Due October 2010 - anyone else??

I got a very faint BFP last night and a really nice pink line this morning This will be my third baby, but 2nd pregnancy - I had twins first time round and I'm really hoping for just the one this time.

Due date is 2th October by ovulation date and 6th October by LMP - I'm going with the early date at the moment although I'm sure the NHS will change it to the later one.

I feel as sick as a dog and have nearly puked already which doesn't bode well for the next few weeks. God know how I'm going to keep it quiet.

Right I'm off to buy some more tests to pee on

Ooh, Ivytheterrible, that's great - I had a dental check-up just before I found out I was pregnant, paid up, so I'm going to claim it back! I can't do it yet as we haven't told everyone yet, and my dentist is a friend of the family! I know he won't blab, but I still want to tell people in the right order.

Oh, and my GP got me to fill in the exemption form when I went in to tell her I was pregnant, and I was five and a half weeks at the time. My exemption card came through about 10 days later.

Eight weeks today for me!

tiredfeet · 25/02/2010 15:02

congratulations vikks thats wonderful news I'm really pleased for you

jennimoo good luck for later today, I bet the afternoon is really dragging!

I'm feeling a little bit better today after a truly horrific evening yesterday (will spare you the details!), the GP prescribed some meds and they seem to be working (fingers crossed). I still don't have much appetite but at least I am keeping some liquid and tiny bits of food down. I feel a bit guilty taking meds when they can't guarantee their safety, but I talked it over a lot with DH and I figure that it has to be better to take that risk than not be getting any nutrition / liquid for me and the baby. I am also really hoping it works because I know I couldn't go through another pregnancy if it was like these last few days have been . on the plus side though, I am becoming quite an expert in winter olympic sports

shieldbug · 25/02/2010 15:06

Congratulations Vikks, that's great news.

I had my second scan today (lots of early ones due to fibroids) and even though I am only at 6 weeks, there was a heart beat. I have to confess, I shed a tear or two! If you use a magnifying glass, you can just about make out sproglet on the photo!

Good luck Jennimoo, hope you have good news too.

I have by-passed my doctor and got the hospital to book me in directly with a midwife, which they were happy to do, so that's a relief. Sorted!

Tiredfeet, hope you are feeling better soon. I reckon you are right, the most important thing is to make sure you and sprog are getting the nutrition you need. Hope the meds really help.

Ivytheterrible · 25/02/2010 16:37

Ah Vikks that's great news - it must be lovely having the ongoing support from the team that have helped you get this far! Imagine what it's going to be like when you finally give birth! Tissues all round I think.

Meanwhile...

I would still like some more signs that I am really pregnant - so jealous of all the early scans.

Would love to have some ms - well for an hour or so at least!

Asked husband if he wanted to go for an early private scan and he was like "can't you just wait a few more weeks"
...err no 'dear' not really!

Nymphadora · 25/02/2010 17:00

at other peoples scan news

I want a private one but am at £170 just before a holiday

Hermya are you still here? Where are you from?

pookey · 25/02/2010 17:39

Welcome mummylovessadie tinywelsh and Shieldbug .

Hope everything ok elsa
louietbg only one nemo then congrats x

Ugh wrote long post and have lost it.

Feeling very sleep deprived 4 in a bed and a bean doesnt work ended up on the sofa and was in such a grump I couldnt sleep for an extra hour!

Feel a bit nervous posting this but a mum friend has just started ivf this`week, she has had several early mcs. Am meeting her and some other friends in a week or two. I will only be 6 weeks, presumably the most sensitive thing is to keep quiet? Wouldnt really have announced pregnancy on that occasion but when is going to be the right time?

Tiredfeet I dint relise it was the winter olympic man am I out of touch. I always like the skating and also that weird event where they do skiing and archery and other random things

Well you didnt get off so lightly in the end this is still a long post.

Thinking of you jennimoo x

jennimoo · 25/02/2010 18:08

OMG there is actually a baby inside me, with a lovely strong heartbeat!
For me was worth spending £80 for the reassurance.
Thanks for all the good luck messages this afternoon, really helped.
X

Nymphadora · 25/02/2010 18:55

£80 our nearest one is 60 miles and £170 [bloody Cumbria has nowt face]

pookey · 25/02/2010 19:15

jennimoo thats lovely news

Thats a shame nymphdora, seems unfair, might be worth a day trip to wherever jennimoo lives.

Vikks · 25/02/2010 19:19

Jennimoo That's brilliant!!! It feels so good doesn't it? Did you get the pics?

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 25/02/2010 19:38

Congrats jenimoo and vikks how exciting to have seen beany

I'm seeing the gp tomorrow, hoping to get referee for early scan but have my doubts. Anyone had any experience of Poole/Bournemouth hosps? Not sure who to get booked in with.

Just heard friend has mc'd yesterday-she wants to talk because of my experiences but is going to be tough. Really feel for her- she's desperate for a dc

I'm addicted to the olympics. Ds has his nap over the pm highlights which is fab I love the ski and snowboard cross- it rocks!!

Hermya321 · 25/02/2010 20:01

Nymp Can you CAM me?

Jenimoo Thats brilliant! Congratulations!!!

loobyboo · 25/02/2010 21:01

8 weeks today. can't believe how sick I feel , it's worst than the other two, I think I need to find something to nibble on through the day to stop the sickly feeling I get at the point of hunger. Any suggestion. Tried Ginger biscults and ginger & lemongrass cordial no help. Tiredness keeps hitting me, lack of energy, just want to feel better. Sorry having a rant, as I'm only talking to dh and I'm sure he's getting tired of hearing it. Bless him he laughs at me when I say it's all his fault!!

Injections for my blood clotting getting better not quite so bruised now.

See the midwife on Monday can't wait. Then it will be the scan after that, so worried because of the mmc last year 10 wks.

Need to find and excuse for not playing footie on Sunday (dh runs the team) just have to extend my cold
from last sundays game.

shieldbug · 25/02/2010 21:05

jennimoo, I'm so pleased for you, that's brilliant!

nymphadora and Ivytheterrible I'm sorry you can't get scans yet. it really doesn't seem fair, especially when private ones cost so much.

I know it's early, but I told my Mum (on the phone) tonight and we had a good cry together! I'm hopeless at keeping secrets so I'm glad she knows now. dh's parents next, then I need to try not to blurt it out to everybody else before we get past the 3 months stage. I'm sure I'll fail horribly.
Does anybody else just feel like going up to random strangers and telling them?
Must be excited or something!

ThePFJ · 26/02/2010 07:30

Hi I am ThePFJ, I got a BFP yesterday on my birthday, apparently baby is due Oct 24th. I have a little nearly 2 year old boy, who was 'talked' out of me by the lovely girls on the April 2008 thread. I am so excited to be finally pregnant again.

I have already told EVERYBODY. I am that excited. Like my husband said last time... its not going anywhere, so you may as well just tell everyone!!!

Apparently this little one is 6 weeks old and 2.5mm long. I am soooo sooo sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy!!!!!

Love ThePFJ xxx

Welcome to the newbies

Hello to everyone else too. It's good to hear how you are all getting on. I agree that it is so hard to keep it to yourself!

Congratulations on those fab scans, it has made me even more keen to have one, but think I will put off booking it for now.

I think the tiredness should be enough of a sign for me, had 10 hours sleep last night and 11 hours the night before, though have become a 'sleep monster' this last year, so maybe Iam just giving in to it more iyswim. I am still a little anxious, but that coupled with the faintest of queasiness has given me a little reassurance.

PFJ, can you tell us more about your DS being talked out of you??!! Just getting info ahead of time in case we need to do it again for you in October

tinywelsh · 26/02/2010 09:05

jennimoo and shieldbug I am so excited for you, I'm so pleased that everything looked good!

I've got to wait til 31/03/10 for my first scan at my local hosp and it can't come quick enough, I can't wait to see my little bean! I'm going to splurg on loads of photos for the family

Elsa123 · 26/02/2010 09:51

Morning all,
Went to the docs yesterday- haven't got a UTI- he tried to refer me to the EPU, but they are fully booked for the next 9 days. Am back working down south next week, so rang docs there to get an EPU referral- they said they would call me back- heard nothing yet. The doc said he thought/hoped it would be ligaments stretching- I just didn't think the pains would be continual. They aren't bad, just there all the time and worse when I cut around. Its not a crampy pain, but sharp and mild at the same time if that makes sense and central and just above my pubic bone. Does anyone else have this??? My tummy is feeling pretty taut too, can't get it to go down even when laid flat, which feels really odd at 7.5 weeks! Is anyone else feeling like this? Some commmonality would be immensely reassuring. x x

dontstopmenow · 26/02/2010 09:54

How wonderful for everyone having early scans. It makes it so much more real (I guess ms does that but still...)
Met my midwife yesterday and have a scan booked for 15th March which will be about 11 weeks ish. Very excited for that.
Was a bit peeved with midwife as was hoping that she would be able to give me more reassurance than she did - my ds was born 6 weeks early due to an abrupted placenta last time and I am really scared that it will happen again and I guess I wanted her to tell me that it won't! Obviously she couldnt't do that so I was a bit
Rest of the appt went fine though. Just looking onwards to the scan now with all fingers and toes crossed that its not twins!!!
Have a good day all. xx

dontstopmenow · 26/02/2010 09:56

Sorry Elsa,
x-posted. Really sorry that you are having so many pains. I have no helpful suggestions for you I am sorry. Hopefully it will be your ligaments and organs etc moving out of the way. Hope you get to go and have early scan very soon. x

Hermya321 · 26/02/2010 10:48

Welcome newbies and congratulations!!

Elsa I've not the feeling near my pubic bone, but I have had a lot of stretchy sharp pains low down in my right hip and just above it in my tummy muscles. Mine is ligaments stretching and muscles moving as I tried to do some excercise the other day and well the pain came back but it was definately in my muscles. Plus I asked the Doc about it and he said the same thing. I hope that helps somewhat.

MartiniMummy · 26/02/2010 10:48

Morning all - so glad it's Friday! Am tired of being at work everyday and not telling everyone that I'm pregnant!

I've updated the list to include myself - hope that's okay. Also, saw the midwife and she gave me a due date of 2 November - but I'm cheekily going to request that I say in your group? Let me know if that's not okay...

Elsa123 · 26/02/2010 11:09

Why how very dare you Martinimummy . I've got an appointment at an EPU Monday morn at 0830. The doc was veyr nice over the phone telling me that 1in5 women experience bleeding at some point in pregnancy and most of the time its nothing. I just have the scaredy cat factor of it wasn't nothing last time. I pointed out that 1in4 suffer miscarriage- somewhat facetiously I must say. Anyway- I'm very pleased they were proactive as last time the doc was plain mean and said if I was going to miscarry it would just happen and there was nothing that could be done. I know that, but he never twigged that a scan must be reassuring one way or the other. The only down side is I'll be on my own.

Thank you don'tstopmeknow and Hermya123- its just nice to have people understand what I'm on about and will reply to my rantings. You're all great x x

Hermya321 · 26/02/2010 11:18

Elsa No worries, I hope that you get some reassurance at the EPU on Monday, fingers crossed for you. I'm glad your Doc was nice though, it always helps.

jennimoo · 26/02/2010 11:20

I had funny crampy stretchy pains around week 4-5 then the started again in week 7. I convinced myself for a little while I was having a miscarriage (especially when they started again), but obviously that wasn't the case, as all was well yesterday in the scan

I got two pictures with my scan, which I've just been annotating and sending to our parents!

There are places round here (Portsmouth)that do scans for as little as £60 I think, but I went for one that I saw mentioned on forums, and that was close to home. I would recommend them, called BabyScan. Don't know if they have just the one place or if they are a chain.

Shieldbug - I want to tell everyone too! I am getting my haircut tomorrow, and think I better tell the hairdresser, just in case ;)
