well done all you knitters, my mum has started trying to knit a teddy bear for our little one but she said it ended up looking like something out of a horror movie - I'm guessing that means she hasn't hit her knitting stride yet Smile. Apparently she said to my 4 year old nephew, "nevermind the next one i make will be better" to which he replied "i doubt it granny". Charming!

travispickles · 28/08/2010 16:47

Hi all - well, back from holiday which was lovely, great to hear all your news... Had scan yesterday and over the moon as all was well and... it's a little girl! Don't know about any of you but I was close to passing out with the worry on the way in, thinking of all the things that could be wrong. Did shed a tear or two at the lo turning round then lying with hand behind head and mouth open... My bump has started to get a bit sore though and suddenly seems massive. Anyone else have that? Am 19-6. Also found out have anterior placenta which is why I haven't felt much in the way of kicks so that is a relief. Lovely to hear news from all...

readyornot2011 · 28/08/2010 18:45

Glad to hear everyones scans are going well

Hannah1890 I'm Oxford based too, are you planning a JR birth? Just been looking at the online tour

mummychicken · 28/08/2010 20:53

21 weeks
I'm a (poor) knitter too!!

I knitted DS a couple of jumpers but haven't knitted for this LO yet as I don't know what flavour it is and don't like (neutral) yellow!

Beginning to feel REALLY fat. I'm still just about fitting into my normal clothes but don't fell ready for maternity stuff yet.

BubbaAndBump · 28/08/2010 21:10

Hey ladies, I haven't been on for a few months as I'm also on a due-late-Jan thread, but thought I'd pop in and say hi. Can't quite remember how preggers I am, but due 19th Jan so must be about 19 weeks. I don't have my "20-week" scan Hmm till 8th Sept and not finding out the flavour. Kicking away though, the little bugger darling :o

WalkTheDog · 29/08/2010 11:42

berrycravings hope pain goes quickly, good to hear that it isn't anything to do with baby. Did you get your wool?

Loving all the knitters - just aswell it's going to be a boy Hannah :o

Hannah ask for gaviscon prescription for you heartburn

Macmomo don't know anything about heart palpation's link with iron, but know that if you are taking iron don't take it same time as tea, try with orange juice helps absorbtion. Also make sure you have enough B12 (think more prob if veggie/vegan). Just think you might fit that tent!!! Shock

splodge aren't kids so funny

congrats on scan and the girl travispickles. My bump has suddenly expanded and it's been a little sore. I've got upper rectus ab split - not sure about lower abs, kinda difficult to test. Think the increase bump and me being shortish hasn't helped. Didn't know that about anterior placents, I have that too. Haven't felt any kicks, but some gurgling.

mummychicken can't believe you are still in normal clothes!!!! I've been in mat jeans since very early on and I've not put on much weight. Can still wear my tops, but with a big bump. Picked up a cheap supermarket top yesterday, which is non pg but it looks like a mat top it is so baggy, wouldn't wear it if not pg incase people thought I was Wink

nice to see you bubbaandbump

My poor OH seems to be suffering sympathetic pg symptoms (which I don't have)- he's got back pain with sciatica and also a very irritable bladder, which makes him feel the need to go to toilet almost constantly. Hopfully he can get GP appt tomorrow.

FunkyMonkey1983 · 30/08/2010 09:58

23 weeks today!

I was trying out my pregnancy yoga DVD at the weekend as I had been getting sore, stiff hips and sleeping was becoming uncomfortable. Yoga seems to have really helped.

Has anyone else got LOADS of baby stuff already? I've not bought much, apart from a snowsuit and a couple of blankets but family keep buying me stuff and my sister had her baby in January and is giving me all her stuff too. Not that I'm complaining, of course, it's saving me a fortune!

WalkTheDog · 30/08/2010 17:35

Slowly getting what we need, some hand me downs, some 2nd hand (some things 2nd hand but unused). Very few shops around here so need to plan ahead.

Haven't tried my yoga dvd yet.

Saw MW today, a different one as mine was called out. She was lovely. She had fun chasing baby to get long enough listen to heartbeat.

OH saw GP and had to get blood and urine tested so he is def going thro pg with me!

berrycravings · 30/08/2010 18:10

Glad to see more knitters out there, walkthedog yep I've got my wool and started my blanket, is a multicoloured wool, green, blue, yellow and grey. Very pleased with how its going to far! Hope your OH is okay glad to hear he's having to pee in a cup and have blood taken too!

mummychicken also Impressed you're still fitting in normal clothes. I cried when I tried to put a skirt on which I thought was one of my bigger ones and could not get it over my growing thighs and hips Blush

I love buying baby things, mothercare nr us is having a relocation sale so got some clothes with 75% off today. Very excited as off to buy the cot and chanaging table on Friday at Ikea (I love that shop).

Was waiting so impatiently a few weeks ago for kicks, not seem to be constant and he loves kicking me in the night!

mummychicken · 30/08/2010 20:27

Just to make you all jealous - not only am I still in normal clothes (although struggling to do the button up so am using a belly band) but I have lost inches on my bum and thighs.Grin

However, the down size of this is that I just look fat and not pregnant!

superparty · 30/08/2010 21:43

Hi all, sorry its been a while,

me and baby no6 are doing well, with having baby no5 on the move crawling etc, i completely forget that i'm pg most of the the time so nearly half way through already.

ladybuzz good news on results, I had bloods took2 wks ago but not heard nothing yet so no news is good news eh!

Get you mummychicken, I still weigh the same now at 20 wks as i did when i started, but am in maternity clothes as my bump is big.

Im ok on the girls clothes as only had no5 in jan this year, but if its a boy its a whole new wardrobe as my only other boy is 17Hmm

hope everyone is ok

I'm going to the chippy for a scollop muffin, back soon.

Hannah1890 · 31/08/2010 10:21

Hi readyornot yes planning on giving birth at the JR, We live literally across the road so makes the most sense for us, but also have heard that very positive things which makes me feel better. Where abouts are you thinking of?

travispickles Ive felt the same with my bump, seems like the past two weeks its been growing so fast, from basically nothing to a real bump, been having a few pains at the sides and bottom of my stomach which the midwife put down to stretching of the muscles whcih definately makes sense. Quite enjoying finally having a bump to show off at the moment though.

I also finally felt baby kick this weekend!! Was so confused when first felt it, my bf was convinced something was wrong from the look on my face (intense confusion and concentration I imagine) , but i didnt want to say until I was sure, but since felt him on Friday have felt him everyday. Very happy and relieved, so nice to be reminded he's there.

mummychicken · 01/09/2010 20:14

21weeks +4

Okay - had to admit defeat today and put on a pair of XL mens shorts (attractive) but at least I now look pregnant rather than fat. Back to work next week after 6 weeks off (yes - teacher)and I'm going to have to break out the proper maternity stuff. Contemplating wearing the "Under-construction" T-shirt

superparty · 01/09/2010 21:31

Hi all

Speak of the devil, and my blood results turned up today, 1:210 just for my age, but then combined, it changed to 1:1000 so considered low risk, wasn't particularly worried but it is a relief.

Ha mummy come join us bumpies (not fatties) in the maternity dept.

readyornot2011 · 02/09/2010 08:37

Hannah Yes me too, I hope (we may have to move before jan depending on DH's work) Keen to have her at the JR as they have been so great and friendly so far, plus as you say they have a great reputation. Plus my DH likes the idea of her being born in Oxford (I'm from the north, he's from London so a bit of a compromise).

Have been reading up on spires (midwife led) verses the consultant led unit on level 5. Think I'll go for spires if possible....

FunkyMonkey I have got loads of stuff too, bought lots of clothes at the summer car boots, at 20p an item for stuff thats been worn once or twice you cant go wrong. Also got a travel system off ebay. Parents in law have bought something too, but its a surprise Confused

GinLane · 03/09/2010 19:04

mummychicken I like the sound of an 'under construction' t-shirt - have you found one in the shops or online? Do let us know where.

All those that have not yet tried Yoga do give it a go. Great for backpain and general niggles...and deep relaxation too. If you have a local antenatal yoga class do try to get a place. At mine we get tea and cake afterwards and 'graduates' or new mums come in with their babies and share birth stories. Its a great support.

mummychicken · 03/09/2010 20:28

GinLane A friend gave me some of her maternity clothes which included the Tshirt- The label says Blooming Marvalous which is mother care (I think)

WalkTheDog · 04/09/2010 19:57

Evening all. Been away for a few days at my parents. Collected the buzz and picked up a few others bits. My pelvis has been much better while away, wondering if it's as I almost did no stair climbing.

Saw a very cute bodysuit that said "my daddy loves me more than football", OH is a huge footie fan, didn't buy it as we don't need any more clothes. And there was a "mummy loves me more than chocolate" one too.

CardyMow · 05/09/2010 12:41

21 weeks

Sorry it's been a while, but all is well. Had a scan at 18 wks, to look in detail at the heart (as my DD has a heart problem), but they could only see 3 chambers of the heart, so I was quite worried. They did another scan at 20 weeks, and thankfully the heart is absolutely fine, it was just too small before to be seen clearly. As my hospital doesn't tell you what flavour you are getting, we went for a private 4d scan on Friday when I was 20+5, and we found out we are having another little boy! We got to see his toes, and his eyes opening and closing, and his hair, and even him sticking his tongue out at us!! I haven't been this far pregnant in any of my 4 pregnancies since my 3rd child, who is now almost 7 yrs old. I'm starting to get really excited now and buy stuff, but I still can't wait to be 24 weeks, when baby will be classed as 'viable'.

CardyMow · 05/09/2010 12:42

Oh and I have SPD and the most eeeeevil heartburn ever, which is probably explained by the fact that little man already has a full head of hair.

MinnieMooo · 05/09/2010 15:10

Hi Everyone, haven been on for ages but wondered if anyone was at Watford hospital? I am moving in October and am currently at UCH which I love and dont really want to change unless I have to, but if I do the nearest will be Watford so if anyone has any info I would be grateful.
Had scan 2 weeks ago and found out it is a girl. DH said 'you can stop pretending you dont mind what it is now you have got what you wanted!' I really didnt mind but I have to admit I am delighted its a girl. So is my mother in law - she gave me a huge pile of pink clothes. Her only other grandchild is a boy of 10 so she has waited a long time for this!

Loudlass re-heartburn. I don't have it too badly this time (YET) but with DS it was horrendous. Gaviston didn't work and I was constantly chewing tums. I found the only thing that worked was a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda in a glass of warm water. It was foul to drink BUT really worth it as a few minutes later I would do a very satisfying, manly, loud burp which released the pain Grin

Jobi1 · 05/09/2010 20:34

Hi everyone Smile

23+1

Glad everyone is mostly ok. I get heartburn really bad and have found Rennie Soft Chews have worked well in both pregnancies, and they don't taste too awful either.

Re pelvic pain, I have been sleeping mostly on my back propped up on pillows which has helped loads. Bearing in mind a heavy almost 3 year old and a desk job, I'm delighted because it was horrendous a few weeks ago.

Feeling pretty tired and down today, just getting over a yucky cold and now our little boy is ill, he's been throwing up all afternoon poor little love. Hate it when he is ill Sad

Aside from that we are quite chuffed because we saw the consultant on friday and we are booked in for a section on 28th December Grin We're pleased because it means we will have a special Christmas with our DS and then new baby home for New Year, yay!

Hope everyone has a good week x

kktpj · 06/09/2010 10:45

Really delighted to find this thread!
Due 5 jan tho have never gone full term before - twins 12 yrs ago born at 32 wks and dd almost 14 yrs ago at 38.
Three miscarriages have left us incredibly elated to get to 22 wks now but not counting our chickens yet. Both of us 40 so oldies really.
Heartburn truly awful, hip pain at night and breathlessness regularly. Making the most of 3 teenagers (well almost) to skivvy for me and a husband who is v happy for me not to work as long as I don't make his life a misery by moaning!
Have had triple test which showed me high risk but 20 week scan eleviated many fears.
Good luck to all of us!

Hi all, welcome kktpj.

Just back from our scan and everything is fine phew! I was a bit nervous this time that something might be wrong but all good. Baba did a nice yawn and stretch for us and stuck its foot up over its head, show off!

We had a student in for our scan which meant we got everything explained in great detail - fantastic! Our next mission is to move house which I'm NOT looking forward to but needs to be done. ho hum.
