I'm feeling fat too - would like to feel properly pregnant and be in maternity clothes, as I'm already growing out of some trousers and I'm only 8+3. Have
my booking in appt with mw next Monday, which will be good, gp said between 8-10 weeks so thats spot on. Will then have dating/nuchal scan between 11-14 weeks, would rather have it asap, I had it at 13+3 with dd by which time I was desperate to tell people.
I have been weepy too, feel so silly.
Also have carb craving, have just demolished a piece of dd's birthday cake-yummy, and also craving meat and fruit juice - not at the same time!

Goodluckbear · 19/05/2010 10:18

Hi ladies,

Can I just check if any of you are finding your symptoms disappearing? I'm 10 weeks today and I don't feel sick anymore and my boobs aren't sore anymore. I'm having a bit of a freak out as I had a missed miscarriage last time and I really want this one to work out!!

Miffster · 19/05/2010 10:26

Yeah the carb-craving thing is strange. I was happily low-carbing before I was pregant and that way of eating really suited me. I was not interested in sweet things at all, had given up bread, and was quite happy eating omelettes and salads and broccoli and spinach and steaks and fish, most of which make me feel like yakking now.

All I am really interested in now is: granary bread, wholewheat crackers, cheddar, marmite, peanut butter, tomatoes, fruit and berry juices, chicken and avocado sandwiches, watercress occasionally, rhubarb yoghurt, and nuts. With tea, lemon and ginger tea and mint tea. That is it. I am pregnancy taking vitamin tablets and folic acid as I am not eating enough veg by a long way.

It's great to be able to drink tea agaion. Though I am trying to ration myself to 2 cups a day.

Miffster · 19/05/2010 10:28

Goodluckbear: the nausea has mostly gone, but not the tiredness, although some days I do have more energy and feel almost normal. The pg books all say that 1st trimester symptoms may start doing as early as week 10, I think, so maybe have a read around and try not to worry.x

Goodluckbear · 19/05/2010 10:30

Thanks so much Miffster - think the hormones are making me freak out - at least that's one symptom I still have!! The wait for the 12 week scan is so looooong!!

TheChangeSpiral · 19/05/2010 11:10

Morning everyone!

Goodluckbear - I am feeling the same at the moment. Symptoms seem to have almost completely disappeared. I even did another test a couple of days ago because I got a bit freaked out.

I'm avoiding tea and coffee at the moment because it's the only thing that seems to bring the nausea back. If anyone is really missing coffee for similar reasons I'd recommend trying Barleycup, which you can get from health food shops. I prefer it to decaf coffee and find it goes particularly well with rice milk.

The 'What to Expect While You're Expecting Site' winds me up with its twee ditsy-cutesy Americanisms but it is quite good on what happens week by week: Week 11 is 10 wks +1 - 10 wks +6
www.whattoexpect.com/pregnancy/week-by-week/week-11.aspx

Hope it reassures those worrying about symptoms not being so strong after 10 weeks...
( PS: it is also a free iPhone app)

^'Your Body in Week 11 of Pregnancy
Hungry? Good ? that's a sign your morning sickness is easing and your appetite is gearing up to help you nourish your body?and your baby. But don't go overboard just because you're eating for two: Try to gain efficiently by choosing the most nutritious foods during pregnancy and minimizing the junk. More smart nibbling tactics: Minimize bloating and gas (caused by digestion-slowing progesterone and your growing uterus) by grazing instead of gorging and steering clear of notorious gas producers, such as beans, fried foods, soda, and sweets.

Week 11 Pregnancy Tip: Feeling Tired During Pregnancy

Are your two favorite positions these days sitting and lying down? Pregnancy fatigue is normal. That's because you're running a baby-making factory that's in business 24/7 (and since you're the only employee, you're on the clock around the clock), causing your pregnant body to work harder at rest than your nonpregnant body did on the run. And for the next few weeks, a baby's not the only thing in production ? so is the placenta, the magnificently complex mission control that will serve as your baby's life-support system until delivery. The result? You feel tired and overworked, even when you're not doing a darn thing. Your energy should pick up once the placenta is up and running and your system adjusts (as best as it can) to the hormonal changes of pregnancy ? probably early in the second trimester. In the meantime, keep your blood-sugar level up with frequent snacks of complex carbs and protein (cheese and crackers; nuts and dried fruit), try a little exercise (which can actually give you an energy boost), and most of all ? listen to your body. When it calls for a break, take one.

Week 11 Pregnancy Symptoms

Frequent urination: Blame that pregnancy hormone hCG (which increases blood flow to the pelvic area and kidneys) for making you feel the need to pee nearly all the time. But don?t be tempted to cut back on your fluid intake since you (and your baby-to-be) need to stay hydrated ? instead, cut back on caffeinated drinks (they just increase your need to pee).

Breast tenderness and changes: Your growing breasts may be a turn-on for your partner, but your achy boobs are a turnoff for you. Warn your partner about your extra-sensitive breasts so that he knows why you may not be up for lovemaking ? or even heavy-duty hugging.

Nausea and vomiting: Still feeling ?morning sickness? ? morning, noon, and night? Don?t despair since the odds are good you have only a week or two left of queasiness ? most moms-to-be get over their nausea by weeks 12 to 14.

Excessive saliva: While experts aren?t entirely sure what causes this symptom, the most likely explanation is those darned pregnancy hormones. Keep your mouth as dry and minty-fresh as possible by brushing your teeth more often.

Food cravings and aversions: Are you still gagging at the smell of what used to be your favorite food ? or jonesing for meat even though you were practically a vegetarian? The good news is that these freaky food preferences may lessen by your fourth month.

Bloating: How can your belly feel so inflated when your fetus is still only about two inches long? The progesterone in your system has caused your gastrointestinal tract to relax, which slows digestion and leaves you feeling bloated.

Occasional faintness or dizziness: Your body isn?t producing enough blood to fill your expanding circulatory system, which can lead to dizziness and fainting. Stave off light-headedness by keeping your blood sugar stable with regular, small meals throughout the day ? and by keeping a stash of healthy snacks nearby at all times'^

Thanks Dueling it is awesome, we saw the heartbeat weeks ago aswell but with the yolk sac issue it was somewhat less amazing as I was trying not to get my hopes up!

I am feeling seriously fat....have resorted to a bobble through the button hole of my trousers at work! I hate feeling fat as I have jsut lost loads of weight, still 2 stone to go, but was still feeling pretty good about myself, but at the moment just feel hideous!!! And my skin is a joke, spotty isn't the word!

As for exercise, hahah!! I barely have the energy to go for a wee never mind anything else! I really hope I bloom come the second trimester!!

notso · 19/05/2010 12:10

Hello everyone, I feel like I've missed loads since Monday!
Had scan yesterday and baby was fine hooray, measuring a little smaller than my dates, I reckon I'm 9+1 but measured 8+5 but nevermind, I am 100% about my dates I felt ovulation and implantation.
The bleeding I have been having is due to a reaction to the hormones in the womb entrance, had a lovely internal swab to assertain that info! Nothing to worry about but may need antibiotics and also anti-d injection if I bleed after 12 weeks. Am so relieved.
Sickness is much better, only being sick about three times a day now. Had a taste of things to come as my 1yo DN stayed with us last night, 3 kids in the morning is hard work!

OnlyWantsOne · 19/05/2010 12:12

Hey all, I have my scan tomorrow (the MW just phoned and they can fit me in) which is cool because DP starts his new job on Monday - and wouldnt really want to take a day off in his first week if the scan was next week.

The frequent weeing has stopped at night time which is fab, Im 12 weeks today

bloody emotional rollercoaster, sobbing last night, happy as any thing today xx

SlightlyTired · 19/05/2010 12:18

Congratulations notso, that is wonderful news - so pleased for you that you can start to relax and enjoy things a bit now - it must have been a very stressful few days.

Hurray OWO!

WhatWillSantaBring · 19/05/2010 12:32

slightlytired yes, mega keen to get exercising and finding it really frustrating that when I have energy (in the morning) I feel nauseous and when I'm not feeling icky (in the evening) I'm feeling knackered and also so bloated that I'm in pain!

DF I'm also desparate for the mw to call - apparently though she won't until I'm ten weeks, so another week (or maybe two - the "anniversary" is on a Friday) to go till I hear, and no chance of being seen before I'm 11 weeks, I don't think.

I did go for a bike ride this week and it was really lovely (country lanes, birds singing etc). I have no idea how true this is or not, but someone told me that in the early days your uterus is protected by your pelvis, so its relatively safe. I also figure that I'm statistically more likely to fall down the stairs (three times in the past ten years) than I am to fall off my bike (twice in the past ten years)

Miffster · 19/05/2010 12:45

Hurray notso and OWO!

fordypops · 19/05/2010 12:54

hello everyone.

Its not good news I am afraid, I had the scan but its not meant to be there was a sac there but sadly no baby, which is why I had some pain yesterday and quite alot more blood. I am obviously in pieces and although i don't have much bleeding at the mo I have tummy ache and back ache. The nurses were brilliant, and I am going in on monday for surgery rather than letting nature take its course.

I soooo wanted it to be ok, but I had a really awful gut feeling yesterday when I had more very very red blood.

But I am wishing you all well on your journeys, and you will all bloom into amazing pregnant ladies with gorgeous babies xx x

Thank you so much for your support x x x

bakingkeepsmesane · 19/05/2010 13:05

Just found out this thread exists. A friend enjoyed being on the May group (they've got a facebook group apparently; has Dec too?) so looking forward to joining in.

I'm due 5th Dec -ish...scan on Friday so should find out if that's right (irregular cycle time so a bit tricky to calculate!). Looking forward to feeling more reality after seeing the scan.

Had begun to accept this wasn't going to happen (I'm 39 now, took 18 months). Delighted, just slightly concerned that I've found it's come more naturally to me looking after animals than babies in the past!

WalkTheDog · 19/05/2010 13:12

I am so sorry fordypops, all my thoughts are with you. Wishing you well for Monday and for hopfully next time round.

SlightlyTired · 19/05/2010 13:13

Fordypops I am so, so sorry. That's just heartbreaking. Best of luck for Monday and for the future. x

TheChangeSpiral · 19/05/2010 13:14

Very sorry to hear that fordypops and thanks so much for your kind well wishes. I hope you're as ok as you can be right now and you have all the support you need. xxx

WalkTheDog · 19/05/2010 13:19

Afternoon all, I'm feeling a bit better pg symptoms wise, but I've got a sore throat now - OH said there was a cold going round, he must have kindly carried it home for me! Nevermind, gave me an excuse to have a heated muller rice for lunch .

Going to try to comment on most people, going be a long post!

QoD how awful, hope you feel better after the days in hosp

LittleB that was part of my thinking too re telling my parent's, if something is wrong, they are a great support. I know it's harder for my OH, is family are just so different from mine.

Likethemapples you'll be counting down the days til the scan then I've my booking appt tomorrow, I'll be 8wks

PJen sure your DH just knows it's hormones and maybe the folk at work could do with a kick up the you know what!

lucypeanut how did the scan go?

hopeful1980 well done on doing the moonwalk Hope you feel less sick today

RWD oh boobs burning sounds sore. Mine are just tender and occ itchy, but are expanding, esp towards the end of the day for some odd reason. Asked OH if they looked much bigger (nice perk of the job for him!) but he said he didn't think so, then (TMI) he had a feel and said oh yep def bigger

OWO another emotional wreck at times here - was tidying out a cupboard yesterday and ended up sitting in it for 15 mins crying. Good luck for scan tomorrow. Glad to hear the night peeing might ease - was thinking it was going to last the whole time.

emma2617 glad scan went well. Sure people talked on here about your right to go lie down at work - but you'd have to tell someone about your pg.

Miffster But what a nice reason to have to get out the fat clothes. With all the exercise your planning sounds like you won't need them on postnatally.

DF I got a freecycled bike and hadn't been able to use it over winter, went out for a short ride 2 weeks ago. My bit of advice, def check the wind direction or cycle somewhere sheltered

GLB a lot of the early pg symptoms should disappear by 12 weeks, so I'd say that is normal.

notso good news re scan

welcome bakingkeepsmesane, only 2 days til your scan I'm also 39, first pg, and I am more used to looking after our 2 dogs!

QueenofDreams · 19/05/2010 13:26

hi ladies.
very of those whose sickness has disappeared. am 9 weeks on friday, and losing weight because of sickness. Also struggling to do anything but lie in bed. I only tend to get up to throw up at the moment. Don't know what I'll do when my mum goes home and I have to somehow look after ds at the same time as all this

fordy that is just awful. thinking of you

bakingkeepsmesane · 19/05/2010 13:27

Fordypops, I've only just read your message. So sorry.

emma2617 · 19/05/2010 13:35

So sorry fordy I was imagining how I would feel in your position because of the yolk sac issue, I was trying to prepare myself. Despite, I'm sure, not even getting close to the true feeling of loss, it was truly devestating to imagine. I hope you have good family and friends behind you and you manage to stay strong.

heading4home · 19/05/2010 13:39

fordypops so sorry to hear your news. So sad. Thinking of you

JodieO · 19/05/2010 13:40

Afternoon all, Fordy so sorry to hear that, thinking of you

Will try and read through after, it's fast moving now!

Quick question and tmi coming up, has anyone cried after sex? I say after but it was just at the end, while dp was still inside me, sorry sorry for the tmi. I was just overwhelmed with emotion and couldn't help myself. Dp was a little worried that he'd done something, he hadn't at all. Feel so silly as I'm so not a crying person and lately I feel like I will all the time!

PJen · 19/05/2010 13:58

fordypops so sorry to hear your news I really hope that you get pregnant again very soon and this time all goes well. Remembe one month later or sooner doesn't matter and you will be there soon I hope too. Send you hugs xox
