Nemo1977 · 27/06/2005 21:40

Tc busy weekend...my 20 wk appointment is same day as urs but will be 21 wks just. I need to make midwife appointment as was supposed to have one on tues but silly mw forgot to actually book it in so will phone and make one for next week.

goldenoldie · 27/06/2005 22:35

Starry - I've yet to meet a twin mum who would rather have had one. Double the drouble, but double the reward too. I'm soooooooo excited.

scully · 28/06/2005 09:28

Think it was me Sweetheart, who's local to you, I'm Surrey/Hampshire borders. But I've gone with RS and I think you are at Frimley?
My next midwife appt is also on 15th Jul and next scan on 8th Aug, plus a consultant appt on 23 Aug, to start discussing birth options, as dd was breech......
Morning sickness has calmed down finally but hayfever has been awful for the past 2 wks. Good excuse to get out of gardening but it's starting to look like a jungle!

sweetheart · 28/06/2005 09:34

Morning everyone, it's very exciting to see a brand new thread

I'm 17 + 2 here gosh that seems so much further along!!!!!

Scully - sorry to be so rude, how could I forget you!!! Yes it is you that is near to me!!!

Anyway, busy day today so might not manage to get on much.

Have a fab day everyone xxxxx

MINNIE1 · 28/06/2005 09:37

Morning all

SH,
Your nearly half way there

ninah · 28/06/2005 09:40

Hello all! I have lost track of how far along I am tbh. I am still in post-scan euphoria.
Had a works do last night, was really good fun.
Thomcat you lead a busy life! Dancing?! I had to chase after someone up the road and was left really breathless, so respect to you!
Busy day here, too but hope to be on this pm sometime ...

Anyone else in London?

Anyone else working and sorted out their maternity leave?

scully · 28/06/2005 09:51

Goldenoldie, I'm working.....supposedly! edd is 17/12 and I'm looking at finishing 4wks before, so on or around 18/11. I finished 2wks before last time but with dd at home already and a longer commute, figure a bit more time at home before might be nice.
So 20wks this Friday until I finish, if I stick to 18/11, not that I'm desperate or anything......

dramaqueen72 · 28/06/2005 10:07

morning ladies. hope everyones well, you working mums sound busy!
so whos felt movement and when? goldenoldie you have havent you? and expat too right? SIGH, i'm so impatient to feel this belly bean!!!!
going holiday clothes shopping with dh today -for entire family, (we go away in august) fun shopping for everyone else but not me!

george32 · 28/06/2005 10:20

I have my toilet paper at the ready DQ!!
I have some girls names (although not OK'd with DP yet!). I too like Rebecca or Abigail or Isabelle. No boys names springing out so far.

I think Aug 9th is going to be a busy day. I'm off for my 20 week scan that day too!

GoldenOldie, I work in London (live in High Wycombe). I've had my "maternity" chat with HR and I really think I'm going to leave 11 weeks before. I have a 3hr commute each day which leaves me exhausted and I just don't want to put myself through it for any longer than I have to. Plus I'm fed up of feeling so grim on the tube & people pushing me.

I've had the day off today as I feel truely terrible. Headache, sick, dizzy, exhausted. Hoping a day of doing nothing will sort me out again.

Hope everyone else is OK.

Nemo1977 · 28/06/2005 10:22

morning all...i am absolutely shattered today and dont know why as dh let me have a lie in. I have my mw appointment booked for thurs at 11.30
hope u r all ok

goldenoldie luckily dont have to think of maternity leave this time but last time with ds i worked until week before he was due...stupid idea..lol

Nemo1977 · 28/06/2005 10:23

its weird we all have our scan on same day or within day of each other..lol

goldenoldie · 28/06/2005 10:28

Drama - yes, I've felt a little movement - not everyday yet. Thank goodness for the doppler tho. Bloody security barriers on the tube shut on me when I was halfway through. Luckily my bag took most of the impact, but I still got a good thump on my bump. Babies h/b fine and I feel OK so trying not to worry too much.

Scully - I can't wait to finish either. It's too hot and my office is only partly air-conditioned. Finding buses/tubes the whole rush-hour commute a real struggle. And I don't always get a seat even tho it is very, very obvious I am pregnant (40 inch bump, and 27 cms fundal height). Don't think I can do this for too much longer.

I can't start maternity leave till mid-Sept when I will be 29 weeks, but if I still feel like this, or worse, I will ask doctor to sign me off sick earlier.

george32 · 28/06/2005 10:30

Don't know if anyone else will have seen but Hereshoping has posted on the TTC thread. She has had a rough time with bleeds but her little bean is 13 weeks & doing OK.

Put a huge smile on my face. I'm so pleased.

MINNIE1 · 28/06/2005 10:33

george32
had that on Sat and Sun, felt like hell.. But i am back to my chirpy self again.. Hope you feel better soon.

Nemo1977,
Best wishes at the MW..

I think i get maternity 2 wks b4 i am due!!! aghhhh cant wait that long... going to have to check that out!

scully · 28/06/2005 10:33

yep, struggling into London every day is hard enough with 1, let alone 2 - people should definitely be getting up for you now Golden. mind you saying that I've only had one offer of a seat and that was at 10wks!
I was as much paid leave afterwards as possible which is my only motivation for staying until a month before, but will come down to how I feel. I also have a 3 hr return commute and am out of the house for close on 12hrs each day, so may well be fed up with that sooner than I think!
Anyone wearing one of those 'bump' badges? Starting to think I may need to, as sitting on the floor won't be an option in the coming months.....

goldenoldie · 28/06/2005 10:35

PS - anyone else find that it is only other women that give up their seat on the bus/tube?

I even have a badge from London Transport that has 'baby on board' printed on it - just in case anyone thought my huge bump was just too many dinners.

Men read it, look at my bump and look away. Women look at my bump, read the badge and immediately offer me a seat. Why is that?

I feel like announcing at the top of my voice that it was a man that got me in this state and the least other men could do would be to offer me a seat - preferably before I faint/vomit over them and pull the security cord to stop the train - causing misery and holding-up everyone till the ambulance arrives..................

george32 · 28/06/2005 10:36

Why do we do it??????
I really don't know when it seemed like a good idea to spend so long getting to work every day.
Roll on October & those lazy days of being a beach ball

goldenoldie · 28/06/2005 10:39

Scully - you must get a bump badge - it def. makes a difference.

george32 · 28/06/2005 10:40

Where do you get the bump badges from?

Thomcat · 28/06/2005 10:41

Maternity leave??? Blimey, not even thought about it. I guess, i hope I'll work up until the week before like last time. having said that as Mole is due 22 dec might be nicer to have a bit more time offbefore and spend it with Lottie and getting organised for Xmas. Also I'm hoping Mole will be a few days early, (rather than a few days late!) How much maternity leave do you get these days anyway, does anyone know?

So have you all seen a midwife yet? My first appt with a midwife is 15 July.

no movements here, surely it's a teeny bit early??? I'm 14 wks + 5 today.

Nemo I'll be 20 + 5 on the day on the 9 Aug (my 20 wk scan).

dramaqueen72 · 28/06/2005 10:41

george -did hereshoping really post? oh must go find that!
ugh ot travelling on the tube, cant believe you dont get a seat!!!!! i would swoon slightly and clutch at person in nearest seat and force them into standing. I'd stand up for you goldenoldie
my bf left work seven hours before her dd was born.....oops! and my sister also the day before her maternity leave started .....they both curse no time to get prepared/rested etc. so if you can sneak home sooner do so!
okay everyone TP at the ready.............

goldenoldie · 28/06/2005 10:44

If you are in London you get them from any bus garage or Tube station - just ask for one at the booking office. As they are made by London Transport I don't know if they are offered by transport systems outside of London?

george32 · 28/06/2005 10:49

Thanks GoldenOldie. I go from South Ruislip so I'll have a try there.
DQ, I'm ready to measure.........

scully · 28/06/2005 10:56

yep, think I will need to get a badge, or my bump could just nudge the newspapers people hide behind, as the train goes along, like the last pregnancy.......
Also want to check when/if I'm entitled to an upgrade to 1st class, although that's usually full as well!
I've had no movement yet either but have had my suspicions the last couple of days. I'm 15+3 so any day now I guess.
My dd has started including the bump in family outings now - this morning she said mummy, daddy, her and the baby in my tummy could all go to the fun fair this weekend - made me smile!
