Due October 2010 - anyone else??

loueytbg · 21/01/2010 13:26

I got a very faint BFP last night and a really nice pink line this morning This will be my third baby, but 2nd pregnancy - I had twins first time round and I'm really hoping for just the one this time.

Due date is 2th October by ovulation date and 6th October by LMP - I'm going with the early date at the moment although I'm sure the NHS will change it to the later one.

I feel as sick as a dog and have nearly puked already which doesn't bode well for the next few weeks. God know how I'm going to keep it quiet.

Right I'm off to buy some more tests to pee on

Meanbeansmum - if they have seen a heart rate in an early scan the risk of having a mc greatly reduces so fingers crossed your flutuating symtoms are more related to your other dcs exhausting you one day more than the other!

I'm up there with all you other worriers I rechecked my cbd pg test today and was relieved to see that it had changed from 1-2wks post conception to 3+, suggesting hormone levels are rising: fingers crossed!!

Welcome newbies!

Hi all and welcome newbies

Meanbeansmum - Great news on your scan. I'm sure everything is fine in there still and it's just a good day sickness wise. I guess you should make the most of those!

Had my blood test results from the docs this morning. HCG levels were 3000 last Thursday and have risen to over 10000 by yesterday morning so all looks well

Cramps have started to wear off over the last few days which is a relief as they were worrying me a little and also I was looking forward to a break from them for the next 9 months

No other real symptoms to report as yet.

Hope everyone else is doing well. xx

Congratulations to all the newbies!!!

Meansbeans - huge congratulations on seeing minibeanie I'm very jealous as still have just under 2 weeks to wait for my scan. My ms comes and goes a bit and I reckon it gets worse when LO is having a growth spurt and then it subsides a bit. At the moment its having a huge one [puking emoticon]

Ivy - I'm having a private scan - for my peace of mind. I can't possibly wait until 12 weeks. Every day is going sooo slowly at the moment. I had one last time as well so we are going back to the same place

Lulabel - totally normal to be very excited - I was (and still am, if a little petrified). Why shouldn't you be - it is amazing

MrsShuvel - I am definitely bigger at this stage than I was in 1st PG. At lot of it is bloating but not all. I think I will be in maternity clothes earlier - just hoping I can hold off for a few weeks otherwise work will guess and I don't want to tell yet.

I feel like I've been hit by a bus (literally) sooo tired, and MS has well and truly started (joy). Loving the all day nausea...

I am really starting to panic about the fact it could be twins again because I don't really feel any different this time round. I know it will be fine but I really wanted to have just one baby this time. It would also mean changing car etc and DH would not be at all happy. It took a bit of persuasion from my part to go for #3. I've got an antenatal appointment with the GP tomorrow. I have no idea what they are going to cover as I have already told them I am PG. I assume it is different from a booking in appointment?

I've updated the list below because I realised that I put down it was my 3rd PG (its my 2nd - confused because I have 2 LOs already). Brain's gone to pot already....

My god, this bloating is ridiculous!! I've had terrible stomach ache this afternoon and finally realised it's because my stomach is trying to burst free of my trousers!!

For the last hour I've been sat at my desk with my trousers undone. Pain is gone but now I have to keep reminding myself not to stand up too quickly Luckily my t-shirt is long enough to shield me from any embarrassment

pookey · 09/02/2010 19:04

Need to read through thread but I got pregnant 1-2 weeks on clear blue this morning! Have ds 4 and a half and dd 2 and a half.

Lulabell · 09/02/2010 19:30

Hi again everyone, it's been great to read through this thread and read all your stories.

Meanbeans, I'm so glad everything went well for you.

Pookey - congratulations!

jennimoo and bloomingbex, I've got horrible bloating as well, I'm thinking of buying maternity clothes just for that!

Has anyone else had lots of stomach cramps? I'm living in fear that it's a bad sign.

Dr confirmed my EDD as 11/10/10, but even he said "maybe you'll be early and get a magic number" lol.

I've booked my hospital today, dr was a bit shocked to start with as I refused the two closest to me, but I'm a medical student in the trust so I've heard all the stories, and he didn't look surprised that I said absolutely not to them. But now I'm a bit worried that it might be too far away. On a plus side, they're renowned for their scans and antenatal care, so I'm hoping it'll be worth it.

I've added myself to the list.

Hi all thanks for welcome lulabell. I have added myself but I am likely to overcook mine by a week or so aswell, which is weird because my cycle is less than 26 days. Both my dc were 9lb dobbers so planning to be careful with my eating (strategy didnt work all that well with dd but at least I didnt gain weight with 2nd pregnancy).

Norfolkbumpkin · 09/02/2010 20:33

Good evening ladies, hope you are all feeling weel and not too tired. I am looking forward to the documentary tonight on channel four following ups and downs of a maternity unit, but i must admit I am flagging a bit now and think I will probably want bed before 9pm. Must stay strong!

I think the tiredness is starting to creep in now, and I noticed this afternoon that my belly is starting to bloat out something rotten. If it maintains it's size I will find it very hard to conceal it, as I am fairly slim with a slight podge of belly after my first pregnancy, so I think I will show much sooner than I had hoped. I really should have stuck to those tummy exercises for the past year!

tiredfeet · 09/02/2010 23:52

norfolkbumpkin did you manage to watch the programme in the end? I watched some and found out at the end that its filmed in my closest hospital so if all goes well I may well be giving birth there (just hope they aren't filming a second series, there is no way on earth I am having a camera near me then )

am also quite bloated, living in my leggings, can't face putting jeans on. But then I was a bit too plump for them (Christmas is to blame!) even before I got pregnant, so not surprising really.

pookey · 10/02/2010 00:00

saw the documentary it made me feel a bit anxious about giving birth again but excited by thought of a new scrunchey baby face.

I better get to bed. I am exhausted too Norfolkbumpkin but cant seem to get to bed before midnight so self inflicted exhaustion. Seem to have had experienced a weird phenomena that my tummy bloated up within minutes of bfp

Vikks · 10/02/2010 09:29

I watched that programme too. From a first time mum-to-be point of view, it was scary! I just kept thinking ?holy shit that's gonna be me in October?, and DH looked worried too. Glad we?ve got plenty of experience on this thread because I?m sure I?ll have loads of questions.

Symptoms ? Not bloated at all and just feeling slightly queasy at the moment. My main problem is my boobs, anyone else? TMI, they look different already and are really painful. I?ve had to buy some softer maternity bras already because all mines were under-wired and too uncomfortable.
I?m not complaining too much, I wouldn?t change a thing! Little Bean must be making a good home in there.

Lulabell · 10/02/2010 09:41

I saw the program, I cried at how scared the girl was about her cs I really hope it doesn't happen to me.

I also told dh he'll have to be a lot more supportive than the other woman's husband if he doesn't want to be divorced.

Dh couldn't watch it. He kept muttering things like "cant believe hospitals are like that here", "dont want you to go to one like that", "cant believe how awful it is"... all very supportive . He's French, and all his friends and family have given birth in cosy little private maternity hospitals/clinics (for what they consider to be the exorbitant price of about 500 euros). He really wants me to do that, but unless I move in with my in-laws for about a month I dont really see how it's possible.

I didnt find it as bad as I was expecting. Much less screaming than I expected. Just confirmed my idea that they're all very very busy, but that in an emergency, chances are it'll all be dealt with.

Vikks I was wondering about buying maternity bras already, I wasn't sure if that was normal or not so I've been holding out. Where did you get them from? My current ones are killing me.

Vikks · 10/02/2010 09:57

Lulabell - Buy one if you need one don't suffer, they are really helping me. I got mine from M&S. They've got a nice 2 pack (one black, one white) for £20. Definitely worth it!

Lulabell · 10/02/2010 10:16

Great, I'll look there Thanks!

dippingbackin · 10/02/2010 10:27

I also watched the birth programme last night - was sobbing within 30 seconds at all the lovely new babies. Then welled up pretty much throughout the programme - hormones are really all over the place.

DP just looked on in absolute horror!!!(this is his first child / my third).

Think I might take your lead Vikks and get some maternity bras - am spilling out of the ones I have.

Norfolkbumpkin · 10/02/2010 10:37

Pookey - I did watch the programme in the end, and just like dippingbackin I sniffed and wept through the whole of the programme! I think it was a combination of hormones and the sudden realisation that I have it all to do myself later this year. The birth of my dd ended up as a emcs, so I have lots of mixed feelings about what will happen this time. I am hoping that watching the series will give me some tips and make me feel more positive rather than a weak willed lily liver!

loueytbg · 10/02/2010 10:52

I watched it too - love birth programmes - made me all well up. I did want to kill the husband (and to a lesser extent the son) - if I was that woman, I would have chucked him out of the room. He couldn't have been less supportive if he tried. I am veering towards having an ELCS (having had one last time because of pre-e) but I am watching in case I change my mind. Because I had twins last time I never really got my head around the labour thing - always assumed I was going to have a CS.

DH was at the football last night (not a chance he will watch stuff like that, maybe I should make him LOL) Watched the first 2 episodes of Glee too - bliss!

I've been to GP this morning and she's filled the forms out to go to the hospital and given me loads of bumpf. Slight complication in that I don't want to go to my nearest hospital so in theory the hospital I want to go to could turn me down if they are really busy but I think its unlikely. It has a bad rep because of lots of problems a few years ago (before I had DTs). Because of that it was put in special measures and loads of money pumped into it. Also - I know where I'm going! The nearest hospital is near Heathrow and is far too busy because they get people coming off the plane to give birth here...

V sick this morning despite eating BEFORE I got out of bed. Fun!

Right better go and do some work

OP posts:
Ivytheterrible · 10/02/2010 11:08

I watched the programme and it has made me really sure I don't want to go into hospital to have my baby... at least then the midwife can't just leave me every 5 mins! I think I might have a fight on my hands though as it's my first child. I do only live 10mins walk away from the hospital though.
Did any of you experienced ones have a homebirth for your first child?

That "funny" guy Steve with the older mum, I would have banished him if he was my husband but she seemed to take it all in good humour so must be used to his antics.

Went to my GP today for general checkup and have first midwife appointment booked for the 1st March which is great...however she checked my hearbeat and said I have a heart murmur! Not so great...now waiting for referal for an ecg.

Only symptom is sore boobs - have been wearing a bra at night which has helped. They haven't grown at all but I'm an E cup anyway so this a relief!

Vikks · 10/02/2010 11:10

Hormones!!!
I went to buy DH a Valentine?s Day card yesterday and started crying in the shop as I was reading them.
I felt like such a freak! Glad I?m not alone?.x

Dipping - Maternity Bras are the way forward!!! Go for it girl.

Norfolk - I?m gonna stick with the watching the programme too and hope it makes me feel more positive than chicken!

Loueytbg - Re. the MS, poor you. Hope you're feeling better soon.

Blimeyoriley · 10/02/2010 11:32

Hello everyone [blimey runs in waving]

Well it's almost a week since we found out. And it's finally sunk in now. I'm not having too many syptoms yet, although yesterday morning I cried uncontrollably for 5 minutes solid over the stupidest thing! Don't you just love these hormones.

I didn't see the maternity ward programme, so I'll definitely watch it on catch up. More uncontrollable tears here I come.

Welcome to all the newbies who've joined since my last visit. Well done, and nice to meet you! .

If you were me, how would you approach this situation I have?
I'm due to go back to work at the beginning of April, as my current maternity leave will end. At that point I will be about 14 weeks pregnant. I'm hoping that like last time I won't show until much further into the pregnancy. When should I tell work that I'll only be returning for 6 months until I leave to have my next baby?!! It's all a bit complicated too as a month after I return to work I'll be transfered to a different organisation (staying in same job) but will have continuous service. And I'm only on a temporary contract which when I transfer will probably be extended until August 2011 (so it's highly unlikely that I'll return to that job, as I'll have 2 DCs under 2 so would rather stay at home with them). How would you approach your employer?!!

And to top things off we REALLY need to move house before I go on maternity leave again!!!

Joy joy joy.

Lulabell · 10/02/2010 12:00

Vikks and Dipping I just ordered some bravado bras (I know, they're fairly hideous) from here

and they have several in clearance for 12.50 each. Although not in many sizes (I'm feeling very happy that they had mine ) could be worth a look. They have 10% off them anyway and free delivery.

Ivy I'm seriously considering a home birth if it's at all possible. I think they might let us first-timers give it a go, if we look problem-free.

Starting to feel very nauseous, I'm oddly pleased about that I wont be when ms really kicks in lol

Hello all,
That channel 4 programme last night was scary! I would have thrown such a hissy fit if that was my husband and son who were doing such a good job of being completely indifferent to the poor lady in the bed. Grrr!
I cried when the girl had to have an emergency c-section. I had to have one too with ds and was shaking just like her. I had the benefit of having a general though so was not conscious to ask why the baby wasn't crying and things. poor girl it was awful and they weren't telling her much about the baby either which was terrible. Oh dear, the trauma! Will I watch it again next week? Of course!

Hope you are all doing well.

bloomingbex · 10/02/2010 12:43

Lulabell - I have had stomach cramps since before I got my BFP, so about 2 weeks now. They range from mild to the occasional painful one. I mentioned it to the doctor and she got me to do a urine sample to check for urinary infections and also did blood tests just to check my HCG levels were rising normally. This was all precautionary though and doc said that cramps are a pg symptom for many ladies.

Good news is as of yesterday they've started to wear off.....and now the nausea has started Fingers crossed your cramps will wear off soon but if you are worried speak to your doctor.

Norfolkbumpkin · 10/02/2010 14:39

Blimey, I can't help you with the employment thing as I too am being 'T.U.P.E'd' over to a new company from 1st April, but we are only guaranteed employment with them for 90 days, so you have my sympathy. Employment law and all that shenannigans is beyond me!

As my last pregnancy was three years ago I have gone a blank on visiting the g.p. to 'sign on'. I am only 4+5 at the moment, so don't know if it is too early to bother the g.p. yet. I was planning on leaving it for another 2 weeks. Have most of you ladies been yet?
