switty Normal. At least in my books. It's only been the last 10-14 days I've been able to look at "that chapter" without sobbing. I am after all the one who broke down at the midwife declaring "but the baby is too big and my vagina too small". You've got looooaaads of time to get used to the idea. Where did you go for the weekend?

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 19/04/2010 14:20

We went to Hoegaarden just for a few hours hike on Sunday. It was gorgeous. Apple blossom everywhere and sun beaming down.

I must remember to make that point to the doc. If nothing else, it will hand him a laugh. And of course, it's nothing but the absolute truth.

skihorse · 19/04/2010 14:25

Granted, the midwife did kind of snigger. Her and jailbait. Hoegaarden is lovely - I too have spent an afternoon there many years ago - drinking it too of course.

Am feeling the rage this afternoon.... some poor feckers have had a lucky escape on facebook....

Think must be hormones....

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 19/04/2010 16:57

Poor iggs.

I'm feeling the knackered. As it were.

Also wondering, AIBU to think that while I stood in the street in town today speaking to the fire brigade about a large council-type waste bin that was on fire, the dozen or so people who also passed it, saw it, walked on without a second thought were complete Tories? (As apparently that's now an acceptable term to describe someone who doesn't care ). (Looks like the whole of this West Yorks town has converted from their normal Labour standpoint ).

So I then went into the shop which would have gone up in flames if the bin had burned much more, to ask for a fire extinguisher, and was told, "we've been told, we KNOW" with an eye roll and stroppy voice, as people queued, oblivious to the danger.

at the way people just IGNORE rather important stuff and walk away.

Imagine if it had turned into a big fire and someone had died, or been hurt. Imagine the outdry at the "people who walked past and did nothing".

What's the world coming to? Tut, tut.

skihorse · 19/04/2010 17:00

Tut tut indeed. What about all the twats shitting themselves about terrorists but are desperate to get on a plane. Not sure if it's been on UK news yet but just before I left the office the Dutch were saying NATO sent up two F16s... one came down with engine coated in glass.

Rots YANBU but what is one called that does care?

Ponymum · 19/04/2010 17:56

As you all know, I is having a girl with a willy. Just to add to the PESHbaby gender mix up.

I have been so weepy. I was nearly sobbing in bed last night. When MrP asked me what was wrong I couldn't remember why I even started crying in the first place. When it happened yesterday afternoon he asked me, hopefully, 'It's hormones, isn't it?' Hell, I don't know!

CurlyCasper · 19/04/2010 19:07

Feeling for everyone with the rage and weepies.

Made a valid point in a meeting today involving staff relationships. Immediately turned bright red and felt like I was on the verge of crying WTF???!!!!

I can't get comfy. Anytime. Anywhere.

reginaMonologue · 19/04/2010 19:14

switty fab news on the scan - 3 days to go till mine and it's all a bit "why isn't it Thursday yet...". It must be everso exciting, I can't wait to see the little blighter that has been makin' me piss 3 times a night .

poo fingers crossed here for you, I'd cross my legs if I could as well but it seems they are open more often than not at the moment .

rots I like your plan regarding the dodo - though my major annoyance at the moment is the pigeons in the back garden that keep shitting on the washing. So, I'll be getting that air rifle and shooting the bastards and then using their feathers to stuff something!

PollyPoo · 19/04/2010 19:20

'lo all. I iz back. Had a relatively stress-free day out on the beach with Boo.

Switty congrats on the scan - it is so amazing isn't it!

Switty can I just check what you meant about your weak piss stick? Did you get some strong ones, then a weak one and then strong ones again? Well obviously you got stronger ones again after, seeing as your duffed...

Fanku all for the sticky thoughts. Hopefully tomorrow will be a more positive day.

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 19/04/2010 19:33

Hey Pol,

Yes, I got a random weak one in the middle of my crazed days of compulsive testing. Duff test? More dilute urine? I don't know, but it upset me anyway (made me wish like hell I hadn't done it) and yet it all worked out, so far at least...

Fingers crossed for you!!

SomethingSuitablyWitty · 19/04/2010 19:34

By the way, thanks all for the good wishes on the scan. So lovely to be able to share it with you guys, even though all a big secret in the outside world. Pathetically soppy, but if you guys can blame the hormones then so can I.

CurlyCasper · 19/04/2010 20:31

I have a question: at what point in pregnancy is it reasonable to expect your other half to be sober and available (phone on, not too long a drive away) at all times just in case you go into labour?

We'll be living 50 minutes' drive from the hospital. And I have noone else to rely on. Does 32/33 weeks sound reasonable? That's when SFF comes back from his holiday. He knows that come a certain time a few cans in the evening will be off limits. But I'm also worried about when he's off pursuing his hobby and has no phone signal or does not have his phone on him for most of the day...

Ponymum · 19/04/2010 21:04

cas I just asked MrP what he thought and he said 30 weeks. I think he's being a bit cautious. But I have to say that because I'm 32 weeks and his answer would imply that I am supposed to already have my hospital bag packed, have sorted and organised the baby clothes, and have made all necessary equipment purchases. Which I have not.

CurlyCasper · 19/04/2010 21:17

Thanks pone. You'd best get busy then...

I got my dates wrong. If pregnancy goes smoothly, SFF will be in the Alps from 32+5, returning bang on 34 weeks. I wanted to spend some of the time at home, sorting the house, and some at the in laws, who will help with the dog etc. Am now back to worrying about him being away but don't dare say it to him...

Once he is back there will be no drinking. and preferably no days away. Not sure he will like that much...

Ponymum · 19/04/2010 21:59

curls I still think that's pretty safe. And if it makes you feel any better, last time we moved house at 36 weeks.

skihorse · 20/04/2010 05:22

curly Sounds reasonable to me. My colleague who had hers early last year (Monday morning when maternity leave started Monday!) - they'd gone out for a bevvy on the sunday night and her hubby was too drunk to drive her to hospital at 2am for the emc - midwife had to bundle them all in her car, which was a "comfort" model! Btw, the blushing & ready to cry bit sounds a bit rought. Curly Is it worth phoning around some taxi firms who are open 24/7, or at least finding a local taxi driver who won't mind being awoken by your phonecall at 3am to take you in? Explain the situation, I'm sure you'll not have been the first.

pony I suppose I ought to think about a hospital bag too even though I'm having it at home.

polly Any news from you this morning? I know you're an early riser.

OP posts:
PollyPoo · 20/04/2010 07:57

Morning all. Casp I think when duffed with Boo we didn't think in terms of weeks, but once the head was 3/5 or 4/5 engaged I think TG reduced his booze consumption (still probably had one a night tho). Honestly, we were sooo laid back first time round I'm amazed we made it to the hospital on time. I am fairly certain that based on recent events, I will not be so laid back this time.

Ok update time - I took temperature this morning (for the last time). It was the highest it's ever been so I am now feeling like a major twat for stressing myself and TG out. The thermometer is now buried in a drawer and I will not be POAnymoreS. I will also stop looking for things to go wrong.

I really had hoped that once I got up the pole the madness would recede and I would become calm glowing and beatific.

Thanks for support and sticky wishes.

skihorse · 20/04/2010 08:31

Polly That's brilliant news and all we could have asked for. Very wise putting the kit/sticks away.

Of course the madness isn't done - not by a long shot. For one you'll be comparing this pregnancy to Boo's - then there's the worry of all the information you have now compared to last time - and not forgetting the will you be going for an early scan? Bet you move house during the pregnancy too!
