MarquiseDeMerteuil · 02/02/2010 14:19

So here's the continuation of the thread previously known as Due May 2010: Where we get a 'bloom' just in time for the christmas mayhem???
Let's see if this one lasts up until the first birth... Knowing how chatty we can be, I doubt it!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Hollyoaks · 16/02/2010 17:35

ML - I don't think they gave me steroids as the contractions were dying down for twenty minutes and then coming back, but this only lasted about 6 hours in total. I was also not dilating when they checked my cervix and took swabs. Still getting a few tightenings and my stomach muscles are aching but feel fine.

Hollyoaks · 16/02/2010 17:35

Angel - for your dog.

memorylapse · 16/02/2010 18:42

Squirtsmum...I have the same problem..last night I was whimpering like a baby as I hurt everywhere..felt sick..had heartburn etc.

Angel..so sorry to hear about your dog...its devastating to lose a pet.

itshappenedagain · 16/02/2010 19:47

evening all! this thread moves so quickly!

angel sorry to haer about your dog...they do become part of the family.

been to parents for a long weekend...no internet access kils me!
littleowls- i am due the same day as my aunt ( who is weirdly 2 months younger than me) we saw each other at the weekend and even she said that i was massive...the cheek.she also commented on how you could tell more with me as i hadnt put it on anywhere else my dads side of the family are all very normally not bothered about eachother, but my nan ( dads) seemed to be really competative...my mum said when they had gone why didnt she just say our baby is better than your and have done with it...which made me laugh.
then again we managed to have the same due date last time too, but i went first as i had to be enduced.
my mum is getting all exciting now, she has now knitted me some blankets, cardies and hats, and we went shopping and bought loads of bits. my aim this week is to get my hospital bag ready!

i am now getting more and more concerned that i wont be able to manage 2 children on my own or that i will get PND...im just hoping that expecting the worst will make it all seem better...if that makes any sense.
anyway im off to have a rest and unpack.

Pagen · 16/02/2010 20:05

Angel, sorry to hear your sad news. I had to have my lovely cat Pagen put to sleep when he was 12 and it was the hardest thing I've ever done but after time I came to realise that I did what was best for him and I'm sort of glad I could be there for him at the end and help make his passing easier. I know that won't help make things better for you now but perhaps later on.

On a completley unrelated subject has anyone else experienced numb tum? I've had the wierdest patch of numb skin on one half of my bump for 2-3 days...my mum reckons baba is just leaning on a nerve or something but it seems like a wierd place to go numb...just that one patch...is it just me? Should I be a complete hypochondriac and call the midwife in the morn about it?

MoggMum · 16/02/2010 21:27

Angel so sorry about your dog and hope things improve with DH - sounds like that's the last thing you need at the moment

Hollyoaks & ML glad you're both ok now.

Glastochick I've also been reading the advice regarding cats with much interest. We have two Moggs who are spoilt rotten and allowed the run of the house - our bed is their bed (although they don't sleep on our heads!). I hate the thought of shutting them out when baby arrives and it sounds like we wont need to now. I'm sure my female black cat will think the cot is there for her exclusive use though!

Has anyone else noticed that their cats have been acting differently since they've been pregnant? Mine (especially the female) have been much more affectionate and insist on sleeping as close to baby bump as possible. Might just be the warmth but I have read that they can sense hormonal/mood changes - bless

schipo · 16/02/2010 21:49

Angel, I still remember the day when my first ever dog had to be put down. I went in with my mum and held the poor dogs head. I'm still haunted by it now. But it was peaceful the way she just drifted off, and nice I suppose she wasn't alone. Hope you get a good nights sleep anyway and DH gets considerate.

Hollyoaks, sorry about your scare. Last thing you need I'm sure. Hope you get plenty of rest and some quiet weeks.

I'm going to have to read up about Braxton Hicks now of course. Does everyone have them - even if its the first time? I haven't had one obviously, and I'm sure I'll start panicing about labour starting if I do get one. Are you supposed to worry if you don't get them?

MarquiseDeMerteuil · 16/02/2010 22:27

Busy day today, lots to do at work and I didn't get home until nearly 9, just in time to stick a wash on, grab some food and watch One Born Every Minute! DH just called from the office, only just leaving now, poor guy. I'm sure he'll be delighted to find that there's a load of washing in the dryer for him to sort when he gets back!!

Was it you Hollyoaks who posted a while ago about getting slightly anxious about reaching 24 weeks? I know exactly what you mean, although for me it's getting close to 7 months that is making me slightly nervous. Hope this doesn't upset anyone, but my DMum lost a baby at 7 months before she had me, and I don't really know exactly why (a problem with the placenta I think, but I'm reluctant to ask her for details as she still gets upset about it, understandably). I keep telling myself that it's probably the kind of thing they're more likely to pick up on these days, and I try not to think about it, but as I get closer and closer to 7 months I'm conscious of it lurking at the back of my mind.

Sorry to post something so depressing, but I really wanted to talk about it as it has been on my mind a bit.

kateyjane · 16/02/2010 23:32

I'm thinking about you Angel. Look after yourself.

Hollyoaks and Memory - Hope you are recovering and being well looked after.

Sweetkitty - Hope you find something to help relieve your SPD, even if it's just being waited on hand and foot.

MDM - I can completely understand your fears, it is really hard not to be affected by things that have happened to people very close to you. Look after yourself and I'm sure everything will be alright.

Welcome to Glastochick and Whimsicalname

Hollyoaks · 17/02/2010 07:34

MDM - it was me talking about my fears at reaching 24 weeks and like you its due to someone close having an awful experience. My dsis has had two prem labours at 28 and 31 weeks with one outcome resulting in the loss of the baby. I think it was this worry and anxiety plus a lot of stress and long hours at work which has caused the bh contractions which put me in hospital. You really need to try and relax and talk to the mw about it to put your mind at rest and keep your health and well-being a priority. I've also sought help from the women's health psychology service in my area to help deal with my grief and they really help put risk into perspective. Try not to bottle your feelings up though and talk to someone in rl.

Den26 · 17/02/2010 09:42

Hi All,

Angel - so sorry to hear about your dog, hope your looking after yourself...

MDM - sorry to hear about your mothers experience. It is so difficult not to let others experiences affect how you feel. Hollyoaks is right - speak to your MW about it, just talking about it may help you feel less anxious.

Hope everyone else has a good wednesday!

Oh - and despite the snow i did get my new sofa yesterday! Yeah!

LuckyC · 17/02/2010 10:24

ANGEL so so sad. You gave your dog a long and happy life. Thinking of you.

How are you doing, Hollyoaks?

Thanks all for good cat advice - very reassuring. We have brought our cat up to be very cuddly and interactive, so I know he is in for a tricky time, but at least I won't be stressing so much now about it all. moggmum my cat has also behaved weirdly since I got pregnant - more needy/miaowy.

squirtsmum I have started eating crumpets a light carb-based meal before I go to bed and am not sick at nigth any more - worth a shot?

itshappenedagain · 17/02/2010 10:46

morning!

hollyoaks -hope your all better

den26 yeah for the sofa!

im off to the hospital again today, have to be seen the next few weeks too...but dont care if i get my homebirth. have just called to ask the hospital if they can do my bllods and anti-d whilst im there today so i dont have to go tomorrow and then again on friday...its 2 buses and a bit of a faff...plus have to find someone to mind DS whilst i go.

on the subject of food, i seem to graze all the time now, but when out shopping with mum at the weekend, i forgot to eat and started to feel dizzy and sick...but not hungry took me a while to work out why. that would never have happened last pregnancy where i ate constantly.

got some book from the libabry yesterday to have a flick through, nearly completed my list, but still have a few bits and bobs to collect. im just waiting for los dad to get his ass in gear and give me the money he promised to buy the pram

anyway im off to get ready and get a wash on.

take care all!

pigleychez · 17/02/2010 12:06

Angel- to hear aout your poor Doggy. Thinking of you.

MDM-re books.. I had the what to expect one with DD and it was great. Actually a friend also bought me the Mumsnet book- Mums on Babies which was quite good. She didnt know I was a MN addict though so was quite funny

Pagen- Id say what your mum said sounds about right.

Schipo- I never got an BH with DD. This time round ive had a few. I had a coupleof really nasty ones at 14 weeks that worried me slightly but been fine since.

Den- Yay on the new Sofa!

Happenedagain- Hope the hospital is ok.

Im feeling very uncomfortable at the mo with Bump. Baby has its elbow (think) sticking up at the top of my bump which really hurts when it moves it about. The past few days its been pushing it out and you can really see a noticable lump out the top of my tummy. DH felt it move the whole width of my tummy. Hurts to bend over too as this lump is right in the way!

We are off to wedding at 37 weeks and have been invited to the Hen night which will be at 32 weeks.
Its not going to be a wild one.. going to either be in a cottage in Somerset or Centreparcs Spa. Think I will go but just that little bit apphensive about something happening when im hours away from DH. Plus leaving DD for the weekend. I know she would be fine with DH but ive never left her overnight before and very rarely for just the evening. Although this is something we have spoke about doing more of before May for when im in labour.
Think im prob overthinking and worrying too much. The idea of relaxing days and lovely lay ins does sound fantastic!!

Right Missy is now moaning for Lunch, so best get cooking!

Hollyoaks · 17/02/2010 12:14

Yeah, been to the mw and all fine at the moment, urine was clear though not surprised after a week on two different abs though bp was up slightly so have to go back on Monday to be checked again, it was only 110/80 though high for me .

I also mentioned that I would like to ask a few questions about my labour with dd and could she request my notes. Whilst I was tidying up the books dd had scattered all over the floor she had made an appointment to see consultant on Friday . Guess I'll have to get some questions ready.

Sorry to talk about myself so much, hope everyone is well.

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 17/02/2010 13:11

Angel - so sorry to hear about your dog, that's very sad Hope your DH starts looking after you soon.

littleowls · 17/02/2010 13:15

angel - so sorry to hear about your dog, thinking of you.

itshappened - hope the hospital was ok. I've been today too for BP, everything was fine and had my normal 130/90 BP. I feel like grazing all the time at the moment. Up until christmas I couldn't eat much but now I feel peckish all the time.

pigley - I had a wedding when I would have been 36 weeks but now it has been changed again to the beginning of june. So now I will have a 4 week old baby at a wedding (maybe!). The hen party sounds like fun, it would probably do you good to go away and relax - especially if it is a spa. It is hard being far away from DD and DH though.

hollyoaks - hope your BP stays down.

Wishing everyone well. x

Gils · 17/02/2010 13:26

Hi all

'Hollyoaks' - hope you are keeping better
'Angel' - Sorry to hear about your dog
'MDM' - I kinda know what you mean, my mum nearly died having her 2nd. I have never thought about it till last week but I'm first of her daughters to have a 2nd child. I know its nothing to worry about but pregnancy is making me analyse everything more

My friend gave birth to DS on Friday - so happy for her. Named Adam. She is a slim wee thing but baby was 9lb 6 there is nothing of her or her husband. I actually went to there wedding when was pregnant with DD, there wedding was my due date. She was just about to ask me to be bridesmaid when I announced pg. DH was best man, rehersal was funny, usher taking notes on what to do incase DH couldn't make it. Ended up very ucomfortable and emotional that day. She gave me her bouquet and I just howled for what seemed like hours.

Had very emotional day on Sunday DH didn't know what to do with me. Took headache but just kept snapping at him and bursting out crying. Think everything just gets to you. Still running about after folks and looking after niece and her bad behaviour is def rubbing of on DD.

Going to centre parcs in March so thinking I will be hospital bag ready for then just in case.

Did come across a site - gumtree - I'd never heard of it but I am looking for cheap 2nd hand double buggy and because its in your area all easy pick up - some bargains. New fav site!!

Anyway this was supposed to be quick post. Got midwife tomorrow as will be 28 weeks and need to book anti d injection

Carikube · 17/02/2010 16:57

Just had a post all typed out and then lost it ...

Angel hope things are going better for you today.

Positive birth story (as we all need to hear these from time to time!) - colleague had a C-section booked for next week as her baby was breech but ended up going in to labour this week; left work at 3.30pm and had the baby by 7.30pm totally naturally (as the docs decided baby was small enough to try and avoid a section)...

itshappenedagain · 17/02/2010 18:33

hello again all!

carikube- nice to hear a positive.
gils- my aunt and uncle got amrried a week after Ds was born...he wasnt even ment to be there and is just a little bundle of blankets on the photos! was a lovely day though.
consultant was fab today...has now agreed to see me in 4 weeks so that it will be nearer due date, but have to be scanned as apparently the steriods make about 1 in 5 babies bigger and as mine was big last time, they dont want them to be any bigger if that makes sense. saw the top man today and he alos said if i wanted an induction i could have one ( think i'll pass thanx!) but he said a home birth wasnt out of the question as the best enviroment for the mother is where she feels most confortable. so dont have to go back till march. also had anti-d whilst i was there to save me another trip.

has anyone actually received their health in preg grant money yet? i called today to see if they had heard anything but was told that there was nothing on the system so to get midwife to fill in another form! just to be sure.

tinylion · 17/02/2010 18:43

I'm really uncomfortable too - sat at desk and I keep getting kicks which pushes my bump away - baby is still head at the top and he's pushing against my stomach - acid reflux is a nightmare! I have Omazerople (sp?!?) which helps a lot.

Haven't got my health in preg grant money yet, cos mw forgot to give me form. Asked for it yesterday. Need to fill in my Maternity Allowance form, as not working enough for SMP - hope it's a decent amount as I am SKINT!

back very sore, and wearing huge truss type thing, so unsexy it's not true. Went round Metro Centre today (well, to Boots and back) and found myself walking like an old woman, pushing DD in buggy. Shared Happy Meal and Mcflurry in Macdonalds with her...yum...

Off to watch One Born every Minute on Sky plus. Seems to irritate my DH for some reason, cos I get all worried after each episode so he thinks I shouldn't watch - addictive tho!

Hope all is well, love tinylion xx

memorylapse · 17/02/2010 19:23

hope everyone is ok today.

Hollyoaks..hope you are still taking easy

Angel..how are you today..hope your DH is being more supportive.

Schipo..Braxton Hicks I think appear earlier in subsequent pregnancies..so if this is your first..you may not get them yet..with DD1..I started getting lots of BH around 36 weeks

itshappenedagain..its normal to worry about coping..but I was on my own when I had my second and had a toddler too..but we coped just fine..it just made us closer

Gils..which CP are you going to?? we went to Whinfell in September and it was lovely..would have enjoyed it more though if I hadnt been throwing up every 5 mins

Tinylion..my DH wont watch OBEM..I think it reminds him what we have let ourselves in for!

Ive been to diabetic clinic today, had my growth scan and baby is measuring 2 weeks ahead,my actual bump is measuring 34 weeks so midwife and diabetic nurse said most likely I will be induced from 37 weeks onwards..earlier if baby really packs the weight on as the longer the leave her the more compromised she will be after birth..so I could be giving birth in 7/8 weeks...gulp
shes definitely a girl..scan number 5 gave the same answer! next growth scan is for 4 weeks and because there is no clinic in 2 weks..I have to see my MW in the meantime.
It was lovely to see baby again on the scan..shes head down today which explains why OIve got heartburn

mustbemadno3 · 17/02/2010 20:17

piggleychez we are going to a wedding a couple of hours away from us just 3 weeks before due date. Really nervous as no dc allowed. I have never had a problem in the past leaving my dc as think you need time out, but things are different now and I dont want to leave ds2 as he has difficult to control epilepsy and his medication is something I only do, so feel akward leaving him plus too much responsibility for friends to look after him.....hence I am dreading labour no idea who's going to look after him, must put a plan into action asap! But you should go hen do especially if its spa day ..... how lovely. I wont be going on my friends hen do as its clubbing in birmingham and I cant stay up past 9.30 these days!!!

I have loads of bh most days, I had alot with ds2 but I must admit they seem to be earlier this time. Either that or I have no stomach muscles and everything has gravitated south!

mdm sad about your mum, same thing happened to my friend but full term. Very scary but hope we are all blessed with healthy babies x

mustbemadno3 · 17/02/2010 20:22

Have replied to this on may thread. But yes def go, make the most of it while you can and you will be more relaxed for the labour. Dont worry about leaving dd she will be fine with dh and the break will probably be good for them too.
ENJOY X

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 17/02/2010 20:23

Itshappenedagain - I've got my HIP money through, took just over a week. Glad you had a positive appointment with your consultant

We just watched OBEM (recorded from yesterday). Quite enjoyed it although I think it's made DH remember what we'll be doing again soon!
