Hi all. Thought I would get the new thread started before the old one got too full! Thanks to nomoremagnolia for the title

Hi guys

I haven't had a chance to catch up properly, but just wanted to say hi, and that the bleeding didn't carry on after Thurs evening, so must have just been one of those things. My scan is tomorrow though, so will still be a bit nervous till I have had it.

good luck for tomorrow lorelai xxxxxxxxx

rollerbaby · 18/05/2010 21:25

4Mad congrats on the scan... is so reassuring to see little jumping bean I know! Feels like forever now until 20 weeks though.

Vix I am going to use a doula - a lady called Alison Silvester in London. She is lovely and I think it is money well spent for the support. I spoke to a woman on the phone who had used her and raved about the fact she got the birth she wanted because of it.

Only problem is that you are probably due fairly near me so she will be booked up! You could try the doula site though and see who else is available... I think they do get booked up though so you will need to hurry.

Is anyone thinking of a homebirth at all?

4madboys · 18/05/2010 21:28

yep i am down for a homebirth i have wanted them with my last three pregnancies, but my babies like to stay in and get overcooked, so have had to go in once i got really overdue, ie almost 3wks overdue and have my waters broken, then laboured naturally each time tho, with just gas and air and had ds4 in the birth pool in under an hour, despite him being 10lb 13oz!

so i am hoping i dont go too overdue this time, going to use accupuncture etc to try and help and am debating with the idea of self discharging after they have broken my waters! and coming home to birth!

Hello to llandb and delhibelly

Sorry to hear your sad news Threelittleducks but lovely to hear that your nan got to share your scan photo

Hmmsleep the dress you posted for the wedding on Saturday is beautiful. I'm sure the spots will go as quickly as they have appeared. (And I'm jealous of your bump - i definitely have a flump like Ebb)

I also have been finding it hard to work up the courage to visit maturity departments so have enlisted my mum tomorrow for the search for smart work trousers. I tend to have high waisted work trousers so I don't think I can do the hair bobble / unbuttoned thing and be any more comfortable.

Thanks for sharing all your spot updates - I feel in good company now!

Great to hear about the scans umf and 4madboys and fingers crossed for tomorrow Lorelai

Fenouille · 18/05/2010 21:51

Hello to all of the newbies! I've only been away a couple of days and there's been so much going on!

Threelittleducks I'm really sorry to hear about your bad news. It must have been bittersweet showing her your scan pictures, but I'm sure you both were happy to be able to share the moment xxx

Hmm very jealous of your bump, it's lovely! I've got a weird two stage bump with a sticky out bit above my belly button and then a bumpy tummy below. Anyway, I'm well and truly in maturity clothes now and I'll be wearing my first tight-ish dress tomorrow (I'm running a stand at a trade show so want to look pregnant so my colleagues don't forget and I have an obvious excuse to sit down and have a drink of water every now and then!)

Are any of you finding that your male colleagues are suddenly a lot more caring that usual? Mine are all being quite sweet (although one did ask how "Mummy" was earlier, so he got a bit verbal slap!). I suppose I'd better take advantage of it while I can

hmmSleep · 18/05/2010 21:58

Hello to all you new November ladies .

Happy birthday to mini Ebb, great scan news 4madboys and good luck for tomorrow Lorelai!

I've just started a thread asking for emergency spot busting advice, my face is now covered! I'm really hoping you're right shoppingstar and they disappear asap! Will let you know if I get any good tips, or indeed any tips at all.

Rinnyx · 18/05/2010 23:02

Gald the scan went well 4madboys and thanks for the heads up on the site, pram is on hold in mothercare and think I may instore the cotbed tho using DD's crib for the first few months other smaller things I may just buy online

Good luck for tomorrow Lorelai x

hmmSleep · 19/05/2010 07:35

Morning all, woke up this morning to find both dcs covered in chicken pox! Guess it means ds didn't have it a few weeks back, but at least I already know I'm immune.

The main tip from my spot zapping thread was suducrem, tried it last night and no difference yet, but will give it a bit longer, (there was a tiny pot of it in my bounty pack!).

harmonyb23 · 19/05/2010 08:00

Good luck for today Lorelai I hope your scan goes well!!

Thanks for the add on Facebook Babybean!

Well I am still suffering with MS a little. Couldn't seem to eat anything last night and when I did it didn't stay down for long (TMI sorry!) I hate being sick!!! Got up this morning and really didn't fancy going to work, but off I go anyway, oh the joys!

hmmSleep · 19/05/2010 08:57

Hope the MS stops soon harmony, how many weeks are you now?

Just thought I should point out the sudocrem advice was for our bad skin, not the kids pox, although dd did just point to my forehead and say 'you've got chicken pox too Mummy!' .

Someone else suggested this from Chanel.

cluelessnchaos · 19/05/2010 09:31

Bleeding again, away to the hospital this afternoon to see if they can hear a heartbeat.

smokeybacon · 19/05/2010 09:32

Morning all.

Have had to name change as have been spotted by a RL friend who saw the twin announcement before I had told her. Which was a real shame. I like the relative anonymity of MN so decided to name change. Hope you all realise who I am without me actually announcing it! I may not keep this name but will see.

Back to see consultant today to see if we can have the CVS. Fingers crossed.

Hope your scan goes well lorelai. Sorry not to name check more, but am soooooo tired. Didn't sleep well last night at all despite the feeling of utter exhaustion.

umf · 19/05/2010 09:52

Hope things go well for you today lorelai and smokeybacon. Honeymoo hoping for a homebirth here. Which has finally prompted me to order some curtains for the sitting room!

comtessa · 19/05/2010 09:55

Hi all, I'm so sorry to hear about your bleeding cluelessnchaos. Thinking of you today...

Honeymoo and 4madboys, yes I'm thinking of a homebirth too, although my MIL thinks I'm mad, but she is allowed to as she has given birth twice and sadly only my DH lived. However it is kind of difficult as we usually have a great relationship, and she clearly thinks I'm putting my baby at risk, which of course I just would not do. Oh well, I've got a few months. And she does live in the US - although planning to come stay (not with us but nearby!) for a few months around the time of the birth.
Haven't spoken to my mum about it yet, but she's more about nature taking its course, and she had three live births and a miscarriage, so she's not just assuming things will necessarily run smoothly, just realistic, I guess. Anyone else having these problems? xx

comtessa · 19/05/2010 09:55

Also lorelai, hope your scan goes well too - handholding in thought... xx

umf · 19/05/2010 10:19

thinking of you, cluelessnchaos

umf · 19/05/2010 10:26

comtessa yes, my in-laws in Scandinavia disapprove of the hb idea. They do a good line in insinuating disapproval without actually saying anything you can argue with. Avoiding talking to them much anyway because fed up with having to justify all my life choices, how things work here, etc etc.

Nice to talk to my grandmothers, tho, because they both had their 2nd children at home. In the 50s and 60s they had to have DC1 in hospital and then subsequent children at home. They're very supportive of the idea of hb, if it's what I want.

b00kw0rm · 19/05/2010 11:15

Good luck today for lorelai and smoky... also clueless, my buddy in bleeding(!), hope all's well and this is just the bleeding they told you to expect after the scan...
umf and comtessa- I'm thinking about a homebirth too, but got to get myself discharged from consultant led care first apparently- also struggling with the idea that DD will/may be in the house while I'm giving birth!
Comtessa- saw your thread on homebirth over on Childbirth and think you'd otherwise be at QMC in Nottingham? If so, then me too! That's where I had DD.
Has anyone else starting getting really hungry (again)? The past few days I've been eating like a horse- just had to have a sausage and egg roll to tide me over till lunch! So I'm hoping baby's having a growth spurt and in a few days, a tidy bump like hmmsleep's will emerge - maybe just more flump though realistically.

b00kw0rm · 19/05/2010 11:18

Also, just noticed that both October and December have a separate stats thread... are they just more organised than us? Does anyone think we should start one- maybe then we could include things like homebirth/which hospital, next scan date, etc without having to scroll down loads each time?

addictedisabigsisteragain · 19/05/2010 11:51

lol, bookworm are you feeling thread envy!! lol

i agree a separate stats thread would be good.

addictedisabigsisteragain · 19/05/2010 11:54

oh i've just realised that i havent posted in here for ages! hi every one

my mum had a baby girl, she is georgous. back in hospital but (hopefully) on the mend.

balijay · 19/05/2010 13:17

Hi everyone. Still here but don't have time to post very often.

Just wanted to say thinking of you all those with bleeding - it is a horrible nightmare isn't it? Last sunday I had a *tmi - gush of watery blood (thought I had wet myself ) Had my 12 week scan on Tues and all was well luckily but was terrified. Have since had some dark spotting but dealing with it better than I was.

As an aside, my date is now 18th Nov - could someone please amend next time they update? (Don't want to mess it up!)

b00kw0rm · 19/05/2010 13:30

Haha, addicted- not envy, just feeling inadequate and congrats on your baby sis- lovely newborn to practise on!!

balijay · 19/05/2010 13:45

Congrats on the new arrival in your family addicted
