Slightlytired, go book yourself into a hotel all by yourself, and leave DH to entertain hisparents. Maybe a spa break on last minute.com?

Do whatever makes you calm... no matter what it is.

SlightlyTired · 20/05/2010 12:48

Hi ClaireDeLoon and welcome. Yes, I am going to talk to DH about cancelling them. They will just want to talk about the baby and no doubt will feel free to voice their hideously uninformed opinions about why I might be bleeding (something I ate, perhaps?).

aimee0211 · 20/05/2010 13:15

Thanks for the welcome TheChangeSpiral, i'm not holding out for my body going back to what it was as it wasn't exactly a temple to begin with!

SlightlyTired can I suggest staying in bed the whole weekend, either with DVD's, a good book, or your DH? It won't take your mind off things but nothing is going to until monday.

QueenofDreams · 20/05/2010 13:23

HI all.
slightlytired I'm thinking of you. I remember well what it was like bleeding but with no scans or anything to confirm if I was miscarrying or not. I'd say not to worry too much unless you start cramping and passing clots though. (I know easier said than done )

Still horrendously sick here. I just want this to be over now. It's looking like I'll be having another trip to hospital soon.

crazykat · 20/05/2010 14:00

Hi and welcome aimee0211, I was your age when I had DD and I didn't have much hope of my body going back to 'normal' either (not that it was great to begin with). I was actually surprised how quick I was back in my old clothes. No hope of that this time round though!

slightlytired I second staying in bed if DH can't get them to come another time - don't mention the bleeding of you don't want just say you're really tired and MS is bad and can they make it another time.

QueenofDreams I hope you feel better soon, just remember it'll be worth it when you finally get to hold your baby.

Lucypeanut · 20/05/2010 14:27

Welcome ClaireDeloon & Aimee0211

I've been so excited about having twins i've told all my close friends, so they can all all go OMG with me.

I have been sick quite a lot and often feel dizzy and faint, and there are a lot of stairs in my house. Hopefully it will pass but I'm holding on to the idea that it's good at this stage.

Persnickety my original due date I think is 14th Dec, consultant said it would def be at 36 weeks so i suppose i'll just wait and see. Just hoping they are healthy and i don't end up looking like too much of a blimp!

Slightlytired 100% agree with the staying in bed plan, and hope you feel better soon, will be thinking about you on Monday

DuelingFanjo · 20/05/2010 14:51

slightlytired sorry to hear that everything is so stressful. I would definitely cancell the inlaws if you can.

Wave to ClairDeLoon

I feel breathless if I walk anywhere, am assuming this is probably normal?

SlightlyTired · 20/05/2010 15:40

Thanks guys. Am sitting on sofa with a cup of tea watching appalling day time TV. I could get used to this. Have spoken with my mum and my sisters so feeling a bit better now.

Lucypeanut that is SO exciting that you are having twins. Your body is working doubly hard so no wonder you feel dizzy and faint. Make sure you take it easy. My sister in law had twins and I have to say, having had a singleton who likes to absorb as much of mummy's attention as possible, I am sometimes quite envious of her two playing happily together!

DuelingFanjo - yes, I have days where I feel like I am getting puffed very quickly - walking upstairs for example - and particularly towards the end of the day.

Miffster · 20/05/2010 15:50

Lucyeanut, congratulations!
wow! my SIL had twins like yours last December at age 39 and all is well - 2 dear little girls.

welcome new people on the thread.
am at home today, left work mid-morning because I felt so exhausted and dizzy, blacked out and almost fainted when I stood up from desk and staggered quite scarily, so gave it up as a bad job and got cab home

Lucypeanut · 20/05/2010 18:04

Thanks miffster hope you are feeling better. did you quit your job, or just leave for the day?

Slightlytired I've had 2 weeks off work due to exhaustion/lower back pain and been watching a lot of v rubbish tv - it's brilliant, feel like I'm back in my college years especially with my pot noodle addiction.

Duellingfanjo think the breathlessness we've all been experiencing is nature's way of telling us all, that sofa, rubbish tv, pot noodles and bed are the best options at this stage! oh and chocolate milkshake, I can't get enough of it. Had a very thin friend who was advised to drink it to help her put on weight so I should probably stop but just can't help myself!

PJen · 20/05/2010 18:37

Lucypeanut very at you forming a full family by only going through pregnancy once! CONGRATS this is such exciting news. I was so hoping that mine would be twins but no luck... lol...

Slightlytired I have been where you are! I had light bleeding but the baby was fine in the scan and then shooting pain and bleeding and did a second scan and it showed that I had a bleeding in ovary due to some stupid cyst. So there can be a lot of other reasons for bleeding... don't let bad thoughts in your mind and try to stay positive. Easier said than done but doable... I hate in law visitors although they are rather very nice to me. Thank god they are back in Canada and can't just come unannounced. DH told his parents about me being pregnant and invited everyone to London for Xmas and I just nearly killed him! What does he think inviting me 5 people when I have to deal with a new born!?! He cancelled. My hormones are making me a bit scary...

DuelingFanjo I went from going to gym everyday before pregnancy to not moving from my chair behind computer all day... I went to gym today and have some minor cramps. I have no energy what so ever!

QueenofDreams give sea band a try! I started wearing it 3-4 weeks ago and MS is gone for good! It comes back as soon as I stop wearing it! So now I am going to bed with it since I hate having MS early morning... IT DOES MAGIC!

2 more days and I will be 12 weeks!! So exciting!

DuelingFanjo · 20/05/2010 19:30

The Midwife still hasn't called and I am now 10 weeks. Hrrmmph. I do know that someone called the home phone today because I dialed 1471 and there's a number I don't know. The GP said to call the surgery tomorrow if I have not heard anything but I wonder if I should call the number and ask if it's the midwife?

She should have my mobile and surely she must realise that some people do have full time jobs and so might not be at home in the day, that's if it is her.

WalkTheDog · 20/05/2010 20:05

Quick hello, parents are visiting for possibly a week

{{hugs}} slightly tired

welcome newbies

saw MW today for booking appt - 8wks today (or slightly less on her calculation), she also added an extra day to EDD, making it 1st Jan instead of 31st Dec - but I think it will be Dec as I'm pretty sure I know my dates. Will get scan in a months time, feels like forever away! Nice thing is I have met the MW before, I helped her built some raised beds on her allotment, hadn't realised it was the same lady when spoke to her on the phone.

emmaxmas · 20/05/2010 20:07

Evening all,

Well everyone's been very chatty! Lots to catch up on. Welcome to the newbies. I am 9 weeks today- yay!

lucypeanut that's very exciting news about your twins! What a surprise! DH is very keen for twins but we'll just have to wait and see.

slightlytired definitely put off the in laws especially with the way you're feeling at the moment. I have mine arriving in 2 weeks time -am already dreading it. My MIL is one of those people who is not a particularly easy house guest!

Well I am feeling like a big lump. I have done virtually zero exercise in the past 6 weeks apart from a swim at the weekend. I'm not eating particularly healthy- I've been eating bags of sweets as they help keep the nausea at bay but definitely not helping the waistline.

Finally managed to get an appointment with GP yesterday re some bleeding I've been having so at last I have been referred to EPAU however haven't heard yet when my appointment is- it just seems to be one waiting game after another! At last today I seem to be less tired having felt like I've been hit by a giant truck for the past few weeks.

Enjoy your evening

LittleB · 20/05/2010 20:08

fordy and velvecu, so sorry to hear your news, it must be very hard for you.
Lucypeanuts - wow twins, thats exciting - good that you're getting plenty of rest.
Slightlytired, best wishes for your scan on monday
And persnickety - i just clocked that your ds is the same age as dd (5 on the 12th) can't believe you were on the may2005 thread too - that was the first mumsnet thread I joined! Can't CAT you but will try and guess your identity and await your reveal!
I was back at work today as I'm feeling a bit better, but still achey and moving around like I'm 8mths pregnant so it doesn't hurt, also keep clutching lower tummy where it hurts in classic pregnant women pose - someones going to clock this soon.
Thankfully I don't work fridays and have got a fairly quiet weekend planned, so trying to get plenty of rest. I also haven't been too sick at all so far, which is a relief but does make me worry - looking forward to getting a scan appointment but I'm only 8+4 so its still a while yet.

maxpower · 20/05/2010 20:31

congratulations, louby , claire and aimee

sorry to hear your news velvet

I'm rapdily struggling to find work clothes that fit - last time round, no-one noticed I was pg until I was well over 5 months as I had no bump. This time I've not even announced it and I'm thinking about getting my maternity clothes down from the loft!

Exhaustion really kicked in today. I could have gone to sleep on my desk at about 2pm. Typically, this afternoon went on for about a week and in my job, the time usually flies by.

Wholelottalove · 20/05/2010 20:34

Hi all, just catching up having spent the last couple of evenings crashed out as soon as DD in bed.

velvetcu and fordy I am very sorry to hear about your losses and hope you are being looked after.

Welcome to newbies.

I am starting to get a bit fed up now with sickness and being so tired. DD has been up with fever and teething and will only have me so I've been up with her in bed (DH on sofa) for four nights now. So shattered, but I am going away tomorrow for two nights by myself to stay by the sea in a posh caravan loaned by a friend's parents. I'm going to rest, read, write, watch DVDs and rest a bit more. I'm hoping the sea air helps with the sickness.

In last two days I've had one person ask outright if I'm pg (I went v red, then said yes but please keep quiet) and someone else say 'don't you ever stop eating?' Got a little bump and noticed belly button is much more shallow now. I'm only 10 weeks tomorrow, still over 3 weeks till scan and I don't think I'm going to manage to keep it quiet at work until then somehow.

mumnerves · 20/05/2010 20:59

velvetcu and mummyMcKT sorry for your losses

slightlytired I am at your MW!!! I think you should call your GP and discuss it with them instead, Can you not ask to see a different MW? I think I read somewhere that you can request someone different.

Went maternity shopping today, didn't want to till after my scan so was just so pleased to get to look for some comfy clothes. I didn't want to spend too much but it was so hard to find good decently priced items! Got 2 work trousers from select @ £12 each and Asda had some very decently priced non-wired bras. Was shocked to find out I've gone up 2 cup sizes
(sorry if anyone is not from the UK and doesn't quite get this last bit)

TheChangeSpiral · 21/05/2010 10:36

Good morning all!

I ordered myself some lovely organic bamboo maternity jeans (for only £15 too), which have just arrived. I'm usually a 10-12 so I cautiously ordered the 12 and they are still a bit on the tight side! Not sure which smiley is most appropriate:

Ordered myself a Mama Pack too, which is an ethical version of the natal sample packs you get. Free tea, yummy muesli, ginger sweets, nappy cream etc. Several websites bung them in for free when you place an order or you just pay for the postage.

PJen · 21/05/2010 11:24

Good morning all,
I had pain yesterday which I put up with and tried to ignore. Then woke up today with a lot of bleeding!! So I panicked and started crying like a baby (hormones!!) instead of work went straight to EPU and they scanned me (this is my third scan) and baby is all fine! they saw haemorrhage elsewhere and were not sure why I am bleeding?!?! I am writing this to all of you who have minor bleeding as reassurance. The consultant said the MC bleeding comes as cloths and should be very red... The consultant was 26 weeks pregnant herself and very nice and understanding. I cried during the whole visit (I swear it is the hormones!!) and she talked to me like a sister, which felt so nice as my family is far away...

Goodluckbear · 21/05/2010 11:49

PJen, glad it was fine, and glad the consultant was so nice, that is really nice. Big hugs to you.

Thanks for the tip TheChangeSpiral - will be taking a look at that!!

DuelingFanjo · 21/05/2010 11:49

PJen am so glad everything is ok. Must have been really scary.

I have just called my GP and am really not happy. I went to see the GP last Friday and he told me the Midwife would pick up my notes on Tuesday and that if I hadn't heard from her by then I should call the surgery today. That turned out to be completely pointless. The receptionist said that it can take up to 15 days for them to call me and that because I 'didn't put all the information down' then that might be why she's not called yet!

I have no idea what she is on about so asked whatshe meant and she said I hadn't given the date of my last period and then.... read it out to me... 6th March! Grrrrr.

I am worried because I really want to ask about Nuchal scans and I know I will need to have it soon. Everytime I have asked the surgery if I have enough time they've said 'yeah it'll be fine' but I am 10 + 2 now.

LittleB · 21/05/2010 11:53

sorry to hear about your scare pjen, but glad that they were helpful and all is well. I'm enjoying my day off on my laptop in the garden - trying to rest although I have already mowed the lawn and walked the dog and desperately need to hoover. DH is finishing work early today so we can go to the coast and go mackrell fishing - hope he catches something - supposed to be very good for babies! I'm off to look for a free mama pack now and watch some maternity clothes on e-bay - I'm rapidly growing out of my trousers - its all that eating to keep nausea at bay!

PJen · 21/05/2010 12:08

DuelingFanjo can't believe your MW!!!!! Honestly! Keep on calling till you get a scan date. The latest you can have your scan is 13+6 weeks. I know this from consultant and I am doing my nuchal scan on 13+1.

littelB I have never bought clothes or anything from eBay. What do you put in your search criteria? My friend was saying that she bought most nursery stuff and travel system from eBay for cheaper... I need to start eBaying at wknds..

emmaxmas · 21/05/2010 12:29

pJen so pleased to hear that your scan went well. That must've been very scarey. You must be so relieved that all is okay.

Dr phoned me this morning and I have my scan at EPAU tomorrow morning- really looking forward to it and just keeping my fingers crossed that everything is okay and that there's a heartbeat etc...

Well have a bit more work to do and then hope to get out and enjoy the gorgeous sunshine.
