Come in, come in to the new haven for diffed BESHies. I think a group effort is needed here (and I'm being a lazy preggo), so please add to the deli whatever you crave/love/can stomach.

Nominations are also open for sexy fathers we can hijack to serve our mouldy cheese and cured ham

And the best mocktail recipe wins...well, bugger all to be honest

Curly I'm not taking the drugs every day, I have so far only taken them if the sickness has kicked in violently before 2pm. If you don't get anywhere with your ischium, try using bumsex.

Our little person will have a Shetland, it's really the only way to give a child a crash course in ponies AND give them a healthy respect for our 4-legged friends.

iggypiggy · 26/01/2010 13:00

shetlands are the work of satan...

speaking as a pony club instructor who teaches 5 yrs almost all mounted on shetlands... the little buggers nip, tread on you, buck, have ingenious way of avoiding doing what you want them too... just love them.. anyway - i haz the pony already picked out I will be putting my name down for it asap.

Arsebollocks about the sick ski

Ponymum · 26/01/2010 13:00

rots Same story as you on the stretch marks last time. For me, I was about 8 mths gone when I said to MrP "look, I think I can see a couple of tiny stretch marks coming up from my tummy button, so I guess I have got some after all." He kindly replied "Oh, you mean as well as all the ones underneath." ????!! So I got a mirror and had a look - sure enough there was the Nile delta etched out in purple on my lower belly AND I HAD NO IDEA!

iggs Not too wide - yes, we def like the same thing!

givecarrotsachance · 26/01/2010 13:12

ski X post, missed your vommy one. Maybe it's my fault from my email? . Sorry.

Yes, she is called Shergar actually - how did you know

Shetlands. Clearly the devil's own pony BUT they do teach a certain amount of horse-sense. Usually the main lesson being, don't buy a shetland. Def with you there, iggs. They're good for learning to drive, though. Mum considered buying one for LC to learn to drive with.

CurlyCasper · 26/01/2010 13:36

I should say that I'm not actually planning on buying a Shetland. I just have wonderful memories of one from my youth. My aunt has her own stables and multiple ponies/hosses and we would ride there as children. The little fucker Shetland was the pony I was given when a larger group of us would go out (otherwise a lovely, larger, skinnier dapple gray pony - I have no knowledge of proper names), and I got to know his satanic tendencies. Character building to say the least. Many memorable incidents there. It's a wonder I never became a Ponygirl, but just as well given the state of my body. Also a good job I gave up ballet at a young age

"skater Say what? She stuck her what where? Now I've heard everything. Glad I had my dates written down."

I wrote down my dates too but wasnt sure as I had a normal period in December and a very light period in december. So she put a finger in my fanjo and kind of massaged my belly with her other hand. I guess she was feeling for the position of the cervix with one hand and for how much my uterus had expanded with the other.

Bessie our dates are really close. I blame the Xmas bubbly!

Iggy I also have the huge boobs from rapid growth as a teen. (Thanks Mum for noticing I neeeded a supportive bra - not!)

Ha ha h at ski getting updiffed during a yoga class.

SkaterGrrrrl · 26/01/2010 13:43

needed, rather.

CurlyCasper · 26/01/2010 13:46

Skater have you said hello over here yet? They'd love to hear from you

Hope you've got over the finger in the fanjo trauma.

iggs We already have our name down for a Shetland! His name is Farmer and he is a darling. Not the Thelwell type.

So lots of you got diffed on the Christmas champagne? We managed it on holiday in France. So what did MrP do? He sent a Christmas card to the friends who had lent us their chalet, announcing the updiffment and the due date, adding "do the maths!"
I was so embarassed when he told me! Imagine someone sending you a card to tell you that they made a baby in your bed!

givecarrotsachance · 26/01/2010 14:41

Ooooooh @ MrP!!!

I dunno where we were. I mean, it was somewhere in the house but not sure which room . Not as exciting as I would have liked, but YOB is less "adventurous" than I am (although we did it in a rainstorm in the gardens of Sion House in London once, sheltering under some trees).

SkaterGrrrrl · 26/01/2010 16:00

We were on safari, very romantic...

givecarrotsachance · 26/01/2010 16:14

ohhhh! How lovely. Where?

I've just been reading the local council's parenting handbook which has a Whole Page on Why Not To Smack Your Child.

Thoughts/opinions?

iggypiggy · 26/01/2010 16:18

rots I was never smacked as a child... but i was very good

I can't see the need for it myself... but there we are..

Bessie123 · 26/01/2010 16:21

I think it's brutal and poor parenting to smack your child, I find it VERY uncomfortable to see people doing it. But I imagine some on this thread will think otherwise.

iggypiggy · 26/01/2010 16:25

Well i wouldn't smack a dog either as am all for the positive reward method... And the behaviourist I worked with said you can apply this to children to some extent - ignore the bad and then reward the good.

However I am prepared to admit that as I am not yet a parent - reality may be that the above method would not be ideal in all situations..

Still would not smack tho.

Ponymum · 26/01/2010 16:26

rots You do like to ask controversial questions don't you?

Me: totally 100% opposed. Hand on heart I will never strike a child, and MrP feels exactly the same. Makes me cry to think about it.

givecarrotsachance · 26/01/2010 16:53

pony - tee hee

I'm wondering who will be the first to fess up and say, "I did" or "I would".

givecarrotsachance · 26/01/2010 16:58

I was smacked. I remember it being unreasonable only once - I was smacked for breaking a chair, which I hadn't. It honestly Just Broke. Not bad really as I did get smacked quite a lot - I must have been really naughty .

skihorse · 26/01/2010 17:04

Bessie Wtf? Are you making a personal dig at someone here?

givecarrotsachance · 26/01/2010 17:05

Sorry, I forgot to say, BIG thanks to casper for the Angel tip. I got the heartbeat last night for the first time! (first time myself that is). Right in my laydee garden.

Thank you! It was great!!!

iggs maybe get one, but only use it after a scan or MW visit so you know it's ok if you can't find it?

cheggers · 26/01/2010 22:38

yo all. sorry to hear there's so many aches and pains around the deli. round of pain relieving virtual bellinis anyone?

ponymar you complete star. thanks muchly for your very detailed review. i don't think i will send you on any more missions though for fear of your ailing hips!

oh and prams - we went for the not so well known foreign one in the end (Twinner Twist duo). pretty similar to the urban buggy but, fits 2 carseats, fits in the back of our little polo, looks funky and cost about 200 quid less. winner.

ski so just how low is your low blood pressure then? mines been getting lower the whole time and has just hit 86/52 the doc doesn't seem that arsed, but i went for a diabetes test yesterday and had to fast overnight and very embaressingly fainted in the docs office

and while we're on docs offices skater you're not the only one who has been man handled. my doc has a good old rummage every time i go to check my cervix position. is that not normal? sounds like i got a pervy gynae too

anyway just back from my first ante-natal class. quite good fun and we all got massages of our menfolk. was a bit put out by the girl who's as pregnant as me with a considerably smaller bump though

skihorse · 27/01/2010 07:38

cheggers well done on the cheaper bugger which fits in the bloody car! Excellent work!

My blood pressure was 130/65 on monday - I was really worried about the 130 because that's shockingly high for me but she said it was only the lower number that mattered. But she said it will drop during the pregnancy which is not good for me and I fear like you I'll be hitting the ground if I were to fast. I've had problems in the past and when my body goes in to shock it just kind of shuts down... lowest it's been was 40/10 - I thought I was a gonner that time.

It's very frustrating because I kind of feel ready to go back to the gym and last night I dreamt about a body pump class - but I'll have to sew pockets on to my t-shirt to hold bananas so I can feast throughout. I may write a stinking fucking letter though to the fertility department at the hospital who told me my weight would mean that my baybeeee would be born a monkey because of my 'elf ishoos.

skihorse · 27/01/2010 07:39

cheggers @ the smaller bump girl. I am really peed off, my bump is most definitely filling clothes and the scales are being rude to me - but I'm not 100% sure where the weight is going because I've only got one pair of jeans I can't fit in to...

skihorse · 27/01/2010 07:40

... which I realise makes no sense.

CurlyCasper · 27/01/2010 08:56

Morning. Thanks for your advice yesterday PESHlets. I have just spoken to the MW, who said I should not be in so much pain so early on, immediately suggested it could be SPD and is referring me to a physio asap. I am still trying to contact rheumatology too, and she is happy that we look at it from both sides to make sure there is as little damage as possible being done to my body. Lovely lady - not met her yet but she is my community MW, so I'm feeling quite confident about her now.

rots Glad you found the HB.

Cheggs at fainting! Hope it wasn't too painful (to body or ego). Surely the girl with the smaller bump only has one baybeee, no?

ski I would say having clothes you fit into is a bonus. I'm rapidly replacing mine and it's money I;d rather save. I'm praying the winter isn't as long as they are predicting cos I don't fancy buying a maternity winter coat for the sake of a couple of months!
