Due October 2010 - anyone else??

I got a very faint BFP last night and a really nice pink line this morning This will be my third baby, but 2nd pregnancy - I had twins first time round and I'm really hoping for just the one this time.

Due date is 2th October by ovulation date and 6th October by LMP - I'm going with the early date at the moment although I'm sure the NHS will change it to the later one.

I feel as sick as a dog and have nearly puked already which doesn't bode well for the next few weeks. God know how I'm going to keep it quiet.

Right I'm off to buy some more tests to pee on

I watched it loo lol!

It'll be fine, we will be wrried like mad until 36 weeks, then nature takes over and we just want them OUT!!! Teehee!

emskaboo · 10/02/2010 15:52

Ivy, My sister has had home births with all three including her first. I was there for the one of them and it was lovely.

I was booked in for a homebirth for my first but ended up in hospital as I went Christmas shopping (didn't realise I was in labour) and almost gave birth in the loos in Marks and Sparks! Given the speed of my first I am defintely booking in for a homebirth this time again, and not going shopping for a few weeks before I'm due.

If you are thinking of a homebirth the Sheila Kitzinger book here and the Ina May Gaskin book here are both really interesting and the homebirth website is very informative here.

Ivytheterrible · 10/02/2010 16:59

excellent news on the homebirth front

Thanks for the info on the books emskaboo will hit amazon this evening.

I used to work for Toys R Us and a woman gave birth in our toilets! Probably not the dream birth scenario

Now shall I do some work for 30 mins or browse mumsnet... decisions decisions.

NinthWave · 10/02/2010 20:28

Evening ladies

Am not going to add myself to the list just yet - too superstitious (have had 3 MCs in the past) but I want to keep dipping in, just to keep up with you all. Hope that's OK!

Went to the doctor today as MS has started with a vengeance - I get the horrible all-day seasickness, and at the moment all I can eat is bread. Been signed off work as I've been sent home twice in the past week

I asked about a reassurance scan, but the GP can't make me a referral without a reason - apparently, me being scared shitless isn't a good enough reason, boo. I've got a MW appointment on the 19th Feb though, so will have a chat then and if I'm still in bits, will ask for a scan. I had one at about 6 weeks then again at 9 weeks with my DS, so am a bit disappointed that they don't stil offer it.

I just want to know one way or the other if there's actually a baby in there!

picc · 10/02/2010 20:48

Hello again everyone, and congrats/ welcome to all the newbies.

So much to catch up on, but had a manic week. DH has been away all week, and DS has been ill, so basically not sleeping. Have been rolling into school each day looking like a zombie.

So I still don't know if I'm getting any symptoms or not. Am constantly knackered, and keep going to bed early, but when I'm getting woken up every 2-3 hours or so, that's not exactly surprising! I feel a bit nauseous, but am sure it was worse last time. I don't know. I'm not exactly feeling sick, just don't fancy eating anything. No pain in boobs really, but then they've never really gone down again since DS was born. Am still in 'nursing' bras, and am still feeding him. So maybe that's why?

I don't know. I wouldn't be worrying, but my sis had MMC last year, and so I'm more worried than I might have been. Apologies to those of you that have had MCs/MMCs, cos I know it's horrendous. Feel like I have no 'right' to be selfishly worrying about it when I haven't even been through it myself. But sis and I very close.

Anyway!!! am sure I'll soon be moaning cos I feel terrible (fingers crossed) so might as well make the most of it while it's not too bad.....

picc · 10/02/2010 20:52

ah yes! I just watch the C4 programme too. Also cried.

That poor girl with the emergency CS.

Also really felt for older mum. I couldn't push DS out hard enough at the end, and had to have a ventouse. Wish I'd had a bossy midwife like that!

Feel really guilty cos feel like I should have tried harder or something, and am terrified I won't be able to do it this time....

Oh dear! How negative am I being tonight!! Better go before I get any worse...

All I can say to anyone that watched it and felt scared is that you honestly do forget it all afterwards. It's like a dream when I think back on it. And the end result is amazing [dreamy grin]

Sandramac · 10/02/2010 21:34

I just watched the program on catch up and as a first timer it was actually less scary than I expected though the girl having the emergency cs made me a bit teary.

I went to the GP this week and was so tense started crying for no reason when talking to her - oops. Was a bit surprised that she didn't take any samples from me - just said that pharmacy pregnancy tests are as reliable so there is no point. Is this normal? Still having no symptoms (though boobs a bit sore) so getting some confirmation from gp would make it seem real.

Lulabell · 11/02/2010 08:26

Hi everyone

Hope you're feeling a bit better today picc, it sounds like you're having a really tough time at the mo. Dont feel selfish about worrying, everyone does it. I had a real panic attack last night that I might have an ectopic pg, including directions for dh about when to take me to hospital in various situations . I have no specific reason to worry about that, but a good friend and an aunt both had them and it's in the back of my mind. I'm also paranoid about a mc, again, for no good reason, I've just heard enough stories. Sorry to hear about your sister, it's no surprise you're worried.

Thanks for the positive info emskaboo, I'm also going to have a look at those books.

Thanks for the reassurance bex, I'm sure the cramps are the main reason for my ectopic/mc fears. I'll just keep and eye on them.

Has anyone else found themselves drinking for England? I've always been a bit of a desert rat when it comes to fluid intake, but now I'm constantly parched! My dh (who is constantly trying to get me to drink more water) was astonished at how much liquid I was knocking back last night. And it means I need the loo all the time

I'm exhausted too, but I'm sure part of it must be caffeine-starvations

Hope everyone'e doing well

Meanbeansmum · 11/02/2010 09:06

Picc, your symptoms sound very normal, you are bound to worry after seeing someone you love going through a hard time. Hang in there, it will be ok.xx

7 weeks today! Yay, seems massive after the 6 months that I've had. I'm not as sick as I normally am in pg but my gag reflex is in overdrive and the nausea is there too, still tired etc although that's easing off slightly.

I'm having a lazy day today, what's everyone else doing?

dippingbackin · 11/02/2010 09:18

Meanbeansmum - wish I was having a lazy day, am at school today. Luckily we have been given an extended half term so finish at lunchtime (although tomorrow my day off anyway). Was nearly sick in the car park this morning and am literally having to haul myself through each lesson.

I feel better temporarily after eating but only lasts about 20mins - totally gone off anything sweet. Anyone else feel like that?? Am 6 weeks today so not really surprising, seem to remember it was similar with my DS but the memory fades after 7 years!!!

Picc - are you on half term next week?

jennimoo · 11/02/2010 09:46

Picc - was going to ask if anyone else hasn't got many symptoms, as I'm finding it worrying, although know I should enjoy it! I am really tired and not sleeping well at night, but that isn't unusual. A little queasy at times, but that often happens if I haven't slept well! Slight twinges in nipples, but still no growth down there, and I'm at 6 weeks today!

Anyone else not get a lot of symptoms?

x

bloomingbex · 11/02/2010 09:52

Snap again Lulabell It's unusual for me to drink more than 2 glasses of water in a whole day but in the last few weeks I've been getting through about 10!! Does mean many more trips to the loo

I'm parched.....off to the kitchen.....

Ivytheterrible · 11/02/2010 09:55

Jennimoo I am 6 weeks 2morrow and also have really no symptoms - boobs were really sore last week but this has eased off and no nausea or sickness or anything else. Was sleeping really badly at night last 2 weeks but have slept like a dream this week.

I am thirsty all the time!

I convinced myself I was imagining this preganancy but poas yesterday and was still positive and have had no bleeding or anything so I assume it's still there. Don't think I'll be reassured until I see it on a screen.

picc · 11/02/2010 10:00

Aw, you're all so lovely
Lulabell, hope you're okay today.

Think I must have just been a bit tired last night! I work Mon- Weds, so by Weds night, I'm just done for (especially with DH away).

Yes am on half term as from today, because I don't work Thurs or Fri. Thank goodness... Managed to get DS to stay in bed til 8 this morning by just BF him over and over again! so I feel really human and rested and ready to eat myself (little and often) through the day!

Thinking about it, that may be why I'm not as nauseous as last time. I just keep eating little bits regularly, and it seems to stave it off. But by the time I get to morning breaktime (11.00... having not eaten since breakfast) I am ready to bite my HAND off, I'm so HUNGRY! My classes don't seem to have realised that it's ME who's desperate for them to finish for break on time (even more than them) so I can DASH to the front of the food queue!

Anyone feeling sick before they even get out of bed? I remember that kicked in last time at one point. Am a bit worried about how I'm going to stagger about changing nappies when I feel like that.... [retch]!

Yep 7 weeks tomorrow. Wow! Suddenly it all seems more real.

jennimoo · 11/02/2010 10:10

Ivy - That's good to hear. I nearly bought another test to POAS again yesterday, but resisted! If I'd got one in the cupboard I would definitely have done it.

I seem quite thirsty too, though, so may be there really is a baby in there!

Norfolkbumpkin · 11/02/2010 10:27

Jennimoo, I don't have a range of symptoms at the moment. Boobs are a bit sore and I do feel tied, but I think this is down to me waking up in the night and laying there with lots of thoughts running around in my head. I would like some more symptoms in a way as it would oddly reassure me that things are chugging along as normal. Having said that, with my previous pregnancy from 5 weeks I felt nauseous 24/7 which was the absolute pits. I'm probably talking it all up now!

Vikks · 11/02/2010 10:33

I?m very jealous of you who have half term off. I always work longer hours in the school holidays as I run holiday clubs for primary school children 8am-6pm. It?s only a week, but still, wait until we get to the summer then I?ll really be moaning!
I?m 5+1 today, 2 weeks today it the scan!! Hopeful I?ll feel a little more settled when I know all is well.

Ivy & Jennimoo - I?m with you on the not sleeping well; I think I look like a zombie at the mo.
Part of me wants more symptoms so I?ll believe it more?.bet I won?t be saying that in a weeks time.

Picc & dipping enjoy your break!!

jennimoo · 11/02/2010 10:37

Vikks - I'm jealous you're having a scan at 7 weeks. I'm doing a private one but he really didn't want to do it before 8 weeks in case my dates were wrong and there was no heart beat, so I gave in and have to wait til 2 weeks today too, but I'll be 8 weeks exactly.

tiredfeet · 11/02/2010 10:44

ooh I'm jealous of all these people getting early scans. I'm 5+3 today I think ( if we go by my dates, 6+3 if we go with doctor who couldn't get his head round my long cycles), seems like a long time until 12 weeks for the scan!

am also really thirsty all the time, hadn't realised it was a pregnancy symptom. got really ratty with DH yesterday when he took a little sip of my drink - think he has got used to my hormonal mood swings now though

v jealous of everyone with half term, but I know from all my teacher friends how much you need it when it arrives!

Vikks · 11/02/2010 10:50

Jennimoo - We?ll be comparing note then! This will be a slow 2WW. I guess I can have my scan at 7 weeks because they know my date exactly; I can?t wait to see that little heart beat or 2!!!!

Elsa123 · 11/02/2010 12:18

Hello all- saw the doc yesterday and she was pretty nice- didn't want to confirm my self testing though. She reckoned 4.5 weeks, but the EDD she gave of 8 Oct, would make me more like 5.5 weeks. We'll see. She mentioned a dating scan (which would be soo cool as last time , nothing was offered and they were pants- different region now) and asked me to make an appt with the midwife when I get back off leave in a couple of weeks. She asked me if I needed any of the gen I got given last time, like what not to eat. I said no and that I could remember, so she decided to quiz me to check understanding . Of course, I then got a total mind blank and was only able to say nothing unpasturised and nothing raw!

Symptoms are still just sore boobs and random lower abdominal niggles. I feel vaguely quesy but only when hungry. My philospohy is bring on the symptoms as last time I had none, hormone levels were increasing, but it was a 5 week old MMC. To have symptoms past 5 weeks would be reassuring.

How much exercise is everyone doing? I did boxercise yesterday but didn't push myself or do full sit ups, just gentle stuff.

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 11/02/2010 13:59

Ninthwave I hope you feel confident adding yourself to the list here soon! I can empathise with you! Fingers crossed all goes well for you.

Jenimoo Ivy - I'm with you on the lack of symptoms! I need the toilet more and possibly drinking more, and feel abit crampy/ "full" down there iykwim, but with ds I felt nausea etc by now and a lot more tired, so still worrying re MCs - need to relax!!

V envious of all the early scans - I am just moving to a new area, so will need to get registered and seen quickly and hope for an 8 wk scan - I had one with ds in a different area after my prev pg had ended MMC, so hopefully they are sympathetic after my last MC this time too! Fingers crossed!

I'm trying hard not to blab, but for some reason I am telling random strangers at toddler group instead of family...maybe my body is telling me all is well really?!!

KSal · 11/02/2010 14:55

hello, can i join?.... couldn't resist any longer. I really need to tell someone! we've decided not to tell anyone at all in RL until 12 weeks so its going to be hard keeping schtum. Bit supersticious about going on the list too though as its early days.

Booking in appt on monday - guessing EDD will be about 11th/12th?

finding it hard to believe its real... only thing i am feeling at the mo is slight dull crampy feeling like SeaShells... no sickness, but then i had none at all last time... feel totally knackered but that isn't too unusual!!

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 11/02/2010 15:22

Welcome KSal

Do you have other children exhausting you too? my ds is supercharged today and finally down for his pm nap - I should be asleep not MNing

Maybe its true re different sex = different symptoms

KSal · 11/02/2010 15:33

i have a 17 month old DD... she's waking up stupid o'clock every morning at the moment.... and i am pretty much ready to go to bed when she does!

She was due 10th Oct 08 (she arrived september).... so its funny to be doing this all again almost exactly 2 years down the line!

nice theory... maybe i'm having another girl then!
