flamesparrow · 19/08/2005 10:09

Sorry....

See, a 15 week bump would make more sense to me... but I'm only 13 weeks today!!!!

I'm thinking you might possibly be being a tad oversensitive about your DH... its probably like when you have a big spot on your nose, and you're convinced everyone is starting at it in disgust, and no-one has actually noticed it! I feel sure that he still loves you and likes looking at you. I remember complaining to DH during the last pregnancy that he kept staring at my bump like he hated it, and he said he was staring because he was fascinated by it and just liked looking at it (Felt a tad foolish then)

chloe55 · 19/08/2005 10:30

I know what you mean Flame, like he always says 'why do women always make up their own mind about the way someone looks at them?!'

And as for showing at 13 weeks, I actually looked bigger at 11 weeks than I do now. I am not a big girl (don't get me wrong I'm not supermodel size either!) but it was obvious that I stuck out further than normal - in fact further than my hefty boobs which was a first since I was about 13yrs old! I think a lot of that was bloat though because I have gone a different shape now.

Hmmmmmmmmmm, pateeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

chloe55 · 19/08/2005 16:28

Well I managed to forego the pate so am very pleased with myself. I forgot to mention to you earlier that whilst I was blaring out some musical numbers in my car last night (ever so tunefully obviously) I definitely felt movement and I don't mean wind! I guess my little Nemo was trying to tell me I won't be the next Madonna!

spacecadet · 19/08/2005 16:49

hi everyone, im still feeling pretty washed out, surely i should be feeling better by now?

JuA · 19/08/2005 19:13

I am soooo tired - I have come to the conclusion that I will not bloom this pregnancy. My bump is huge (well huge for 15 weeks)- I am wearing maternity clothes most of the time now as normal clothes are just too uncomfortable by the end of the day. I have been feeling sick again but I think mostly it is because I am tired - work has been hectic but after tomorrow (my last weekend - cos I said I couldn't work weekends after this as I would be too big), I am off for a week!! I can't wait.
I have just got forms to fill in for nursery places for them in January 2007!! I am feeling very organised! and I can cut dd hours when I am on maternity leave and still have her old hours back when/if I go back to work.
Tic Tac - I know what you mean about feeling in limbo between the 12 and 20 week scan - it feels like forever - I am more reassured this time because my bump is growing! but with dd I felt really odd - like it wasn't real - come to think of it, this time, the fact that there is 2 doesn't always feel real! but the second 20 weeks go much faster than the first and you have regular appointments etc and parent craft so it all starts to happen.

TicTac · 19/08/2005 21:11

Evening,

Chloe, friends sis lives miles away so I doubt that is a go! No new Eeyore stuff in new Argos cat...DH picked me one up today so I have trawled through it already and giggled when I saw the WTP stuff, wondering if you had attacked ebay today at work!!

I have been at my step brothers passing out parrade in Harrogate today (should have popped over Chloe LOL) and sat in the sun, I have had an awful headache since about 14:00 and it wont shift! hormones?

Jua - Thats what scares me half the time, the fact that next half of preg will go so fast with Christmas thrown in for good measure, that I keep thinking I should stop worrying and set myself to enjoy the pregnancy!

Just under 2 weeks until my holiday...I think that'll help!

Ooo, that was a long waffle...off to bed now with cup of tea...head to nasty to look at pc screen any longer....Night xx

Does nobody get near a computer at the weekend then?! Ah well, hope you're all having good ones.

TicTac · 21/08/2005 09:05

Morning Ladies

I have fantastic news for you all...I HAVE HAD DOPPLER SUCCESS!!!

Thanks to the great advice offered from Teuch (on an other thread) I got to having another go this morning and the cheeky little minx was finally found. Beating away at an amazing 162. So if the old wives tale is true I am having a little girl!

I am soo excited, she was very cheeky and kept whizzing past the doppler and eventually settled enough for me to catch her heart beat....I had listened to some sample sounds on the internet so knew what was her moving in the amniotic fluid etc.

OK so now I have a dilemma!! I am 90% sure we are having a girl (and have always thought this) and we are off to USA/ Canada in less then 2 weeks where I know we will go baby shopping mad. DH really wants to know the sex so that we can buy gender specific wears for when tictac is a bit older and I am still not sure. SO....Do we:

  1. Pay for a gender scan before the holidays (keep in mind our 4D scan is at the end of the holiday)

  2. Pay for a gender scan earlier in the holiday and keep the 4D scan appointment too

  3. Do nothing and stick with current plans

  4. Avoid finding the gender at all costs

THANKS XXXX

Tabs · 21/08/2005 09:26

Hurrah for doppler success! Wanted to ask, but was afraid to in case you hadn't had any joy!

The trouble with multiple choice is that I always want an option that's not there!!!

Could you not move your 4D scan to be earlier in the holiday?

Can you get gender scans that guarantee to find out the gender, so that if TicTac isn't in the right position to tell, they just keep on waiting and trying until she (!!) is? If so, and you're that desperate to know, and can afford it, then I'd say why not just go for it! But if one of those conditions doesn't apply, then I'd remind you that patience is a virtue .

I'd add though that even knowing the sex, I wouldn't go mad on buying baby clothes before she's here, as then you'll have no opportunity for the excitement of buying stuff later on, and from what everyone seems to say, you'll prob get bought loads of clothes anyway.

TicTac · 21/08/2005 11:06

Hi Tabs...Hadn't tried for a couple of days so I didn't get disheartened but now I am on cloud nine....as you can imagine!!

We can't move the scan to earlier in the holiday...no opportunities in the right places if you know what I mean otherwise we have deff done that!!

As for the baby stuff...1 of the stop offs in the holiday is New York..my fav City...you can get such a different range of stuff over there then here so I know I will buy some stuff. I wasn't going to buy newborn things though because like you say, so many people will buy things. Although I have been very lucky and people have asked me what I would like them to buy so...so far we have
Sister 1 - getting monitors and moses basket
Sister 2 - Random baby clothes I think
Dad - He is a Master Craftsman and will be making our own designed nursery furniture
Mum - cotbed
friend - steriliser

I feel VERY lucky!

Tabs · 21/08/2005 14:21

Ooh I love New York too, but usually buy clothes for myself whilst there, as there's so much more choice for us larger ladies (a whole floor in both Macy's and Bloomingdales!)

Was last there in Feb, and I have to recommend that if you have time you should def try and get to see either The Producers or Wicked (prequel to Wizard of Oz) on Broadway, or Beauty and the Beast (saw that a few yrs back, but think it's still playing). They are all absolutely FAB!

Sounds like you're doing really well on baby gifts. We have my best friend (she had her baby, Poppy Tinsel, this week) lending us her new moses basket, and my parents will prob buy us whatever bits we ask for for Christmas (and b'days, as I asked to 'hold my present over' this month), but am expecting to buy most other stuff ourselves. Another friend has offered us a little used cot (used for twins, but only when in the country, and they lived in Conneticut mostly), but we are condidering buying a load of matching nursery furniture, in which case we'd have to decline their kind offer.

Limited on the pressie's from siblings though, as DH is an only child, and my bro is too self absorbed to think of something useful for someone else!

Oh dear - bit of a long message this one, so better stop there!

TicTac · 21/08/2005 17:20

Tabs - We where there last Feb too!!! I love Bloomingdales and I still have a summer top I bought 8 years ago in Macys...I think it is the oldest item of clothing I have and it still looks new! Have you ever shopped in Lane Bryant? I love that store, fantastic range of high fashion clothes! Problem with buying for myself now is I don't know what size I will be post preg. I hope to get some mat stuff over there though. I find the clothes in this country to be crap by comparison.

LOL at your brother...he will have a shocker when the baby arrives wont he! You might have to be a tad forward with him!

We are going to Toronto, Niagara, Boston, Cape Cod, Marthers Vinyard, New York and Albany...we are starting to really look forward to it now!

Ok Tic Tac have you got room for me and bump in your suitcase???? your going to have such a fab time!!
Old Navy have some great kids stuff in and the quality is loads better than anything I've ever brought over here.....
Hope you've all had good weekends, dd is currently sulking as we've come back from camping and she loves being out in the open....have promised to take her again next weekend, as probably the last chance of the year, unless it's an indian summer.....

spacecadet · 21/08/2005 21:26

no indian summer on the horizon, according to the latest forecast.

TicTac · 21/08/2005 21:52

Frizbe - you might be right on the last chance of the summer to camp. I am maid of honour at my best friends wedding this Saturday and have been watching the forecast with batted breath...not looking good.

It's been quiet on here this weekend, I hope you have all had a good one, enjoyed the sunshine and laughed at all the plonkers on Xfactor on Saturday night!

TicTac - no, don't know Lane Bryant. Your itinerary sounds great - hadn't ever fancied Canada, but have read that Toronto is supposed to be really good for shopping. We tend to be more sunshine and sea people when we holiday these days. Did long weekend in New York en route to British Virgin Islands last time - that was pure heaven!!

Good news is that I had doppler success this afternoon too. Actually heard heartbeat rather than just seeing a reading on the monitor with nothing to back it up. Think Chip must have moved out the way fairly quicky though, as couldn't hold onto it for long! Does anyone know a website where I can see what range of heart rates we should expect at each stage?

Frizbe - I'd see the inability to camp as a good thing! Really not my scene - I like my luxuries too much! Did do it once though, on Scilly Isles, with university sub aqua club - it was definitely a holiday I won't forget, despite the camping, as I got to dive with seals.

TicTac · 22/08/2005 08:57

Morning All...hope everyone is feeling ok, I think everyone is over the 12 week mark now so fingers crossed we will "bloom" soon. I am in my 16th week and still waiting..LOL

Tabs - I love sun, sea, sand too! We have bought a house in Paphos, Cyprus. It's a new build and will be ready Sept '06 so we figured we will get our fill of SS&S there. I tend to like to do everything though which usually makes our holidays more tiring then relaxing

womba1 · 22/08/2005 09:39

Morning All!!
Why do i seem unable to find anytime to catch up with you guys?!?! I keep setting time aside but it just doesn't happen!
Anyway, this evening, my dh is working late, my housework will be up to date and once my ds is in bed, i'm coming on here and nothing will stop me... hopefully!
Hope you're all doing and feeling great and see you later.. Womba x

TicTac · 22/08/2005 11:45

Ok so I am thinking you have all dropped off the planet!!
Anyone out there?!

OP posts:
Tabs · 22/08/2005 11:51

Maybe we just don't want to talk to you !!

Actually just pretty busy with work this morning.

So will there be a housewarming party in Paphos then?! Are we all invited

spacecadet · 22/08/2005 11:55

why is everyone ignoring me??![tired and emotional emoticon]

Tabs · 22/08/2005 11:58

Hi SC - not ignoring you!! Do you mean re tired and washed out? I'm not as tired as I was, though didn't suffer overly to start with. I guess it's the old 'each pregnancy is different' rule. I'd imagine that having a big brood to look after already can't help. Suggest you get that dishy DH of yours to take on more of the household chores so that you can put your feet up and relax a bit.

spacecadet · 22/08/2005 12:09

lol, im feeling really bad tempered today!, dh is great and actually the older dc;s are on holiday but i feel washed out, my hairs greasy and i feel like i have the worse pmt ever! why arent i bloomin!, i feel bloomin awful more like!

teuch · 22/08/2005 13:13

hi all,

I'm having a quiet, introverted day...it's the 'original' due date of the baby we lost back in Feb at 11wks and my SIL has selfishly gone into labour today of all days...

I know that sounds a bit flippant...I just wanted today to come and go and now, typically, that won't happen...nature is cruel and ironic!

Sorry some are still feeling crappy - I have been feeling much better and people have actually started to comment on how well I look so there's hope yet
