Me too.
I don't know whether to take it as a good sign that she posted or not. Wierd that she made no mention of her scan.
I'm hoping she is busy baking lots of cakes and we are worrying for nothing.
DQ, please post......

Nemo1977 · 05/08/2005 17:28

mmm think i will email her

george32 · 05/08/2005 17:32

Let us know if you get any joy Nemo.

I'm getting popping feelings in my tummy again. Is that the baby do you think?
I think someone said it was like pop-corn popping & it is exactly like that.

Nemo1977 · 05/08/2005 17:35

so here you are ladies!
nemo, george, thankyou for thinking of me, very touching, meant one heck of alot.
My scan was half good and half not so good. firstly its lovely to see it is a baby in there after all this worry! cute as a button and I'm pretty sure i saw BOY, but we asked esp that she didnt confirm or deny it, so its just me saying so...about 60/70% sure, not enough to go buy blue things but enough so I dont think I'll be surprised at christmas! lots of cute wriggly moments, including when 'he' put both feet up flat against the screen -wish I had a photo of that! nto so good news, we have one raised 'soft maker' from the scan. not enough to say anything is definate, and apparently according to hospital i am 'not to worry' this particular marker often crops up by itself and means nothing. of course thats incrediably hard for me, NOT to worry. but am trying not too. have researched it alot and am indeed finding its 99% no problem. just you know, not an all clear scan I was wanting. have rescan in oct now (god am always counting down to one thing or another!) to check all is clear by then.
sorry went AWOL, just needed to get my head round it and pull myself together.
nemo, hang in there til tuesday. have all fingers crossed for you.
george, thats just how my bean feels -like popcorn very cute feelings. they get more and more frequent, and then in a few weeks they will be kicking the hell out of us!

hereshoping · 05/08/2005 20:11

Hi DQ
I had something similar at my scan - the bowel was very bright which is apparently associated with cystic fibrosis but is most likely due to baby swallowing blood from my earlier bleeds. However if they were seroiusly worried they would be suggesting amnios/ further scans now so if theyve said rescan Oct suggests they are not too worried.Im getting rescanned end of August. We seem to be boy heavy on this thread, how many boys have you already DQ?

george32 · 05/08/2005 21:39

DQ, glad you are back.
I'm sorry your scan has turned out to be worrying for you. I've not heard of "soft markers" before so I don't really understand it fully but I guess that anything that isn't 100% clear is bound to make you quite nervous. I do hope that it is a false alarm and that everything is OK for you at the next scan. Will this worrying ever end?
Really pleased to see you back. x

bonkerz · 05/08/2005 21:47

DQ, have been worrying about you too! Sorry it wasnt the news you wanted but im sure all will be well. When i had my 20 week scan with ds i was told in no uncertain terms that he did not have a stomach!!! Had to go back at 22 weeks to be told false alarm and all was well!!!!
Have had really bad heartburn and acidy throat today, have tried milk but its not working and cant stand the idea of gaviscon (made me very ill when pregnant with ds) Is there anything else i can try??
HOORAY, have a week off work now!! Hols on monday and NEMO on Wednesday!! YIPPEE
I wont be finishing work till 25th November then aim to start back in feb as early as possible! Being self employed its not easy taking time off!!

pmsl onkerz i wouldnt get too excited as I wont be able to live up to the hype

dramaqueen72 · 05/08/2005 23:42

try plain ol rennies bonkerz?

George, soft markers, red flags -whatever your particular hospital uses are things that indicate towards something being wrong. tow soft markers usually mean a much higher chance of downs or similar kind of thing -you know, the things they are checking on the scan for. so one marker is usally okay but must be ruled out, and rechecked at a later date. its not a major worry but for me its a niggling thing at the back of your head you know? just so wanted an 'all clear relax now' moment that was all. bonkerz keep telling me stories like that one about your ds -no stomach! how terrifying you must of found that!!!- i certainly need to hear stories of how scans didnt turn out correct. i actually wrote on my care/birth plan that i dont want any further tests such as amnio, ages ago, because we simply wouldnt not go ahead with having the baby. but of course now, tho we would still definately have the baby, if there is any thing further i would like to know, to be prepared. I'm so surprised at them leaving my next scan so long, all my internet trawling has said 26wks not 32+ for follow up scans for this, but i guess every hospital is different.,
hereshoping - I only have one ds so far, hes my eldest, so if this is indeed a boy they will be like bookends, either side of two dds and I hope your rescan is 100% all clear too.

dramaqueen72 · 05/08/2005 23:44

do excuse my fast typing = bad spelling! and look at the time, can you tell i cant sleep?!

starrynight · 06/08/2005 08:50

DQ according to my bible "'soft markers' are much more common [than hard markers] an may not indicate a problem. Soft markers are not strongly related to chromosomal abnormalities and many of them disapper as the baby develops. Therefore, if only one soft marker is detected during your scan, you may not be told about it because it is probably normal and something which will get better on its own. However, two or more soft markers may be significant and need to be discussed".

starrynight · 06/08/2005 08:53

BTW this is my 'bible' :-)

bonkerz · 06/08/2005 09:01

RENNIES? Im such a softy when it comes to things like that. Do they do nice flavours???? Got to do something but dont want to be sick! Also getting horrid smelly burps is that all connected do you think? Didnt have the burps with ds just the acidy throat and milk cured me!

Nemo1977 · 06/08/2005 09:58

DQ with my ds i was scanned at 20 weeks and had to go back 2 weeks later as i was told his stomach was large and they couldnt check his heart function and lungs properly....when we went back they said he must have been in a funny position..lol

dramaqueen72 · 06/08/2005 10:40

thanks guys. starry, looks like a good bible I have linked here to an article about the soft marker we have, its a great article, really positive and helps me pull myself together about this!
thisarticle
I know they are now very commonly found and so many times absolutely nothing. unfortunately when its your baby even the tiniest chance lurks at the back of your mind. but doing pretty well with putting it as far back as I can.

george32 · 06/08/2005 11:44

It really does make me realise just how naive I am when it comes to this pregnancy lark. Do they tell you about things like this automatically? I am beginning to understand how a phobia about scans could develop.

Bonkerz, a week off! I'm so .

ei23mummy · 06/08/2005 13:08

afternoon laydeez!! hows the tums??
bonkerz, iv been eatin everton mints like theyre goin outa fasion it seems to calm my h/b. or try the soft rennies theyr a bit friendlier than the chalky ones!
i think everyone has nerves b4 their scans my mum sed that when she was havin my bro they sed that he had no oesophagus- they had her in for 2 weekly scans and had her worried sick only to tell her at 34 weeks that it was a false alarm and he was perfectly healthy!!!
these tests aint 100% so dont let them get you too worked up!!
mines in nine days time an i cant wait!!

ei23mummy · 06/08/2005 13:15

george, dont worry if you feel a bit naive- i do too!!
iv bin going onto this site called pregnancy.org and the calender on that has got some good snippets of info!! (my midwife told me about the site!!) can you believe that at 20 weeks the bub is already 10.5 inches long!!!! its really helped me feel like i know whats goin on inside my belly!!

bonkerz · 06/08/2005 13:39

well i couldnt wait girls and have just put up my cot! For weeks now i have had a small pile of things in the spare room which we keep moving around so have now put them in the cot and thank goodness i di cos i cant believe how much i have bought already! Have shocked myself a bit but feels really good. Called Dh up to look at everything and even he was shocked at how much i have already done!! Roll on December!!

ooo bonkerz that makes it seem so real..lol
i was talking to lockets last night about buying her marco sky tandem pram...afterwards i felt realllly nervous..pmsl

dramaqueen72 · 06/08/2005 13:42

george, yes most places tell you everything, in our 'sue them' society its become normal.
and ei23; its actually from these scans becoming so good and so clear that they find more and more things 'as normal' more often. its a scary price IMMO but then i would want to know every single thing, personally.

Nemo1977 · 06/08/2005 13:43

i agree dq if they have concerns i want them to be raised.
