Hi again everybody,

Really good to be part of this forum.

I told my mum on Saturday that I was expecting and that my due date was in January. She took one look at me and said that she thought I was much further on as my boobs were sooo much bigger than normal and also she thinks that I look a lot heavier.
This has put me in a bit of a panic. My stomach is a bit bigger but I assumed it was just bloating. Does anybody know if bloating is a normal symptom at this early stage?
We have been trying since October so theoretically I guess I could be further on but I have been having my normal heavy periods. Does anybody know if you can have these and be pregnant at the same time?
Wish my scan date would hurry up. I'm probably just being paranoid but she has really got me thinking. Mums!! :-)

DeeLL · 10/05/2010 21:25

I hope you don't mind if I join you here, EDD 31 December but as it's my first it will probably be a bit later? Also, the December group seem way ahead of where I am! Just found out this weekend, very excited but no idea what to expect!
Wishing you all happy healthy pregnancies! I've added myself below and will change date (hopefully to Jan) once I've had first scan.

Hi PrincessAli I am a first timer so not speaking from experience, but I am also very bloated and my boobs have got huge (need to buy new bra's already) and I'm only about 5 and half weeks, I have just been assuming that everyone's bodies react sightly differently I'm trying to make the most of the bigger boobs, DH really pleased!

PrincessAli · 10/05/2010 22:15

Thank you berrycravings. You have made me feel better.

I know inside myself that I'm just being paranoid, but I'm such a worrier and over-thinker.

Thanks for your reassurance. It probably won't be the last time I need it. :-)

xx

mamasunshine · 11/05/2010 09:54

Hello Hope everyone is doing well? I've been completely obsessing the last 2 days about mc, had another very faint bfp on Sun so was thinking I was having a chemical pregnancy. But did another test this morning and the line is much stronger NOTE TO SELF*stop acting like a loon

mummychicken - loving the new tidy list!

hardygirl - My symptoms have lessoned a bit too, and went for a run this morning and feel much better energy wise. I'm still feeding ds2 as well, no sore or big boobs here. I tandem fed during 2nd pregnancy and don't think my boobs "felt" pregnant until nearer the end of 1st trimester.

partyofseven - I'm impressed, 15 weeks!! I have a 15month gap with my 2 and it's great Obviously with it's very difficult/stressful bits, but all worth it!

due1111 - Think it's very normal to worry about mc as sadly it is so common. I don't think you can get an early scan unless you've had previous problems e.g mc. But you can have one done privately...I'm considering it.

princessali and berrycravings - In my 1st pregnancy my boobs were massive from about 5/6 weeks , and my dh loved it

Well have a million and one errands to do today so must get off this computer, I'm on here far too much

PrincessAli · 11/05/2010 10:19

Thanks mamasunshine. As somebody who has always had bee stings for boobs, it feels so alien to have a cleavage at long last. x

Partyofseven · 11/05/2010 10:33

thanks mamasunshine

I have a 14mth gap between dds 2&3 as well so I know what to expect to a certain degree,

Keep fingers crossed AF doesn't arrive on friday, will keep lurking until i'm sure, x

seablue · 11/05/2010 12:34

mamasunshine - I'm with you on being a loon! I did another test this morning as was convinced that breasts getting less rather than more sore = chemical pregnancy! Got a very strong line, but now I remember that evil little thing I read that says that even if you have HCG in your blood, doesn't mean it's OK. So - we can't win. We just have to surrender control. Where's the chocolate?

stillsurprised · 11/05/2010 13:35

PrincessAli first time round I had huge boobs right from the start and had to buy new bras almost straight away, I think the bloating is fairly normal as well.

mamasunshine I was slightly worried about not having sore boobs at all this time but I only stopped feeding DS a couple of months ago so maybe it's a similar effect to tandem feeding. I hope so!

I still feel like a bit of a fraud as I'm practically symptom free and still worried this isn't a good sign. My tests came in a twin pack so I'll be doing the other one in a few days time. seablue we can be a flock of loons together!

verycherry82 · 11/05/2010 16:20

Hello all,

I have an early scan on Thursday and am a bit worried. The GP referred me as my PCOS means that we can't be sure of my dates but I know that I can't be any further along than 5 weeks at the most and am a bit worried that it won't show anything!

Will there be a heart beat? Or is it too soon??

Any experiences of early scans would be much appreciated!

deedee321 · 11/05/2010 16:37

No experience verycherry, sorry, but will be interested to hear others' replies. I have booked a private early scan to hopefully set my mind at ease, but will be 8 weeks then.
This is a great thread! Lots of us on it

NickiSue · 11/05/2010 16:41

Hi verycherry82
I too have pcos. Is this your first? I had an early scan with my first (which sadly didnt work out) and also with DS (now nearly four). Both of these were internal scans with the purpose of seeing how far on I was etc.
If I remember correctly the heartbeat is usually after 6weeks (someone correct me if I'm wrong!). I too am waiting for my early scan, I should get a call tomorrow for the date for mine. I too am 5+ (according to the clearblue predictor preg test only)- my last period was November!
Try not to worry if it is slightly too early on Thursday, (easily said I know!) they will make you another scan date for a week or so afterward if they suspect it's too early.

I'll be thinking of you and looking out for your post- I'll be posting the same no doubt in a few days when I can my early scan date x

verycherry82 · 11/05/2010 16:42

I'm thinking of asking if I can move it back a couple of weeks so that I'll be 7ish weeks. It's not because I'm risk of a mc or anything like that so i think i would rather wait a couple of weeks and have the chance of hearing the heart beat.

I think I would be very tempted by a private early scan if I hadnn't been referred to the EPU.

I agree, a great thread so far!! x

CLB1 · 11/05/2010 17:39

Hay,

Thanks for all your comments.
verycherry82 I had the scan yesterday due to cramps, to find out that my calculations are 2 weeks out which makes me about 5 weeks and all we could see was a millimeter bean, It was nice to know that there is something there though and that I'm not imagining it. Booked in again for 24th so should be about 7 weeks then and hopefully see something more, maybe even a heartbeat

I'm feeling so sick all of the time though, its playing havock at work, had to have yesterday off sick but I don't want anyone at work to know but I think there guessing especially with the time off for the midwife and hospital appt

Anyone got any advising on hiding it from people?

maddyj · 11/05/2010 19:31

'verycherry82' I had an NHS early internal scan yesterday. The could show me the heartbeat which was very exciting and confirmed that I am between 5-6 weeks. My next scan will be the dating scan at roughly 12 weeks then I plan to have a private gender scan at 16 weeks.
Feeling very low and nauseous today- rally getting me down. Feel irritable wih everything and everyone too- keep thinking hope this doesn't last the whole nine months..how bloody miserable!!!

mummychicken · 11/05/2010 19:47

Grinning Imp I'll be 39!!! when DC arrives!

thank you for the responses! I'm going to keep the appointment rather than moving it back. It will be nice to know there's something there as I don't really have any symptoms apart from feeling really tired and not being able to face a cup of tea!

Nickisue - This is my first! My PCOS isn't nearly bad as it used to be, I think because I lost quite a bit of weight recently but my cycles were between 40 and 45 days so dating is quite hard.

CLB1 - I haven't really any tips to hide it from work. Maybe say you have a tummy bug?

when is everybody thinking of telling work?

mamasunshine · 12/05/2010 09:54

Hello

partyofseven - I have everything crossed for you

seablue - I'm handing the galaxy round, want some?!

verycherry82 - good luck with your scan tomorrow, I'll be on in the evening to check it all went well

CLB1 - no advice for keeping it hidden really. It's very difficult, apart from pretending to have the usual illnesses/migranes/food poisoning etc.

I really don't know what to do about telling work, I only started at the begining of this year and there's no-one that will be able to cover my 'role'. Therefore, they will have to hire and train someone before I leave. They will also need to find new offices in order to do this. It's a new, small company but getting lots of work in very quickly. So I'm feeling very bad about leaving them in the lurch Arghhh!

I'm contemplating booking an early scan for 8 weeks just so I can tell them 1 month earlier.

Also freaking out a lot bit about having 3 under 3's, how on earth am I going to cope/get about/get them all to nursery and me to work on time??!! Also I've been pregnant/breastfeeding straight for over 2 years already, this will make it 5 years straight without a break bf Sorry I know I'm very lucky and they'll all be worth it, but it's just soooo exhausting and consuming. Think dh will have a vasectomy after this birth !!

verycherry82 · 12/05/2010 10:14

Obviously only me who can?t keep off mumsnet even though I?m supposed to be working! I must try and concentrate more!

I am in a similar position with work. I started at the beginning of December and there isn?t anybody else who really does what I do. I was thinking of tellling my line manager today as I can?t think of an excuse to take time off tomorrow afternoon and don?t really want to lie!

Mama sunshine ? I think you are very brave to even consider having 3 under 3?s and although it will be hard work, it will also be so rewarding and the children will grow up to be really close as they will be similar ages.

CLB1 · 12/05/2010 11:01

Hay thanks anyway, The problem at work is everyone is saying "oh you shouldn't be here if your not well" etc.

Although I read somewhere that if you snack during the night and have breakfast ready in bed when you wake up and dont get out of bed straight away it helps. I had a buscuit at 1am and then 3.30am and then bread and butter at 7.30am... got out of bed at 9am (I'm on lates this week) I feel loads better this morning, just queesy and not actually sick, wondering how it will work when im on at 8am next week

Verycherry82 - I'm glas your keeping the scan, it gives you confirmation, makes you feel alittle bit better about things.

I have told my team lead at work due to having to have appt off work but trying not to tell anyone else just yet after last time, I got to 8weeks before, so once past that I may consider telling. I work for a large company who will have no probs replacing me, although at last count there are 5 pregnant women at our office
