Come in, come in to the new haven for diffed BESHies. I think a group effort is needed here (and I'm being a lazy preggo), so please add to the deli whatever you crave/love/can stomach.

Nominations are also open for sexy fathers we can hijack to serve our mouldy cheese and cured ham

And the best mocktail recipe wins...well, bugger all to be honest

iggy cripes don't be defensive - I agree totally, and anyway you're gonna be pretty uncomfortable in another couple of months so having something you love to wear is essential. I was by the price but not at all meaning that you shouldn't have done it - simply meant that they're a lot of money for jeans! Sorry if it was taken another way.

Also LOL @ pregnant jeans fans.

I've bought a pair of cord trousers from blooming marvellous (in their sale, £10 from £32 - www.bloomingmarvellous.co.uk/product.aspx?CategoryID=s-maternity&ProductID=13187&language=en-GB) which are the most comfy things ever. They're also selling bump bands for a coupla quid.

I've just gone on to get the link and seen a few other things in the sale... and then I bought the road-in-the-bath toy for LC coz I couldn't resist! Must Not Shop anymore... I am turning away from my eco principles. Blimey.

skihorse · 04/02/2010 16:58

I have spent that much on jeans before and it was worth every single eurocent, they really do seem to be cut differently and made my podgy little legs look long even though at the time I was a good 3 stone heavier than I am now!

I also has a babyname book but we are now decided on both, so it's redundant.

I haz had afternoon nap. Nom nom.

RunLyraRun · 04/02/2010 17:23

Shit I really shouldn't lurk round here, I very nearly bought three bumpbands from blooming marvellous . It was only the delivery charge being as much as the cost of the items that stopped me .

givecarrotsachance · 04/02/2010 21:02

lyra the shipping cost is incredible but it's still worth it for the discount...

RunLyraRun · 04/02/2010 21:38

Not if you're updiffed it isn't carrots!

I was just coming over to say "my god you lot go to bed early these days!" but here you are

givecarrotsachance · 04/02/2010 22:36

Aww lyra I'm sorry if that was insensitive... I didn't remember...

ski come on then, share (pweeeeze)

skihorse · 05/02/2010 07:28

Horatio Albertino and Dusty Orange Spicerack.

CurlyCasper · 05/02/2010 08:52

I think baby name books are crap. They lead to us saying "no" "no" "no" "no" "no" "no" "no" "no" "no" "no" "no" "no" "no" "no" "no"

The internet is no better. God help my poor child...

OP posts:
skihorse · 05/02/2010 09:16

The babyname books are very limited and yet who wants to go through a book with 10,000 names in? There's a Hebrew name I love and yet I don't find it on online Hebrew names lists... arsebiscuits.

I haz had thought. We haz only one set of twins so far (cheggers"' frozen baybees) - so I'm thinking Cossie or VAG or Skater* must be due a set.

The names we've chosen are very scottish yet at the same time the pronounciation/spelling will work here in NL so the poor blighter won't have to go through the whole "is it a boy or a girl or a brand of tennis racket?" thing.

SkaterGrrrrl · 05/02/2010 10:43

Hey dudes,

What plans for the weekend? I'm spending Saturday round my sisters house while our DPs watch rugby.

That division of housework thread in discussions of the day has made me grateful for Betty Friedan and my lovely MIL who passed on a housetrained DH to me!

Have started getting letters and calls from midwives making appointments - have dates for my "booking in " appointment and my 12 week scan on the NHS.

However as these are both in working hours that means I will have to tell work really soon. eep! Just been promoted and literally fell pregnant a fortnight later, they will probably think I knew and took the job knowing I'll be off soon.... Will check out the Work threads for some tips.

Also, do I confess to my NHS healthcare providers that I also booked a private early scan? Will they care? Will they hate me?

skihorse · 05/02/2010 12:26

I am having an absolute cunt of a day - and what are you lot doing? That's right, working you are.

Skater I'm riding my horsicle tomorrow morning and for the rest of the weekend I will be lying on the sofa.

Jailbait does all the housework at our place.

I feel verrrry nauseous today - not sure whether it's just me being fed up with work today or genuinely sick.

SkaterGrrrrl · 05/02/2010 14:30

Sorry about your crappy day.

givecarrotsachance · 05/02/2010 15:41

Oh ski I'm really sorry you're feeling rubbish

Ponymum · 05/02/2010 17:16

skater Depends on your work's policies and how bad it would be for your boss to know. Do you get time off for any other medical appts? You just tell your boss you have a (non-specific) medical appt and ask if they want you to make up the time. Even if you do feel you have to tell him/her you're pg you can ask that they keep it confidential from other staff, which they have to do if you ask.

ski Here's wishing you a lovely horsie ride tomorrow. The closest I get these days is pushing the rocking horse.

Cosmosis · 06/02/2010 09:50

skates I agree with pones can't you just say you have a doc / hosp appointment and not say what it's for? That's what I have been doing. They have to allow time off for doc / dentist don't they?

ski I hope you have a lovely horsey ride.

I am currently doing my extreme impersonation and am in my toast crumb covered dressing gown. TGO has gone out on his bike with a friend.

skihorse · 06/02/2010 18:46

hello everyone, how are you all doing?

Well I was overcome with tiredness today despite a good night's sleep* last night and so decided not to ride, instead just take her out for a "walk" to munch some grass and take in some scenery. As I got to the yard two people were there saying she was "dangerous" and then "are you going to ride today?". Um, whatever. Obviously she's not dangerous - put it this way, jailbait has ridden her and if I'd had any energy today I'd have been happy to. The stoooopid mare had also pooed in her water dispenser so I had to put on my freshly washed gloves and sort that out. Arrrrgh. Oh and the fecking "sharer" hasn't ridden in nearly a month because she thinks she's too dangerous AND she left my bloody headcollar & rope out of the locker. Wtf? Since when you do need to BEG someone to ride your horse? I should say - just a few months ago these same women were telling me how easy I had it with my lovely, safe horse... can't have it both ways ladies. (full o' shite & can't ride)

Good luck for your scan on Monday Cossie.

*Will I ever sleep through the night again without having to get up for a pee?

Ponymum · 06/02/2010 21:02

ski That is just wrong. How many people are begging to ride someone's horse? Has your sharer now given up entirely? It sounds like a few people at that yard are convincing themselves and as many other people as they can that your horse is a danger. That would make me so mad.

I was going to suggest notices at local tack shops but then you've got the problem that the poisonous bitches at the yard would frighten your new person too. You are going to need to find someone quite confident, in both riding and personality, and to make sure they know they will have to stand up to a few ignorant gossipers and just get on and ride. I hate to think of your mare going to waste. What a nightmare.

skihorse · 07/02/2010 05:49

Pony Well I've contacted a girl who was advertising online yesterday, she's a student nurse so I'm trying to ascertain whether she's local or will be disappearing in the summer. She seems to have a wealth of experience - has competed at the top level of endurance (so hacking shouldn't be an issue! ) and has been trained to top tier (bar Grand Prix) of dressage. I am waiting to hear back. You're right of course, the gossip is coming from the ignorant and least experienced...

When I was 12 I used to go around to all the local tack shops pinning up notices begging for rides in exchange for work... times have changed it seems!

The sharer tells me she hasn't given up - it's just that it's "too cold" right now and so she's "dangerous". It was 9 degrees yesterday...

cheggers · 07/02/2010 10:41

skates agree with everyone else. tell 'em nothin!!

i couldn't bear having to tell my boss before my mates. i even managed a stint in hossy without work knowing

cas that is a bastard and a half getting stretch marks so early in the game

my bump has been quite neat and well behaved so far. don't think i'll get away without them with twins though

my (quite hippy) ante-natal classes suggests eating bio cottage cheese, sunflower kernals and pomegrantes to avoid them. i'll try anything

despite neat bump though, my right leg is ravaged by a quite hideous varicose vein, despite pulling on support tights every morning. i have the leg of an old man

am not one to wear my pregnancy scars as a badge of honour either. there a bastard pain in the arse!!

anyway.

re: books, can't really recommend any of the ones i bought as i went amazon crazy with twin stuff, but one for the fellers. my sis sent boy this one : Dad Rules

he has chuckled all the way through it and says it's useful in the fact it's the only baby book he has bothered to read from cover to cover.

good to see you lurking over here lyra i don't really post in the palace much these days. feel a bit meh while you lot are still tearing your hair out trying to win baybees.

do you gin lurks??

i could do with her giving me a musical kick up the arse. i've started listening to my mcFly cds again

cheggers · 07/02/2010 10:46

oh and ski i have not slept through a single night since the start.

i get up at least twice every night for a wee and can't see that changing now.

i have a little path cleared now so i can do with my eyes practically closed and still asleep.

if i go off-piste in the slightest though to have a drink or shut a door or fall over a misplaced hairdryer Wham! am awake for 2 hours.

think you're just gonna have to live with it chick

Ponymum · 07/02/2010 12:46

cheggs Be careful about that varicose vein appearing. Last pg the consultant was terrified I was going to have an embolism (leading cause of death in pregnancy) and I was on daily blood thinning injections and had to wear medical anti-embolism stockings for the last 10 weeks.

Yes, twice a night peeing for me too. I think it is nature's way of teaching us to expect a different "sleep pattern" once the baby arrives. You gradually change your definition of what a good night's sleep is.

ski Yes I am wondering whether times have changed too. A friend who is due the same time as me is groom to a private family, and she has stopped riding out (but still does everything else). Her boss is not happy and is paying a couple of people to exercise the hunters! These horses are stunning, and beautifully schooled thanks to my friend. I am weeping that I am pg at the same time as I would give my eye teeth to take the ride! Can't believe they are paying people.

Cosmosis · 07/02/2010 15:19

ski I'm ignoring your twin mutterings, the MW assured us it's not twins as she would have heard the hb at the last appointment if it was.

so ner.

I've just still got vegetable based worries....

CUNextTuesday · 07/02/2010 15:30
Grin
Cosmosis · 07/02/2010 15:57

It's alright for you, at least you know yours isn't an artichoke!

Still as I said to TGO, if it's a carrot, at least we'll know it's his

skihorse · 07/02/2010 16:00

Cossie Why would you have heard the heartbeat if there were two? That makes absolutely no logical sense whatsover. Stop denying my teasing! Anyway, I am still giggling at your BESH proclaimation of your "extra pounds" ya big heiffer!

Are you really still dreaming of veg?
