Due October 2010 - anyone else??

loueytbg · 21/01/2010 13:26

I got a very faint BFP last night and a really nice pink line this morning This will be my third baby, but 2nd pregnancy - I had twins first time round and I'm really hoping for just the one this time.

Due date is 2th October by ovulation date and 6th October by LMP - I'm going with the early date at the moment although I'm sure the NHS will change it to the later one.

I feel as sick as a dog and have nearly puked already which doesn't bode well for the next few weeks. God know how I'm going to keep it quiet.

Right I'm off to buy some more tests to pee on

Hi Rosie congratulations
Nymphdora I am impressed I dont know how to work out how many mg of caffine I am having! I have been double brewing tea bags so dp has the strong cup and I have the weaker cup, however I have probably had 6 of these lower strength teas.
Delilahbelle is mint tea the same as peppermint tea? I have really been trying to get to grips with herbal teas but there is so much contradictory advice on the internet. When I searched this site one or two posters on mumsnet said peppermint tea is dangerous but the babycentre herbs chart suggests the oil should be avoided but the dried herb is ok in moderation. I have basically come to the conclusion that white and green tea are ok after week 12, raspberry from about 32 weeks and other herb teas commonly sold in the supermarket are ok but in moderation, whatever that means, probably only one cup of each a day. I had figured barley cup would be ok and been drinking it instead of tea but roasted barley and chicory are not so good in pregnancy either . Sorry this is probably so boring for everyone but I am a real tea drinker and pretty confused!

NinthWave · 20/02/2010 21:28

Thanks delilahbelle

RE telling other DC...yesterday I asked DS if he would like a baby to come and live with us (he's 2.5) and he said "No, its too noisy, baby would be crying wahhh waaah waaahhhh"

Might leave it a bit longer...!

lilmissmummy · 20/02/2010 22:13

Hi everyone,

norfolkbumpkin we are due date twins
pookie I am a big tea drinker too so I am trying to stay off the caffine! They reckon you can drink up to 4 cups of tea a day, so I am trying to stay below that! I found the details on here
congratulations rosie fantastic news!!!

I am still waiting for MS, I know that once it turns up then I will be counting the days until it goes away but just some sign that I am pregnant would be great! OK so the boobs are getting bigger and are a bit sore but no more than when I am due on. I am a bit bloated (well quite a lot bloated) but it just makes me feel fat not pregnant. I cant wait to have a beautiful round bump and to wear maternity clothes. It is soooo exciting!

ninethwave I have broached the subject with my dc and they seem quite keen... they have been coming up with names so far they have come up with:- twinkle, pinky, cory, percy, lola and anakin. you can tell I have a 5 year old that watches cbeebies and an 8 year old that is into star wars!

I had a look at the other thread and they all seem very nice but I am happier here. Maybe we can just be 2 halves of the same team? Share important information and have our own little friendship groups.

mmmmm just makes me hungry personally

xx

Nymphadora · 21/02/2010 07:55

The caffine thing was on a nhs website it cane up straight away through google

delilahbelle · 21/02/2010 08:37

pookey - I have found a fair few websites saying peppermint tea is likely safe in pregnancy one here I hope so, it's really helping with the slight heartburn I am getting. Must admit I am having one cup of regular tea a day, can't give it up entirely... Guess there's always hot water with lemon juice...

I really want to tell people about this preg, but DH won't allow me until after our first scan... it's going to be so hard to wait!

ILoveGregoryHouse · 21/02/2010 10:23

Okay, doc just called to say my beta is 362.9 or 369.2 or something. Anyway, it's more than quadrupled in 60 hours so am very happy. Now just need to wait for early scan. Have added myself to the list now...

Oh I'm sorry Ilovegregoryhouse- not intentional- no idea how it happens!!

Sarahlou8 · 21/02/2010 11:24

Hi, please can I join your lovely group?

I had my BFP a week last Wednesday and have been reading you posts, but a bit nervous to join as I had a mc last November at 15 weeks.
I am now 5+1 and feeling (just a little) bit more confident, so here goes, my stats

Sarahlou8 - PG#3 DD1(11) DS2(9)age 37 EDD 23rd Oct.

Looking forward to catching up properly later, I'm in the middle of painting my hall at the moment.

(waves to Samb hope your hair looks fab x) x

delilahbelle · 21/02/2010 12:33

Grr. So annoyed. Drove all the way to my parents to meet my brother and his new girlfriend, only to discover they had gone out for the day. He hadn't even bothered to text me. Despite being the one to invite me over!

Mum suggested they might be back for a late lunch and I could wait - no way, I threw a mini strop and am now back at home on sofa with mumsnet. And cold pizza from last night's takeaway.

And breathe.

Elsa123 · 21/02/2010 14:15

Welcome Sarahlou- I'm meant to be sanding a bannister. How do you know if a particular paint is safe? I've read about low volatile compounds and making sure there's a high organic compound, but I cannot for the life of me work out from the paint tub if its safe?

ILoveGregoryHouse · 21/02/2010 14:25

Elsa123, I think if they're low volatility they say on the tub quite prominently (and then charge you a fortune for the privilege of not being gassed). Have fun sanding.

Hi sarahlou, hope we can both (all, actually) be here for the long haul.

Nymphadora · 21/02/2010 15:11

A bit emotional today. Keep crying. Dh is now putting up coat hooks cos I cried about them.

I also cried cos he smelt funny

kawaiiko · 21/02/2010 15:25

Hi Nymph, hi BUTB! How exciting to be joining you both!

Hi ILGH and delilahbelle, popping over to the November bus sounds like a good idea, I think I'm likely to go overdue as that's quite common with first time babies (?) Also if it's anything like the ttc thread, this thread will have emptied out by the time I get there and I want lots of friendly faces to cheer me on!

pookey have you tried/heard anything about Redbush? That's my drink of choice and it's caffeine-free so I'm assuming it's ok...?

Wow, today things are starting to sink in. To state the obvious - I know that conception and pregnancy happens to millions and millions of people before but it's never happened to me! I'm so excited, but also worried about all the things that could happen and the ENORMOUS responsibility of making a whole NEW PERSON!!

Right, delirious rant over.

What's everyone eating? I'm looking for ideas!

kawaiiko · 21/02/2010 15:27

tiredfeet · 21/02/2010 16:03

hi new people, and congratulations!

I managed to survive the weekend with friends as morning sickness eased off. I'm hoping its just because I have learned how to manage it (e.g. what I choose to eat, and staying very still for a long time after eating) rather than a sign something is wrong? has anyone else had it reduce like this (only 6+6 now I think)?

My friends have just left, I suspect they have guessed as I wasn't drinking and was a bit tired etc on our walk, but they were nice enough not to ask me outright. I thought about telling them when I realised they had probably guessed, but on balance I figure that even if they go and blab to people that they 'think' I'm pregnant, they will just look silly if things go wrong (and I would prefer this than having to go over my grief with everyone in our group of friends!). My sister-in-law thinks I'm being overly negative thinking about what might go wrong, but after taking 16 months to get this far, I just can't take it for granted!

on the caffeine front, I don't really drink it as I'm too sensitive to it (I get the shakes really quickly!) but in the pack I got from the GP there was a sachet of redbush so I'm assuming thats ok for people to drink...

Elsa123 · 21/02/2010 16:07

Gt over sensitive sense of smell as new symptom. Things I could barely smell previously are now all pervading. Its a little annoying!

Kawaiiko- I'm eating what I ate normally. I do need some more food between meals though, otherwise I'm finding I'm getting very quick blood sugar crashes and going dizzy. Today I've had tea and toast, then mid morning a bowl of yeovalley fat free natural yoghurt with a knob of stem ginger snipped into it and a square of menier chocolate grated over the top. I then had a cooked breakfast for lunch- suasages, bacon, tomatoes and beans and am having chilli con carne with brown rice for dinner and possibly some rice pudding for pudding. In between all that, I'm mainlining fluids!

I haven't gained weight, but I do bloat easily and burp like an olympic beer drinker, so I'm trying to up the roughage!

SamanthaB123 · 21/02/2010 16:16

How have any of you the energy to paint things??? It's as much as I can muster to get off the sofa to go to the loo. Morning sickness is better in the mornings that at any other time here. Feeling really ropey from mid-afternoon into the evening. Oooof.

ConstantlyWritingThankYouCards · 21/02/2010 17:10

Welcome new people!

All the twinges and cramps I've been having did have a reason after all - ended up going to the Urgent Care Centre on Sat morn and seeing a Doc who says I have a kidney infection and gave me antibiotics. Thank goodness as I began to think I was being pathetic about the stretching pains. Feeling so much better already.

Hope you're all having relaxing Sundays!

x

jennimoo · 21/02/2010 17:29

Tiredfeet - I got ms worse and worse til last monday, (6+4) then became eratic. If I'm busy and/or nibble all morning it doesn't seem so bad. Does worry me though. I have a scan on Thursday at 8 weeks so fingers crossed all is well.

Food-wise I'm on toast a lot, but I do have the brown with loads of seeds in it. I'm putting marmite, Philadelphia, dairylea and peanut butter on it, although not all at once just yet!
I'm on a couple of cups of normal tea then decaf tea, peppermint or fruit tea, if I fancy any of them. I usually drink tea all the time but going off it a bit!

We are hopefully moving in a few weeks, so need to find out about paints really, as that's usually my job!

QuestionsAnswered · 21/02/2010 18:29

Wow, been busy since yesterday on here, hello to all our new additions to the thread, nice to see some more people from the Oct bus too

Elsa, your colleagues sound like they are a nightmare to be around Don't know why people have such a problem whether people drink or not.

Constantly, glad you got it checked out, it's so hard to work out what is normal and not.

Nymph and lilmiss, your DC are at an age they can really look forward to a baby arriving. Pookey they are a bit more fickle during the toddler years aren't they!

Impressed at those of you busy decorating, I have felt the need to make lists over the weekend of all the things that need doing in the house, trying to get prepared.

pookey · 21/02/2010 18:55

lol re lilmissmummy!
Welcome sarahlou
Kawaiiko Redbush is supposed to be ok I think but I really really dont like it, not sure why I dont as it is popular
Tiredfeet I think nausea can come and go in waves? Glad your weekend went ok.
Wow elsa you have had a delicious day of food quite envious had weird craving for chonese takeaway at lunchtime.
constantly glad its all been sorted for you.

Quite reassuring that people are still having various teas I am just neurotic. will join you all in having a couple of brews and enjoy them

We took ds and dd to see a little play this afternoon. DS was scared though because there was a friendly bear in it. He has this real fear of bears. I suggested he draw a picture of the bear or old mother hubbard for show and tell and quite disturbingly he said I know I will draw a bear with a head in his mouth dont have a clue where he got that image from but its no wonder he is freaked out by bears. DP got annoyed with me because I was quiet all afternoon, he thought I was in a grump but I think being pg makes me a bit withdrawn ... she says blabbing away on mumsnet!

QuestionsAnswered · 21/02/2010 19:04

Pookey, I have been a little quieter (verging on grumpy at times!) over the last few days too. Glad you said that too, I will now officially class it as a pregnancy symptom

AbFabT · 21/02/2010 19:06

pookey, I'm not drinking tea. I only ever drank herbal, but I just don't think there's enough information available yet, and I'd rather not take the risk. Rooibos/Redbush does seem to be safe, I am going to do more research on that, but I'm not having any other tea.

As for alcohol, I am sorry some people are experiencing difficulties with others - Elsa, I am sorry your colleagues are such idiots!
I never drank anyway, so people who know me aren't going to be able to tell that way, but we were at a wedding yesterday, was sat with some people we didn't know, and no one batted an eyelid that I was on orange juice all night. I guess we were lucky.
