I think Jemima is a lovely name.

Is anyone getting achey, periody-type pains in their lower tummy and lower back? I've had them for about the last week. It's too early to be anything significant, but it's still a bit uncomfortable.

bellabelly · 08/08/2010 23:13

This week has seemed like such a struggle - definitely with everyone else on the sore hips, heavy bump, stretching pains, backache, etc etc... Feeling whacked this evening - it was the boys' birthdays today and we had a lovely day but I'm totally drained now!

Lovely names people are coming up with. Think we've pretty much decided on Charlotte and Lucy for the girls but still dithering over middle names...

bananastew · 09/08/2010 08:32

Bessie I'm getting those kind of pains. Along with a lot of braxton hicks. I ended up on the assessment unit at 34 weeks because of them! I've had them on and off ever since.

Bellabelly Lovely pretty names. Especially Lucy! and Chathappy Both pretty names but if I had to choose it'd be Summer! But only because I had a not so nice friend called Gemma when I was younger & my parents used to call her Jemima!

Got MW appointment at 11.30 My last one was a bit ruined by being sent to the assessment unit so didn't really get to discuss anything. Hopefully this one will be better.

I had an energetic day yesterday. Went swimming in the morning then cut the grass in the afternoon. Took me half an hour to get over it but it made me feel a bit useful for a change!

36+4!

bananastew · 09/08/2010 08:33

Oh and I keep forgetting to ask, Has anyone heard how Love2Dance is getting on?

parkj83 · 09/08/2010 08:40

Morning all,

Sorry to carry on the grouch theme, but is anyone else feeling sick again?! For the past 36 hours, I've had dizzy spells and sicky feeling intermittantly :(

I was at church yesterday morning, and felt so awful, I couldn't stop crying. Mum thought it was cos DS was playing up, it took me 5 mins to sob out that I wasn't feeling well, and couldn't drive home. I'd brought my DSis and kids too, and was so worried I was being a nuisance, and letting everyone down Blush

Thankfully DS is at DH's mums for a couple of days, so I can really put my feet up and take it easy. I just want to feel chirpy and happy about everything again! Is that too much to ask!!!! :o

Names, we haven't decided on anything concrete, as we don't know what we're having. We're trying to stick with a biblical theme, but a couple of DGP'd names have snuck through too...

Boy: John, Joshua with Frederick as 2nd name are planned but whatever fits! DS's name wasn't planned, it just popped into DH's head the next day, and it stuck.

Girl: Rhiannon, Nicole, Mary, Elizabeth, with Juliette as a 2nd name, or again, what fits!

(our surname is parker, so we had to be careful what made it to the list, no Peter or Sarah unfortunately!! :o )

Debs75 · 09/08/2010 10:11

Loads of aches here. get a really nasty pulling pain over my right hip which may be baby related or from ovarian cysts I have had over the last few years.
Having the period type back pains as well but they are easily ignored so not a sign of anything yet.

36 weeks today so if consultant gets his way baby will be here in 2 weeks. If I get my way then I will hold on for another 3 at least.

Has anyone got varicose veins? I have a bruise on the back of my leg which friend thinks is varicose veins and on the other leg they are stading up a bit.

Dixiebell · 09/08/2010 10:14

Skye - we're going with Arlo too! Haven't told anyone though, so not sure what reaction will be. Interestingly it wasn't even in our baby name book, so I thought it was pretty unusual, but interesting to see several people have it on their list here. It was pretty low down on the 2008 ONS baby names list (59 Arlos in total that year!), and not even featured in 2007, but wonder if will be higher for 2009.... I love it though, and only name that I (or DH) have really liked, so pretty much the only one on the list!

My sis is pregnant too and was worrying she might pick same name and announce it before our LO born, but she's just found out a girl, so no risk of that! I'd hate for something like that to happen...waiting to see what Samantha Cameron calls hers, due Sept - wouldn't it be awful if someone so well known stole your thunder!

skyeplusbump · 09/08/2010 11:13

dixie yeahy! looks like you also have great taste! we havent told anyone in rl that its our final choice, just that its on our list, most pepole like it but my mum looked like this Shock for about 20mins!
oh well, who cares me and dp like it so there!Grin
and i think it goes nicely with dd's name...

Skye and Arlo

awwwwh,im getting all broody now Smile

loving all the names on here by the way!id be hard pressed to choose between jemima and summer why not use one as the mn?!Smile

still pretty grumpy, and uncomfortable, but trying to concentrate on getting stuff ready,
cooking and freezing meals, cleaning, catching up on laundry also to pack the bloody bag!trying to re order our bedroom to fit in moses basket,as dd has the big room its a bit of a squeeze!Grin

wondering how lovetodance is doing...anyone heard anything?!

sassy34264 · 09/08/2010 17:50

skye & dixie - Arlo - never heard it before and it isn't my type of name but i like it.
I'm more a traditional type of name person, i especially love bible names. Have been vetoed on alot of them though......for example, Nathaniel (boo, i LOVE this one) and Issac. He did agree on my two top favourites though and they are Jacob and Isobel. He has chosen James and Sophia, so we have a name for every combination.
Have had the hardest day ever today. Struggled walking around Tesco (more than the normal aches and pains) Had to lean on the trolley like a crutch cos my bump was just rock hard the whole way around and my bloody back went again. It is going more frequently now......i'm beginning to think i may either need bed rest soon or a wheelchair!!!!! EEK.

sazziej · 09/08/2010 19:06

Sassy I have had a day of self-imposed bed rest today - really bad back ache which only eased a little when i lay down with a heat pack on my back! Wriggler has been VERY active all day, with strong kicks which have made me feel quite sick.

I'm going to try a warm bath to see if that helps.

I love all the names being mentioned - again I've never heard of Arlo but love it. We have chosen (more of less 100%) Evie for a girl, still need to pick a middle name. I like Anwen but the jury is still out. If the scans are wrong we also have a boys choice. Wink

skyeplusbump · 09/08/2010 19:16

ohhhh, loving evie anwen realy like your names too sassy i like biblical names too,but im an athiest,so i just dont feel it's right iyswim?!

mw app today said baby is 3/4 desended into my pelvis...but could bob in and out?!

ummm pizza and fizzy drink...im going to suffer for this later!Grin

sassy34264 · 09/08/2010 19:34

sazzie My two girls names where Isobel and Evie, but Evie vetoed. My two boys were Jacob and Nathaniel but Nathaniel vetoed.
I've already reduced what i do on a day to day basis by about 75% since DP got home. But it's not helping. DP had to help me from the kitchen to the couch a couple of hours ago cos my back went again......been sat here ever since. Don't like it/not used to it. I very rarely ask anyone for help........it never occurs to me, being an armed forces OH there is no one to ask!!!
Even got DD to hoover today for the 1st time ever. In last few weeks she has learned: to make a sandwich, toast bread wash her own hair and now hoover!
Spent alot of thought on not spoiling her materially or letting her have her own way, but have spoilt her in that i do EVERYTHING. Didn't make a deliberate conscious decision, but i suppose i just thought of it as my job to look after her. Now i'm trying to train her fast cos i've realised i won't be able to do it with 2 new babies. It has been a sharp short shock for DD!

sassy34264 · 09/08/2010 19:44

skye I don't really believe in God either but i like what i like! (obviously my conscience isn't as heightened as yours) :o

I've had homemade garlic bread and cheese with bolognese and i'm already on the milk!

It's about this time that i start getting very hot and perspiring. (it's been raining most of the day) I am sat under the breeze from the front windows and will leave them open now until bedtime - 11pmish. Think 2 babies are my little internal furnances. I get very irritable and snappy if DP puts the cover's anywhere near me in bed. :)

Debs75 · 09/08/2010 20:49

Sassy Do you sweat when you are eating? I have found that if I have a hot drink or a hot meal I sweat for a few minutes afterwards. I can't have the covers on in bed either.

Don't fret about DD having to do more, it will be good for her. As long as you don't make her help with the babies she will probably enjoy helping you out.

I like Isobel but dc3's mn is Isabella so a bit too close. Have used up all my favourite girls names as we thought dc3 was the last one. Really like the old biblical names as well. Noah is my favourite for a boy but not sure what dp thinks.

sassy34264 · 09/08/2010 20:58

debs75 Erm....can't say i have noticed to be truthful. I don't drink hot drinks, so wouldn't know about that. I also eat alot of salads and lately chunky breast chicken from a carton cos i'm too full/lazy/tired to cook; so not much hot meals being had!

I love Noah.

Bessie123 · 09/08/2010 22:53

Sassy Where do you live? Did you know that if you put all the spellings/variants (eg Isabella) of Isobel together, almost every other girl has that name? It is pretty but your dd will probably be known as Isobel + surname, to distinguish her from all the others. Hope I'm not pissing on your chips there, please feel free to ignore me.

Debs I also have the pulling pain over to the right. I do have a cyst on my ovary but it is not that big. I have a varicose vein coming as well Angry

sassy34264 · 09/08/2010 23:24

Bessie No, i know this. But, 10 years ago one of my choices then was Isobel and it was vetoed by my then DP. I've loved it this whole time and refuse to change it just cos it's popular.
My DD is called Chloe- which was my number one choice at the time. Reason being- that when i did my work experience age 15 I met a little girl there called Chloe and loved it. So 10 years later i picked it despite it being popular then. (which i hated, especially when sonia out of easteneders called her dd chloe) But i'd prefer to have a name that i have liked for years, than to pick one that i like less and might even go off.

I'd rather not have a name that there are 4 in every class of, but i'm not a big fan of unusual names.
If you knew me you would understand. Everything about me is traditional! My house is an old stone fronted terrace and it is having a traditional kitchen, (solid oak worktops) traditional bathroom (roll top bath) etc. I love victorian/edwardian houses/stuff. I absolutely hate new builds and modern decor. See the connection? :)
No offensive to anyone that does........you may hate my style! :o

bellabelly · 09/08/2010 23:38

I love the name Isobel too but we ruled it out due to surname (Bell) - it just sounds wrong - Isobel Bell. Ditto Annabel, Anna and a couple of others I've forgotten.

cinnamongreyhound · 10/08/2010 08:47

It's my wedding anniversary today and my DH bought me flowers for the first time! (For our anniversary anyway not ever!). We are going out tomorrow instead of today as I have antenatal yoga tonight.

Was supposed to be going on a trip with the Children's Centre today but it's pouring and everything there is outside. I don't really want to spend 5 hours outside with a 1,2 and 3 year old in the rain. Plus don't want to feel like I have to spend money to go into the cafe but one of my mum's was very shocked when I said I wasn't going if it stayed like this!

My DS is James sassy34264 so I'm a bit biased towards your DP's choice! I like traditional names too, not necessarily biblical but just something that they won't spend thier lives having to spell to everyone! Although James isn't popular around here and would be a bit put off if it was very popular. Our top three choices at the moment are Luke, Sam and Ben, but can't decide on a middle name at all. I want to use my DH or my Dad's middle names which are Thomas and Edward but DH doesn't like either :(

Was also wondering about Love2Dance, guessing she must be pretty busy backwards and forwards to hospital at the moment.

skyeplusbump · 10/08/2010 08:50

sooo,i suffered for that pizza! heartburn and weird zombie nightmares!!

gotta love those pregnancy perks!Grin

rain, rain, rain here today,no idea what to do with dd, bit of an arts, crafts and cbebbies day i think!

kicks are sooo hard now...really feel for those of you with two in there!Grin

bananastew · 10/08/2010 09:08

skye weird dreams here too but not me! Ds woke us up the night before last crying about something! We think under his bed but the words coming out were ones we just couldn't understand & Dh woke me up last night telling me "its a good job it isn't on a circuit board!!"

Isabella was a strong contender for a girls name here too. In fact Ds would have definately had it. It was my grandmas name & I never met her. I'd said for as long as I can remember that if I ever had a girl I'd use it. Not keen on Izzy tho & My MIL insisted on calling my bump Izzy, even though I told her I absolutely hated it. Went out the window after that! Well, that and 2 boys!

BooStar · 10/08/2010 10:16

chathappy - my niece is called Jemima and it's such a lovely name - it's really growing with her (she's 8 now) and we never meet any others even though it's a recognisable name - I think it's perfect :)
It'd be on my list for girls names if she hadn't got there first, same goes for my nephew's name Elijah for our boy's name top choice. Damn my sister for having such good taste!

We thought we were pretty much decided on Reuban (runners up were Jonah, Ephraim, Seth & Noah. Skye - you wouldn't believe we were atheists too would you? But I just love the old testament names) however my DH threw in a wildcard the other day of Digby which I immediately threw out but now think may be growing on me. Bit nervous to ask but any thoughts anyone?

Sassy - i'm also really suffering with my little internal furnace - he must take after his dad as he runs hot all the time. It's a real novelty for me though as I've always suffered with the cold - now I'm wandering around the house in my bra and pants (poor postie), sleeping with the fan on and having to shun sleepy cuddles with DH :(

On another note my blood pressure has been up and down over the last week, not sure why, not been stressed or particularly busy and never had high blood pressure before. Was wondering if anyone knows how high it needs to get before they start insisting on hospital birth & intervention etc (rather than natural bit at birthing centre)?

Cluds · 10/08/2010 12:47

Hi everyone, am new to mumsnet so hope i am posting on the correct page! Hope everyone is ok in their last few weeks??! I am 34 weeks, or 3 weeks depending on whether i go with my dates or the scan dates! Either way, not long to go now. Am finding the summer holidays quite long with 2 boys already who I am trying to entertain! Feel bad that i just want this baby to come out now, but I don't want to wish it away plus have lots to organise for the arrival still! Hope everyone else is doing ok?

Cluds · 10/08/2010 12:57

oh, by the way Debs75, it does sound like varicose veins. I have them too, didn't with my DS1 or DS2, but have shockers with this pregnancy. It started out at about 16 weeks as a purple patch on the back of my thigh, which then got bigger and bumpier. It has since spread up and i now have what the consultant beautifully calls varicosities of the vulva, also to my bottom. The purple patch is now raised and lumpy and has also spread down to areas of my calf. However, am trying to be positive as one of my friends said hers went straight away after the birth. My MIL however has told me that that is it and I will have them forever now.......think I'll stick with what my friend says!!

SkaterGrrrrl · 10/08/2010 13:57

Welcome cluds!

After an easy pregnancy I am starting to get really tired now. Miss being able to walk fast and miss being over to roll over in bed.

Think the name Jemima is gorgeous!
