New MW is more scaredy (for want of a better word) than old MW who was very robust about things. On hearing I want a home birth, new MW has sent me off for a presentation scan, to be on the safe side - which is fine, but all the checkups I've had for the past 10 weeks or so have said the baby's been safely head-down. Ah well, it'll be good to know for sure. At any rate at this visit I've measured well for fundal height, which the previous MW was a little unsure about! So I guess it's all horses for courses.

Hi all! I'm hoping for another "litlen" too! Ds was 6lb 7oz. My friend has just had a baby, 9lb 14oz! Ouch! My frame wouldn't carry that size but I guess size is relevant to the individual tho.

As for names I think Phoebe is really pretty! We've decided on Oliver. I like Jackson but DH is having none of it!

MammyG thanks for your post! I hadn't thought that Ds might actually be enjoying having me around all the time or watching as much tele as he can! I don't feel so crap now!

I'm starting to worry about feeding now. I was unable to feed Ds. He just wouldn't latch on. I tried my hardest but after a week of nothing and re admission for weight loss I gave up. I'd love to be able to feed this one but can't help thinking he'll be the same. I have bottles and a steriliser ready but am refusing to buy any milk!

Stickhasgrownup · 06/08/2010 18:07

MammyG - I think Phoebe is a lovely name too. Can't use it myself though as its my dh's grans name and the family aren't on speaking terms!
Banana - Oliver was the front runner for my ds... until my bestfriend got a dog, a month or so before ds's arrival, and called it Oliver! Smile
DH and I are in denial about names... just can't seem to get around to having that conversation! Doesn't help that LO is a suprise so have to think of both boys and girls names.

Saw MW yesterday and all on track for home birth. Although I must say she wasn't the most enthusiastic and encouraging person ever... infact I'd say that if I hadn't of had dd at home this MW may have put me off the idea! But have chosen to ignore her and hope that she's not on call when LO decides its time! Grin
She also felt the need to take blood, as I'm having a homebirth Confused Think she was trying to find a reason why I shouldn't! Anyway results back already and all fine.

Really want my MW from last time but she's moved on... she actually delivered both of my DC.

The feeling rubbish must be catching! Had a terrible 24 hours. Half way down the stairs last night after putting DD to bed and my back went. DP had to support me to get down the rest of them.....no easy feat when i weigh 4 and a half more stone than i did! (silent scream)
Then woke up last night in more pain than ever with carpal tunnel syndrome; i had accidentally took my splint off in my sleep. Cue labour breathing and muttering a four letter swear word over and over.
Now i'm sat here with raging bleeding heartburn. My fault though, i cooked spicy bean burgers for lunch. Won't be doing that again. Alternating between guzzling milk and gaviscon.
Why does reproduction have to be so bloody hard/painful/restricting/difficult etc?!

Moan Moan bloody Moan. :o

parkj83 · 06/08/2010 19:05

Hi Stick, my mw was a bit on the off-putting side too. She's classed me as high risk because of the complications I had with DS, and I've got to go see a consultant in 2 weeks at the hospital to make sure I can still go ahead with the hb plans Confused

And I'm borderline anaemic too - great!

Braxton Hicks are going nuts, and setting my back off, so I'm having to resort to paracetamol just to cope if I'm out and about. That's not right!!

Then to top it all off, yup sassy, I think the rubbish feeling thing is definitely catching. I've felt so very low and crap the past couple of days, I feel so sorry for DS. DH has just taken him out to the park for a footie session, but OMG, I could quite happily go to bed, cry, and let the world pass me by! I can sympathise with the carpal tunnel too, as mine has hit back with a vengeance :(

I was coping till literally 2-3 days ago. Now I'm fast feeling like I've had enough!

Ugh, I sound so ungrateful! I'm hoping it'll level out once I get my mitts on some iron tablets!

patito · 06/08/2010 19:28

HI,

Well my blissfull shopping trip turned out not so blissfull after all. I abonded it after about an hour as I just couldn´t keep walking round Sad.

Think baby has engaged though (wishful thinking perhaps), bump seems to have dropped and belly button is facing floor.

MammyG Pheobe´s a lovey name.

We´re struggling with names (or at least I am, DP has a favourite), DP isn´t British and trying to find something that sounds good in both isn´t easy. We have a list but nothing has stuck so far.

skyeplusbump · 06/08/2010 19:42

urrggh, i still feel lke crap, moany moany moan...
and dp has decided that acheing after playing 1/2hr of football is the same as being 8 months pregnant! AngryShock
although despite this odd statement he's still doing alot (pretty much everything) around the house and takes over with dd when he gets back from work at 3pm...so i guess i can forgive him!

phoebe and oliver are lovely names, cute for kids but grow really well!
well done guys!Grin

i think we've decided on the name...Arlo
Grin
ive had very mixed reactions, but i really like it,dp likes it enough
(but he got finally say on dds name, skye,so my turn this time!)
what do you guys think?!
thinking Edward Rune or Rupin as middle names?

fingers crossed for all your homebirths!!Smile

Swordfishtrombones · 06/08/2010 19:46

Hello ladies - sorry that so many of you are feeling awful/guilty/neglectful/sore/knackered (delete as appropriate!). My main complaint is just having the most painful hips in the world at night. And if one more person tells me that my sleepless nights are to prepare me for the baby waking at all hours I'll probably punch them Grin. I have a 5 and 3 yr old - I KNOW what it's like to be up at night! I don't want any more practice thank you.

I'm celebrating the second week of summer hols survival with an alcohol free Becks - woo!

This week has been ok as DD1 has been on a swimming course all week for half an hour at 9.30am. Gets us up and out, and I get to sit on the side for 30 mins which is great. She's come on a treat as well and moved up another swimming level.

DH has monday off to look after the girls and has already planned to take them to see Toy Story 3. I meanwhile have to lug myself to see the consultant to decide whether I am 'allowed' a homebirth or not. I had a 34 wk scan which showed my placenta was still quite low, with one bit about 3cm away from the cervix. Apparently some say if it's 2cm or more away it's fine, and some are 3cm....have to wait and see. If I can't homebirth then at least there is a brand spanking new birthing centre at the local hospital which I quite fancy. They have those sling things to hang from and pools and suchlike.

I saw a baby today that was only a few days old and now I can't wait to see mine! Not long now.

skye My DP is being good too. He's only been back 24 hours and i'm feeling looked after. I've just ate the most gorgeous warm goats cheese and walnut salad that was lovingly prepared. But i find it very hard to just sit still. It makes me feel useless, lazy and tbh like a beached whale. My mum's always threatening to tie me to the chair.

swordfish I'm always looking at pictures on the internet of babies at whatever gestation i am, because it just seems hard to imagine that they look like babies. IYSWIM
I type in babies born at 33/34/35 weeks. :o

ooosabeauta · 07/08/2010 06:08

Just to add a little moan - was really stupid last night, and at about 10pm realised that I was sipping a drink - too late. I said at the time "that's the end of my hope for a good night's sleep" and lo and behold, I've been up since 2am needing to go to the loo and not being able to go back to sleep. I'm so angry at myself! Swordfish I second the irritation at people saying 'it's good practice for a new baby' as my ds is 2 in a couple of weeks and has only slept through three times in his life, so I'm quite used to hectic nights. He's doing much better with generally only one or two wake ups these days, which is why I'm so annoyed that I'm ruining my own sleep with reckless drinking (of water)!

I like all the Phoebe, Sebastian and Arlo btw. My ds was going to be Arnold for a while, and I thought might be abbreviated to Arno, which I liked, but in the last weeks I changed my mind after a negative reaction - and vowed not to mention any names this time in case I get put off! Having said that my ds's name suits him better so it worked out well Smile.

Got a toddler's birthday party and a hectic day today and really don't know how I'm going to get through on 2 1/2 hours' sleep. Is it unreasonable to send my dh with my ds even though the party is by a 'mum-friend'?

ooosabeauta · 07/08/2010 06:09

Sorry meant 'all the names, Sebastian...' etc. Can't string a sentence together...

Jaysfourth · 07/08/2010 06:46

ooosa, not unreasonable at all, and i am sure your friend will understand!
I was awake at 2 also, ( didnt get to bed till 12) then couldnt get back to sleep till gone four, and now wide awake... i have an almighty headache and my hips will only let me walk as far as the kitchen and back. Have some friends staying too, and was supposed to be showing them rund town/castle/ places of intrest, today.....might have to alter plans!

Hi to everyone, sorry not been here for a while, i have been trying ( not always succeding) to remain positive about this breech baby. Started having moxibustion on Wednesday, and one session at the clinic, then for everyday (till Tuesday) i have to do it at home twice daily... have roped in Mum and DH to do session for me. Who knows if its working/worked i havent felt any turn yet so will have to wait and see.

Still cant get my head around a section, silly i know, but hey i cant help it if i love labour.

Sorry not replied individually, hope everyone is ok, will get round to reading up on news when i have five mins two spare hours.

Enjoy your weekends!

1 month to go yippeeee
Am really starting to feel it now, have backache almost all the time, can't sleep at night as my hips ache so much, heartburn is continuos and I am so restless.

Been nesting a lot as well. Was cleaning the kitchen yesterday and dp was totally shocked, I usually get him to do it as it is one job I hate. I told him I was in a cleany mood so to leave me alone.

Have bought some more things for my bag so am almost ready for going in. Still hoping to hold off until September, just have to see what the growth scan says on Tuesday.

Had a weird dream last night. Me and best friend were in a top 5* hotel and my waters broke. We were trying to get to the lifts to go up to the maternity ward(in a hotel yes I know) and people kept slipping on my waters. When we got to the lift I was slumped on the floor and all these posh people were trying to get me to move so they could get the lift down to the restaurant. Meanwhile my waters were gushing and filling the lift up. When we got to the maternity ward I was told off for making a mess on the posh carpet.
Woke up feeling very strange and had to do a quick check to make sure I was still pregnant. Hope the dreams don't get any weirder or I won't be able to sleep at all.

mellymooks · 07/08/2010 10:17

skye Arlo is on our list too! I love it but partner in two minds, we've really struggled to even get together a short list of boys names and none of them are leaping out at me as definitely being the one. I think we will have to wait to meet the little man to know for sure.

We're at the in-laws for the wknd which is lovely as I get to put my feet up and see my lovely girl get some fuss and attention.

Monstermuncher · 07/08/2010 14:46

Hi everyone, happy Saturday

Feeling absolutley exhausted today, looking after DD and my 3 yr old nephew which is challenging enough at the best of times but even more so at 36 weeks preggers. Have just grabbed 5 mins to put my feet up but I am in serious danger of falling asleep. SIL and DH are painting the nursery and I wish I could help but having severe pelvic pains and the bending and stretching is a no no. I can't believe there are only 4 weeks to go! Am semi organised but I totally freaked out the other night (it wasn't pretty I can tell you) that the nursery isn't finished so the family is blitzing it this weekend. Am just a big lardy grump this week, probably because I just can't sleep. Roll on September!

Thats my rest over, I am being yelled for so I'd best go. I like the name Arlo btw, it's not one I have heard before. We are going to call the baby Sam, nice and simple. Told MIL its short for Sambuca :)

Have a good weekend all

Glad to see you have found some way to try and turn your baby Jaysfourth, it helps to do something you feel is helping. Have read positive things about moxibustion so will be keeping my fingers crossed for you. Obviously my baby didn't have as far to turn, although transverse is supposed to be harder to turn than breech but I didn't feel anything that I could say was him turning just general movements.

Sam is on our list too Monstermuncher but we won't decide on anything definite until we meet him.

I've had lots of strange dreams Debs75 but I haven't been pregnant in any of them. They are just very busy and seem to contain every person I have ever known!

Did you go to the party ooosabeauta?

DS and I have been blueberry picking this morning which was great fun and they were a bargain! Unfortunately I got a nose bleed while we were there, first one ever for me but it wasn't a bad one just made me a bit worried. Will see if I get anymore before I talk to the midwife about it. Am pretty tired now though as I had a terrible nights sleep, DS was up 3 times which is unheard of! Had to wee 3 separate times, we had really heavy rain which stopped me getting back to sleep and my 9 month old kitten decided he had to be fed at 2am! Luckily DH couldn't stand it anymore and went down to feed him so I got to stay in bed that time. At least tomorrow is Sunday so no work and a restfulish day ahead :)

mellymooks · 07/08/2010 18:03

cinnamon I've had two nose bleeds this week as well!!
Don't know why it would happen maybe linked with blood pressure or extra blood being pumped about - anyone any experience of this?

Other names apart from Arlo on our list are: Reuben, Jago, Flynn, Oscar and Bailey, but I still feel like we're going to have to meet the little man and for me none of them are as perfect as Nate which is what we had picked out 1st time round but we had a girl, DP has gone right off it and we've had quite a few arguments discussions about it since but he won't budge Sad

mellymooks · 07/08/2010 18:13

Just found this:

Is it common to get nosebleeds during pregnancy?

Yes, nosebleeds do tend to occur more often during pregnancy. Pregnancy can cause the blood vessels in your nose to expand, and your increased blood supply puts more pressure on those delicate vessels, causing them to rupture more easily. Although it's unpleasant and inconvenient, an occasional minor nosebleed is generally harmless.

You're especially likely to get a nosebleed when you have a cold, sinus infection, or allergies, or when the membranes inside your nose dry out, as they do in cold weather, air-conditioned rooms, airline cabins, and other dry environments. Trauma and certain medical conditions, such as high blood pressure or a clotting disorder, may cause nosebleeds as well.

So apparently another normal annoyance that can happen Grin

Debs75 · 07/08/2010 19:59

I had nosebleeds with DD1, not too bad and I haven't had them with the others. Would take nosebleeds over the lower back and hip pain I have now. It doesn't help that the bump is lopsided so I get loads of pain down the left side.

We have no names whatsoever. I made the mistake with DC3 of writing a list of any girl's names which appealed and dp shot down every one. He eventually picked her name and I hated it for a while but then started to like it and now I love it. I think the thing for me was I just wasn't ready to name her yet, she was only 3 days old and I felt like it was all a big rush to give her a name. I would happily of waited until we had to register her.
We don't know what we are having this time so I can see it will be even harder this time.

ooosabeauta · 07/08/2010 21:29

Hi again all,

No cinnamon I have to admit I was a bit spoilt today, and went back to bed at about 6.30 after my ds got up, and let dh look after him, and then I slept until 9.30 so dh took him to the party which was starting at 10. I don't think anyone missed me! I made up for it a bit by taking ds out for the whole of the rest of the day to the beach, where it bucketed down, and let dh have some time to himself. Am going to go to bed after this and haven't had a drink in ages so fingers crossed for a better night Smile We had torrential rain here in East Anglia, which I think might be near you too. Really noisy all night!

Mellymooks I absolutely love Jago. It was my no.1 choice last time, but vetoed, and if this were a boy I was going to try to convince dh again. Think he had a problem with it because I had a childhood cat called Jago. Should never have told him that Grin

skyeplusbump · 07/08/2010 21:33

melly weirdly, also on our list: rupin, oscar and jago! Grin

had a great day today,we went to a local park that was having a festivaly day,it was better than i thought it would be...crafty things for kidys and adults, music, food etc ans we even met another couple with same age kidy as dd,his name was coen witch i thought was lovely and probably would have added it to my list, but i think we may have struck up a freindship!esp' the guys who seemed to really get along,dp's been dying for a 'daddy' freind!!Grin

we got back really late,dd went to bed at 8:45!! so now im well an truly knackered!

heartburn driving me crazy!!!!Angry

35+5!

mellymooks · 07/08/2010 21:59

skye we obviously have wonderful taste in names Wink

ooosa I really love Jago too and it fits in with my Cornish roots so I am quite tempted by it especially as my partner and I are going to finally get hitched next year which means my Cornish surname will go, so would be kind of nice to still have a link in there somewhere.

Right really must get some sleep,

Goodnight everyone.

cinnamongreyhound · 08/08/2010 12:17

We are right on the boarded between Norfolk and Suffolk ooosabeauta. No rain last night but DS up at 7.15 so not the longest lay-in but did sleep all night :)

Thanks for that mellymooks, DH said it probably didn't help that I was bending to pick the blueberries either!

The sun is out today and we are off to my mum's in a bit for lunch to celebrate my brothers engagement, so not running around for me this afternoon but I'm feeling guilty about the lack of coursework I'm doing, which I had planned to finish before the baby comes.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone!

Chathappy · 08/08/2010 21:00

Hi everyone,

Seems like you are all struggling as much as me now! I was actually feeling great until a couple of weeks ago and now I'm so uncomfortable - have also been resorting to putting 2 ds in front of the telly a lot too Blush

Love all the names that have been mentioned - I'm really struggling for a name for this girl..... Dh loves jemima and I really like it too but I also really like summer and they are 2 completely different names. Dh likes summer too. So difficult!

I've been getting such bad muscle pains at the top of my belly, I think where it is stretching. Get it really bad on one side and now it's keeping me awake at night too. I find the only way it eases off is if I'm on my back which obviously isn't ideal either! Feels so sore there though....

Hope you have all had good weekends Smile

I have a consultant appointment on Friday - hoping for a vbac after 2 c sections so discussing everything there. 35+4 now and counting down to next Wednesday 18th when I'm 37 weeks and officially full term! (then will be trying all the old wives tales once again!)
