Vik I got a microwave steriliser for bottles, did the job fine, takes about 5 minutes iirc.

Bottles - I think I had about 6 but I actually didn't use half of them as I only expressed one bottle in the morning (which dh fed dd in the evening) and we only did that for a few weeks, so really I think I only ended up using 2 or 3 bottles in total. Depends how much you are planning to express and whether you are going to freeze it or just use each day's ebm up that day. I'm not sure if I'll bother expressing this time tbh, it can be a bit of a faff and take up valuable resting time! And I learnt to feed dd lying down so I could rest while feeding her.

I think I bought quite a few bottles as I wasn't sure how it would work out with bfing so wanted to be prepared in case of lots of expressing or switching to formula. In the end didn't need them all.

thanks ladies you have just confirmed how much of an arse i think she is. Going to rise above her crap. Also a bit emotional as mothers day reminds me of my mum, so she could have been a bit more understanding

chulita poor dd, hows your mothers day been?

jojo sounds like a lovely day. How was alice in wonderland? Whats a red velvet cupcake? Sounds gorg

viksam we like rilliegh, its not set in stone just at bit different, but they don't like it, after a chat to dp he is going to tell them to back off heres hoping it works. I got some nice stuff from new look. I went for a microwave steriliser, i got the tommytippee one for £5 from the glasgow pram centre. Think both are as quick each other. X

kapers i have been NHS physio with my spd, they gave me exercises and a belt and pulled me about so much i couldnt get out of bed the next day, they also said i shouldnt have an epidural as it could cause permanant damage if i cant feel pain in my hip as they may part my legs too far,and also if i dont use crutches to take weight off i could end up sofa bound for last 2 months!so all in all they did nothing except try and scare me so i may look into private like you did!
stac my sis is the same slags off my names i like and tries to put a downer on pregnancy has said awful things then expects me to hand baby over as soon as i have it, we have never get on so it would never happen!! so your not alone plus what would her dh know? is he a sonographer? men usually think all babies are boys normally pointing to the cord as they say its a boy! jojo sounds like you had a lovely day!! thatc upcake sounds fab

mlic I got the same remark about that name from fil, but I think its lovely hun stick with it. I had a cold water steriliser with ds but felt it took too long and I used extra bottles to cover when I was sterilising the others.

memphis sil doesnt have any kids she had to get a hysterectomy before dp and I met but she looks after dps son so must feel like a mum to him, unfortunately she has an opinion on everything and thinks we should all go with what she says. She also wont be getting my lo so know how you feel about your sis.

jojo meant to say earlier 4d scan was only done on lo's face to give us an idea of what it was like (try before you buy kind of thing) but we did see lo's 3 lines about 3 times, sonographer seemed pretty sure and ticked the box on the form so I dont know why I am worried

Hi all
Hope you all had a good mothers day - I had flowers and brekkie in bed - dd was so pleased to be giving me flowers, she kept talking about them all day - very sweet. DH also helped me organise all dd's toys which were all such a mess, I feel much calmer now its sorted - didn't get a nesting thing when pg with her, but need order atm!
DH and I decided not to share potential names with anyone because last time every name was slagged off by someone, my uncles response to our final name choice, Isla, was 'what like Isle a Wight?' with a smirk! - no one criticises once you have had the baby and given it a name (hopefully) also the reason we aren't telling anyone the sex is because people told me it might be wrong which stressed me out.

DD was flower girl for a friend yesterday, she looked gorgeous and had a lovely day, but omg it was stressful for me, she got up really early so was shattered by about 9am but refused to sleep so was a total nightmare by 12 when we were getting her ready
Wonder: Let mummy do your hair
DD:No
W:Do you want mummy to get cross?
DD (laughing):Yes
W:Do you want to go to the wedding?
DD:No (she's been excited for weeks)
Give me her best bothered? face - 2yo are so similar to teenagers it's scary..
DD proceeds to roll on floor again, messing up her hair for the 4th time...
Dh had to take her out of the church because she kept talking.. At the crucial 'does anyone know of any lawful impediment' bit dd said 'whoo' really loudly which made the whole church laugh. I'd forgotton how long church services are. Anyway alls well that ends well and no more weddings until December, hopefully by 3 she will be better able to control herself Typically today she had a fab nights sleep and was on good form all day.

I agree about not telling people potential names - before the birth people feel quite free to say "Oh I don't like it/I knew someone with that name at school and they were horrible/No one will know how to spell it" etc etc etc. If you just announce the name after the birth no one will say those things - they just accept it then, even if privately they don't like it.

Hi everyone
Just bookmarking my place but managed to catch up on the thread over breakfast too.

Sorry to hear your SIL is being so annoying Stac - perhaps she's secretly jealous! I've had trouble with someone in my family and when I've responded negatively to one of her offensive comments she replied with "I was only joking...gawd, you're so sensitive at the moment" Argh!! We're not telling anyone our list of potential names either cos they'll all have opinions that, frankly I'm not interested in. DH and I will decide and they'll all be told on the day!

I'm off to the dentist this morning. I'm a bit scared because I need treatment but don't want a jag....hope it's not too painful!

Chulita · 15/03/2010 08:16

viks I bf'd but gave ebm every now and again (5-7 times a week). We have a small microwave steriliser and a large cold water one. There were times when DD completely went off boob and I had to express for 4 or 5 days because she wouldn't latch but I found filling up the water one in the evening and bunging everything in wasn't too much faff. We had 4 bottles and I stored milk in bm bags in the freezer.
violet I need to see the dentist too but I'm terrified of them so haven't got round to making an appt which is stupid because my tooth'll only get worse the longer I leave it!
First morning since Thursday that DD hasn't woken up with vomit all over her bed/pjs. I didn't have to change a thing, hooray!!

the baby name is such a personal choice and one new mums dont take lightly as we know they will have it for life so people should keep their mouths shut! but then so should my dh he actually like onslo! i just think of that slob in the program keeping up appearances! but being so hormonal i wud probably change my mind when he comes out 2!
wonderstuff that storymade me laugh! saying whoo at the right place sounds fantastic and more original than when 90% of men in churchs always cough at that point!!
chulita good to hear that DD is better
sun is shining here going for lunch with my mum hope you all have a lovely day!

Hope this post finds you well.

I'm still bed ridden, 3 days - feel very inadequate not being able to look after DS who has today gone to his GP's. DP has been fab. Had trip to emerg doc this morn at 3am, been diagnosed with inner ear infection which is frothing!?!?! the pain is unbearable - last nite it was akin to labour - well maybe not but felt allowed to exaggerate!!, a chest infection and a sore throat. But never too infected not to eat choc pudding, which is what I'm doing in bed - if I wasn't poorly I would consider myself v indulgent!! Shame taste buds are a bit shot

Thankfully have been given some pregnancy friendly drugs which I have been reluctant to take but need to start getting back to normal somehow.

Hope all you mothers had a lovely day, will be back with a less self obsessed post once I got rid of the peel of bells in my right ear!!

mlic thats great news about your friend being pregnant 2, im really bad at keeping secrets on the name front i dont think i can tell my mum as she gets 2 excited then tells people and b4 you know it everyone knows, this happened by the time i was 6 weeks pregnant and everyone knew but had been told its a 'sectet' lol im positive my dh has told people at work!tsc we are giving people fake names which are alistair and cole! i must have thrown 30 names at my mil all of which she gave me a face that it looked like she had sniffed the worsed waft of shit!

Get better soon spider its horrible being ill

mylife yeah I am feeling a little better thanks

Ive been out with my friend today, got some tops which are nice and long and should see me through my pregnancy and also got 2 non-underwired bras from peacocks which fit v well, little bit of advice if you do go shopping there, the bra sizes come up small, Im usually a size 8 but they didnt have any so got a size 10-12 and it fits me v well so I would go for a size up.

Hope everyone has had a nice day today. Im hoping DP doesnt ask how much I spent

What? Third trimester?

You really scared me with that OP stac! I've been a bit awol from the far-too-busy July thread and hadn't realised some of the July-ers would be entering the third tri already! I'm 22 weeks on Weds. Congrats to all who have reached the milestone. (I've seen so many different accounts of when the third tri starts that I'm not actually sure when it does...}

Hope you are all well. Me and my wee girl are just fine, and I can't wait to escape work in 10 weeks.

mlic thats lovely about your friend and I think I will take the advice and either say we havent totally decided or give false ones, then when shes here just tell them it will be whatever we decided feck them its our child lol

dh glad your feeling better, did you enjoy the bargain hunting?

curly sorry for scaring you, we had a list of names for the thread and finally chose this one. I am 22weeks at the moment so still have a few weeks before I am in the 3rd tri too but we will all be going there lol. Hows things with you?

violet I am ignoring her now she is being an idiot, think I will keep my distance for a while so I dont get even more annoyed lol

stac yeah had a lovely day shopping, came home and fell asleep but seem to feel worse for it, have felt quite sick since waking up, still cant seem to shake the bug off completely yet. Really hoping it shifts soon though, feeling sick is the worst

Good evening - second time dropping in to say hello today - must mean I'm on the mend horrah.

Thanks for the get well wishes. One thing this poorly episode has done has shown me is that DP is soooo very capable. I've never doubted hime but he's never had to be as involved before so its very reassuring now we have #2 arriving shortly.

Have managed to catch up on the goings on.

Satc just to echo everyone else be tefal coated and let it slip off you, people can be so bloody insensitive. Raising a glass of water to you and your girl!!

MLIC I would love a career change too but not going to happen at least until kiddlings are at school, I live away from my family so no real support around - everything happens for a reason. Well that's what I tell myself and it gets me through!!!

DH Lucky you being able to get bras on the high street I've always been a buxom sort of girl and soon I'm going to have to internet order!!!

On the names front - Doesn't EVERYONE have an opinion and so ready to let you have it invited or not. I have chosen my girls name but am struggling big time with boys. Whatever I suggest seems to get a frown! hey ho but I'm doing the birthing so I reckon I get the choice - surely that's how it works?!?!?!?!?

SIL text earlier saying everyone loves our scan pic and how cute she is even thought shes not here yet also wanted to know how we are spelling the name, I told her the spelling but said we werent sure if we were sticking with it, then she cant say tell me the bloody reactions she has had from her friends lol
