Fio I am currently looking at double number 5!
So far I have hated every single one!

My list so far

Maclaren Techno XT - lovely to push but I struggled to get in anywhere with it!

Cosatto Duet lite - hated this with a passion and only had it 2 weeks, DS was quite heavy and I couldn't get it up curbs or round corners.

Babystyle Aruba??? v compact tandem, had the same problems as the duet and although the back was fine when DS was tiny i doubt it would have done when he was bigger.

Obaby Xi (similar to phil and teds) by far the best BUT I'm not overly keen on 3 wheelers, I don't like the little ones on the bottom and it isn't that nice to push with the toddler on the top.

I am currently looking for a Mountain buggy urban double so I can have the carrycot for the baby, its also sligtly narrower then the XT.

HTH - I really don't think there is a 'perfect double' but this is my experience!

ginlane I had bad cramps with DS1, my MW advised to drink milk and it did seem to help.

hopingcat we are also going to find out with this one and we haven't before, I can't believe how excited I am - I really was happy not to know the first twice!

WalkTheDog · 18/08/2010 11:26

welcome mammak and fiolondon.

As I've been feeling better I feel like doing some exercise again - have been walking the dog throughout but not done anything else. Did the wii yesterday, picked quite a few squat type exercise and was horrified how short of time I can sustain a squat. Also ordered a couple of dvds which arrived today, as the Davina one arrived first tried that one, but as I have read it is still a bit easy for this stage. The other one looks a bit tougher.

I think I got a kick yesterday, if it wasn't not quite sure what else would feel like a huge thump from inside my tummy!

OH's work are letting him have the day off to come to scan next week :o, he is a teacher so we weren't sure, but since it is about a 2 1/2 hour drive each way we really need to make it a whole day trip. It'll be the first time I have seen the route to the delivery hospital - not sure if that is a good or bad thing.

mamasunshine · 18/08/2010 12:16

Hello everyone Smile
jobi1 - is it SPD you have? Poor thing, must be awful.
salado - thanks Smile ds2 had an ear infection, took him to dr's after his 5 hr nap as he had a temp of 39.9 Shock Recovered now though. Yes, the reovery from c section is a pain, I had a very bad time after my EMCS - I wasn't ok until 12/13 wks post section! I couldn't manage with the boy's if that happens so just hoping for another VBAC! How handy having you mother be a Dr!
berrycravings - unfortunately I don't think everyone gets that 'glowing' stage, or sorm it's very short lived, like me! I 'glow' from about 28-34wks! But I know that I'll feel so much better once baby arrives Smile
sarrita - my bf is a capricorn, she's very fiesty too Smile but lovely. As for birthdays in January, I think it'll just be up to us all to makesure that it's celebrated seperately Hmm!
Welcome mammak and fiolondon - I have a phil and teds and must say I mostly love it! The only downsides are that it's heavy and the tire has punctured a couple of times. It also acts as a single, and you can go running with it, has a carrycot that goes underneath for 1st 6months.
hopingcat+3 - enjoy scan tomorrow!
walkthedog - well done on starting some exercise Smile I'm still too tired Confused 2 1/2 hours to hospital Shock Is that wher you'll be having baby? Great news that your dh can go with you!

Well we've had a very busy, long weekend...rest of wk will be busy with visitors etc too. Looking forward to Sunday as I may get a lie-in Hmm! Still feeling tired and fat, can't wait to actually look pregnant now and not just chubby! Having some more acupuncture tomorrow night - ouch! Looking for a cleaner, but not having much luck...any ideas on how I find one? I seem to be calming down a little bit, although I did go mad with dh last night for interupting my story I was telling him, with him being a know-it-all Blush May try and go to aqua natal tomorrow...someone give me a kick up the bum please Grin

Jobi1 · 18/08/2010 13:50

Hi guys, been a few days since I popped in. I haven't seen anyone over pelvis yet, its a lot better when Im not at work, so just getting on with it at the moment. Worst at night though, so not good for sleep. Might mention it to doc on friday, see if they're interested.

I get a bit of cramp too, its horrid, will try the milk!

Re "glowing" everyone keeps telling me I look well, which makes me laugh when most of the time I feel crummy!

Been getting chronic headaches, MammaK how do you handle yours?

Re buggies, my little boy will be 3 when little one arrives, so I'm planning to do without. I'm thinking a combination of baby carrier and buggy board should see us through.

salado I had an EMCS and wasn't too bad after really to be honest, going for an elective one this time. The c section was the least bad bit really!!

Doing next to nothing exercise wise, hey ho. Too darned tired. Am managing yoga though, so better than nothing!

WalkTheDog · 18/08/2010 16:17

mamasunshine yep 2 1/2 hrs to delivery hospital, there is a delivery unit at hospital nearer us, it has pretty much no facilities, so really recommended that most go to main hospital, MW said esp as I get very car sick, travelling facing backward in an ambulance if I am having any problems will not be a good idea Shock, going to be bad enough travelling as a passenger in our car. Also need to aim to leave our house during the day so we can get the ferry otherwise it adds another 40 mins. MW suggests checking in with them and then they'll advise if I should head up the road or not. Trying not to think about it for another few months.

re cleaner, anyone I know who has got a good one has done it by word of mouth, heard of a few who have poached the cleaner away from someone else.

Jobi1 I've had a return of headaches over the last two days, had them earlier on, haven't really found much helps. Try to lie down somewhere dark if can. Keep fluids up - someone recommended you drink isotonic drinks (not tried that) as they help better than water.

LadyBuzz · 18/08/2010 18:20

My MW just phoned to say I have an increased risk for neural tube defects and I have to go for a scan tomorrow to check Sad i'm scared and hoping it is a false alarm.
She did say I would know either way tomorrow.

Jobi1 · 18/08/2010 18:39

Hi Ladybuzz, sorry to hear that, you must be worried. Is that from a blood test? I'm sure the scan will be fine & they're just being cautious. Big hug, will be thinking of you xx

jobi yes from the quad blood test.
It will just be a precaution that they have to do. I hope hope hope it will be ok

mamasunshine · 18/08/2010 19:28

Oh ladybuzz - poor you, how worrying. I'll keep everything crossed that all will be well x

deedee321 · 18/08/2010 20:22

The very best of luck tomorrow Ladybuzz, will be thinking of you, hope your mind is put at rest x

littlehuman · 18/08/2010 21:22

ladybuzz hoping your little bump would be fine!

WalkTheDog · 18/08/2010 22:04

all the best for tomorrow ladybuzz

thanks fiolondon, MW did say I could have birth in unit. Not keen on home birth and OH is a def noway. Issue really is that if anything up with me or baby we really are too far away from any decent help. Almost everyone I know who lives in this part just accepts that the travel is part of the delivery! Am jealous though that SIL has a 6min at rush hour trip to hospital. We need to go to Inverness, if we lived just a little further south, we would need to go to Paisley (near Glasgow), and that is worse, just as long, but much busier roads.

sarrita · 18/08/2010 23:17

ladybuzz fingers crossed (and all other limbs/digits) it comes up as nothing. Good luck.

Jobi1 · 19/08/2010 09:03

Hope you egt on ok today ladybuzz, let us know.

I tried sleeping on my back supported by loads of pillows last night and whilst it was a bit odd it was a lot less painful. So if I can get used to it that may help the pelvis and hips a lot, which is good.

Got home last night to a letter cancelling the docs appointment on Friday, I'm gutted! Still got scan, thank goodness, but doc is now in 3 weeks time Sad

So, good and bad as usual!

LadyBuzz · 19/08/2010 12:11

thanks for all of the support ladies, the scan went well and didn't show up anything obvious. I have to go back next week to double check as they prefer to do them when they are a bit bigger but so far so good. I'm very very relieved!

Jobi1 · 19/08/2010 12:22

That's really good news, thanks for letting us know! Big hug xx

SalaDo · 19/08/2010 12:45

Good news Ladybuzz - Hope the next scan is good too :)

Have a terrible cold here . . total nightmare! Cant breathe :(

Hope everyone is ook :) . . Re Cramps I have to get up and stand on the cold kitchen floor! Lovely!

mamasunshine · 19/08/2010 14:57

ladybuzz - great news Smile
salado - poor you, I had a bad virus a few wks ago, and some of the cold symptoms are lingering Hmm Hope u feel better soon

littlehuman · 19/08/2010 17:28

20+6 weeks

ladybuzz so happy for u
what a relieve!

as for me, had my 20(well 21) weeks scan today, and everything is ok and we r having a girl! i am absolutly bursting with joy , excitment! i can now picture "little human" better and say "she" instead of it or whatever! whoooo hoooo!!
sorry i had to explode somewhere so i do it here if you dont mind.... :o

sarrita · 19/08/2010 17:54

Congratulations littlegirl!!! That is very exciting news.

Glad to here all's well ladybuzz.

Heard the heart with the mw today with DS. She listened as a favour; they don't listen anymore. Apparently if she couldn't find it the hospital don't want any time wasters coming up to get checked out!!!!

Gentle kickuptheass for mamsunshine. Although I am sure you don't need it with your other little ones to chase after. I bet you are a in much much better shape than you think. Or the rest of us for that matter.

LadyBuzz · 19/08/2010 18:52

congratulations litlehuman thats fab news how lovely Grin

sarrita Shock Shock at the MWs not listening to stop time wasters god help anyone who has an actual problem!
Nice that you got to hear yours though!

splodge77 · 19/08/2010 19:23

congrats littlehuman that is so exciting!

Salado i have a stinker of a cold as well (my 2nd during this pregnancy grrrr) it is no fun esp not being able to take any drugs!!

Can i ask something a bit personal? Does anyone have any tips on how to do pelvic floor exercises? I am already finding I sometimes 'leak' a bit when i sneeze or cough and am worried to be like this at this stage. Have read about how to do the exercises but i'm not sure i'm doing them right, i can only sort of twitch the muscles 'down below' and cannot hold them for any length of time - as the books say you are meant to do. Midwife wasn't particularly helpful when i mentioned it to her at my last appointment but perhaps i should call them again and ask for advice...

2 weeks til my scan. can't wait! xx

crumblequeen · 19/08/2010 19:46

Congratulations littlehuman and ladybuzz - both great news!

I have had 16wk midwife appointment now and she was very supportive of my desire to request an ELCS after reading my notes so I am seeing a consultant after 20 week scan - my thoughts are mostly on that at the moment so will be very pleased if I can get agreement then so I can stop thinking about it! I won't go into detail here but had very bad birth experience the first time and still have ongoing problems 2.5 yrs later - I think I am in the minority though if anyone is getting worried about birth!
