Hello... Technically I'm due on 30 March, but the March list is already quite long and if DS was anything to go by, we'll be well into April by the time this shrimp makes an appearance (fingers crossed, touch wood, etc etc! - still at the early superstitious stage!!). Shall I start with some stats? I'm 34 (will be 35 just after birth), DH is 33. We've got one DS just turned 2.

Hope to have some thread partners soon, I'm v friendly, honest

Morning all! Hope you all feel ok today.

Well done SarahLou1 for your interview. I hope Wednesday goes well.

I'm off today to take DS3 to see Postman Pat at the Marlowe theatre (Canterbury) today. I'm really excited for him!! He loves Pat! He's gonna love it!!!

MrsQ · 06/08/2005 08:30

Postman Pat is brill - we went to see him in Bromley last weekend. Not much joining in going on from DS, but the enthralled look on his face the whole way through was worth it! Longer than I expected tho, wasn't sure he was actually going to settle down again after the interval.

Sarahlou1, its hard with the job/telling them etc. As Homsa says, you've got the rights on your side tho - just grit your teeth and brazen it out! They may be absolutely fine with it. I work PT at the mo, but about an hour's journey from where I live. The travelling, coupled with the fact that I don't really like my 'new' (he started at about the same time I announced my first pregnancy so over 2 yrs now, but I'd worked with my previous one for ages) boss means that I'm really unenthusiastic about going back after this one already. On the other hand, it was great to be familiar with the job when I first went back after maternity leave... its been YEARS since I started a brand new job now, not sure I'd be up to it straight after emotional maternity leave etc. Still, that is actually over a year away yet so I really should worry about something else!

Off to in-laws this weekend for a family party tonight. could really do with the travelling (4 hours one way ) but duty calls I guess.

Have a good weekend all.

Glad you enjoyed Pat, MrsQ! I'm quite looking forward to seeing the look on ds face when he sees a full size Pat!!!!!

I'm feeling really rough today. Woke up at 4am feeling really sick. Managed to go back to sleep but still feel sick even after eating. Went out for a meal last night and just hope it wasn't what i ate. Had chicken which i'm sure was cooked but we were sat in a dark corner so hard to tell.

sarahlou1 · 06/08/2005 15:15

Hi all - it is a p/t job I've applied for & the company is quite small, although I am going in to job share with a woman who works full time at the moment & wants to cut her hours down to 2 days next year so they won't be completely in the lurch if I leave. Am still getting quite worked up about it but have to think that we need the money & I'll just have to grit my teeth - it'll only be for 8 months or so anyway & it'll mean I'll be entitled to maternity allowance.

Hope you're feeling better baggybear. I sat down for tea last night, which I was really looking forward too, & decided I couldn't face eating so had to sit & watch DH eat both portions!! Hope it wasn't the chicken. Keep us updated on what DS thought of Postman Pat!!

Right - DD just woken up & I've promised her we'll make a cake - looking forward to cleaning that mess up!!!

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Ponka · 06/08/2005 23:51

Ooooh. Hello everybody. I'd love to join you. I found out I was pregnant at the beginning of the week.

Basics - I'm 28 and work part - time, DH is 35, DS is 14 months.

I've been ill and haven't got around to going to the doctors yet but I've worked out my due date as 6th April.

Oh dear Baggybear and SarahLou. Do you reckon you've got morning sickness already? During my last pregnancy, the word "Broccoli" made me wretch for quite a few weeks. I usually love it.

So, to update the list :-

Baggybear - due 28th march. Aged 30, DH 31, DS1 6, DS2 5, DS3 2.

MrsQ - due 30th march. Aged 34, DH33, DS 2

Beccles - due 4th April. Aged 27, DH 36, DD 2

SarahLou1 - due 6th April. Aged 33, DS 2

OnlyJust - due 7th April. DS5

Homsa - due 13th April. Aged 33, DS2

Ponka - due 6th April (probably) Aged 28, DS1

baggybear · 07/08/2005 20:17

CONGRATULATIONS Ponka!! Thank you for updating the list. Its so much easier to keep up with everyone that way.

Def suffering now with the morning sickness
Have felt pretty grotty all day. And tired - well, thats an understatement!!! Come 2pm on the button, I could fall asleep at the drop of a hat. Can't wait for kids to go back to school so I can have a nap when DS3 goes for his pm sleep...ahhhh....

sarahlou1 · 08/08/2005 15:11

Congratulations Ponka!!!

Sorry to hear you're feeling so ill baggybear - I'm getting off lightly so far, am feeling really tired & have been feeling a bit queasy in the pm but nothing major, luckily DD still has 1 - 2 hours sleep in the afternoon so everything else gets forgotten about & I get my head down for a while

Hope everyone else is feeling o.k.

MrsQ · 08/08/2005 19:11

Hi All, Hope the MS has been a better today BaggyB. Isn't it bizarre how most people seem to get it in the afternoon. I'm the same as you Sarahlou1, long may that afternoon nap continue I say! I've not actually been that bad today (altho I did doze off during Playdoh this morning!!)... but in that irritating way women have, that's just made me think everythings not right. Doc's appnt tomorrow morning, will all become 'official'. Can't wait

Homsa · 09/08/2005 08:54

Hope everything goes well with the doc's appointment today, MrsQ!
Very sorry to hear so many of you a suffering from MS already Do you think it's following a similar pattern as in your previous pregnancy/pregnancies?
I had MS in the afternoon as well during my last pregnancy, my midwife seemed to think it was because of tiredness!
I was still working f/t at the time, and would spend the last couple of hours at work sitting at my desk breathing heavily, then stumble out of the office, throw up into the bushes in the car park, drive home, throw up some more and spend the rest of the evening lying on the bed trying to keep it down... It lasted for about 6 weeks and was horrible! I really hope it won't be as bad this time, at least I will now be able to sleep when DS has his nap in the afternoon!

MrsQ · 09/08/2005 12:54

God that sounds grim, poor you - hope you don't get it as bad this time. Managed not to fall asleep whilst playing this morning, but am really glad that DS has miraculously just announced that he wanted to go to sleep 'now!' when I said he could have another half hour playing. Think I'll get my head down too.

Doc's appnt was the non-event I expected. Didn't even suggest doing an official test which I suppose is far enough with the accuracy home tests these days but still surprises me. Hopefully get my scan dates etc through soon. Had to tell DS that mummy's got a baby in her tummy already to try and stop his rather boistrous climbing / leg flinging whilst getting him dressed etc - paranoid that he's going to damage of some sort. Not sure he's understood at all tho so probably won't work!

How's everyone else today?

sarahlou1 · 09/08/2005 19:33

Hi all - hope you're all o.k.

Tried to make doctors appt today, was told can't prebook an appointment so have to ring back on Thursday am to see if I can get in on Thursday - another 2 days!!

I'm going for a trial for a job in the am & don't feel so bad about not telling them as I haven't had it confirmed yet!! (keep trying to justify it!!!)

MrsQ - having same problem with DD, tried to explain to her but she just said she wanted to put her shoes on & go to shops so we could get a baby today!! DH not helping much either, justs lets me struggle with her - typical!!!

OnlyJust · 09/08/2005 19:49

Hi all. I'm glad to see a few more have joined this thread - Congrats!
I'm still OK & not feeling too bad. Boobs aren't sore but they just feel a bit 'different' - tummy feels very bloaty though. I have no other real symptoms at the moment. Docs on Thursday for me.

Ponka · 09/08/2005 21:46

Hope it goes well, SarahLou.

I am surprised Mrs. Q. I wonder if Doc will say the same for me. I thought everyone had to have a test. Am going to call and make an appointment tomorrow.

Feeling truly exhausted today. DH tried to look after DS for 15 minutes while I had a quick sit down after he came back from work. DS decided that only Mummy would do and had a screaming tantrum. May be I should have left them to it but at 14 months, DS is starting to be really clingy and I couldn't stand the screaming. I'm going to be bad and leave all the housework/ washing up that's left and just go to bed. I've got work tomorrow. DH is out for the night at band practice and I can't stay up any longer. Nighty night!

Gipfeli · 10/08/2005 09:58

Hello,

May I join you? I've just done my test after suspecting I was pregnant for about a week. I reckon I'm due 12/13th April.

By way of an introduction - I'm 35, married to DH who is also 35 and we have a DS, very nearly 17months. We live in Switzerland - moved here with work nearly four years ago. I'm pleased to be pregnant but do have the feeling that it hasn't quite sunk it yet. We were planning another child but somehow I'd got it into my head that it would take a while and so rather suprised to find it happening so soon.

I've also just resigned from my current job because I've got a new one. However since I have to work out a 3 months notice period, I won't start the new job until November. I reckon I'll get about 4.5 months worth of work in before I go on maternity leave. Probably just be long enough for me to get to learn the ropes, then I'll be gone. Oh well.

Looking forward to getting to know you all over the coming months.

OnlyJust · 10/08/2005 17:55

No, I remember when I had my son - I was amazed that the Doc just said OK when I said I was preggers ! No 'official' tests or anything
I kept thinking "What if I've got it wrong!!"

Congrats Gipfeli !

At 38, am I the oldest one on this thread !?

sarahlou1 · 10/08/2005 19:19

hi all - hope you're o.k.

Thought I'd keep you updated on the job front - trial session went o.k. this am will find out by the end of the week.

When I went to docs when I was expecting my first she didn't do a test & said the shop bought ones were just as accurate - remember going for the first scan & thinking I was going to make a right fool of myself & get there & there would be nothing there. Didn't have any symptoms & neither doc nor midwife at booking in appointment did anything to confirm it.

colditz · 10/08/2005 23:06

Hello, I think I am due April 6th, and have a two year old ds.

I am soooo tired! I am shattered all the time, but other than that, I don't feel too bad this time round. With ds, I lost at least half of every meal I ate for 14 weeks.

I have my Gp appointment tomorrow, so hopefully should get it all confirmed he will try to tell me that I am 8 weeks pg, but I know the only time I could have conceived, you know things like that when you have a two year old, don't we ladies

colditz · 10/08/2005 23:07

Oh, and I'm 25.

baggybear · 10/08/2005 23:48

HI everyone.

I'm really sorry to bring bad news but I will posting here for the last time as I had a miscarriage yesterday.

Its really difficult to do this so will keep it short.

I wish everyone of you all the very best and hope you have happy and healthy pregnancies. Good luck. XXXXXXXXX

Oh baggybear, I don't know what to say, I was hoping no-one on this thread would have to post this kind of bad news.
So sorry about your loss

sarahlou1 · 11/08/2005 17:20

Really sorry to hear your news baggybear - will be thinking of you and your family xxxx

OnlyJust · 11/08/2005 19:19

So sorry Baggybear
I went through it in Feb - there's not a lot anyone can say really but there is so much support on here & that helps.

baggybear · 11/08/2005 19:26

Thanks everyone. Good luck to you all. Perhaps I will post here again when you are all a bit nearer your "time" and wish you more luck then. Love to you all xxxxxxx Bye for now xxxxx

MrsQ · 11/08/2005 21:45

I know everyone will find it hard to be the next poster after Baggybear's news so perhaps I should as I started the thread. Baggybear, if you do check in again at any point, please know that we're all thinking about you and wish you and your family every future happiness. xx

I'm off to a wedding tomorrow and DS is staying with my mum til Saturday lunchtime. I'm really looking foward to spending a bit of peaceful time with DH, catching up on a bit of sleep and really taking a chance to do some bonding with 'the bump'. With all that's involved with chasing after a toddler 24/7, I don't feel like I've done much of it this time around and (esp in light of Baggy's news) I feel like this will be a really nice time to do that.

Hope everyone has a happy and healthy weekend x
