Hi all. Thought I would get the new thread started before the old one got too full! Thanks to nomoremagnolia for the title

umf i've found milk is the easiest thing to drink, followed by semi flat diet lemonade, and for occasional variety, welches white grape and peach juice or a J20. I have gone off water and squash too and not keen on any hot drinks at the moment neither!

Not by choice, but i am off to see lots of people at work and family over the next 2 days who haven't seen me since the end of Feb....dating scan/nuchal is a week today (yay - can't come soon enough ) but really hoping i don't get rumbled until i've had the scan....but at 11 weeks and with my massive boobs bursting out of everything, and my weird eating (not fancying things i used to like, and whatever i try to eat i struggle to finish no matter how small the portion!) i reckon people are going to guess straight away! Only good thing is that i weighed too much at the start of pg, but so far although my body shape has changed massively, i haven't actually put any weight on, despite only being sick once, and so hoping that i might not put on a stupid amount afterall and be closer to the lower amount people tend to put on....as had enough to lose as it was pre-pg!!

applegirl · 22/04/2010 10:56

Gosh just read some of that thread by spookycharloote - shocking! poor thing

Loooopy - not sure about milk followed by lemonade, sounds revolting!

Booboobedoo · 22/04/2010 11:06

tanmu82 - I went two days without brushing my teeth at all because I'd be sick as soon as the brush entered my mouth.

My dentist said it's very common, and just hang on in there.

honeymoo - you are absolutely right.

I wish we'd never bought the bloody things.

umf · 22/04/2010 11:35

Thank you for all the fluid suggestions!

Kyuri I'm an idiot - haven't tried diluting the juice!! Will go and do so now.

Could quite fancy some of those bitter lemon suggestions. Or perhaps juice and tonic. Something nice and sour. Will go and raid cupboards.

Went through almost whole of last pg with nasty upset tummy, not realising until almost the end that it was because I couldn't digest the milk I was guzzling to avoid calcium deficiency. Lost my lactase in pg or don't ever have it, but don't normally have milk, so never realised. Useful lesson in humility, cos was previously sniffy about newfangled intolerances.

Threelittleducks · 22/04/2010 11:58

Afternoon all - love the new thread name! Fantastic!

Now all I need is a t-shirt/badge/big arrow above my head with that on and I might feel slightly less self-conscious!

Ugh, was worried about lack of sickness and am learning slowly that in future I should just be pleased when am not spewing and feeling good. What a horrible morning I have just had at playgroup with ds!!

Good luck to all this morning with scans etc. Fingers, toes, everything crossed!xxx

My remedies for sicky include Dr. Pepper (what's the worst that could happen, right?), milk, lemonade, bread rolls and butter and antacid tablets from Sainsbury's which have a nice spearmint taste rather than peppermint. Oh and salt and vinegar crisps. Very healthy.

PrivetDancer · 22/04/2010 12:26

Hello to the new thread!

Can't believe it's still 2 weeks tomorrow til my scan. Seems like forever. Did try and book another pvt one this week but they had nothing I could make until next week and it seems a bit silly to pay for one just a week before nuchal. It's killing me not knowing what's going on with the measurements / how many weeks I am really. Sigh.

Well I am off on holiday tomorrow for a long weekend at longleat. Dd should love it. Will prob not have wifi so catching up will be limited - if you move to another new thread leave a note

I think I am going to have chip shop chips for my lunch. How's that for unhealthy. Will stink out the office and make everyone else hungry too

PoodleMum · 22/04/2010 13:00

Hello all!
Well done on the new thread.
Good luck on anyone having scans today or tommorrow. Mine in next wednesday when I'll be 13 weeks and counting down the hours till then!
Thread title very true - although my ex-boss did guess I was pregnant by looking at me the other day. She did know we had been trying to conceive but took one look at my stomach and asked me if I was expecting, and then tried to convince me I wasn't looking fat!

Pidgin · 22/04/2010 13:21

boo I've also put on about ten pounds. It's a pound a week for me. At this rate I will need some sort of industrial contraption to get me to the labour ward. As honeymoo says hiding the scales is the only answer. I'm sort of hoping my weight gain is bloating but really I know it's because I am eating for two with gusto. But hey ho, it'll come off in the end, and when else do you get to scarf down anything you like with such a good excuse?

Witty I also need help on how to tell people - we've told parents and a couple of close friends but finding it hard to broach with others! (We're not really spreading the news till after 12-week scan next week, but there are a couple of close friends we would not mind knowing.) We went to dinner with some friends last night and planned to tell them - DH was going to do it but never seemed to find the right moment, by the end of the night I was giving him frequent meaningful looks but to no avail! I am thinking of having a T-shirt made with our new slogan of "It's not fat, it's a baby!" to get the news across...

How are people doing symptoms-wise? I am starting to feel the tiredness lift a bit this week, and have been to the gym twice, which is twice more than I've managed in any other week so far! And last night I stayed up way past my usual 9.30 bedtime! Although I could happily fall asleep at my desk this very minute...

harmonyb23 · 22/04/2010 13:37

Hey everyone!

Issy I am so sorry to hear your news, you've really been through a lot and I wish you all the luck for the future!

Booboobedoo and tanmu82 I can also sympathise. I think I have put on about 8 pounds since getting pregnant but also due to needing to eat in order to stay on my feet and avoid feeling really really sick!! Never had this when pregnant with DS. I just seemed to be sick all the time. Not much sickness this time just a feeling of nausea when I am hungry.

I have also been experiencing muscle spasms in my abdominal muscles recently. They seem to occur in the evenings once I have sat down on the sofa to relax, then, BAM a really strong muscle spasm... It's crazy! Anyone else experienced anything similar?

I hope everyone else is well!!! x x x

Just back from my nuchal scan, which combined with the bloods I had taken have given me a very low risk , so feeling very relieved and happy and am now going to announce it to the world.

Was amazed how much more detailed and informative the private nuchal scan was in comparison to the NHS dating one, but guess when you're paying £195! They counted all it's limbs, little fingers, checked it's heart rate, showed that it had fluid in it's bladder so we know it's swallowing, all very exciting.

Hope everyone else's scans etc. have or do go well too.

Babybean1 · 22/04/2010 13:54

Oh so sorry to hear your horrible news Issy. Really hope your getting the love and support you need. Big Hug!

Love the new thread name - it is soooo true to how i am feeling at the moment!

Need to go and buy some new clothes at the weekend i think as nothing seems to fit anymore! I hate getting dressed at the mo as i just feel fat and ugly! I really look like i have just eaten too many pies!! (when i havent eaten any!) Most of my clothes are usually quite fitted so they all make my stomach extra obvious!

Have my scan next week and keep getting really worried that im going to get there and they say its stopped growing! Anyone else having these worrying thoughts even tho they have no reason to be?

hmmSleep · 22/04/2010 13:55

Glad all went well Loopymumsy, finding it very confusing that we have a Loooopy and a Loopymumsy on here!

Kyuri · 22/04/2010 14:07

Great news about the scans loopy and hmmsleep

Keep remembering my dancing baby on scan yesterday and makes me smile every time too

Anyone have a feeling about the sex yet? I think ours is a boy but am not basing that on anything in particular other than there are 4 granddaughters on DH's side already (no boys). We've decided we'd rather leave the sex as a surprise so will be happily wondering for the next 6 months or so.

umf · 22/04/2010 14:17

V glad to hear happy scan news!

hmmSleep · 22/04/2010 14:24

I keep changing my mind about the sex kyuri, I guessed correctly with dd and ds, but just don't know this time (guess it's a 50 50 chance though!) My gut instinct was girl, and I've gone off sweet stuff like I did dd, but then I'm covered in spots, and the heart rate sounded more like a boy ( according to midwife friend girls heart rates are faster, not sure how true that is though). Going to leave it as a surprise too, but fun guessing.

hmmSleep · 22/04/2010 14:31

Just found this;

"One belief that has been around for some time, and even had some acceptance in the medical community at one point, is that the fetal heartbeat differs for boys and girls. If you're having a girl, then the fetal heart rate will be above 140. A boy will have a heart rate below 140. However, that pesky science has reared its little head again to say that this is complete fiction. A baby's heart rate is not affected by its sex until it is born, when a girl's heart rate will increase considerably compared with boys during labor."

So guess it's not true, and having said that my fetal heartbeat was 161 today, which would make it a girl if it was true, so I was wrong anyway!

applegirl · 22/04/2010 14:41

brilliant news loopymumsy and hmmSleep - nice to hear some good news

Can't wait for my scan next Friday. I am struggling to keep it quiet now, but really would like to hang on just one more week after the scan, and I'll be 12 weeks then too... seems like an age, but hopefully it will go quickly, and fingers and toes crossed all will be well.

Drink suggestions - I echo the appletise and also suggest soda or tonic water as a non sweet and refreshing drink

Just back from an hours walk with the dog, and am now ravenous!!! Appetite definitely on the up this week I think - great, just what my ever expanding waist line needs!

Pidgin · 22/04/2010 14:49

excellent news about the scans loopymumsy and hmmsleep - so exciting.

Babybean if it's any comfort I feel exactly the same. Last week I was feeling confident everything was fine, because we'd got to 10 weeks and all seemed well, but as the scan gets closer I can't help worrying that something is wrong. I think it's natural to worry and to prepare yourself for the worst. Hopefully we'll both feel better after good news next week. When is your scan again? (mine's on Weds)

Threelittleducks · 22/04/2010 17:07

Great scan news ladies

Very chuffed for you!

Babybean1 · 22/04/2010 17:22

Hi pidgin, it's nice to see I'm not the only one still worrying Felt exactly the same around 10 weeks that I'd got that far without anything to really worry about (other than the normal symptoms coming and going etc) but as the scans approaching I strangely feel more apprehensive! Think it's because It will make it much more real rather than just in my head as it sometimes feels now! People keep saying that it'll be fine and I should stop worrying, but as I'm sure u know, that's is sooo much easier said than done!! Am doing the same tho and preparing for the worst (as much as you can) but hoping the very best!

My scan is wed 2 5.45 so gonna be a long day at work I think!! Fingers crossed for us all to have good news next week

Babybean1 · 22/04/2010 17:24

Oh yeah and sorry forgot to add, great news hmm slepp and loopy

applegirl · 22/04/2010 17:25

Pigin and babybean same here on the worrying front, in between bouts of feeling good and positive, I can't help feeling petrified of the scan going wrong

Booboobedoo · 22/04/2010 17:49

Congratulations on all those who had nice, reassuring scan results. Only five days to wait for me.

I'm currently getting Girl Feelings. (Had Boy Feelings all the way through with DS).

However, at the risk of sounding Smug, I Don't Care As Long As It's Healthy.

I think I did care a bit in my first pregnancy, but the second I met DS that all melted away.

Honestly, those of you doing this for the first time, it is just the BEST THING.

Fenouille · 22/04/2010 18:38

Hello everyone, nice to hear about all the scan results. I heard the heartbeat at the doctor today, which was nice, but in return I've now got huge qualities of paperwork to fill in (sample question: how long do you spend travelling to work?) and got a stern look for having put on too much weight.

I'm pretty sure ours will be a boy but I quite fancy a girl at the moment. Actually, I don't really mind either way but I'm currently having a battle as to whether we should find out or not. I don't want to and am winning at the moment! Although apparently the sonographers like to tell you whether you want to know or not here

I'm telling the office on Monday, it will be such a relief not to have to hold my breath all the time And my maternity trouser order should arrive next week too. Phew!
