LuckyC · 30/10/2009 09:14

mogg and minnie - congrats on scans! Exciting, hey.

I am debating trekking back to London this weekend to hear my favourite DJ who is having a last-minute secret gig. This is our first weekend 'off' (ie alone, no guests, no plans) in 2 months; quite keen to sleep.

But also aware that as of May next year there will be no more last-minute jaunts to London...

What to do?

LotusPalm · 30/10/2009 09:18

Lucky - I vote sleep tonight, party tomorrow!

MoggMum · 30/10/2009 09:35

LuckyC...I'm thinking the same thing & trying to plan the odd weekend away in London plus a trip to Spain before May. Just waiting for the MS to go away first!!

Can any of you Mums who've done this before confirm that the 2nd trimester brings glowing skin, shiney hair and bags of energy? I'm starting to doubt it somehow!

AnAngelWithin · 30/10/2009 10:03

Morning ladies.

BRB i've been the same, we've all had a sickness bug, the kids are just about over it, so maybe my body will let me actually be ill now, not that I want to be

Pamelat, thats great news about your scan.

Moggmum, I can't promise, but yes, usually, it does get better!

I lost quite a bit of blood suddenly last night when I went to the toilet. Stopped now though. I have just got such a bad feeling I'm not going to be able to hold on to this little one

MoggMum · 30/10/2009 10:19

AnAngel..really hope everything is ok - have you called your doc to see if you can have an early scan to put your mind at rest?

suey2 · 30/10/2009 10:21

yyaayyyy pamelat!

Feeling better, though only 11 weeks today. First time i was sick and knackered between 8 and 18 weeks: this time 4.5 weeks to 10 weeks. Weird how different PGs can be. Belly now very much in evidence dawn through dusk: look about 4 months. But I saw my mate yesterday who has hyperemesis and i was pleased to see she had a bump too.

suey2 · 30/10/2009 10:24

soory x post- sorry to hear that, anangel: best of luck, everything crossed

Hollyoaks · 30/10/2009 10:31

angel hope your ok, do you think you will be able to get a scan?

suey no bump here yet, but only 10 weeks. Maybe it will pop out soon.

moggmum the 2nd trimester is the best, you suddenly get a massive energy boost and start to feel normal again. I remember feeling quite well right up until the last few weeks when it gets really uncomfortable (apart from getting comfortable in bed as soon as the bump appears) and weirdly the growth rate of all my body hair seemed to slow right down so didn't have to shave legs etc nearly so often as usual. Totally irrelevant to your question but thought I would mention it.

AnAngelWithin · 30/10/2009 10:36

I can't get to the EPAS anyway, DH can't get away from work, and my friend who could take me has gone away, plus I've got 4 kids in tow! Just got to sit it out i guess. Off to the inlaws for lunch which i am not really looking forward to but hey ho.

MoggMum · 30/10/2009 10:42

Thanks Hollyoaks, looking forward to the energy boost! Weirdly my hair seems to be getting darker!

LittleOneMum · 30/10/2009 10:50

angel thinking of you. Do try to get a scan as soon as you can.

Ok swine flu update (vaccine). I just had a very lengthy chat on the phone with my Mum's GP (she lives in France). He said basically that in France they are not recommending the Pandemrix vaccine which they are giving to pg women here. They are only giving Celvapan (which is only given to people allergic to eggs here) - not because there is any proof that Pandemrix is dangerous, but because they simply think that Celvapan is less of a risk and they can't see the point in taking the risk. He said that his own daughter who is pregnant will be having Celvapan, mainly because although it is true that most pregnant ladies will only have mild symptoms if they get swine flu, you are 4 times more likely to catch it if you are pg and in late pregnancy especially you are more likely to get complications (as your lungs are quashed up and your immune system is really repressed). Celvapan is available in two weeks time in France.
I'm just telling you this because I wanted to get a feel for other countries and what they are doing. I'm really minded to pretend I am allergic to eggs now! ...

BuongiornoPrincipessa · 30/10/2009 10:59

MinnieMummy I just sent you a friend request on FB. Sorry I'm not sure what CAT is - I'm quite new to this.

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 30/10/2009 11:34

Gils - good luck for your scan today

Pamelat - glad you've finally got a scan date!

Angel - hope you're OK and manage to get a scan soon so they can check you over.

I've heard that the Celvapan vaccine is better as well, but then someone knowledgeable was telling me yesterday that vaccines based on cell cultures (i.e. not eggs) are more risky in their opinion. It's so confusing, I have no idea what's best to do [shmm]

Sarahlou8 · 30/10/2009 12:00

Hi, I've been away for a bit and wondered if someone could put me back on the list?

9th May-Sarahlou,36,#3

Good luck to all of you having scans.
I've had a lot of problems with spotting so had a scan at 9+5 and everything was fine. It's a magical moment to see that there is a real life tiny baby in there!
I am now 12+5 and have a little bump at last and the sickness seems to be easing off a little bit (hope I haven't spoken too soon)

Hope to catch up a bit better soon x

Gils · 30/10/2009 12:57

Hi all

had scan this morning and everything fine. Due date got moved forward 2 days, woo hoo. What a relief to see the fluttering heartbeat. Baby just lying there looking out at us, not a care in the world.

So nice to start telling people although finding MIL has struggled with secret!

It's so lovely everyone having their scans, I was due mine this afternoon but having it Monday instead now.

Hopefully we will all be seeing an end to MS and start growing little bumps in the next few months.

Been v busy today, 2 halloween parties, older 2 had haircuts, carving pumpkins, usual school and nursery runs and I have to take one of the cats to the vets later on and not looking forward to that, don't think it will have a good outcome.

memorylapse · 30/10/2009 17:16

its lovely to hear all the scan news
my ms has had a little surge today so Ive felt a bit pants today..heres hoping that everyones MS will soon be on its way out..Im 13+3 today and definitely have a mini bump..I need to think about getting some new trousers.
Angel..I really hope that you can get to the EPU soon for a scan

Yorky · 30/10/2009 20:47

Hi everyone, just to say I'm still here but have been at my parents for a few days, and DD has had a really nasty tummy bug which she gave to me and Mum
And then nursery sent DS home today with temp and yucky nappies, he's not right but didn't stop him eating a years supply of sweets at tonights halloween party!
Hoping everyone is feeling OK and starting to relax a little bit, I am so tired atm - could be due to having had a crap weeks sleep and being ill and organising Halloween party for DHs work family club, or due to baby!
I had my booking in appt with MW on Weds so am online for my HB! Still got to wait for 10 more days for my scan though

napa · 30/10/2009 21:47

Evening all,

Well after lurking on this thread (and the ones before it) I finally decided it was time to join after my nuchal scan today.

Quick intro...
have 1 DD (5.5 yrs)
2 mmc/erpc (last year and this year)
now 12+2 (or 12+4 or 12+6 depending on whether you go by lmp, early scan or nuchal scan).

Have had 6 scans in total cos of previous history and lots of panic!! But DH only saw the nuchal one today so now more real for him

And we told DD this evening and she is so excited she hasn't stopped talking about it!

Offical stats
napa, 31, due 12th May, #2

Can someone add me to the list as am new and not a clue how to do it.

Thanks

cupcakefairy · 30/10/2009 22:42

Hi girls, had my dating scan today and everything is fine.
It was amazing! Couldn't believe how clear it was and we saw baby straight away..I cried and dh was pretty overwhelmed! Both our Mums are going crazy and planning shopping trips already

Great news on scans everyone, congrats! I can't stop looking at my pics
I can't believe how much STUFF you get given though. I had to go round about 4 different people having bloods, urine sample, weight, little consultation etc, picking up more literature every step! Being in Wales of course everything has to be in Welsh too so twice the size poor dh was staggering out with it trying not to drop it all

Welcome napa have added you to list.

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 30/10/2009 22:51

Hi folks, hope you're all doing ok. Sweetkitty you sound like a much more busy version of me today, we've been doing halloweeny things, carving and decorating a pumpkin, haircuts etc! I love halloween, can't wait for the next couple of years to start having little parties etc

I think (touch wood) my ms is gone, although the ravenous 3 hourly hunger remains! I was up chomping on a banana at 5.30am this morning, couldn't sleeping for rumbling tummy.

Good news on all the scans, mine's on the 9th, I can't wait to see how the baby has grown, since at my last scan at 6.5 weeks the baby was little more than a blob of cells. Ooh, it's exciting!

Hollyoaks · 31/10/2009 08:05

of all those scans, 13 days for mine, can't wait. Glad they all went well, welcome to the thread officially napa.

I've got a busy day of carving pumpkins (I'm a pumpkin virgin, it was turnips in my day ), fairy cake baking and house tidying before we get ready to go trick or treating later on.

Done a little bit of online shopping yesterday and paid £5 for express delivery so I received the items before 12pm today. It now looks though that because I ordered after noon yesterday I won't receive them till maybe tomorrow. Have I just wasted £5 or is there a chance they may come this afternoon. Would love them to arrive before tonight but also need to go to supermarket and frightened to leave house incase I miss them. Any ideas?

mollybob · 31/10/2009 12:22

Adding myself - have my booking scan on Wednesday - had a scan at 6 weeks because of previous miscarriage with complications in April. Really rough few weeks with sickness but seems to be settling (touch wood)

AnAngelWithin · 31/10/2009 16:27

hi ladies. Happy Halloween!!!

Double figures for me today. 10 Weeks today (i think!)

My sicky feeling seems to be fading now, except when I am really hungry, and that seems to suddenly appear as well!! Am very jealous of all of you who have even got dates for your scans!!! I have heard....NOTHING...not even a call from the midwife. Sigh. I'm hoping I will hear something soon, make it seem a bit more 'real' as such?

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 31/10/2009 16:29

My hips hurt. I'm really really hoping it's not, but I suspect it's SPD already. It started at 11 weeks last time. I'm gutted!
