I spent the day with my parents, sister and her 3 kids. My mum presented me with a bag full of gorgeous baby stuff - babygrows, blankets etc for mothers day. Was really touched.

I am 19 wks +5 and have still felt no movement. Anyone else got to this point without feeling anything? I know what to look out for - fluters, bubbly feeling - but so far nothing.

girlsyearapart · 15/03/2010 07:42

blueberries our DH's seem to be on same wavelength- I got two huge bars of Cadburys for mothers day-he knows me so well

pamplem0usse · 15/03/2010 08:55

Ah sounds like you all had a lovely mothers' day.
My DH relented from his 'you're not a proper mum until you've had the baby' status. His Dad and he cooked dinner for me and his Mum; his Mum gave me a lovely set of Neals Yard Mum to Be toiletries and he bought me Rachel Cusk's book 'A Life's Work'. There was also a card complete with pretend little person's writing in colouring pencils! So I had a lovely day, though unfortunately still being sick (was twice yesterday) at nearly 17 weeks. Boo!

xxx

marzipananimal · 15/03/2010 10:04

Lucky you pamplem0usse, my DH is still of the 'you're not a proper mum until you've had the baby' opinion.

I had a really realistic vivid dream about giving birth last night. I dreamt that when I got to hospital the midwife checked me and I was 14.5cm dilated (of the 15cm required in my dreamworld) and this had happened without me noticing a thing. She then broke my waters and the baby (a girl ) just whooshed out with a couple of pushes! I hope that really happens!

When I took her home though I couldn't get her to feed and I kept forgetting where I'd left her around the house . I hope that bit's not real!!

CherryPie3 · 15/03/2010 10:38

Morning everyone, did we all have a lovely weekend?

I am currently proudly wearing for work today a bracelet that my dear sweet dd made me for mothers day It's got lots of different coloured beads on it and a big pink spotty heart. And she kept it a secret until yesterday - that never happens!!!! Ds made me a card with his photo on the front. Love my babies children.

Spent most of yesterday baking chocolate muffins with my mum. Nice easy chilled day - the in-laws took the kids into town and spent lots of money on them, so they're happy

Does anyone remember my grumpy manager that didnit like me going to a/n appointments? Well....turns out she's 13weeks pregnant . No wonder she's been grumpy....(wonder if she'll lighten up a bit now she's in the same boat)

My little dd turns 5 on Wednesday, I can't believe it. She's officially a little girl. Not a baby - as if she doesn't remind me enough. She's informed me that she wants a High School Musical birthday card, with a HSM keyring, a new packed lunch box and bottle for school and a trampoline.

pample and jenny can't believe you're still being sick!! You poor ladies, hope you feel better soon!!

Carol I didn't feel anything until 20-22 weeks with my first - have only just recently started feeling frequent movements with this little one (3rd) due to my placenta being anterior. Perhaps yours is too?

Am definitely wondering where MrsZaC has got to. Hoping she's too busy with a bump to come and play

Can't remember who posted the link to that swimsuit but want to say it's lovely , I need to look into getting one as my bump will not fit into a normal sized one now . Am thinking of getting the stripey one from mothercare? Hmmm, decisions decisions...

I'll pop back later as it's getting quite busy at work now - xxxxx

Despite many, many hints I didn't get anything for mother's day. Last year when DD was teeny and DH was abroad my brother helped DD get something but this year it was up to DH to help. He was grumpy all weekend too, and with DD being sick it was a complete arse-ache tbh.
Beautiful day here too, DD and I went for a walk to look at some horses and she toddled about in the excuse for a park we have here. I'm hoping to get out to see the ducks this arvo as long as the sunshine holds.
I'm hoping to have the energy to go swimming tonight, I went last week and it absolutely drained me but it was worth it!
cherrypie my placenta's anterior too so I feel little pokes but not full on kicks.

Jaysfourth · 15/03/2010 11:16

quick question

should i be worried about a headache i woke up with? took two paracetamol about 9 this morning, have drank loads of water, but still it pounds? i am almost 17 weeks.

pamplem0usse · 15/03/2010 11:21

marzi wish my labour dreams were like that!
Jays I get headaches like that from time to time, pretty sure it's just surging hormones (I tend to get them on days that I'm sick).
Cherry well hopefully she'll be a bit more considerate now?!!!
Enjoy the sunshine everyone!

Jaysfourth · 15/03/2010 11:29

thanks

CherryPie3 · 15/03/2010 11:33

jays4th you have my sympathy!!! I had awful headaches at that time, until 19 weeks!! Anything could set them off, bright lights especially!!! Have got absolutely no advice as nothing really worked for me. Paracetamol didn't do a blody thing!!
One thing I didn't try tho is those 4head sticky pads that you can chill before laying them on your forehead, don't know if it will work.
You poor thing - hope they bugger off soon!!

OP posts:
pamplem0usse · 15/03/2010 11:50

Jays I forgot to be sympathetic :s sorry!!!! But seriously, I hope they go away soon, but I am sure they're nothing to worry about.

girlsyearapart · 15/03/2010 12:00

marzi I had a really vivid birth/labour/bringing baby home dream the other night. It was a boy though.

ElusiveMoose · 15/03/2010 13:59

Chulita, I sympathise - I had a crappy mothers' day as well. I did get a card, but DS behaved like a total monster all day. Four full-on tantrums, including one 45 minute spectacular because I bit his ice cream cone (he was happy for us all to share the ice cream, but he hadn't realised that you eat the cone bit as well, so he thought I'd 'broken' it ). DH looked after him most of the afternoon because I was frankly sick of him, but I had so much to do in the house that I spent the whole time ironing, cooking and cleaning. Still, at least DH and I had a nice evening - I treated myself to a glass of wine and we watched Slumdog Millionaire, which was fab .

Jaysfourth, I get similar headaches too. Probably nothing to worry about, though if you get lots it might be worth mentioning it to your MW, as they may want to check your BP more often.

In a much better mood today. Sun is shining, DS is angelic again, and I bought myself a pretty maternity cardigan in JoJo (having sworn I wouldn't buy any more maternity stuff this time ). Also got some soft sleep bras. Has anyone else found they've had a sudden growth spurt?? My bump has suddenly gone from noticeable to huge, and my boobs have followed suit (hence the sleep bras). I swear I was barely showing at my 20 wk scan last time!!! Still, at least it keeps me reassured that there's definitely a growing baby in there!

NichyNoo · 15/03/2010 14:06

Hi all - glad to hear you are all well and welcome to the newbies!

I'm 19+2 today and battling with overwhelming tiredness. Seems to have hit me again in the past few days. My non-existant bump has now grown to the stage where it looks like I've eaten too much chocolate...am hoping for proper pregnancy bump soon

20 week scan on Friday...am super excited and also nervous. I think I've felt a few kicks (either that or some very weird wind) and can't wait to see the little one again!!!

DH wants to find out the sex so am hoping s/he complies and gives us a full view of his/her bits

CherryPie3 · 15/03/2010 14:14

Elusive Yep on the growth spurt!! Been like it with each pregnancy tho - get to 20wks then start ballooning with no end in sight til July (or Aug)

Sorry about your mothers day hun, kids can be absolute monsters can't they - and they are fantastic at having the 'best ever' tantrums on the days that you JUST DON'T NEED IT!!!

ps sun not shining here anymore . Please come back.....

Hi Guys

I hope everyone had an ace mothers day weekend! It was so sunny in Yorkshire!

Has anyone had a widwives appointment at home yet? My first appt after ny booking in is tommorow (they rang me on Saturday to arrange it as they'd apparantly forgotten about me- should have been about 5 weeks ago!)

Dibbydab · 15/03/2010 17:00

Afternoon girls,

DH got me a nice bunch of roses for Mother's Day but no card (since this is our first) and he thinks it's a bit daft - obviously will be expecting the full works next year. My sis and I did have a lovely lunch with our mum and an afternoon shopping as it will be the last time with just the 3 of us - though they did spend the whole shopping trip looking at baby clothes - have annoyed them immensely by not finding out whether it's a blue or pink baby

Now 20 weeks and look like I'm smuggling a bowling ball.

Beautiful day here in sunny Devon, roll on the summer and maternity leave

starshaker · 15/03/2010 17:14

Well after a not very great mothers day i decided dd and the twins would treat their mummy to some yummy chocolate
Was back at the docs today with a really bad headache and my sickness being back with a vengance. Turns out i have a sinus infection (that they wont do anything about) and im allowed 4 paracetamol a day so i have to make them count.
Then i dropped dd off at nursery and came home for a wee half hour nap. Didnt work out that way and had the nursery teacher knock my door at 3.30 with dd. Felt very bad. The said i looked ill and if i need them to do this again just to let them know (im less than 5 mins walk from the nursery). So living in a tiny village has its advantages.

weehector · 15/03/2010 17:16

Readings these posts and feeling a wee bit sad that no-one (ie DH) though I was worthy of Mother's Day attention... It doesn't help that yesterday was the anniversary of my uncle's death (really my dad because he brought me up)and I've spent the last few days thinking 'this time last year, I had my last conversation', 'this time last year, I was doing my last night watch', 'this time last year, we were all round the bed..'. I just feel so, so sad and wish with all my heart he could be here to share my baby joy.

And, just to make things worse..I've just been for a job interview for an 8 week contract that would pay £10K less than I used to earn in my last permanent job and I don't think I'm going to get it because I think the main decision maker looked a bit uncomfortable that I was more experienced than her and might be a bit of a threat. As if!! I just want a job so I can have enough weeks under my belt to claim maternity allowance. I'm starting to feel really demoralised by the whole (lack of)work thing..you read that women re-entering the workplace after time off suffer & have to return to work at a lower grade/salary but I've got brilliant quals & experience and I've worked my ass off for 15 years...I didn't expect to be discriminated against before I even have the baby!

And my belly has exploded, my power suit didn't fit and I looked like an elephant in a wrap dress. God knows what I'm going to wear to the posh wedding at the castle this Sunday.

So life is truly shit. I'm going to my bed to drink tea, eat chocolate & read magazines. Please send cake.

Thanks for listening. I'll be happier next time I post,I promise.

Bubbabear · 15/03/2010 19:36

Oh weehector, so sorry you're having such a hard time at the moment Really hope things start looking up for you soon x

To the ladies with awful headaches I really sympathise. Haven't been too bad since i've been pregnant but I've often suffered from bad headaches/migranes in the past so I feel ur pain! I never tried the forehead stuff but I usually use the migrane 'Cool n Soothe' strips that you place on ur forehead. I usually put one on, lay in a dark room & try & have a snooze. Always makes it less intense if it doesn't get rid of it completely.

Midwife appointment tomorrow, hopefully she will tell me I haven't put on too much weight! Lol
Feeling little flutters more & more. It started a few weeks ago, usually just as Im going to sleep (hope that's not a sign of things to come, ie kept awake by a nocturnal kicking baby!). Flutters have progressed to daytime tho, makes me giggle every time. Happened in a management meeting this afternoon, luckily collegues r very sweet to me (they've all had kids) & didn't think I was too odd!

Hope everyones feeling well x

CazEM · 15/03/2010 21:29

Hiya all!

Ok so I'm 19+2 and my left boob just definately leaked a tiny amount of clear fluid! Is this normal at this stage to be leaking already?!!! I woke up with a fluid small stain on my pjs this morning but didnt really think anything of it, but obviously I must've leaked overnight as well!!

I feel bizzare! Haha!

But on a exciting positive note I've definately started to feel baby move, I'm over the moon. It feels like bubbles popping and some of them are quite noticable now! We played music to the baby last night and in the 20 minutes I led there with headphones on my tummy I had 4 really strong "bubbles" - I love it! :D

weehector - sorry to hear things are a bit crap at the moment. Hope you feel better in a few days! Sending chocolate cake and a hug!

Missus84 · 15/03/2010 21:39

I still haven't felt the baby move!

Had my 20 week scan today though - and could see the baby wriggling around so my mind is at rest now Ooh, and it's a boy!

girlsyearapart · 16/03/2010 07:31

another team blue member then missus! can't remember if you had your names picked?

Having a bit of a stress here at the mo- dog needs his tooth out which will be very expensive and realised his insurance lapsed without me realising, even if we had it it didn't cover dental..

Taking dd2 to hospital today for more allergy tests today which I'm really not looking forward to. One of the tests is for peanut I'm v nervous. Tests aren't much fun for her either

Anyway have started feeling the baby move a lot more now which is exciting.

pamplem0usse · 16/03/2010 08:48

Congrats missus.....

I'm actually getting pretty concerned for mrsZac now.... seems v odd that she hasn't been on here for so long. I'm assuming noone has other contact details for her?
xx
