OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi all well i done the quiz and it said it will be a boy which is no surprise 2 me .Just hope they will tell me at my nxt scan.

umf · 25/05/2010 13:35

Rinnyx I reckon that quote is still referring to CTF. Families on less than £16,190 a year used to get 500 instead of the usual 250, now they'll get 100 instead of 50. Next year no-one gets anything towards CTFs.

Glad to hear more good news from people, Jfly, that must have been very worrying and stressful, glad all is OK.

Pidgin, I got 60% girl on the quiz, so a pretty close call, funny because thinking back to previous pregnancies I had far more definite boy or girl symptoms according to the quiz, and it would have been right. This time I've had a real mixture!

Lovely neat bump babybean, have linked again (can't help myself ), think you maybe have to make sure you're not logged in before linking here

TMI alert. I've suddenly developed the most terrible thrush for the first time ever, apparently it's very common in pregnancy, probably not helped with wearing thick tights to a wedding in Saturday's heat, using bubble bath and eating rather a lot of sweets. Anyone would think I was actually trying to breed the stuff! Thankfully canesten cream (not the tablets) can be used in pregnancy.

Rinnyx · 25/05/2010 13:45

oh umf I do hope so x
I was literally sick with worry this morning (TMI sorry)

I am seeing my midwife in a hour so maybe she just might know something, I'm not one to buy OTT priced things, I am a bargain hunter and the £500 will/would be such a big help I mean DD's bike was her only real christmas gift as it was not cheap another reason I was so mad someone stole it

Lets hope todays app goes well and we hear a good stong heartbeat, I need some happy news today

umf · 25/05/2010 13:58

Good luck Rinnyx!! Who do you apply to for the pre-baby grant? Is it a Surestart/Homestart thing? £500 a big difference.

Booboobedoo · 25/05/2010 15:25

Great to hear your good news smokeybacon. Our only set of twins are fighting fit!

Sorry to hear about your DD's bike Rinnyx - must have been really upsetting for you.

Thanks for all the good wishes for DS. He's still really poorly, and I haven't left the house since we got home from hospital on Sunday. He's a little better than yesterday, but still really ill.

Still, better now than when the baby comes!

nomoremagnolia · 25/05/2010 17:42

Rinny Sorry to hear about DD's bike The one they're scrapping is the Child Trust Fund payments (£250 at birth and £250 at age 7 for parent to put into savings for the child and can't be accessed until the child is 18 by which time it would have been worth approx £1200) Are you thinking of the Health in Pregnancy Grant? That's £250 (I think both the CTF and the HiP have higher amounts for low-income familes, but I'm not sure what those higher amounts are) I haven't heard anything about the HiP grant being cut though, and you can apply for it at 25 weeks so mayb that would be able to go towards DD's bike? Unless it's worth claiming no your insurance for it?

nomoremagnolia · 25/05/2010 17:45

Sorry Rinny it's only £190 for HiP - more details here

Rinnyx · 25/05/2010 18:41

Sorry for the confusion the one I was on about was the sure start grant that you can apply for 11 weeks before baby is due, you get the dr or MW to sign the form and send it off, I got it with DD 8 years ago.
I spoke to the midwife about it and she said so far she has just heard of the CTF being killed which I am not to fussed about.

In better news app with the MW went great, we got to hear babys heartbeat tho she said she is not meant to do it till I am over 19 weeks but I am not due to see her again til 28 weeks so glad I asked.
All bloodywork I had done was fine and I had that triple blood test thing to test for downs so we will get the results in 1 to 2 weeks x

umf · 25/05/2010 18:57

rinnyx that's all good news!

SureStart funding was ringfenced for this year so that should be ok.

harmonyb23 · 26/05/2010 08:03

Hello everyone, just been reading back through all the posts. Glad everything went OK with the Midwife Rinny. I won't be eligible for the Surestart funding as I don't fit any of the criteria (don't receive income support etc.) But never mind the £190 grant was a surpise to me and that will be a great help!

Hope everyone has been enjoying the lovely weather, I have managed to get sunburnt and contract a cold all in one weekend, so am feeling pretty sorry for myself hopefully it will clear up soon though.

I also did the boy/girl test and it came out that I would be having a girl. Can't wait to find out what I am having, really want to start shopping for baby things, getting really excited!!

Rinnyx · 26/05/2010 08:40

harmonyb23 sorry to hear that, DP and I only just get in for the grant cause we get min working tax credit

Oh has anyone had any probs shopping online at babies r us?
I have tried many times last night and this morning to order afew sale items but all I get is a stupid internal server error when I try to process part 2 of their 3 part order thing if I still get that tonight I might just email them and tell them to send stuff to my local store of I can pick stuff up

hmmSleep · 26/05/2010 09:01

Just noticed not much room left on this thread, any ideas for new thread title?

comtessa · 26/05/2010 09:10

From flump to bump?

hmmSleep · 26/05/2010 09:13

That's spooky comtessa, was thinking of that exact phrase! Will go set it up now.
