meant to say our spring one has a waterproof section on the top. so projectile vomit was always caught instead of ruining matress. One thing i did get to stop poss cot death were anti roll things from vertbaudet which were fab and i will use again cos then stops possible smothering etc. also obviously u have all the feet to foot rules to stop smothering and the way to put ur covers.

"Just back from midwife appointment. 16 weeks, 4 days. Baby trying to squirm away from doppler, but she was able to track him/her. Measuring fine, all bloods normal, all urine normal. I declined the AFP test"

Same here (except am 16 +2).

I have been feeling baby move- like a swirling sensation in bottom of tummy. With my 1st the first movements I recognised were small popping sensations. It wasn't wind! LOL.

Re: Mattresses - i think they have now proved there is no link between the mattress and cot death - if that helps.

sweetheart · 07/07/2005 15:48

Thanks for all your comments - I've ordered one now.

I know, I know - I'm a total shopaholic. I thought spending £75 on a dress the other day was bad (even though I sent the dress back)

I've just spent £1,000.47!!!

In my defence I did get:-

Pram
Car seat
Cotbed
Wardrobe
Dresser
Mattress
Bedding
Curtains etc etc etc

ninah · 07/07/2005 15:51

I couldn't help it!!!!!

It's made me feel better about the whole London thing - I've been feeling really down today about it.

ninah · 07/07/2005 15:54

yeah its been such a sh+t day
on the plus side I just managed to find overnight accomodation for two overseas visitors and to get the Uni to pay for it - result!

SH - You done well for your £1000.47P!! Where are you shopping?

dramaqueen72 · 07/07/2005 16:01

blimey s/h.dh would never give me the go ahead for a\ll that at once. he likes to be involved in the decisions (roll eyes) which means I have to wait to drag him around and convince him. on the plus side he pays
I say what goes in the nnursery decorating dept tho, we are going with 'under the sea' I think this time round. then making it more mermaids etc for a girl or more boats/pirates for a boy. i have many bits of paper with the sketchs for mural on whats everyone else having in the nursery? its my fave bit!

sweetheart · 07/07/2005 16:12

dh knows it's best to let me get on with it!!!

Otherwise I just drag him round and round the shops until he's so fed up he gives in to what I like

I got the furniture and stuff from Kiddicare and the bedding and curtains are from Next. The nursery is quite a small north facing room so very little natural light. Because of this I'm going with natural colours - browns and beige's - with a teddy bear motif!!!!

how exciting

sweetheart · 07/07/2005 16:13

Oh - and I got a 0% credit card to do all the baby shopping on

dramaqueen72 · 07/07/2005 16:14

okay super shopping queen, link me to kiddicare funriture then purlease...........

dramaqueen72 · 07/07/2005 16:15

FURNITURE even. duh

sweetheart · 07/07/2005 16:19

my pleasure

Just don't blame me if you end up spending a small fortune

I've gone with the Saplings French range!!!

kangel · 07/07/2005 16:42

That site is fantastic!!!!! Have already got my other half surfing on it!!!!

sweetheart · 07/07/2005 16:44

lol!!!

I've found it to be the cheapest. Managed to get over £65 pounds off teh buggy I wanted.

kangel · 07/07/2005 16:56

I've been looking at nursery collections but they are so expensive except for in Argos but I don't like them.

Very nice collections - other half has phoned and loves them too so looking good. I am also doing the nursery in magnolia and beige, winnie the pooh / teddys.

Nemo1977 · 07/07/2005 17:04

im cos we are not redecorating the nursery as it was only done for ds and it is neutral but we are doing ds room but just not the same. I think the fact we dont have to buy apart from parm for this baby is making it even more surreal.

yellowbear · 07/07/2005 17:34

Congrats on the good news Sweetheart!

starrynight · 07/07/2005 20:44

I'm not with you guys! I am so pleased I won't be buying loads of stuff. The pram is here already and in the loft ready for Dec & thats it! woohoo.

We have decorated nurseries in the past for no reason at all as all ours have slept in bed with us for at least the first couple of years - by which time they move into normal beds & rooms. I expect this will be the same so not making that mistake again!

I am hoping to buy clothes etc at the nearly new sale - someone in my class bought a grobag for only £2 at the last one.

Kiddicare does seem to be the cheapest site for baby stuff - apparently their shop in ?Peterborough is absolutely massive.

Happy shopping you guys!

starrynight · 07/07/2005 20:45

p.s. I wouldn't touch Argos with a barge pole! How about Ikea?

dramaqueen72 · 07/07/2005 22:51

starry, we have co-slept with dd2 til 19mths or there abouts. this time i think i may get a bedside cot, so i can kinda do both.......sometimes i really want my own space!

Nemo1977 · 07/07/2005 22:53

DQ do u have bellas email?

dramaqueen72 · 07/07/2005 22:59

I just mailed her............I think she works in london doesnt she? could be totally wrong tho and find shes in oxford or something pg brain here!!!

starrynight · 08/07/2005 08:27

Had my first dreams about giving birth last night! I dreamt my waters broke, then had contractions etc , then that I was feeling the babies head come out slowly. Then it was a boy! (who was also one of my teaching dolls with a squashed head?!)

Strange - but it didn't hurt a bit!

starrynight · 08/07/2005 08:28

DQ we are investing in a super king size bed (6 ft x 6 ft) so that we have enough space. Yippee - can't wait.
