Hi Girls - so here we all are and so far so good (fingers and toes crossed and wheelbarrow loads of baby dust abounding)

Thought I would start a new thread (new name too) as babies being found out about now will just about be into March so we are no longer the absolute newbies which feels good!

So maybe we should collate all our due dates(any one had a dates scan yet??)

Keep it up!

Big big hugs Space - I was terrible with DD, and am sooo relieved that things are better this time round.... I am still scared though that it could all start up any day. With the dates confusion last time, I don't remember exactly when it began - somewhere between 8 and 10 weeks I think, so I still have time to start.

Crackerbread is working wonders for me in the mornings/middle of the night.

YeahBut · 28/07/2005 15:49

Hi everyone. So sorry to hear that some of you are still feeling grotty (space et al.). Fingers crossed and touching everything in sight that even looks like wood, my sickness SEEMS to be ebbing. Still get the odd day where I feel distinctly off colour but it is getting less. This is a lot like my pregnancy with dd1. I had wondered if this might be a boy as the sickness was a lot worse but as it is wearing off around the same time as dd1, I'm wondering if we are having another girl.

I've had a look at those chinese gender prediction charts for fun (search archived messages for the links as I am rubbish!) and they both say girl. DH will be glad if it's another girl. He's such a softy!

I had my scan yesterday which went really well. Smudge was having a sleep and was not very impressed at being woken up. Kept kicking in the direction of the scanner trying to get it off! We've got a lovely full-face picture where we can see both the eyes and mouth. My nuchal scan and serum results give me a very low risk of downs syndrome so I feel very relieved. It's nice to be "official" now and able to tell friends and family! We told the girls last night when we got back and they are soooo chuffed and excited! DD2 is a little confused by the timescale though. She came bounding through to my room at 7am this morning to ask if the baby was here yet! Dd1 is so sweet and trying to look after me. She asked if I wanted breakfast in bed this morning and to be sure to tell her if I needed a lie down so she could look after me. Feeling very proud of my girls today!!

So glad to hear that the scans seem to be going well for everyone. Take care of your bumps!

flamesparrow · 28/07/2005 15:50

I want my date to come through!!

BarefootMama · 28/07/2005 17:57

Lovely Yeahbut! Whats your due date again?

TicTac · 28/07/2005 20:04

Hi Yeahbut - great news and what fab girls you already seem to have! I bet they bought a tear to your eye!

Flamesparrow - I bet you "date" will come through while you are on honeymoon, that'll be a nice present for you eh?

Not a lot going on with me, still feel slighlty grim some days and getting quite fed up with clothing situation. Not quite ready to don maternity wear, yet too big for current cloth selection...
We go on holiday to Canada & America in a few weeks so I am really trying to hold out buying anything until then...I don't think this plan will work though

spacecadet · 28/07/2005 20:34

flamesparrow-you may be lucky and not get the sickness this time, keeping my fingers crossed.
yeahbut-great news on your scan

Frizbe · 28/07/2005 21:06

Oooh tictac you lucky thing! try and hold on,then shop till you drop! I think old navy have a good maternity range! and their clothes are always lovely and comfy and last for ages/wash really well!

Yeahbut, bless your girls, they sound lovely, lol at baby kicking scanner as well!

SC nice to hear things are a bit better this time round.

Hi to everyone else, hope your all feeling ok at the mo.

TicTac · 29/07/2005 11:04

Hello?!?!

Tabs · 29/07/2005 11:55

LOL! Hello TicTac! How are you today?

BarefootMama and YeahBut - great news re scans. I take it no-ones dates have changed as a result of having them? Will stick a stats update up early next week once we have any updates from Monday's scans in too.

flamesparrow · 29/07/2005 12:36

Hellooooooooooo!!!

Still no scan date I was half hoping that if it came this week, there was a chance we would be able to rearrange it by a week. ATM I know it will be sometime after the 14th, but if I could have it the week before, DH wouldn't have to take time off work.

More sickness today - panicked that I'd hit week 10 and was therefore going to start being sick for England, but it seems to be settling again.

Rushing round trying to get sorted for holiday. DD is all packed ready for Gran - worrying about how she will be without us for a week, and how I will be without her!!!

Toothache · 29/07/2005 12:42

Just crashing to say - OMG SPACECADET CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

flamesparrow · 29/07/2005 12:53

Ooh - Quickie... Who's planning on finding out if they are having a pink baby or blue baby, and who's going with surprise?

I'm a surprise girlie myself.

TicTac · 29/07/2005 13:11

Hi...you are alive

Great idea about the stats update next week!

My friend had her scan yesterday and all was well, she is now due 11th Feb, her date fell back a bit.

DH wants to find out if we are having blue or pink but I think I might like to keep the surprise to keep me pushing!

Tabs · 29/07/2005 13:12

Good question FS. I'm planning on finding out. Was anti this until a discussion on another forum a few months ago turned me! We're having a 4D scan when I'm 28 weeks, so figured we'd probably notice then anyway, so we might as well find out as soon as anyone can tell. Might try and keep the result to ourselves if we can though.

TicTac · 29/07/2005 13:18

Tabs - Can I ask why you are having a 4d scan (sorry if it is too personal) I was just wondering because a collegue of mine had one done and was really delighted with the results etc. Shortly after I read an article (would either have been a preg mag or the newspaper) about there being a school of thought that suggests it may not be too good for the baby.
I never really believe this stuff to be honest but the 4D scan is something that interests me so I was just wondering what made you decide...might help me decide to have one or not!

spacecadet · 29/07/2005 13:38

thanks toothy, didnt you know???
my hospital dont tell you what sex your baby is, i will prob have a babybond scan as i did last time and it was fab

Toothache · 29/07/2005 13:40

SC - I don't think so.... but then my memory is crap. I half expected to scroll down that thread only to find the same thing posted by me last week!

TicTac · 29/07/2005 13:41

SC - What is a babybond scan??

Tabs · 29/07/2005 15:07

Hi TicTac - not too personal at all! No particular reason for having it other than it looks so cool, and I fancied having a dvd of inside the womb to play at it's 18th b'day party .

There's never been any sort of evidence of scans causing any harm to babies - we wouldn't all be given them on the NHS if that was the case! I think a few people just like to scaremonger a bit. I'm super paranoid about doing anything that could harm baby (symptom of previous m/c I think), so if there was even the slightest bit of evidence pointing to a link then I wouldn't go ahead. Hope that sets your mind at ease a little.

YeahBut · 29/07/2005 17:14

BarefootM - I'm due on 4th Feb so a long way to go!

Flamesparrow, I'm going to find out the sex of Smudge this time. We didn't with dd1 and to be honest, the reality of a baby was a big enough surprise. The sex just didn't seem to matter. Second time round, we decided to find out and it was really nice to be able to think of names and buy something in the appropriate colour. We could also talk to dd1 about her baby sister before she arrived. I'm keen to find out the sex this time, mainly because if it is a boy, I want a bit of time to get used to the idea and get my head around the nappy thing!

I love the idea of the 3D scans. The pictures just look so amazing. They won't give you one here unless they are looking for a particular problem (cleft palate / hare lip / spinal problems) but I think you can get one privately if you are prepared to pay for it. I don't think we'll bother because I imagine that I'll be having rather a lot of scans given my previous history!!

TicTac · 29/07/2005 18:03

Thanks Tabs...so when do you get that scan then? You could always give it to beans husband/ wife on their wedding day..LOL Imagine their faces when they watch it!!!

spacecadet · 29/07/2005 19:32

tic-tac, babybond do non diagnostic scans, its 20 mins long and you lie on a couch with a huge tv screen on wall in front of you which projects your scan, all played to the soundtrack of your choice, they then record it onto dvd or video for you, i just had a 2d scan with dd2 as i couldnt afford a 4d one, but the quality was excellent and we have a dvd to watch of emily for ever

popmum · 29/07/2005 21:11

Hi guys. Got my scan on tues and am already feeling nervous about it - so want everything to be ok. Am really trying not to get to excited about pregnancy until we have this - I need to know it is real. Though am def. stil feeling weird so am sure all is ok, but you never know.
Also have consultant appt straight after and am hoping they have my notes cos I would like to go over what happened with no. 1 so we can learn from it.
Good luck to those with monday ones - we are all getting close to the 12 week point now!

TicTac · 29/07/2005 22:34

Space - That sounds great, I might look into it!

popmum - I am 13 weeks now but only have a scan on Monday, I know what you mean about feeling nervouce though. I think we all are. Fingers crossed for everyone!

flamesparrow · 30/07/2005 11:03

I have a cold and I'm feeling very sorry for myself. We fly first thing tomorrow, and I haven't packed a thing yet cos I feel too rough!
