jodieO A few of us seem to be crying at nothing so the amount of hormones racing round your body during sex it's not surprising that you might cry then. Poor DP he must have got really concerned. Don't let it stop you, it's good for you and the baby - something about happy hormones and cervical softening (but think that bit is more pre birth)

Miffster · 19/05/2010 14:15

So very sorry fordypops, thinking of you.

DuelingFanjo · 19/05/2010 14:42

fordypops I am so so sorry to hear your news. That you can remain so lovely about all us other ladies when going through this is so amazing. I know how devastating this is and wil be thinking of you

Welcome to bakingkeepsmesane

mumatron · 19/05/2010 15:01

just a quick post to say how sorry i am to hear your news fordy hope you have support in rl.

i haven't go time to catch up with everyone, will try again later

ReshapeWhileDamp · 19/05/2010 15:22

fordypops, I'm so sorry. I know how devastating it is, especially when you're nearing the end of the first trimester and are beginning to think things are fine. I chose an ERPC (surgery) after I found out about my mmc - it is a very simple and quick operation and you should be in and out in a day. Take it very easily afterwards, though, and take as much time off work as you need. I hope things go well for you on monday.

fordypops · 19/05/2010 15:47

Thank you so much ladies, it means alot to me. My boyf is being brilliant, as is my mum, have told a couple of friends but i just feel really numb, I keep crying on and off but just feel really sad.

I am going for the surgery option, I think I just want it done and out of the way. i work for a small business and they are all like my family anyway so I can't see it being a problem with time off.

thank you all again and take care xx

Lucypeanut · 19/05/2010 19:46

Thinking of you Fordy xx My best friend had a mmc last year and was feeling just as you do. She has just had a beautiful son and I'm sure you'll be trying again soon and letting us all the know the good news, stay positive. Sound like you have a fab family and friends and I wish you all the best.

I have mixed and quite shocking news from my scan. I am having twins but it is a monochorionic, diamniotic pregnancy? All a bit confusing but the babies will be identical and share the same placenta. This is fairly high risk and will mean if all goes well I will have to have a caesarian at 36 weeks so I will be having November babies! Consultant said it's better for me to swap hospitals and go to Queen Charlotte's as they are experts in multiple births and not to google it as I will only scare myself.
To be honest I am just in shock, big time as I've never even changed a nappy and now I'm having twins OMG!

maxpower · 19/05/2010 20:16

So sorry to hear your news fordypops

Wow Lucy that must have come as a suprise! Double congratulations to you. My SIL had twins by emcs last year and she has coped amazingly well - I'm sure you'll be fine.

Lucy Spangle our nuchal scans are booked at a different hospital to the one I'll be under for the delivery. You get the nuchal scan for 12 weeks, but there's no urgency shown at all about the booking appointment where I live.

I'm totally into big hearty food and anything involving potatoes at the moment. Had a spinach/chicken/potato salad last night and a bowl of honey nut cornflakes for pud!

mumnerves · 19/05/2010 20:41

So sorry to hear your news fordypops hope you're back on another ante-natal thread real soon!

lucypeanut wow! Congratulations! At least you're doing it all at once.

maxpower I'm into hearty food too atm but just off all meat and veg

Had my scan yesterday and saw my little LO who waved it's arms and legs frantically when it got woken up

Hope everyone is slowly feeling less sick and tired x

Velvetcu · 19/05/2010 21:16

Hi ladies

I also went for a scan today and had bad news - again a sac but no baby :-(

Good luck to you all with everything

WalkTheDog · 19/05/2010 21:44

lucypeanut wow that is some news!

mumnerves oh cute a wee wave from your baby :D

Booking appt tomorrow morning. Have a few questions, one biggie is about scans, have heard that only get a dating scan here. We are already prepared to pay for a nuchal scan but will be pretty annoyed if have to pay for a 20wk one too.

Much less tired today - well still tired, just not exhausted. Sore throat eased a bit, lovely OH got me 3 icicles on his way home from work. Having horrible heartburn - have read that love hearts work well

ReshapeWhileDamp · 19/05/2010 21:53

Velvetcu - really, really sorry. It's a horrible shock. Be gentle with yourself.

Lucypeanut · 19/05/2010 22:00

Velvetcu so sorry to hear your news. Take care of yourself. x

TheChangeSpiral · 19/05/2010 23:01

Wow congratulations Lucypeanut - that's so exciting! Just think you get two babies and only have to go through pregnancy once. Sounds like a bargain to me.

TheChangeSpiral · 19/05/2010 23:09

Thinking of you Velvetcu. Hope you're being looked after x

MummyMcKT · 19/05/2010 23:11

Am constantly lurking on here... Unfortunately I was due on 1st Dec and should've been one of you all (never really have been so please don't feel you need to reply to this) The twins I found out I MMCarried at 10wks were diagnosed as "Mo - Mo" twins which is the rarest type of twin pregnancy so am amazed to read LUCYPEANUTs post. I really hope that when you've read that LP you're now not thinking the worst - my intention of posting now is quite the opposite. I have read up on LOTS of info to do with this as info is keeping me sane at the mo. Often women find out at their 20wk scan that there IS actually two sacs but that the dividing line is extremely faint - apparently it's really hard to see if this is the case at this stage so you might turn out to have the two after all. There's a thread on MN under multiples about Mo Mo twins too and LOTS of success stories I'm sure you'll be well looked after during your pregnancy. Am looking forward to lurking here a bit more and reading all about your twins when they arrive. Sending you lots of good wishes. Take care.

ReshapeWhileDamp · 19/05/2010 23:31

MummyMcKT - don't apologise for posting here - you are one of us. I'm really sorry about your mc. Must have been an additional shock to know it was twins.

Lucypeanut · 19/05/2010 23:54

Thanks MummyMcKT that's really reassurring, I did a bit of googling when I got home, and found the info a bit too medical and confusing. I then ordered a twins book off amazon, and you could read a few pages online. Think what I have is mo di so the twins are in 2 sacs but share one placenta.
Thank you for sending me your good wishes, it means a lot and please stay on the thread. Sorry to hear about your mmc, my thoughts are with you and thanks again x

Persnickety · 20/05/2010 09:17

Mornin' everyone. I feel so alive and well today. After crap migraines the past two weeks (each lasting 4 days) and then was a bit nautious and didn't get much sleep the last few days. Not to mention cleaning up child's diarrhea and vomit from the carpet at 2:00 in the morning the night before last... it was horrible. Yesterday was DS 5th birthday and his party at our house after school. So when DH appeared home from work I left him to do all the cleaning. At about 7:00 I started to feel the very begining of a headache and so went to bed at 7:30 in hopes of sleeping it off. When I woke up this morning I felt so well rested, no headache, and I am just so happy to feel like a normal person.

Sorry, I have slacked off on the stats thread. I will update shortly I promise.

Miffster - There is absolutely nothing wrong with Americanisms!

Whatwillsanatabring - I think it's true that the baby id protected by the pelvis in early pregnancy. The reason is that the uterus has not yet expanded up above the pelvis.

Fortypops and Velvetcu - So very sorry.

Lucypeanut - DS has friends from school who are identical twins. And they are sooo cute. I just love them to bits! As I understand it, all pairs of identical twins share a placenta. So, there are certainly plenty of success stories out there.
