Hi Girls - so here we all are and so far so good (fingers and toes crossed and wheelbarrow loads of baby dust abounding)

Thought I would start a new thread (new name too) as babies being found out about now will just about be into March so we are no longer the absolute newbies which feels good!

So maybe we should collate all our due dates(any one had a dates scan yet??)

Keep it up!

Tabs - I have sent a message to hotmama1 so hopefully we will hear something soon....

Tabs · 02/08/2005 12:33

Excellent work detective TicTac!

TicTac · 02/08/2005 12:37

Do I get a badge and everything LOL

popmum · 02/08/2005 12:46

Afternoon ladies - i had my 12 week scan this morning and all was well with the little one. Was sooooo glad to see it wriggling around - it was a bit cheeky and wouldn't pose very well but we have a weird face on shot which is a bit spooky!
Such a relief.
Also saw consultant and ran through my 1st delivery and she only wants to see me now at 36 weeks which is good

TicTac · 02/08/2005 12:49

Aww fab news Pop!! Mine was a face on shot too...very skeletal looking aren't they. Teuch has posted a picture of her scan (there is a link below, just remove one of the mumsnet things) it is a fab piccy, you should have a look!

popmum · 02/08/2005 12:50

yes, very skeletal - it is ok to say it looked like the devil isn't it?!! ha ha (hope that is not a bad omen, my 1st is a angel!)

TicTac · 02/08/2005 12:52

LOL Pop, I am glad you said it but you are right!!! This is my first baby but I already think it will be a cheeky one!

Tabs · 02/08/2005 13:11

Great news Popmum. I think that Lucifer is a very underused name these days - perhaps you could bring it back into circulation as it seems appropriate

BarefootMama · 02/08/2005 14:20

Sorry to hear about your first Popmum! Everything will be good this time - fantastic news about your scan!

popmum · 02/08/2005 14:30

barefootmama - 1st was ok in the end but had to have emergency-c-section. I see from the table you are on number 5 and I take it you'd say things do get easier (birthwise) as you have more?!

TicTac · 02/08/2005 15:06

All these babies... I am soooo excited about becoming a mum for the first time

spacecadet · 02/08/2005 16:02

tic tac, im hoping to be early as my lasy 3 bubs were early inductions.

TicTac · 02/08/2005 16:30

So will you be induced then Space? I had heard that it can be quite traumatic...is that not true?

spacecadet · 02/08/2005 17:26

tic-tac-its very quick, you dont get the gradual build up like you do in a normal labour,dd2 was born in an hour, start to finish, and yes it was traumatic from the point of view that they had sent dh home and he nearly missed it! didnt have any pain relief, not by choice!!!! wanted an epidural but t6hey said it was too late and cant tolerate gas and air., but on the good side i had no stitches!

TicTac · 02/08/2005 18:30

Wow, sounds like it wasn't too bad then.

Why am I still chucking? Thought I had barfed my last barf but just had big episode

babylily · 02/08/2005 19:15

I had my scan yesterday and unfortunately it was not a happy event. Basically the nuchal measurement has put us in very high risk for downs, my bloods then confirmed the risk. We have to go back to the hospital on thur for counselling and an attempt at CVS. (depending on the placental position). If they can't do that it's amnio in 3 wks time.
At the moment we feel like we're in mourning for the potential perfect baby. I haven't gone 5 minutes without crying in the past 36 hours...so much so that my beautiful 2 yr old has told me to stop crying, mummy. (we are not goin to continue with the pregnancy if chromosomal abnormality is confirmed...which in itself means induced labour by the time the amnio/cvs results come in).
We're both 32 and just never imagined this would happen to us. We can't even look at the scan picture. It all feels so over. (the risk ratio we've been given is unbelievably high)
So, maybe I'll be back in september if we get a good result. If not, good luck everyone with your february babies.

Frizbe · 02/08/2005 19:49

Oh Babylily, I do really hope that they've gotten it wrong and things turn out well for you all {{{Big Hugs}}}

Hi to eveyone else, hope the sickness is wearing off, I'm feeling a bit better today....10 weeks tomorrow.

Tabs · 02/08/2005 20:44

babylily - do try not to think the worst. Even a 1 in 2 chance would mean that there's as much chance of things being fine as there is of them not! Those tests aren't massively accurate, so please try to keep thinking positively, at least until you know for sure.

TicTac · 02/08/2005 21:11

Oh Babylily I am so sorry things are not going well at the minute. I know there are few words I could offer to help but if you can, try to hold off thinking the absolute worse until you have all the facts. It is an awful decision to have to make and you and your DH are really brave for handling this already...but remember it is not over until it is really over. And as Tabs said, these test are so far from accurate you may well be lucky.

I really do have everything crossed for you and big hugs coming your way! XXX

TicTac · 03/08/2005 08:39

Morning,

I have taken the day off work today. Feel rotten and had major sick session last night.

Hope everyone else is feeling ok!

womba1 · 03/08/2005 08:48

Babylily.. our thoughts are with you at this tough time x

Tictac.. poor you, but at least you can have a day at home. I'm feeling really well and i feel kind of guilty not suffering with sickness or anything. I do feel tired but thats more to do with having a boistrous 2 year old running about the place.

How is everyone else fairing thie morning?

TicTac · 03/08/2005 08:52

Morning Womba1, It's really weird, I felt nauseous in the early stages and dog tired. Then I stopped being tired and started throwing up...PAH!!

did you escape sickness with your 1st 2?

womba1 · 03/08/2005 09:02

I didn't feel in the slightest bit sick with my first 2 pregnancies and have had the odd wave of nausea with this one but thats all. I have a real phobia about vomiting and would rather feel as sick as a dog so long as i knew i wouldn't actually throw up!!
My ds has only ever been sick once and i'm talking proper adult puke.. and i turned into a completely hysterical nutter! But i dealt with it and was so proud of myself!
I doubt it makes much sense to people that aren't phobic about vomit but i can't think of anything worse... makes me wonder why i'm having another child really?!?!?!

TicTac · 03/08/2005 10:00

LOL....That's good Womab1 at least your body is not making you throw up...prob knows you can't stand it!!

I have a real phobia of needles, I always think people don't understand too. To make it worse, the hospital are finding it hard to get my bloods, they finally got a vein on Monday but it wasn't without 3 goes! Can you imagine the state I was in! My back was soaked...I hate it!

womba1 · 03/08/2005 10:12

I can completely empathise with you Tictac. My blood is rhesus negative and i'm forever having needles stuck in me and although it doesn't bother me, i can't watch them doing it and i can't bare seeing other people having it done!
In my last pregnancy, i had the most wonderful mw but she was shite at taking blood. At my booking, she apologised as she was coming at me with the needle and said that she wasn't very good at this but she'd have a go!!! Needless to say, after stabbing both arms and bruising the hell out of me, she didn't get a drop of blood and ended up sending me to the clinic. After that, i wouldn't let her near me, as at the mere mention of blood taking, my veins would totally disappear.

Have you got the date for your next scan yet? Mine is for the 10th October... seems ages away!
