Hello everyone - I don't get to drop by that often so it's lovely to catch up with everyone's news.

Great to see that lots of people are feeling a bit better. Except kinnies sorry to hear you've been so ill. Hopefully it will begin to abate soon. I've started to feel much better this week. I'm 10+6 so it's a little early and I'm a teeny bit worried but mostly thinking I'm probably just lucky. I was feeling pretty energetic yesterday and reactivated my gym membership which I had suspended when I was feeling crap. We'll see how that goes!

Spirael, your scan is amazing. I'm so excited for mine now which is on Tuesday. I had an early scan at 6 weeks and all I could see was a teeny tiny fluttering star which was the heartbeat and can't believe things can change so much in 6 weeks. Very exciting!

It's really snowy here which is lovely. Looking forward to putting my wellies on and going for a big walk. It was my Christmas party last night so I'm feeling pretty smug about not being hungover for once!

HowTheGibbonStoleChristmas · 19/12/2009 09:13

Hello All
So sorry rooby

Gracie how annoying for you! I would have been very peeved. Badger them on Monday and explain had you known you would not have got a prescription you would not have been so accommodating.

So pleased for everyone that have had scans and so exited for everyone yet to have one

We had our NHS one this week, the relief on seeing the heartbeat was amazing, many prayers of thanks! Have the private one next week which is much more detailed and please God all being ok will start to tell people after that

Still feeling pretty ropey but hoping it'll be gone soon.

Sorry if I have missed anything, this thread moves so fast I find it hard to keep up!

TishTosh21 · 19/12/2009 09:47

stac Ill be 12+6 by then, DP is taking the day off work, I am so excited I just want to have it now! How many weeks will you be?

Gracie123 · 19/12/2009 10:15

Dh has just pointed out that I have managed to double book scan and gp appt to get ms drugs. What was I thinking?
So now I have to choose, do I put off the scan (probably won't get another appt for two weeks and they are very busy. Not sure I can cope with another two weeks of not knowing after bad scan last time ) or do I go to scan and try for another drs appt (takes about a week to get appt, plus gp will be shut over Christmas, so realistically looking at new year) but sonographer probably won't see anything because I'm so dehydrated and I puke when I drink anything, even plain water.
Tbh I know the answer. I can't even get to the hospital at the minute. I haven't got out of bed since Monday apart from the short trip to see nurse (vomited twice in the surgery)
just so disappointed. Don't know how I'm going to make it through Christmas and new year with the iL's not knowing.

Gracie123 · 19/12/2009 10:17

Ps thanks for all the messages over the last two weeks ladies. Everytime I worry about the scan and lack of heartbeat I come on here and am gratefully distracted by your chatter.
I'm sure you'll help me get through until we can get another appt.

TishTosh21 · 19/12/2009 10:24

when is the scan gracie?

kinnies · 19/12/2009 10:56

gracie

When I couldnt get a dr's appointment for sicknes drugs, I went to my local 'walk in centre' and I got some to last me a week or so. If you call nhs direct they should be able to tell you where your nearst one is.

Gracie123 · 19/12/2009 11:07

E live in the middle of nowhere. Our nearest one is about a one hour drive away and I really can't face it.

Being a bit naughty actually, I just googled promethazine (what I had with ds) and found out you can get milder doses of it over the counter as a sleeping pill.
Dh has gone to see if he can convince the pharmacist to sell him some until we can see the dr, whenever that is.

Scan is supposed to be on Monday morning.

TishTosh21 · 19/12/2009 11:12

Tbh I would prefer to go to the scan. At least then you will know how the baby is doing and if all is well (which it will be!) you can tell your family the good news over xmas.

Gracie123 · 19/12/2009 11:28

Pharmacist is being an arse. The trouble with a small village is that they remember when you've already been in and what it was for
dh is going to try a pharmacy in town (40 mins away) but if not it looks like we may have to go to the walk in centre.
I'm just scared they are going to put me on a drip because I haven't been able to drink and no pee for 24 hrs. Tbh in enough pain that I'd actually consider it now

WinterMadness · 19/12/2009 12:01

Gracie your health is the most important thing at this stage. If you're seriously dehydrated that's not good for you or the baby so I would suggest sorting yourself out as the best option. I appreciate that this falling over the Christmas period may put delays on scans etc but you're ill. And as for taking a week to get a GP appointment, your doctors aren't abiding by NHS timescales of 24/48hr access. In my opinion, hyperemesis/dehydration is an emergency and can't wait - you should be given a same day appointment.

Whatever you decide, hope you're feeling better soon. But maybe take the viewpoint that as you feel so bad, things will be just fine come scan time

Is your scan NHS or private? You may find if private they'll accommodate you quicker than you think. I've got a private nuchal trans + blood tests on Tuesday which I rearranged due to illness and she squeezed me in and just said she'd see me regardless. Hope you have as much luck x

WickedWitchSouthWest · 19/12/2009 13:35

gracie oh you poor thing...I agree completely with winter it's now an emergency if you are that dehydrated. Please please go to the walk in centre...and keep your scan appt, there's nothing like seeing your little wriggler

kinnies so sorry you are bad too. I hope it passes soon for you (yay to your dh making up for last time lol)

No news here. Dragging my slightly snotty self and still poorly dd up to shops for various things while dh moves his office into our newly converted garage.

Oh, the dreams!!!! anybody else? my word. I've been unfaithful to my husband many times a night with many different men (celebrities, neighbours etc) it's quite a worry and incredibly vivid! I'm going to have a hard time chatting to my best male friend this week

Albrecht · 19/12/2009 14:42

Hi all, have been lurking for a while but feeling too awful and knackered to introduce myself.

Gracie, I was also vomming everything incl water and getting dehydrated. What worked for me was room temp lucozade (healthy I know!) Open it up so the fizz goes a little and then tiny sips. The sugar and god knows what that is in there kept me going. I know others swear by flat coke so maybe try a variety of sugary drinks and one might work for you so you can get to the scan. Also sucking a sugary sweet like a fruit pastille helps to take away the puke taste. Even if you are sick after its not so bad coming up and better than an empty stomach contents.

Have been off work for ages but my sickness is coming and going now so take heart everyone who is feeling rubbish, it should start to get better soon. I had my scan on Wed and they've moved my due date to 24 June so I'm probably a bit ahead of most of you.

stac14 · 19/12/2009 17:12

Gracie I agree with everyone else, think it would be best for you to get seen. The way you have been treated is ridiculous. Hopefully you can still get scan on Monday as that will definately perk you up hun. Sorry to everyone who is feeling crappy and welcome to the thread albrecht tish I will be 12+4 at the scan so we're nearly the same stage. I'm just looking forward to getting by 12 weeks lol Have you told many people?

wwsw I'm getting some very vivd ones too, unfaithful with best friends hubby lol also some of them are quite freaky. But usually I wake up needing the loo and that solves it

Hope everyone else is well xxx

Chulita · 19/12/2009 19:49

gracie I think you should get someone to see you, if you're lucky they might squeeze you in with a scan if they see how ill you are [hopeful emoticon] I'm praying things start to look up for you!

MumfieMagic · 19/12/2009 21:07

Hey everyone, haven't posted in an age, dang work. Also, had dating scan, HOW exciting, turns out got my facts totally wrong (unless i'm due a mammoth baby )and i'm supposedly due on 29th June. So am off to another thread but may dip in occasionally, good luck everyone!!! xxxx

TishTosh21 · 19/12/2009 21:21

wicked Im the same with the dreams! I have really really vivid ones, not necessarily about the same thing but some quite random. Alot have involved a baby i.e being really pregnant, giving birth, holding a baby etc.
Its just one of those lovely side effects of pregnancy i guess!

stac We have told my DP's mum and siblings as we knew they would all be so pleased (2 siblings have given birth this year) but we have yet to tell his dad and my parents. We've decided to wait til after the scan just to be absolutely sure before they go telling all their friends etc. Have you told many people yet?

WickedWitchSouthWest · 20/12/2009 00:08

ooo mumfie how exciting! Keep popping in though

tish funny enough those were the kind of dreams I had when pg with dd, all baby related Oh and we've told everyone. Mum did her Christmas cards broadcasting it so there you go...fingers crossed everything continues well....

I'm wondering if I'm having a boy this time? Just because I'm on heat at the moment and wasn't at all with dd. Is it possible there's extra testosterone in my system from a baby boy?! I have no clue, grasping at straws now.

stac14 · 20/12/2009 00:30

wwsw would you like a boy this time? I'm not on heat at all, but was with ds so maybe it is extra testosterone lol

tish some family know and a few friends but dp has broadcast it to his work, which i wasnt to happy about as wanted to wait till 12 weeks.
XxX

Gracie123 · 20/12/2009 09:12

Well I did ge worse so I went to the walk in centre. Dr was very unhappy that the np hadn't even bothered to examine as I was suffering severe dehydration which could easily have been picked up the day before.
I explained the mw thing but she said that was no excuse and she should have had another nurse take a look at me then.
They threatened drip etc over night, but when I started crying she said we could try promethazine for 24 hours. If I can drink a couple of pints without vomiting I can stay at home, but if when she examines me this avo i'm not improved they are going to admit me

good news is, because I don't need any treatment (just rehydration) they are more than happy to admit me to the mw led unit so that I can still have my scan on Monday .

It is an Nhs scan, so it's very difficult to reschedule, but the dr was very understanding as said she would make sure that I could still have it.

Gracie123 · 20/12/2009 09:16

Ps those with kinky dreams - me too! Although last night i dreamt I found out my dad was having an affair with one of my friends from school (I was a kid again) and he announced it at a family gathering and couldn't understand why we were all upset. Promethazine gives you strange dreams...

Dr reckons with ms this bad I must be having twins! Maybe twin boys?

TishTosh21 · 20/12/2009 09:28

stac thats exactly the same for me, a few family members and friends know and DP has told his work but i dont mind about that cos then he doesnt have to make up bad excuses when he takes the day off for the scan.

wicked ooo maybe im having a girl then!

Emster30 · 20/12/2009 12:38

So glad you got seen and you can still have your scan Gracie! Would you be pleased if it does turn out to be twins?

I always wanted to have twins from when I was very little, but now I blimmin well hope it's not! I don't see how people cope with childcare costs for two children, let alone when they're the same age. Plus I'd rather spread it out a bit and having to look after two babies at once sounds like a nightmare. I'm sure I'd cope though. I don't think it's likely I'll have twins though as I haven't been very sick or anything and they aren't in my immediate family. Though my mum insists they are in the family and do skip generations...

Gracie123 · 20/12/2009 12:53

We unfortunately have lots of twins on both sides of our families!
Not sure how I'll cope if it is twins. Barely managed with ds on my own last time. I guess he'll just have to grow up fast and learn how to help mommy do laundry! Tbh, if it is twins I would almost certainly use disposable diapers, laundry with one lo is hard enough!!
No, I'm not sure I want twins, but it would mean I don't have to go through this ms stuff again for another child, so maybe not all bad?
I suspect dr was just having a guess because I am so fat!

WickedWitchSouthWest · 20/12/2009 14:59

gracie I'm so pleased you saw someone last night and you get to have your scan still Twins! oo exciting...should be fun

Well maybe it is a boy then...when having dd I was always looking at pink things and this time round I have been drawn to more boys names so who knows? I will be having a sneaky peak at the 20 week scan though!
