Hello all,

Can I join????

I just found out I'm pregnant yesterday and in deep shock. EDD should be 5th Nov. I have 2 dds already, ages 6 and 3 and I'm 40 in a couple of weeks.
Feel surprisingly energetic so far. Hope it lasts!

gingertoo · 02/03/2010 10:34

Hello everyone

Another November due date here (03.11.10 according to the calculator!)

I'm expecting my fourth baby. I've already got 3 gorgeous boys.
Tried all of last year to conceive without success, so decided at christmas to stop trying and bingo! here I am!

Still in shock - only did the test this morning. DH has gone off to work speechless...

hmmSleep · 02/03/2010 11:23

18 now, wow! Congrats biscuitbear and gingertoo!

and congrats to Booboobedoo (love the name) and Kelsuprise too!

So, whose stopping wearing underwired bras already? My breasts are so tender now I'm going without if I'm staying home.

addictedtomn · 02/03/2010 11:35

surprisingly my boobs aren't that bad! the last 2 times they have been awful and so bad i cant sleep at night with out a bra on, but this time they only hurt when i sleep on my front or get groped

any other symptoms today anyone?

rollerbaby · 02/03/2010 11:46

Hello all newly preggy ladies. Welcome to the next 8 months!

Hmm are you serious - you can't wear your bras? Ouch. Mine are tender if you feel them but not too bad. No groping for now thanks.

Today have a funny (not metallic) taste in my mouth. And have definitely had lots more poky twinges downstairs - in a good way, not a worrying way.

First consultant meeting in less than a week now, very much looking forward to it. As this is my first, I'm wondering will they be able to hear the heartbeat? I'll be 6 weeks exactly...

Annoyingly have had a few really interesting work offers from recruiters in the last few days, which am obviously not going to do anything about. I don't suppose you can turn up to an interview and go, and by the way I'm up the duff and will be off in about 8 months, can you???

gingertoo · 02/03/2010 11:50

Age 38 (to complete my listing!)

at 'getting groped' addictedtomn!

My DH's comment about my boobs last night was what made me take a pg test this morning!
I was in the bath and he said 'Wow!... You're not pregnant are you?'

addictedtomn · 02/03/2010 11:51

honeymoo, iirc the heartbeat doesnt develop untill between 6 and 7 weeks

addictedtomn · 02/03/2010 11:52

sorry honeymoo i also met to say there is currently a thread about just that in aibu

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 02/03/2010 12:01

Welcome to all the newbies

Last time I was nauseous, knackered and went off diet coke. This time I am finding caffinated tea a little strong but everything else so far is fine.

For those of you thinking about non underwired bras these are fantastic, they do have a small wire but it is very flexible. I know they are under Mastectomy Bras but don't let that put you off, they are gorgeous plus comfortable and I will be splashing out for pregnancy!

honeymoo - deffo allowed curry! Can I ask why you are seeing a consultant so soon? I had an EMCS last time and will be going for an ELCS this time so will be consultant led as well probably. Also I took new job whilst 4 weeks pregnant, I just didn't tell them until the time was right.

Ebb · 02/03/2010 12:05

Hmmsleep I had a really early booking in appointment with my last pregnancy. At 6wks if I remember correctly. The midwife put a lot of pressure on me to book a nuchal scan. I did say I wouldn't terminate if the baby had downs etc and her reply was "Yes but you only hear about the ones in the street, you never hear about the ones living in institutions" I suppose I can see her point. You don't hear about those children. I'm still not sure whether I could terminate so I'm not sure whether I'd go for the tests which I will no doubt be pushed towards. Obviously that pregnancy failed and after my mc, I'm almost doubly sure of my views but I suppose until you're faced with problems, it's easy to 'decide'. My ds has a heart condition so I know there is a high risk of this one having a problem too.

The nausea continues but my boobs aren't too bad although I have banned Dp from the vicinity! I was going to splurge on new underwire bras last week but M&S didn't have someone free to measure me. Lucky really as I'll probably go for the good old, wire free, boulder holders!

I'm seeing the doctor on Fri to book in. Manchestermummy I've never had to give a sample at the GP's. They've always taken my word for it.

I could sleep for England at the moment though. Ds woke up at 4.45am and proceeded to go back to sleep lying on my head. Normally he sleeps well but he's a bit under the weather at the mo. Don't think I'll get much housework done today. I need to mumsnet rest!

fifisboys · 02/03/2010 12:43

honeymoo With my 2 ds's the mw didn't listen in to heartbeat until i was around 14 weeks iirc, i had a doppler and could hear it from around 12 weeks though..i think it can be seen on a scan from around 6-7 weeks

crumpetsolo · 02/03/2010 17:20

LibrasBiscuits - sorry to be nosy, but have you just taken a new job? Or last time you were pregnant? I'm in the same position and umming and ahhing about whether to take it and whether to tell them. Taking the sheen of my exciting new pregnancy a bit I have to say!

fromheretomaternity · 02/03/2010 17:25

Glad someone mentioned boobs. Mine feel gigantic already! People at work are either going to suss I'm pregnant or think I've had plastic surgery!

Going to need to buy new bra, was hoping to avoid sad saggy maternity bras for a while, might just stick with a bigger wired bra for now...

Didn't get this at all with pregnancy no 1. Guess the body just springs back into pregnancy mode second time round.

LibrasBiscuitsOfFortune · 02/03/2010 17:36

crumpetsolo - Last time I was preg. I had been contracting with them for about a year when they asked me to go permie, I was about 4 weeks pregnant. I didn't tell them, took the job and then pretended it was an accident. Not a noble thing to do but I wanted a secure job to go back to. I went back after 7 months mat leave and then they were bought out and everyone lost their jobs! It was a large company which could swallow the cost of me being away so I didn't feel guilty.

MarthaFarquhar · 02/03/2010 19:31

I'm fairly new at work too, at not looking forward to revealing the news that I'm pg. I only started here the week before Christmas.

Also I will be unable to undertake certain parts of my role once I have disclosed that I am pg. I am really not looking forward to that conversation with my (childless male) boss.

On the up side, I haven't been sick with this pg, although I vomited for England with DC1. Just getting a spot of very mild nausea if I don't eat for too long. As a consequence my clothes are already starting to get a bit uncomfortable . I dread to think how much weight I'll end up putting on .

addictedtomn · 03/03/2010 11:33

well everyone is quiet today. i'm a bit paranoid, my ms has disappeared as has the proddy feelings i was having and the sore boobies have gone completely...not that they were very sore to begin with.

although my hormones are still all over the place and i could still wee for england!

addictedtomn · 03/03/2010 11:34

just as i pressed post message a wave a nausea i dont think i've ever been so relieved to feel sick still early days tho

Pidgin · 03/03/2010 11:45

Ebb · 03/03/2010 11:49

Congratulations Pidgin. I think spotting is common but you are always going to worry. That's perfectly naturual. These early days are always so stressful are't they?

PoodleMum · 03/03/2010 12:14

Hello, can I join too?
I think I'm due on the 3rd Nov with my first baby. Have been trying since October when I came off the pill, and was very surprised to miss my period and get BFP last week as had no symptoms at all.
Still don't really feel pregnant and nervous of the next few weeks.
Anyway have added myself to the list, and hope to get to know you all better over the next 8 months!

Welcome Pidgin and PoodleMum

Just back from a day of jo jingles, soft play and baby ballet, shattered!

addictedtomn, I know what you mean, one moment I'm complaining because I feel sick, tired etc, the next I'm worrying why I'm not feeling sick, tired etc! Have also developed a mouth full of ulcers and a cold sore (delightful) don't you just love the way your body kicks you whilst you're down. Generally though the ms has been much improved, think early nights and eating little and often is the key!

pidgin I know a few Mums who spotted in early pregnancy and went on to have healthy happy babies.

Booboobedoo · 03/03/2010 19:57

Hi Everyone,

It's very comforting reading all this. Even though I felt dandy until week 6 last time, I'm having to suppress a rising panic that something's wrong.

Last time I seem to recall my GP letting me hear the heartbeat with a doppler sometime before the 12 week scan. That - and some vomiting - will make me feel better.

I've already got a little hard lump below my tum. Anyone else? I keep surreptitiously stroking it when (I hope) no-one's looking.

My DS is quite fond of stroking his tummy too, so we both sit there on the sofa with our tops pulled up.
