OK so i know its a few months away but who cares!

So heres to US and our BABIES!!
May our bumps grow and our tiredness reduce.
May our beans Kick and our nurseries be sorted!
May our scans be amazing and our remaining months be filled with positivity and calmness and last but not least
May we all hold our babies in our arms and be filled with unconditional love for our much wanted and treasured little miracles!

nemo I meant more re your other outgoings, could you ring round, explain that you are having a cut in income while Tax Credits get sorted out, and could you temporarily reduce payments? for instance, does your mortgage company do 'repayment holidays'?
Don't feel you have to be apologetic or embarrassed about asking, either, it's a business transaction.

ei23mummy · 19/08/2005 11:40

morning!!!
sorry to hear about your tax credit prob nemo! aint the government balls!!!
they love to feck you up dont they!!
how is everyone today??
the weather seems ok here in sunny l'pool aswell sun shining etc...
we finished painting the bubs room last night! it looks lovely!!! cant wait now til all the furniture is in! it looks sooooo weird havin a nursery in the house!!

Nemo1977 · 19/08/2005 11:43

to be honest ninah one thing only a couple of people on the board know is that i suffer bad depression and anxiety [mainly social anxiety] so dont do very well on the phone anymore lol. I will ask dh to give a ring around next week though. The depression is why I am a sahm as i was medically retired due to is last year. thats why money is so tight..so i do feel very responsible iykwim

scully · 19/08/2005 11:43

What colour did you paint it ei?
Ebbie, in answer to your question, I'm snotty graphic but the best way to sum up my general feeling this morning!

Nemo1977 · 19/08/2005 11:45

ei23 congrates on the nursery being nearly there...our house is still in a jumble waiting for ds room to be finished...hopefully should be painted this weekend then papered on dhs next day off. Then we can move ds in and i can do big tidy up/declutter

ei23mummy · 19/08/2005 11:54

its like a lemony yellow! were puttin the border up later on- my dp wont let me do it cos hes excited about gettin the room done! (hes startin to get a bit more involved now that hes got somethin constructive to contribute to the bub!! hes started to feel for the bub aswell!! yay to progress!)
im itchin to get the border up now an ive got these really cute winnie the pooh stickaround things for the walls aswell!! its gonna be like winnie overload!!

ninah · 19/08/2005 12:02

I understand. It is difficult to make this kind of call when you're the subject of it. I would gladly make calls on your behalf but they prob wouldn't talk to 'ninah from the internet' lol. I will CAT you with my email address so if you think I can help you can tell me. I would dread doing this for myself too, quite honestly, and I think this is quite an understandable reaction. Is dh good with this kind of thing?
Please put out of your head all the guilt feelings about loss of income. In the vast scheme of things the key thing is that you are the fantastic mum that we know you are. This is more important than the office and yes, even cash, too.

ei23mummy · 19/08/2005 12:39

i think it makes it more difficult to pluck up the courage to get on the phone to sort out a prob if the people on the other end speak to you like they think your stupid or something! i hate havin to ring anywhere up cos they always sound so patronising and make it out as tho everythin is your fault! b-ds they need to see what its like to be on this side of the phone sometimes!!

scully · 19/08/2005 13:26

yep, a year in working in a call centre (not this country though) certainly taught me how to get what I wanted when I'm now on the phone to various ones
Always always get the name of the people you are talking to, and make sure to find out that their calls are recorded. This came in handy for us when dealing with Egg once....
Mind you, I spent 40min on the phone to Eurostar this morning and they were very helpful, although it all became a bit complicated, no attitude at all. Very refreshing for a Friday morning
Lemon sounds lovely for a nursery colour, that's what colour dd's room is and I still like it 3yrs later. Neutral but not too boring I used some of those winnie the pooh stickers to decorate 2 yellow plastic tubs I bought from Homebase, and store toys in them. Inexpensive but also look nice in her room.

sweetheart · 19/08/2005 13:30

ei,

We did dd's nursery yellow with winnie the pooh stick arounds. We also had a winnie boarder and I managed to find a company that did drawer handles of the characters faces which we used to replace the drawer and wardrobe door handles. There are loads of little nik naks about which coordinate the room really nicely.

ei23mummy · 19/08/2005 13:41

yeah our border is winnie aswell but it was sooooo expensive!1 £8 a roll an we can only get round the room half way so we had to buy 2!! sorry its my tight side comin out again!!!
im still looking for accessories tho! my mum makes curtains an said shed do ours so that shud save us a few bob! i like the idea of winnie handles tho- never thought about that!!

ei23mummy · 19/08/2005 13:43

sounds like theres a few rooms round the country that are almost identical!!! hehehehe

sweetheart · 19/08/2005 14:11

I think the address for the handles was in the back of the stick arounds packet - and I think we either brought them from B&Q or Argos!?!?!?! It was over 5 years ago now though!!!

Where abouts are you ei?? There is a big outdoor market where I am called Blackbush and they have fabric stalls that do winnie the pooh stuff. They also do small person bean bag chairs and other stuff - all dead cheap.

ei23mummy · 19/08/2005 14:39

im in liverpool. iv been goin to the markets round here but havent seen any fabrics with winnie on that i liked theyre all either really plain or over the top. my mum suggested that we could get material to match the carpet (cream) and shes seen these mini beanbag toys of winnie the pooh charecters which she would sew on every so often so its like 3-d! i quite like that idea!!

george32 · 19/08/2005 14:40

Sorry, I've been quiet again guys. I've been absolutely frantic at work trying to get everything sorted so I can go on hols. Why does everything kick off just as I'm about to go? Hopefully they will sort out all my Xmas deals whilst I'm off so it's nice & quiet when I get back (ha, ha, ha - some hope!)

Nemo, sorry about your money troubles, what terrible timing. I don't mind buying for 2 secret storks if it means that you still get a pressie. Don't see why you should miss out because the tax credit people are w***kers. We will sort something out anyway.

I'm looking at a bit of a yellowy theme too (not sure what other colour to do with not knowing the sex). Quite keen on "sunshine safari" from mamas & papas at the moment. Oh these decisions are so hard!

Well, it's an afternoon of packing for me as we are off to St Ives at 6.30am tomorrow (please, let the traffic be OK). Weather looks like it will be OK so quite excited now, as are the kids. My birthday on Wednesday too so should be a good week.

I hope everyone has a good week.

sweetheart · 19/08/2005 14:44

Oh george - you lucky thing. I hope you have a fab week off and enjoy a lovely birthday See you when you get back!!

ei23mummy · 19/08/2005 14:47

george, am soooooooo youre gonna have a great time on your hols!
if your thinkin of goin for the safari-type theme theyve got some really nice accessories on the studio catelogue website- an they let you pay it off over certain amount of weeks- like most catelogues (duh! ei!) they do borders an things like customised furniture for really cheap!! (i sound like an advert!!)
you should check it out!!

ninah · 19/08/2005 14:58

george, HELLO! wondered where you'd been, glad all OK! work does rear its ugly head. St Ives, you're going to have a great time.
and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! to you
I have a hankering for 'shrimp' in baby's room but I need to KNOW first. Maybe a kind of earthy pale flesh tone would be sufficiently unisex?

ei23mummy · 19/08/2005 15:11

ninah, that sounds nice it would be nice an cosy for your bub!!
its so hard to choose a colour for the nursery if youve got no idea what to aim for ie blue/pink! its so limited! i think the only other colour to choose from that wouldnt be too grown-up is green!!

ninah · 19/08/2005 15:20

I force grown up stuff on my children poor things
I make it all 'tasteful' before they fill it with brightly coloured plastic
My friend gave me a right talking to for playing the blues to ds when he was tiny instead of the wheels on the bus

Nemo1977 · 19/08/2005 15:36

hi all
george hope you have a lovely birthday and a great week.

Ei23 have you had a look in widnes market as they usually have winnie the pooh material and also rugs for the floor we got ds there a couple of years ago. Am also in liverpool just at end of m62.

Nemo1977 · 19/08/2005 15:37

lol ninah at you and your kids grown up stuff...I wish our whole house is like a nursery with kids stuff and garden is a playground..but then we do spend a awful lot of time here and a lot of ds toys will be going on ebay in sep/oct due to his bday and my mother in law having a mean spending habit..lol

ninah · 19/08/2005 15:45

well I try .... mainly cos I didn't start having children til 35 and hadn't a clue about the bright colours and plastic!
ds setting me right by choosing to my mind quite vile stuff
forgotten how old your ds is, he doesn't have a bike you're getting rid of does he? we are looking for one for ds 3rd b'day (5 Sept), bike with stabilisers?

Nemo1977 · 19/08/2005 15:48

unfortunately not he will only be 2 in oct so not got a bike..lol I think boys always pick vile things or the opposite of what you think they would pick..lol

ninah · 19/08/2005 15:53

right it's off to ToysRUs then was hoping to avoid that horror
The worst thing ds got was a brown and white cow from a car boot, with the most hideous face and smelly nylon fur
what am I saying he got - I PAID FOR IT! love is blind
