that I would therefore feel much better by now (10 wks tomorrow) but...no! Maybe soon!

I now have my scan date, 24th August. I can't wait, I just want to know that the baby is healthy and we can tell (more) people. I hadn't planned to tell as many people as I have done this time (I only told my mum and sister last time) but with my symptoms being worse it was a bit obvious to some work colleagues/friends. Also, my 'bump' is rather large so I think others might have guessed, hmmm!

Oh and I've also got an appt with a consultant in September to discuss this pregnancy/birth. My DS was born by emergency section so I think it's just routine.

Anyway, I just wanted to catch up with everyone whilst i have access to a PC (I had to come into work early!). My laptop is still broken and posting from my phone is soooo frustrating!

For all the first time mums to be, ask any questions you have to those of us who have done it, each experience is different but it can often give you an idea of what to expect.

ps. Not sure my boobs would fit in a photo anymore, they're ridiculous! Although they shrunk after my last child so not as ridiculous as this time last time!

Have a good day everyone Smile

mendipgirl · 11/08/2010 09:15

Hi Evian I have a consultants appointment as well due to EMCS last time. Are you planning a VBAC or ELCS?

coraltoes · 11/08/2010 09:17

oh wow! so many new people- WELCOME Grin all of you (sorry hard to scroll back up for the names and dont want to miss anyone out) and look! a list from start to end of march nice and full. Brilliant.

Rayeraye good luck tomorrow at the scan. It is hard not to worry but your symptoms sound promising, and I hope you get some good news!

I'm off to buy new bras tomorrow night, really struggling with the extra..um...volume! haha

shitforbrains · 11/08/2010 09:36

All these new people! Hello everyone!

For the people that have asked - yes it is totally normal to worry until you have the 1st scan, and yes it is totally normal to have no symptoms and fear the worst.
Later on you will worry about something else Grin

Please can someone answer me this.
Belly - huge
boobs - huge
arse - huge

so why are the scales showing the same numbers as 3 months ago?
Where are the skinny bits?
I am presuming that since some areas are bigger, that some areas must be shrinking otherwise the scales would have gone up.

Judging by the amount of hair I am losing, perhaps the difference is that I no longer have a barnet, just a wisp.

sevenbubbles · 11/08/2010 09:37

hello everyone and welcome new girls!! I am not feeling as sick now but am so so tired. Am also so bloated - my boobs feel enormous but bizarely I have lost 4 lb's . I stood on the scales this morning expecting to be about half a stone heavier (as I feel it) but was v pleased to note that I have lost some. Must be the lack of wine!! I have my scan on Friday so will report back then. xx

am988 · 11/08/2010 09:53

Goodmorning all, Today for the first time in a loong time, my stomach wasn't too bad - although it could come back later. But it is good to feel kind of 'normal' again.

Welcome to all and it is good to know there are so many due in March :) makes it more real. I got booking appointment on Tuesday (for which I can't wait) and then hopefully the scan. The passing of time seems very slow these days. And can't concentrate on work really - which probably is pure escapism!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 11/08/2010 10:14

Morning all..
Sorry havent been about. Had a week off and lookign at the screen even made me feel sick.

On the plus side I am feeling lots better, still being sick but on the whole generally feel better. Have seen my MW twice now and got all my blood test results.

Anyone else having issue peeing in the stupid pots.... I asked her to take it home and bring it back each time at least I can do it in something bigger and not get wee all over my hands... euugh.

I have a glucose test on Tues as my brother has diabetes so they just want to make sure I am ok.

Had a lovely week off with DH and kids but back today... grrrr. My boss is implying he expects me to move my days around so that I dont miss work for appointments, what a shock he will recieve when I hand him a leaflet from my antenatal pack that clearly tells him he has to let me have PAID time off for my appointments. From Sept I have to work my exact days because of DS1 starting school so have decided I will be flexible for the rest of the holidays to soften the blow.

Anyway must catch up.

Rayeraye · 11/08/2010 10:39

Morning Ladies,

I am now sitting wishing the next 24 hours away until my scan. Still haven't decided if I am excited or just plain petrified!! Hmm Nausea is back a little this morning which is comforting and my boobs are COVERED in veins (minging!).

I think I have worked out the 'list' so can someone add me on - 11/3 Rayeraye pg#4 (DD 3 + 2 angels). Oh! Get me talking lingo!!

If the scan tomorrow morning goes well (I shall post on here of course) I shall be off to work to let the headteacher know the news and see her face fall when she realises she has to organise loads of cover!! Mwahahaha! Grin.

Still so pleased to find other lovely ladies going through the same worries.

xxx

gemma4d · 11/08/2010 10:39

Sorry but I am going to have a massive whine.

After a couple of days of MS being not too bad, this is my 3rd day of being constantly borderline gagging/wanting to puke. I am eating constantly as its the only thing that helps, but don't want to be a hippo! I am either constipated or my digestion is running so slowly its almost ceased to exist, and my tummy keeps getting really tight and solid and hurting. Its worse when I need to pee, guess there is just no extra room in there. DP is praying its not twins. Can't wait to get to 20 weeks - actually scrap that, can't wait to hold my baby. I am a miserable, tired pregnant woman and my only consolation is this is absolutely the last time I am doing this. So long as there are no problems. I wish I could crawl into bed and sleep for AT LEAST a month.

OK, I'm done for now. If anyone has any suggestions for my problems...?

EvaLongoria · 11/08/2010 10:43

Hi all hope you had a lovely weekend.

Welcome to all the new ladies. Were going to name you all but worried I might miss someone out.

Can someone recommend something for spots please because my face(more from my mouth downwards), jawline and neck looks terrible. I just had a lazy morning with DD playing doctors and nurses. Energy normally only start from 12-1pm but have a friend coming around so better start making a move.

EvaLongoria · 11/08/2010 10:46

Sorry x-posts
gemma4d hope MS gets better. Cant really recommend anything because never really suffered from MS. But when I travel in the car I must have sweets in my mouth else I will puke.

Oh and just realised that it is not Monday today but Wednesday. DH has Tuesdays off so I always forget when he is back at work on Wednesdays that it is not Monday.

spilttheteaagain · 11/08/2010 10:52

Goodness, loads of new folk since I last checked in! Welcome & congratulations to all of you.

Raye thinking of you tomorrow with your scan. Was it the 12 week ish scan? I've got mine on Friday Confused. Most scared about the blood test, why oh why did I agree to have it????

gemma I do feel for you, you're most welcome to have a good whine! All day MS is utterly miserable and not many people will understand. A few weeks ago when mine was really bad I said to DH "you know, if this wasn't a planned and much wanted baby I'm not sure I'd carry on with it, I feel that awful". This is from the girl who used to feel that she would never choose termination for herself... funny how your perspective can change!

I wanted to let you all know I survived going to my friend's wedding yesterday, dodged the booze, nibbled biscuits, sat down a lot and actually quite enjoyed the day. No one asked any questions so I think I got away with it Grin

Now there's nothing between me and Friday

Rayeraye · 11/08/2010 11:06

splittheteaagain I have paid for a private one at 9+6 - exactly when I found out I had miscarried in March so am VERY scared really. Also, when I went to the hospital before I had had a scan at 8 weeks which dated me, the sonographer was so rude about me being booked for 12 weeks too and then realised I had lost the baby. I knew this time if I went to the NHS for an early scan they would not scan me again, I really need that reassurance while I can't feel any movements! SO fingers crossed, touching wood etc etc (someone find me a black cat!!) All will be ok tomorrow. Until I see that heartbeat and movement I can't relax.

Have filled my afternoon with a trip to see my aunt and cousin so my daughter can play and keep me busy - tonight I will be looking for films to fill my time (or will be online) and hopefully the exhaustion I feel will help me sleep through the night!

Rayeraye · 11/08/2010 11:12

Sorry my last post wasn't clear at all (note to self to proof read).

In march I had a scan at 8 weeks which showed a heartbeat but no movement - they said baby was too small to move. Then I had brown spotting and was sent to the hospital in the middle of the night. There the sonographer was really rude about me having scans after I'd had one at 8 weeks only to say I had lost the baby.

SO this time I booked privately. And am sooooo scared.

Sorry to offload all that stuff about march. Went to the midwife two days ago for booking and she wasn't interested at all, just wanted the dates in her paperwork and moved on to taking blood (which she messed up and nicked a vein leaving me with a huge bruise!!!GRR). I think this is all pent up hormonal rage!

No more moaning..... scan tomorrow.....positive thinking!

shitforbrains · 11/08/2010 11:14

Ray where are you based? That sounds like pretty poor treatment.

Rayeraye · 11/08/2010 11:22

I'm in Leicestershire.

My experience before this was really positive, I was gutted when I got home the other day as I am so anxious and struggling to enjoy anything until I know things are ok.

My DH has been great and is forking out for me to see this private for the scan, which is run by midwives. Am hoping that they'll make me feel better.

If not my GP is fabulous!! He has been so supportive through the entire thing this year. He'll fix it!

shitforbrains · 11/08/2010 11:28

So perhaps you just had one arsehole rather than that being indicative of your whole area then.

I have a shitty community midwife here but as she's not the one holding my hand while I'm giving birth I don't care so much.
Aside from the fact she had to give me an enema 5 days after my EMCS last time. Ooh, the glamour!

me23 · 11/08/2010 11:39

EvianBaby · 11/08/2010 13:44

rayeraye - good luck for tomorrow

gemma - have a moan and don't feel bad. Morning (well all day) sickness is the worst thing in my opinion. Unless you've experienced it you will never know how bad it is. It's probably put me off having another after this!

Mendipgirl - I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet... Scary! Have you? If you have, what made you decide? When is your consultant appointment? Mine is 13th September. On a different note, how's your daughter? Has it sunk in yet that you're going to have 2 under 2.5?! I've stopped thinking about the reality in case I start to panic! Sure it will all be fine. I am pleased that they will be close in age, sure it will be fab in the long term!

Posting from my phone so apologies for errors!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 11/08/2010 14:32

Those with 2 under 2.5. There is light at the end of the tunnel and please dont worry. 23 months between my two and now at 4.6 and 2.7 they are adorable together and really keep each other entertained. In the morning I can actually hear them in their room playing "make believe" stuff. It is lovely and will be fine.

The only lasting not so great memory I have is the dreaded double pushchair. But that is because someone gave us a brand new twin one in front of the other thing.... awful and heavy... hated every minute. The sling and McClaren much better.

shitforbrains · 11/08/2010 14:41

I will have 3 under 4.
Excellent! Hmm
