Due October 2010 - anyone else??

I got a very faint BFP last night and a really nice pink line this morning This will be my third baby, but 2nd pregnancy - I had twins first time round and I'm really hoping for just the one this time.

Due date is 2th October by ovulation date and 6th October by LMP - I'm going with the early date at the moment although I'm sure the NHS will change it to the later one.

I feel as sick as a dog and have nearly puked already which doesn't bode well for the next few weeks. God know how I'm going to keep it quiet.

Right I'm off to buy some more tests to pee on

Hello all

I am loving one born every minute too, the husband last night was a nightmare, glad he's not mine

Welcome tinywelsh and Shieldbug.

Elsa, sorry you are having such a worrying time.

Hormonal, pregnant women are a force to be reckoned with, nymph and lilmiss you should harness these new found powers, nymph to get your form and lilmiss to get your DH to fix the dishwasher

shieldbug · 24/02/2010 17:43

Thanks for the welcomes
I have another question. When were you guys told to contact a midwife? The GP says I should wait until 10 weeks, but in the meantime I haven't a clue what I should or shouldn't be doing, especially with respect to exercise.
I think I need a big book like tinywelsh's!

QuestionsAnswered · 24/02/2010 17:54

At my surgery we have a booking in appointment with the midwife at 8-10 weeks, I have got mine booked for 8 weeks.

I was told I didn't need to see a GP.

Meanbeansmum · 24/02/2010 18:59

Nymphadora, prescriptions are so expensive!!!!!! They are free in wales, thank god! It's not fair that it's a postcode lottery.

I had some aching this afternoon, not a heavy ache but a niggle, that worried me. I can't wait to get to 12 weeks!

lilmissmummy · 24/02/2010 19:17

Welcome shieldbug!
My doctor said that the midwife will contact me at about 10 weeks so maybe yours will do the same. According to my GP she said to do as much exercise as I feel like but no skydiving, windsurfing, and no horseriding after 24 weeks! I am doing loads of exercise well running to the toilet every 5 minutes today!! Thats enough exercise for me!

I am looking forward to getting free prescriptions (must remember to send form tomorrow) as I am asthmatic with problems with my sinus' and I have to get a prepay certificate otherwise it costs me £27 a month!!! Maybe I should move to Wales.

MeansBeans hope everything is okay with the ache, maybe it is stretching or growing or something... cant wait to get to my scan! Soooo worrying!

Questions - I got dh to do all the washing up !

SeaShellsOnTheSeaShore · 24/02/2010 19:57

Hi everyone! Still here, but still no Internet only the world's slowest iPhone! I'm bloated but no ms still- more pm indigestion and variable nausea, but shattered, emotional and dh assures me my boobs are bigger lol

no mw appt until 13th week but seeing gp on fri for other stuff so going to beg for early scan. Been having really vivid dreams, 2 of which were about mcing, which I did beforemy last mc. Really hoping it's a reflection of my anxiety and not more.

shieldbugs welcome! Nhs website/mn/BBC websites have lots of info:,basically exercise well, just don't over do it, eat well, take folic acid, avoid unpasturised cheese/runny eggs/salami/alcohol/cigs. Um sure there is loads more but have a look.

Sonot quite sure but 8 weeks plus now- time is flying with a ds to occupy me last time I was counting days andhours!

Letsdoit · 24/02/2010 20:11

Hello everyone: am just joining in!

Good luck to you all.

Letsdoit · 24/02/2010 20:17

Sorry am not very hot on this yet. Am i meant to add myself to the list?

Am not sure what my DD is yet but I guess I could use the one I estimate? Is this how this works?

MummyLovesSadie · 24/02/2010 20:36

Hi mind if I join the thread? I've been lurking but didn't want to join in until I had my 7 week scan today - so happy I have a 7+6 bean with it's little heart beating away!

The reason I was so reluctant is because last year was the year from hell, right from January to December. I had three mc's followed by 2 cp's. I started acupuncture with a wonderful lady in January & after two sessions was getting pregnancy symptoms, by the third I had my bfp. I didn't really dare to believe it until today though. I have a 2 year old dd & I'm 40 - eek am I the oldest on this thread??! I have my gp appointment to register the pregnancy on Friday & my booking-in is next Monday.

My heartfelt condolences go out to delilahbelle and excitedfirsttimer. I really do know what you are going through & it's shit. I'm on a very supportive thread that I've been on for the last year & everyone on there has had a least 1 mc & they are all really lovely. It's actually in the conception area as they have all mc'd & are in varying stages of ttc. Some have just had their new babies, some are about to, some (like me) are in the early stages & some are ttc. I know it's early for you to be thinking about ttc again but speaking for myself & loads of others I know, each time I mc'd I was consumed with the need to get pregnant again. Anyway you would get a very warm welcome (they are looking for new recruits) & when you are ready the thread is here

To whoever was asking about the crampy pains, yes they are completely normal to lots of people, me included. I had them with dd & I'm getting them this time, I didn't have them in any of my pregnancies last year.

On the subject of when to tell, most of my friends already know as they knew what I went through last year & were constantly on tenterhooks waiting for me to tell them that I'm up the duff again! I think you should tell the people you might need support from on the off-chance that things might go wrong. I actually find it easier telling people that I'd had a mc rather than saying "I was pregnant but I'm not any more, hence me behaving like a lunatic & ignoring everything you are saying to me"! Even worse is trying to stay strong & carry on as if nothing has happened with those around you in blissful ingorance while inside you are dying a million deaths & wanting to throw yourself off the nearest bridge.

Right I'll add myself to the list....

tinywelsh · 25/02/2010 08:08

Thank you for all the nice welcomes

shieldbug my doc just gave me the number for rhe local midwife and told me to call them, but he's like that for everything. Just found out my huge book isn't as big as it was, half of it's in Cymraeg!

Is that 'One Born Every Minute' any good as a teaching tool or is it just gonna make me more worried than I need to be?

Ivytheterrible · 25/02/2010 09:58

Hi all - just wanted to say about the exemption forms in case it's useful to anyone - I got mine from GP when I was 5 weeks but have to wait until booking in with midwife to get it all signed off and posted - I have this next Monday whoop whoop!

However last weds I had a routine dentist appt. I didn't have the form but told then I was pregnant and got it for free anyway. Apparently they would have to refund it anyway which is more hassle so they would rather not charge and then I just need to bring in the form when I go in 6 months - well worth asking!

It's really weird how different the systems are across the country.

Hermya321 · 25/02/2010 09:59

It's nice to hear that everyone is doing well around these parts. I think it's been a while since I looked on here. Welcome to all the newbies and congratulations!!

Nymph I went to my Docs at 4+3 and they just gave me my form then and there. May I ask which part of Cumbria you're in (you don't have to say) I'm just curious.

picc · 25/02/2010 10:10

Saw midwife for booking in appointment today. She gave me the exemption form all filled out and ready to be sent off once I've signed it. Lucky really, cos I was so confused by the HUGE amount of questions being fired at me that I would've completely forgetten to ask!!

Am reassured about a few things. Apparently it's not a given that I'll have high BP in this pregnancy just because I did at the end of the last one. Also, apparently my body has only just gone back to 'normal' (if it has at all), so this labour COULD be fairly swift (and the last one wasn't that long).

Also, she was quite encouraging about having a home birth. Will have to think it through. Last time, I had no choice but to have DS in hospital (was induced). This time, I'll have a to think about it. They had to pull DS last time using a ventouse, but midwife said interventions aren't always a certaintly in 2nd PG just cos you had it first time.

hmmmm.... dunnooo.... so much to think about.

So sorry to Delilahbelle and excitedfirsttimer.

Congratulations to the new additions! It's going to be a busy month

Am feeling progressively yukkier and yukkier, so I feel for all those people feeling queasy. It really sucks!!

jennimoo · 25/02/2010 10:48

8 weeks today and just 7 hours to wait til the scan. Keeping everything crossed for a heartbeat. Will be devastated if have to tell our families (and a couple of friends) that there is no baby

MummyLovesSadie · 25/02/2010 10:50

Good luck Jennimoo, sending sticky bean vibes your way.

Norfolkbumpkin · 25/02/2010 10:55

Good luck Jennimoo, hope it all goes well for you today.

Hermya321 · 25/02/2010 11:20

Good luck jennimoo fingers crossed for you!

NinthWave · 25/02/2010 11:37

Good luck Jennimoo, it's nervewracking but so worth it! I think Vikks mentioned she has a scan today too - good luck to you as well

Nymphadora · 25/02/2010 12:05

Hermya Very South(will that do you?) are you from these parts?

Vikks · 25/02/2010 12:13

Morning All!
I?ve just got back from my first scan!! Very emotional and totally amazing. I?m walking on a cloud again. We had it at our fertility clinic and all the nurses who?d helped me through the treatments were thrilled for us, it was a wonderful experience. The little heart beat was so obvious and such a relief to see. As an added bonus I found out we get a second free early scan! So two weeks today (9+1) we are going again. I?ve got photos too!
Way too much excitement for one day, I think I need to lie down!
On the flip side MS is starting to kick in but nothing is spoiling my day?..

Jennimoo Good luck with yours!

jennimoo · 25/02/2010 12:46

Vikks - congratulations on the scan!

Has made me feel more postive, and I'm wondering if I can get a photo too... Mine is a private one, so I expect they'll be happy to take a few more pounds for a photo of my little blob!

Nymphadora · 25/02/2010 13:01

Vikks thats fab

jennimoo when are you going?

jennimoo · 25/02/2010 13:05

Scan is 5:50...

Hermya321 · 25/02/2010 13:53

Vikks Thats brilliant, congratulations!!!

Jenimoo How exciting!!

Nymph Yep on both counts.
