Come in, come in to the new haven for diffed BESHies. I think a group effort is needed here (and I'm being a lazy preggo), so please add to the deli whatever you crave/love/can stomach.

Nominations are also open for sexy fathers we can hijack to serve our mouldy cheese and cured ham

And the best mocktail recipe wins...well, bugger all to be honest

Which reminds me, it's choc o'clock.

givecarrotsachance · 18/01/2010 15:30

And I just ate two bloody clementines coz that's all I've got.

skihorse · 18/01/2010 15:33

rofl@ "I'm no BonsoirAnna". I like BA very much, but her body facism is one of the topics I very much disagree with her!

Ponymum · 18/01/2010 15:47

That article just made me want to eat some chocolate. Happy now?

givecarrotsachance · 18/01/2010 15:48

My funny clementine
Sweet, comic clementine
You make me smile with my heart
Your looks are laughable, unphotographable
yet you're my favourite orange snack

blah blah

There's a customer who comes in with a little girl called Lola (her name is Lola...) so pick your annoying in-your-head song for the afternoon.

CurlyCasper · 18/01/2010 15:54

not caught up, but I fear I may be the subject of ski's brainteaser. Yet I have failed to find evidence of said outing to see if it did indeed coicide with significant events...

pony and casper just thought I'd share the cravings

Just had 2 ryvitas smothered in low fat cream cheese. I'm fully aware that this is not "actually" a healthy option but it's all I have here other than 1/2 tin baked beans and I'm considering dipping into that. Still, baby needs calcium...

Got definate little tickles from babe yesterday, and the day before a teeny tiny prod - I prodded back and it did it again!

I decided that the 10 week stuff was def not baby as it was too strong, and when seeing it move on the scan I felt nothing. This time it's just like with LC so I really do know it's started. I LOVE this bit!

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 18/01/2010 17:18

Hi ladies - am coming out of hiding as two people have warned me that when I see my GP this week I will already need to have decided which hospital to, you know, at.

So my question is - how do I know which one?! There are four nearby - and I've just done a little search and found that they all are considered "least well performing" by the CQC. This feels all too premature (given recent behaviour) but apparently they'll ask, and will write down what I say.

Argh!

CurlyCasper · 18/01/2010 17:18

Scratch what I said. I'm defo not the subject of ski's brainteaser. (phew) I finally checked dates and found that I went out with another man a whole two months before baby was concieved (rubbish memory!). So, who was it then?

CurlyCasper · 18/01/2010 17:22

welcome back vag!

First of all, you don't have to do "it" at a hospital. But you will have to book in with some midwives. Now, here we go to the only local ones and from there decide if it will be home, midwife-led or consultant-led (in hospital). Or in my case you get told what you are having because you are a medical nightmare. But I guess there is more choice in El Capitol.

Hopefully the Lahndahn differs will be along soon to help you out. Or maybe just cunty seeing as iggy will be bunking up with Danni minogue...

iggypiggy · 18/01/2010 17:23

VAG St Georges is good... Does you really get to pick tho?? My Drs just sends everyone to Kings (also good) - and I know all about Patient Choice...

VoilaAnotherGimlet · 18/01/2010 17:33

iggy - might my GP not give me a choice then? St Georges sometimes sounds great, sometimes awful. I guess this is true of all of them. Wish I hadn't heard so many scare stories about them all now..... Maybe I shall start stockpiling bleach and toilet wipes already.

Cosmosis · 18/01/2010 17:42

I was asked to pick - but was told I could change my mind at any point so it didn't really matter.

and now I must fess up. Twas I that ski is spreading the rumours about. But as I have said to her, it doesn't matter as they are both ginger. so ner.

CUNextTuesday · 18/01/2010 17:43

Vag You can change your mind anytime, patient choice and all that, but you will be referred to the community midwives who generally do stints at the local hospital too. For me it was a no-brainer cos I live 5 mins from Kingston. Heard some reports about St George's but really I think it's pot luck on the day, and whatever facilities you want for your birth - one thing I would say about StGeorge's is their EPU is ace and the midwives there are lovely.

My Doula has done several hospitals in the locale and doesn't necessarily 'recommend' one over another although she has said Kingston MW-led unit is lovely (perhaps to appease me!) and it has what I want i.e. water bath, etc.

Perhaps before you make a decision on the hospital (tell doc you are researching if she asks) do a bit of thinking about how you'd like it to go in an ideal world with a rudimentary birth plan. For exampe I have a very clear idea and Hom and I have discussed it at length - he has fears ref home birth, but I don't want any medical intervention if possible, so MW-led unit it is. You may think 'I want all the medical bells and whistles and drugs I can get hold of.' In which case it may not matter where you choose, as they all do that.

If you are not ready to decide, then say so. Don't be forced into a decision so early on, unless you are clear on what you want.

givecarrotsachance · 18/01/2010 18:24

cas so who was it then??

vag as cas said you don't HAVE to "do it" in hospital. Would you consider a midwife unit or homebirth?

I can't believe, as cunty says, that you would be "forced" into a choice at this stage. Most (all?) units allow you to visit them but really you can do that anytime in the next 4-5 months. Anyway, if they try to shoe-horn you into one you don't want, just turn up at the one you DO want - they won't send you away if you're in full and sustained labour. Not, of course, that labour will happen. So don't be thinking of that.

givecarrotsachance · 18/01/2010 18:25

Obv I meant COS not CAS to fess up. Sorry.

skihorse · 19/01/2010 09:02

I am so happy, bouncy, joyful that everyone is sounding so happy these days! Does this mean we are bl00ming? I dare not say the word out loud in case we're doomed...

Has anyone else other than carrots felt the alien within move?

CurlyCasper · 19/01/2010 09:34

Blooming? BLOOMING? My fat arse I am. Seriously pissed off with round ligament pain, worsened by constipation/wind. I spend way too much time stretched out across the toilet/floor/sofa My god the midwife is going to get it in the ear when I finally get booking in this weekend.

Oh and it looks like my job will get bigger/better/more interesting just as I fuck off to have the baby... (are there rules about less swearing on differ threads?)

Other than that, bouncy, bouncy, happy, joy, joy!

Ponymum · 19/01/2010 10:02

Vag I changed hospitals at about 30 weeks last time. Not the most convenient thing to do (completely different paperwork, yada yada) but I am so glad I went with my instincts. The first place just gave me a yucky feeling every time I visited, and when I did a tour of the second place I felt so much more reassured and safe. Around here the midwife not GP does the hospital booking (I say midwife singular because we seriously have one midwife covering about 200 square miles out here) but it might be different in Londinium.

I had some baby feelings about a week ago, but not sure since. No worries about baby though - in the last week I have gone from looking normal to suddenly looking 8 months pregnant. Why?

Oh, and last night I ate stilton, foie gras (just a tiny bite off MrP's plate), pink duck breast, and a glass of wine! Had runny bum at 2am but otherwise fine.

skihorse · 19/01/2010 10:13

Nom nom. Less so the runny bum.

My tummy has also rapidly expanded, thank christ I've got tits.

skihorse · 19/01/2010 12:52

We've had a vote, Cossie and I and we've decided what the PESHies need is a minibreak/roadtrip. We've decided we're going to the alps for a bit of sport, gluhwein, fresh air and flirting with sporty "mountain boys". All in favour say "aye" and pack your weekend bag.

iggypiggy · 19/01/2010 13:35

Liking idea of road trip - so long as i get virtual energy to help me do it

I have randomly started gagging at smells/ tastes... which is odd.. I have just gagged attempting to eat a ceral bar... And yesterday morning I nearly threw up after spraying deodorant... what's that about?! Why start now?

Bessie123 · 19/01/2010 13:38

oooh, I have a top tip for you, Iggy. Stay away from Marks & Spencer, from about 7 or 8 weeks, the smell of their bakery used to make me want to throw up every time I went in there.

CurlyCasper · 19/01/2010 13:45

I think the thing about sickness being in the first tri is all a lie, iggs. My new "symptom" is a little bit of sick in my throat after everything I eat or drink. Nice.

Sorry you are retching. Hope it doesn't stop you actually eating

Ref road trip: I'll need some virtual energy, virtual cash, and virtual enthusiasm for mountain sports please - then I'm in.
