birth storyhere.

donttrythisathome · 25/03/2010 16:25

Sorry, on this page

rollerbaby · 25/03/2010 18:13

oh don't try you have me weeping at the kitchen table...

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 25/03/2010 18:49

ski love, I'm not at all wound up about it. My point was that there are better designed carriers out there and clearly this one has a design fault BUT that doesn't make slings dangerous, nor does it mean that this one should be discounted, only that I don't like it. Your stats are flawed - you can only count people who use carriers, not all babies . I love slings and carriers.

donttry I can't see it WAAHHHH

CurlyCasperReturns · 25/03/2010 19:04

handbags away...

I got my Moby sling today and I rather likes it. Put the fake baby in, soon realised that you need to have a waist to be able to tie it round it, then did a much better job using SFF as a model. Can't wait to have my little joey strapped to me all the time.

I also can't wait until she stop making my belly hurt sooooooo much!

Just sent SFF for Chinese food. And I have a day off tomorrow. Is all good.

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 25/03/2010 19:12

Chinese food here too as it's YOB's birthday. Also day off tomorrow. Cas you're stealing my life .

dont I found it - well done you . Did they find out what caused the mec?

pandora69 · 25/03/2010 19:13

Mmm - chinese take away! (wipes bit of drool away. I am so hungry I tried to steal one of DD's fish fingers but she was having none of it.)

Right - I have got something to say. FUCKING HORSE BUYERS. How is it so hard? It goes like this; try horse, vet horse, pay, take horse home. That is the order. I cannot imagine you would take a car you fancy home, and ask if you could not pay for it for a couple of weeks in case it's engine blows up. No - you pay, then you take home. Why have I got so many people asking for a trial? When I bought big horse the dealer was so convinced he was a fab horse (and he was right) he said - you want him, stump up the cash. So I did, and have been happy ever since. Why can other people not get how you buy? And what is all this 'I'll pop in while I'm passing tomorrow. Don't know what time.' I have a JOB! Yes I want to sell my horse, but I would like a vague suggestion of 'oh, about 10am.' That's just being civilised. I suppose the problem with selling what is essentially a man's horse is that it is men who are ringing about him.

Gah! Rant over.

rollerbaby · 25/03/2010 19:17

I am 'avin a kebab. Waiting for it and smell is facking sensational. Mr moo having one against his will unfortunately.

rollerbaby · 25/03/2010 19:18

I must say I do think this whole sling debate in the press is a bit bloody OTT. I mean if jools Oliver can't get it right what hope is there for rest of us.

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 25/03/2010 19:29

pandy forgot to say I was totally by MOH arsey up himself arrogant twat.

I know you aren't going to let him but for god's sake, if you do, make sure he's insured....

I guess he thinks he's so important that people will do whatever he wants. Nutter.

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 25/03/2010 19:34

I am such a preggo nutter that I can't remember how pregnant I am. Please to tell me am I 23 or 24 weeks? I am SO tired I just can't think.

CurlyCasperReturns · 25/03/2010 19:44

I'm 23 weeks rots dontry - That sounds all a bit scary so didn't you do well! Amazing to hear about and glad you are taking it all in your stride. Happy mummying!

pandora69 · 25/03/2010 20:19

Rots here's the bizarre thing, I've had a call tonight from another potential buyer who has already called about 2 other horses this evening but been told they have been sold, unseen, to a chap who fits the same description. Something fishy going on here!

Anyway. Off to fulfil my preggo desire to have a fishfinger and chip butty slathered in tommy sauce.

SilverSky · 25/03/2010 20:57

I could go to Amersham, however I knows people that work there..... which throws up

The bird at FMC said that the earliest appt based on my dates is 8th April and its the optimum time.

So should I stick with 8th?

Secondly, what do I tell work, as not supposed to have two people off on same day, but I was thinking about taking half day, but I would need to give darn good reason why. So do I tell main boss and tell colleague something else? Oh man, I is in such a stressy about this....

SilverSky · 25/03/2010 21:03

pandy hang on in there, the right buyer will come along. No way would I let someone take it off hunting for a trialm dread to think what could go wrong and what you could be left with eg: knackered nag.

SilverSky · 25/03/2010 21:08

I could go to Amersham, however I knows people that work there..... which throws up allsorts of ishhoos. Why is my life never straightforward.

Should I phone FMC tomorrow and say I can't get the time off work and is there anyway they can bring it forward? Knowing my luck no and they'll charge me a canx fee.

PS - wanted to ride today, but felt so god awful after mucking out it was all I could do to drive home and dump myself on the sofa, crashing out for nearly 2hours.

Have since been emotional wreck and Husband is chuckling at my irrational behaviour.

carrotsarenottheonlyvegetable · 25/03/2010 21:24

Silver

Pandy still

casper cheers!

We've been invited to Mozambique to judge an event at the charity we support there, and feeling pretty I can't go for ages - at least until I stop BF (coz of anti malarials) and then some unless we don't take baby as I'm not happy with him taking AM until he's at least 4

SilverSky · 25/03/2010 21:29

rots so glamorous. Whats AM?

SilverSky · 25/03/2010 21:30

Ignore. Have worked it out.

CurlyCasperReturns · 26/03/2010 07:55

Fuck all sleep. My back and ribs are in agony no matter what position I am in. PLease tell me this will not go on for the next 17 weeks?!

Bra-buying and eye test today, what fun!

pandora69 · 26/03/2010 08:00

Rots I go to Africa all the time with work, and while you are right not to be taking baby, you could go for just a couple of days when he is old enough to leave with someone. My mum looks after my daughter when I am at work, and has done since she was 10 months old. Obviously we are all very happy with this set-up (except when me and my mum have an argument about something daft like chickens and then don't talk for a week .) I only go to Africa on 3-5 days trips, and it would be easy to store enough breastmilk for that duration. I don't take anti-malarials - you just couldn't for the number of times I am backwards and forwards out there. Now I wouldn't normally encourage people to go to Africa without good protection. (My dad is married to a Kenyan lady and somehow thinks that gives him some kind of voodoo protection! Stupid man!)

You do have an option - do what we do on trips - cover yourself in DEET (not nice stuff, I know, but not nearly as bad as malaria,) wear long sleeved and long trouser clothing dawn and dusk, and only sleep in an airconditioned room with the windows closed. Keep the aircon on all the time, and about an hour before you go to bed use a knockdown insect spray. Sleep under a permethrin soaked mozzie net. This has done me well over the years, and I have done such daft things as sleep in a hut on the beach in Tanzania, malaria capital of the world!

It's not a guaranteed way to not get malaria, but then again you can still get malaria even when you are taking the tablets. But only you can make the decision. I suppose I'm trying to say you can be a good mother and still have a little go at the things YOU want to do. At some point in the first 4 years of his life you will have to leave him with relatives for a little bit! You might as well enjoy it!

What charity do you support in Mozambique? I go to a slum project and nursery school in Kampala in Uganda. It's terribly sad, but I love the optimism and attitiude of the people there and try and do what little bit I can to help.

As for the horse - I have 2 gentlemen coming to see him today who sound a bit more normal. They are both older men who have dodgy knees who are looking for a big hunter that will look after them out hunting and hacking. Sound just the job. Weirdly, one of them was relieved to hear he hadn't been sold, because he had called about 2 other horses and been told they had been sold unseen to a man who fitted the weirdo master's description. Something fishy going on!

Silver you didn't miss anything by not riding yesterday - the weather was crap.

pandora69 · 26/03/2010 08:02

BTW you know you are pregnant when your eyes fill up at the new CBeebies springtime song, because you think those little boys' mothers are going to look back on that clip of them conducting the flowers to grow and think fondly of their children when they were little. Hormones!

skihorse · 26/03/2010 08:31

rots I realise my stats were flawed in that manner, but I still think it's an unbelievably low risk. We could also compare those stats to cot deaths - all babies sleep, non? There is a risk of babies dying of all sorts of things, as horrible as it is to think about. C'est la vie! I just think it's utter fucking hysteria whipped up by the media. Again. When you yourself are so adamant you won't be preached at by government bodies wrt what you eat, I find this an unusual stance for you to take, that's all.

pandora I can see both sides of the trial thing really because I wouldn't want someone to buy Ginger and decide after a month it's not the horse for them and they end up neglecting her/worse. But, I think it would have to be a trial at my yard, you know, you want to "trial"? Fine, today is Saturday, you can ride her here and out hacking with x, y and z on Monday and you can let me know by Friday. . I do hope these older gentlemen are the real deal though. Buying horses unseen? Are horse-pelt coats coming back en vogue?

Can I say that my life has also been stoled?

We had chinese last night and I am also off this morning for a trip to, once again, have a chat about my urine test results.

However, I bet none of you got back from the Chinese to find you'd locked yourselves out of the house ('I saw you pick up you house keys' 'yeah you didn't see me put them down again when you picked up your car keys not knowing you'd given your house keys to the builder' etc for a short while on the doorstep)

But how's this for fortune. The keys were within sight of the letter box (duh) and the skip was full of lengths of wood with nails in the end! Voila! Keys hooked and delicately withdrawn into my waiting mitt. Thank god, but a valuable lesson in security. Luckily the food hadn't gone cold either...

skihorse · 26/03/2010 08:55

Oooh, I love a man who can win a prize at the fair!

Sounds like a normal state of pregnancy to me. Milk in the cupboard, clothes in the oven & keys placed lovingly BACK on the hall-stand.
