well nice, now who has snaffled the fucking brie?

FannyPriceless · 17/05/2010 12:35

Runs headlong Waddles painfully into the deli.

Grabs a huge wodge of stinky Vacherin, a tub of pate, and settles in for the ride.

Makes a raw prawn sandwich in anticipation of ski's arrival. (It doesn't matter if she doesn't get here for a while; it will be all the nicer for sitting out on the counter.)

rollerbaby · 17/05/2010 12:36

I haz sprinkles it on my weetabix... nom nom nom.

MALDIVES Pokey????!!! Iz you like high? Nah, sadly that was a honeymoon special never to be repeated. We were going to Italy, but literally have decided that given financial circs we are going to save every penny and stick it in the bank, pay off credit cards etc and generally stop pissing about and act like adults. I would give my left leg to lie in the sun but we have had a pretty nice year what with getting wed and going away then so I can't really complain. Although I frequently do.

Even if we tried to go cheaply I suspect it would still cost a fair whack which could buy buggy/cot/other plastic paraphernalia.

honey Yep, money takes on completely new significance now. I can't believe the things we used to spend money on without thinking!

Here's an idea for what we did when I was pg first time. While I was still on full salary early in the pg we started living on just MrP's salary plus basic SMP. We put all the rest of my salary (bigger than his) into the savings account. We didn't quite manage the transition straight away and needed to dip into the savings for the first couple of months, but we soon got the hang of it and it was great discipline. We used the savings to buy baby stuff and to tide us over when things got tighter later on.

It worked pretty well right up until I was made redundant when I tried to return to work. (But don't worry, that won't happen to you!)

rollerbaby · 17/05/2010 13:20

Good advice and yep something we need to try and follow now really as it is going to be tight come November and we need to get into the mindset now... We hadn't actually faced up to the reality of the situation until last night when we sat down and did some sums. I guess it's that transition from my money to our money and the fact that I can't just pop out and buy a new handbag (not that I would) or whatever at the drop of a hat.

pink pony piccie

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 17/05/2010 13:22

and another thing for those first timers!!!

rollerbaby · 17/05/2010 13:27

I can't believe a grown woman that does not have pneumatic breasts dyed a pony. I mean, is a pony in itself not interesting enough for kids? That is one silly lady.

PMSL at dad covered in vomit. May not find as funny in a year.

Hi all - sorry have been quiet, pesky work, have failed to catch up properly but glad all recent scans went well & that Newcassel PESH-up was a success. Count me in on the constipation love-in and I'm also in de nile re piles (pretty sure one was there even before pregnant, am pretending it/they are not). Fanny's cash suggestion sounds very sensible but we're going to live it up until September then follow her advice after that, we're currently "doing things for the last time" like lazy holidays and meals out. Luckily as a public sector worker my salary is far outstripped by TSF's (a reversal of when we met but a happy one workwise for me), and now all I must do is curtail his shoe-habit....

I really am so very in denial on so many fronts....

In other news, the new Robin Hood movie is fairly pants....

rollerbaby · 17/05/2010 14:00

Just texted dog sitter who was booked for 2 weeks after Bank Hol. This woman is an angel sent from heaven who mini moo loves. Strictly speaking we are 14 days from start of booking therefore no charges as far as agency is concerned. However, she seems a bit upset as has turned down other bookings etc for bank holiday. What would you do? She normally has him 2 days a week for the same charge as an o/n stay at her house. I don't want there to be bad feeling but equally I've just lost money on flights we've booked and can't get back now. Is a right fucker all round really. Should I offer her a compromise of a week maybe? The other thing is that I am conscious we are right in the middle of trying to break this barking thing in the night and starting him out at her house might just bring us back to day 1. Oh fuccccccckkkkkkk.

FannyPriceless · 17/05/2010 14:06

curly Hope the hospital bothering goes OK this afternoon. Do your best PITA impression and come back with lots of answers.

rots I saw Mitchy's thread on Friday and was mighty impressed... until she posted the first photo! 'Pony as movie extra in chainsaw massacre remake'? The slightly faded photos are a lot nicer.

honey Note the dad in the vomit photo was wearing a sensible cotton t-shirt. Don't try this while wearing a fine merino/cashmere top and sitting on a suede sofa with a collection of expensive electronic items next to you...

Which reminds me of a top purchasing tip: Buy a stack of plain white hand towels. M&S £1.50 each but prob even cheaper elsewhere. Serioulsy get at least 10. They are the perfect size for lining the changing mat (and much better than the custom made ones) and you will also find yourself wearing them over your front on those 'just in case' days.

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 17/05/2010 14:09

vag take it from a carrot wot knows. Don't deny the bumnuts. Because a little one, just hanging around minding its own business, can become a BIG one literally overnight which is Seriously (Seriously) Painful. Suggest you stock up on the all bran, eat lots of fruit, make sure you're nice and gentle when "in need" (ditch reading the paper on the loo), and if you do get in pain, straight to the docs for treatment. Some OTC stuff is ok but be careful to read the pack about whether it's safe to use when preggo or not.

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 17/05/2010 14:13

fanny It was SO a chainsaw massacre! Poor thing!!!

So sorry I didn't manage to take up your pics. The one of you and little'un just born is amazing - you look stunning! If that's what you get from a CS I want one! I looked like an overblown rasperry puff .

Was your ex-poniiieez on livery or is that your place? Looks faaaaaab. again .

OkieCokie · 17/05/2010 14:16

Moo there is still time for her to pick up bookings for last minute holiday plans that childless couples may arrange. I will send you details of woman we have used if you want another suggestion and you end up burning bridges.

rollerbaby · 17/05/2010 14:24

do you mean another dog sitter okie? I just feel so bad as she asked me to confirm a week ago... and she is v good and flexible usually.

OP posts:
