BFP today!

Think I'm due 30th Nov with my second baby. Had mc in Nov last year at 5 weeks so will spend these early weeks trying to remain calm, can't really think beyond hoping to get to a 7 week scan.

Will tell DH tonight when he returns from work trip.

Drank gin & tonic and bubbly over the weekend as was convinced I wasn't pg. Have stopped drinking coffee today. No symptoms yet.

Lorelai · 24/03/2010 17:44

Hi all! Another one graduating from the TTC boards (hi digitalgirl!). Got my BFP yesterday.

Due date is either 27th or 29th Nov depending on which calculator I believe (MN says 27th, BBC and NHS say 29th). I think I will stick with the 27th for now as that happens to be my birthday!

This is my 2nd baby, currently have a DD who will be 2.10 when this one arrives. She was a bit of a.... surprise so this stage of pg is new to me (only tested at about 10 weeks last time!)

hi lorelai & digitalgirl welcome

Its good to see you here

Lorelai i still love your name!

applegirl · 24/03/2010 18:12

Hello

Well I have decided to join in having spent the last week or so 'lurking'! I've been too paranoid to post anything in case anything goes wrong, but have so enjoyed hearing all about your pregnancies that I am going to go for it and get stuck in too

This is my first pregnancy, I am 33, and my due date is 10th November according to my doc, although my calculations make it the 12th... I have an appointment with the midwife on 7th April.

Have told in-laws, parents and sisters, but that's it. Not planning on telling anyone else until 12 weeks (fingers crossed).

Symptoms so far have been sore boobs, tiredness, and the odd headache - no MS so far, which I have been quite worried about, but my mum says she never really had any with me and my sisters... so hopefully that means I am just very lucky, and not that it's a bad sign!

Anyway - hello everyone, hope you are all well x x

Lorelai · 24/03/2010 18:32

Hi addicted - loving your new name too

Hi applegirl - I wouldn't worry too much about lack of MS - I didn't have any with my first (just lost my appetite for a while).

Katey1010 · 24/03/2010 18:33

Hi applegirl, glad you stopped lurking!!! The way I see it is that MN doesn't count as telling people because we're all sort of in the same boat. I've only told DH and two close friends. I've also not had MS, just feeling tired, a bit nauseous and grotty.

Fenouille · 24/03/2010 18:42

Good evening everyone I've been paying for my evening with House today - I've been fighting the urge to snooze behind my desk all afternoon!

Katey1010 You are naughty! I'm sitting here (eating macaroons tum-ti-tum ) thinking, "Chips and cheese? Blergh." And then you oh-so-cheerfully mention poutine and BAM - I've found my first craving We lived on it for a fortnight on our trip around the Gaspésie YUM and the cheese qui fait cuik haha Damn, I suppose you can't ship some over here can you?

NBelle · 24/03/2010 19:28

Evening Ladies

Was hoping to run something by the more experinced ladies on the thread.

For a few days now i have been getting a dull ache in the lower belly area. The best way i can descirbe the area is if you think of your lady garden as an upside down triangle, it is at the two top corners. It is mainly on the right side but also on the left. I have googled a few things that say it is ligaments and muscles stretching but I was just wondering if anyone else was suffering from anything similar?

It's not a sharp pain or anything, it's just more of an ache that comes and goes especially if i am standing.

Would appreciate anyones advice, whether it is nothing to worry about or if I should get myself off to the doctors.

tiredandgrumpy · 24/03/2010 19:50

Am just joining the thread to say I'm due on Nov 18th with my 3rd. Have had a 4 1/2 year gap so it seems strange to be going back to all of this, particularly as I've been feeling rather old of late!

I'm feeling fairly casual so far, trying not too get too carried away. Haven't told anyone & won't until we've had the ok at about 13 weeks. Also had a late m/c a few years ago which just doesn't let me relax into the pg until 2nd trimester. Am not feeling sick at all, but I think that may be all to come - have a vague memory of 6 weeks being the key point with my last 2.

NBelle - I do remember this stretching feeling. I think I read somewhere that it is simply your body getting used to being pregnant, or stretching as you note. Nothing to worry about, I'd say.

Good luck to everyone here! I'm amazed at how many have owned up this early. I still feel somewhat in denial.

SarahAggie · 24/03/2010 20:03

Can I join in? I am due early November, so think I am about 8 weeks. This is my first and I am very scared. We have been ttc for 18 months and had two mc's. Seeing midwife on Friday. Desperately trying not to think about it in case we have bad luck again this time. I won't buy any books and feel a bit cheated that I can't enjoy these early weeks which should be exciting.
Everyone knows we've been trying so keep looking at my tummy but won't say anything either. Had a big party for my DH at weekend and had to pretend to drink all evening. I really hope I can start to feel excited soon.

nbelle is this your first? During the first few months your uterus has to strech and with the first you can really feel, for me it almost feels like the first day of my period but only lasts for about a minute at a time. If your really concerned go see your doc or mw

Welcome to all new comers, sarah its a shame you cant relax, but i know how you feel having had 2 mc previously, this is also my 1st baby. I've had 2 scans already and i'm only 8+6!

addictedtothefirsttrimester · 24/03/2010 20:30

night saphire, i'm also going to bed, infact i'm led in bed typing this!

your mental! How far are you? If your past 8 weeks it is possible tho so you may not be mental!

funbun · 24/03/2010 20:51

Sorry I made you all crave Bounty bars.....

Welcome to all newbies. Takes all evening to read the posts.

Nbelle, I get those triangular aches a lot, sometimes when I roll over in bed or when I stand up. Think its just the uterus stretching, don't forget its got to stretch a heck of a lot more in the next few months.

Katey1010 · 24/03/2010 20:52

Fenouille tell you what, you send me proper pain au chocolat and I'll send you poutine!!!

Glad NBelle you brought up the weird feeling. Been having that too. Also very pleased to be thinking of my "lady garden as an upside down triangle". I think that beats the earlier "in your loins" quote for me!!!

LadyBee · 24/03/2010 21:10

pidgin I hope your scan tomorrow gives you reassurance.

What are you studying 'Threelittleducks*?, I'm amazed that you were able to concentrate at all in the evenings. Weirdly, I do crave carrot sticks, etc - same as last time. I like cool, crunchy or sweet things so it's carrot sticks, grapes, apple slices that I'm snacking on during the day. Night times are a bit different.

mumcha, sorry you still don't have a definite answer - fingers crossed for Friday.

sapphire hope you can cope with all the cooking, will you have help to get through it?

digitalgirl and lorelai hoorah! nice to see you, and good luck!

applegirl welcome too, and be happy if you never get MS or nausea, it's really nothing to long for and doesn't have any bearing on the success or otherwise of the pregnancy

NBelle it probably is ligaments, I'm starting to get more aching and odd stretchy feelings. One thing to watch out for (remembering from last time) is sneezing and coughing, make sure you've got both feet on the ground, it can be really painful if you're off balance!

Hi to all the other newcomers, lovely to have you with us. My (late) dinner is about to arrive so should put the laptop down and get ready. A better day MS-wise for me today, thank goodness, but am v tired. Hopefully I can stay awake long enough to eat.

applegirl · 24/03/2010 21:25

Thanks for all the welcomes

Katy1010 you are right - we are all in the same boat, and I am pleased to have stopped lurking now

LadyBee thanks for the reassurance about the lack of MS - I hope yours eases off for you soon.

I know someone mentioned something about what to drink to vary things a bit! I have treated myself to full fat Ribena (as I realised all the 'no sugar' squashes are full of nasty sweeteners instead. I also bought some Green and Blacks hot chocolate for a nice evening drink, which has been quite nice too - although I am sure my teeth will probably start dropping out with all this sugar!!

digitalgirl · 24/03/2010 23:08

I never had particularly bad ms with ds, found any nausea was easily smothered with a double breakfast and a carb heavy dinner. Am going to attempt to not eat so much this time.

No symptoms other than the stretchy womby twingey sensations that others have mentioned. But it is incredibly early days for me.

Anyone else on number 2 and finding their attitude completely different this time? For instance I have just been to the pub for a glass of wine (and to tell dh the good news). I drank coffee & booze throughout the 2ww, although will do my best to abstain from too much caffeine from now on. Oh and I had a smoked salmon bagel for lunch.

bunnygirl80 · 24/03/2010 23:11

I've been offline for a few days and this thread moves soooooooooooooooo fast it's hard catching up.

Looks like I have a due date buddy now

Welcome to all the newbies

pidgin and mumcha good luck with your scans - I hope you both get good news

I can feel the gradual onset of nausea at the moment - strangely I'm OK with eating pretty much anything I like, but the smell of other people's food makes me want to hurl. Especially if they're eating dairy or fish!

NBelle · 25/03/2010 06:08

Thanks everybody for the responses, I feel i can breath a sigh of relief now.

Although it does mean i have to go find something else to obsess about now

MORNING!!!

Feeling chipper this morning. Still feel like hell though. No playgroup for us this morning as I feel horrific! Just plucked up the courage to eat something...cheesy wotsits. I am a dustbin! Was seriously the only thing I felt like. Wavering between sick and starving. I hate it!

LadyBee I am studying my masters in English at the moment. Call me crazy, but when ds was born, I had just graduated with my English degree and the question of starting my career was, well, out of the question for me until he was a bit older. So I decided that I would do a masters part-time, which meant I would have my MLitt by the time he was 3 and I could start a career. Now I'm deferring for a year so that I can have this baby, so I should graduate (finally!) in 2012.

In the words of Bobby Burns: "The best laid plans of mice and men, gang aft a glay".

So true. Nothing in my life is ever straightforward!
