Hi all. Thought I would get the new thread started before the old one got too full! Thanks to nomoremagnolia for the title

OP posts:

What symptoms, potbelly? Painful tummy?

(Yeah, I could just stop taking folic acid now, couldn't I? Have been bamboozled by advertizing into thinking I should take a multivitamin, but suppose probably unneccessary.)

Babybean1 · 24/05/2010 10:44

Hi everyone. Have had a lovley weekend enjoying our new decking in the garden with DH! Filled a boat (dingy thing obviously not a real boat!!) with water and that did the trick to keep me and baby cool but still get some colour! Result

Exactly the same with buggies shoppingstar! People must think im really odd as i keep inspecting them when they walk past!

Bump is definitely very obvious now, alhough in some clothes i still just look frumpy instead of having a definite bump! Joys of 'in between' bump stages i guess!

Will put a pic of bump on tommorrow (forgot lead today and busy this eve!)

Hope everyone is enjoying another lovely sunny day....just a shame to be at work!

umf · 24/05/2010 11:02

Buggies - I've lost count of the pg women who've not only ogled but actually stopped me to ask about ours. They usually want to know if the bugaboo is worth the money (only if secondhand like ours) and if children like the philnteds (yes). I'm always v happy to give them my ha'penny's worth - so don't worry about staring!

Also DS has a rear-facing second-stage car seat, and people are always dashing over in car parks to ask where I got it.

dairymum · 24/05/2010 11:10

Morning ladies! Had MW appointment this morning, which they turned up 15 minutes late for AGAIN! Good job i wasn't in a hurry. Always a relief to hear heartbeat. Think I've been more worried this time around than with dd's 1+2.
Next appt will be 20 week scan. seems a long way off.
Really enjoying nice weather and hoping we have a good summer coz all my work is outside during summer. over last few years we've learned to always have sun cream and waterproofs with us! Often used on same day.

potbellybear · 24/05/2010 11:11

Hi UMF

No pains in tummy just feel like my period could start.

JFly · 24/05/2010 14:52

Haven't caught up with whole thread, but just wanted to say that I had a bit of a scare last week. Was told I had 1/5 risk of Downs and immediately had a CVS.

It was 4 days of agonising wait, but I am so lucky and have been given the all clear today. SO pleased that I can carry on with you all on this thread without worry.

Hope that everyone is enjoying the sunshine and their bumps and that pains, niggles and frumpiness go away soon.

cluelessnchaos · 24/05/2010 16:58

Crikey jfly that must have been terrifying, it's hard to get yourself back to normal after a big scare.

Booboobedoo · 24/05/2010 17:54

So glad you got the all-clear, JFly. umf - that's really inteersting about the lactase enzyme in pregnancy. I usually get through lots of milk, but I can't stomach it atm. Fine with cheese fortunately.

Had a rubbish weekend.

Poor DS has a horrible vomiting bug. It started on Saturday morning, and by Sunday afternoon we were in A&E as his temperature spiked at 42 degrees and he couldn't keep liquid down.

They took blood-tests and put a canula in his hand (he was so brave ), but we were allowed home after four hours.

So we cancelled all our nice plans, and have barely been outside.

He's asleep next to me on the sofa atm.

Fed-up doesn't begin to cover it.

smokeybacon · 24/05/2010 19:12

jfly what a scare, that must have been torture for you, but so pleased you have a happy outcome.

I had my CVS results today too - both normal. Yay! Am now beginning to believe that I am going to end up with 2 babies sometime in the autumn. DH bumped in to our consultant this morning. Must have been a good omen I think!

booboo hope your DS recovers soon, poor thing.

champagnesupernova · 24/05/2010 20:10

I never failed to be amazed by how much there is to catch up with on this thread [chatterbox emoticon]

Anyway, been browsing around and MN are looking for pregnant people to product test appletiser if they haven't drunk it for a while.
thread here

redandyellowandpinkandgreen · 24/05/2010 20:11

Does anyone feel just, well, normal? I am so worried.

I have no bump (but I am fat to start with so more places to hide it I suppose) I don't think my boobs have grown, haven't put on a pound, just feel like I usually do. I really wouldn't know I was pregnant if I hadn't seen the scan.

I suppose the only think is my boobs are still quite sore, but that's it.

PrivetDancer · 24/05/2010 20:58

Hi redandyellow - yes I'm starting to feel very normal. Not even had sore boobs! Only symptom type thing is that I still don't really have an appetite.
Frankly I'm quite pleased though! Enjoy it - we're supposed to feel normal in the second trimester

I do have a bump, but it's above my waist so it can't really be the baby which is only just coming out of the pelvis at this point! That'll be a flump I guess!

jfly - v pleased it all turned out ok, must have been a horrible wait.

shoppingstar · 24/05/2010 21:49

babybean good to know I'm not alone in buggy stalking! and umf that has given me the confidence to approach and question in future!

comtessa thankfully my boobs haven't grown much at all or I would be inconsolable - currently wearing prepreg GG cup so not looking forward to bf sized boobs. I might topple over. I think a well fitting wired bra would be OK.

redandyellow I know what you mean. I don't have the metallic taste any more and don't feel nauseous or nearly so tired. I'm convincing myself to enjoy being pregnant rather than look for symptoms. And I'm scared the flump tummy that has grown into maturity trousers is 90% fat and 10% baby!!

JFly and smokey excellent news!

bunnygirl80 · 25/05/2010 07:43

Jfly that must have been so worrying for you - glad you got the all clear

smokey glad your results were good too

booboo hope your DS is better soon

shoppingstar I keep eyeing up buggies in the street as well. In fact DH likes to test me when we see one by asking me to identify the make and model

Has anyone else noticed that their body hair as slowed down/ stopped growing? I haven't shaved my legs for 2 weeks and only have a tiny bit if stubble. Bikini line is well overdue for waxing as well, yet has hardly any regrowth. I'm hoping this carries on as it will make life much easier once I can't see/reach those areas any more. Although I suppose if I can't see them then I won't care how hairy they get

Pidgin · 25/05/2010 08:42

hello people

not been on in a while but doing one of my regular catch-ups!

Bunny, there is some old wives' tale about body hair growth and sex of the baby - I think it's less body hair = girl but I'm not sure. I came across it on this quiz which is silly but fun:
boy or girl quiz

I came out 80% likely to have a boy, which fits with my hunch - I have become convinced it's a boy recently - obviously going to get proved wrong at the 20-week scan!

redandyellow I feel pretty normal too - over the past few weeks most of my symptoms have disappeared or lessened, I don't have much of a bump yet, and feel more like my old self. Although I have definitely put on weight, I would be glad if I hadn't! Hope you can put your mind at rest, anyway.

bunnygirl80 · 25/05/2010 09:10

pidgin Thanks for the link. It reckons I'm having a girl, which fits with what I want, although I don't have a hunch either way at the moment.

Maybe we should all take the test and record the results on the stats thread. Then we can compare what the test thought with what we actually end up having

umf · 25/05/2010 09:13

Jfly glad to hear all well. And good news from smokey! booboo poor ds! Hope he's himself again soon.

redandyellow I think there are often a strange 'am I really pg' few weeks after ms and before bump and kicking. I don't really get it cos still feel pretty tired and sick, but other friends have talked about it.

Quiz says boy! I think it's a boy again, just based on the wriggliness, which is probably silly of me. Will find out in 6 weeks, hopefully!

PrivetDancer · 25/05/2010 09:32

Ooh quiz says boy, that's what I think too, based on feeling quite different in this pregnancy to the last one.

Rinnyx · 25/05/2010 10:34

How is everyone doing today?

I have my 16 week app with the midwife today so hopeing to hear the heartbeat for the first time, I really need a pick me up today what with yesterdays events, found out baby grant is being cut from £500 to £100 for any babys born after Aug 1st so I am stressed out as that money would of been a great help and also my poor DD's bike was stolen right off she schools grounds, didnt even leave her lock.
Some people really have no heart these days

Babybean1 · 25/05/2010 11:32

Have just attempted a link to my bump pic! hopefully it will work and is here

Quiz says mine is 60% likely to be a boy which is what we have been steering towards as well! Not really any reasons why but hey! Didnt know the heartbeat answer tho!

That must have been so scary Jfly glad all was ok.

Have registered for the appletiser thing champagne although it took me back to the home page after submitting so not sure it actually worked!

Rinny thats awful about your DD'd bike. Poor thing, bet shes really upset. Do they have CCTV or anything?

Feeling pretty miserable and tired today and its only Tuesday! Looking forward to a long weekend off soon!
Hope everyone has a good day

Babybean1 · 25/05/2010 11:36

Managed the link but doesnt seem to take you to the right page!

try here!

umf · 25/05/2010 12:19

Rinnyx hope appt goes well.

On the money, do you mean the cuts to the Child Trust Fund? That money couldn't actually be spent until child turned 18, so not much use in the immediate future anyway.

What kind of sick person steals a child's bike?

Rinnyx · 25/05/2010 12:24

No I mean the £500 you can apply for 11 weeks before EDD to help toward buying things for baby, they are now cutting it back to just £100

Rinnyx · 25/05/2010 12:30

uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/spending-cuts-child-trust-funds-axed-tele-fcdcd1695751.html?AID=10606473&P ID=3781606

"Similar swingeing cuts will also be made to the higher payments given to families earning less than £16,190 a year. Rather than £500, these families will receive just a £100 voucher for babies born after August 1"

I still cant believe they stole her bike, the school has CCTV but not on the bike sheds she only got it last christmas and had been asking for a bike months before

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 25/05/2010 13:15

Hello all! Nice to catch up on what's happening.

JFly so glad your amnio was clear! Must have been a very tough few days. I'm delighted all's well.

potbelly I have felt pain like that a few times. Apparently it is more than likely the round ligament pain due to the uterus growing. I've not had spotting or anything with it, so I figure it's normal.

Boo I hope your poor DS is feeling better.

I did the quiz of course... Didn't actually know the answers to several, so just had a guess. 80% boy and in fact everything suggests that's probably right. Hope to know for sure soon...

I was interested to read about other people's bumps too... I have one now (not very visible) but I also figure it's a flump! I have such a huge appetite these days - it's got to be going somewhere .
