Hello folks, hope you're all ok.

Memorylapse, sorry you're so worried, you know that at this stage the baby is still small enough that if it turns round and is kicking towards your back you probably can't feel movements at all. (I haven't felt anything for a couple of nights either but I'm convinced it's just moved somewhere I can't feel it kicking) Try not to worry too much, although I can totally understand why you can't help worrying. Won't they agree to scanning you? I would just use the doppler today anyway tbh, using it twice in two days isn't going to do much harm, just lay off it a bit afterwards.

mollybob there's a couple of us who are high risk because of being overweight on this thread, you're in good company!

welcome to the thread cith

I have been worried about how I'll cope with another baby, but I have no worry from ds's perspective, I know he'd LOVE a sibling, and although he may be jealous (he isn't currently but 6 months is a lifetime away for a toddler, he may be in a completely different phase by then) I always wanted two kids so this feels right. I can't imagine loving another as much as James but I'm sure I will!

Sarahlou you're being so, so brave, I'm in awe of you! Be kind to yourself and enjoy christmas as much as you can, I'm wishing you loads of luck ttc again when you feel ready to. x

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 20/11/2009 11:21

Memorylapse - hope everything's OK and you get through to the end of the week and can relax a bit more.

Mollybob - I'm overweight and high risk although I don't get any extra scans as a result My BP is my biggest problem, although luckily I have a fab GP this time round who's very measured, sensible and on my side so I'm sure he'll be a huge help.

James - I think DD will love a sibling too. I know they'll have their moments, but she loves other children and is v.sociable so I'm hoping she'll be thrilled to have a little sibling around.

Pigley - sorry about your uncle

Yorky - happy birthday to your DD

SarahLou - please do come back to the thread, it will be lovely to keep in touch. I hope you have a great Christmas and best of luck for TTCing in the New Year

It's DH's grandmother's funeral this afternoon so it's a bit weird here. I think DH hasn't really been thinking about it until now so he's a bit sad. I'm just hoping DD (she's not coming to the service, just the wake) is on good form, although she's normally v.charming so I'm sure she will be.

memorylapse · 20/11/2009 11:44

Thanks everyone for the reassuring words

Im holding off using the doppler until tomorrow..I think I felt a couple of probs last night when I was getting into bed..not sure..
DH is taking me to Manchester tonight to see Kasabian..thank fully we have seated tickets...Im very excited but wondering how an earth Im going to keep awake!..I hope the baby doesnt mind 3 hours of loud music

memorylapse · 20/11/2009 11:44

meant to say prods..not probs

cupcakefairy · 20/11/2009 12:42

Morning all..
Ooh ML enjoy the concert- we went to see Muse last Friday & I'm so used to gigs I didn't expect to feel so exhausted just from a bit of dancing and screaming at the top of my lungs shouting...but I did, so take it easy

Hope everyone with funerals to go to is ok they are so sad but I always find the closure to be something quite peaceful too.

Right, back to work...

Hope everyone is feeling better today.

I ended up carrying DD1 (22 months, 2 stone!) and 2 bags for the charity shop and a bread bin (!) about 500m across and down a road this morning, felt my arms were going to drop off.

Does anyone else have really achey arms.

I cant hold mine up in the arm for more than a few seconds (I only know this because we had to try it in a yoga class!)

Hoping to exchange on the house today

memorylapse · 20/11/2009 13:32

Pamela..be careful you dont hurt your back.

Cupcakefairy..Im very at you seeing Muse..I love them..know what you mean about the tiredness, so very glad we have seated tickets..at least then I can be a boring old fart sensible and collapse into my seat

itshappenedagain · 20/11/2009 14:54

MoggMum · 20/11/2009 15:05

Just wondered if any of you have experience of travelling with young babies? We usually have a family holiday in Spain in August by which time LO will be 3 months old. I'm a bit worried that this will be too young to travel to a hot country & don't want to commit myself to going just yet. Any advice?

Cith · 20/11/2009 15:18

moggmum as a first timer here I don't have any experience of travelling with babies or young children (apart from with friends - and am aware of the amount of stuff they have to carry!!) But we too will be travelling in August - the long trip home to Australia (well home for me anyway!) for my brother's wedding in the middle of August. SO although is winter there then, will still be the equivalent of a UK summer in QLD and a bloody very long flight with a brand new LO! A friend of mine did the trip with a two month old and said that it was fine - not quite as relaxing an opportunity to drink and watch movies, but that feeding every couple of hours made the flight go faster!

LotusPalm · 20/11/2009 15:31

Hi Moggmum,

First timer here too, but we have an annual holiday to Greece at the end of August every year and i have already booked the flights. It feels a bit surreal booking them when its so far ahead, but i'm aiming to follow my sisters advice and now forget about it until check-in.

Greece and Spain are about the same distance and i reckon a 3 hour flight will be fine. Like Cith says, it should make it fly by! the only real concession we have made is to our flying times as we have always flown at night before...

I'm also told that you dont really need to take that much with you. If you have a pram / travel system with a bassinet this will also do for a place to sleep at night, its warm enough that baby only needs vests and you can buy nappies etc when you're out there. If you intend to breast feed too then all the better as no bottles or sterilising equipment needed. You could almost just go with hand luggage!

LittleOneMum · 20/11/2009 15:55

Hello, sorry I've been off radar all week.

Sarahlou I'm so sorry.x

Am shattered. Full time job and toddler plus pregnancy is hard!

xx

booboomonster · 20/11/2009 16:23

Just a quick hello to everyone -it's taken me a while to read all posts.

Sarahlou - really so sorry to hear your news. Loads of luck, thinking about you.

Glad to hear your news Cith, and Newmomma.

I went to a Miike Snow gig last week and when I arrived was horrified to find that it was in a nightclub (haven't been in one since pre DD) and that they weren't on til 11.15pm!! Eeek. I sat there sipping water til then (luckily found one of about 5 seats in the club) and actually really enjoyed it. Though the 5am start the next morning when DD woke up (she must have sensed that I'd been out) was a bit of a shocker and the next day was a right off - luckily it was sunday so DH helped out. So definately echo those who say take it easy!!

And yes I agree Littleonemum - toddler and pregnancy is hard! I am relieved when I go into work - could not be mum at home full time at moment, most respect to those who are!

For those feeling down - it's such a rollercoaster isn't it? Our hormones are all over the place. I have been arguing with DH over small things and losing my rag very easily. I feel I should wear a disclaimer badge "pregnant and likely to overreact". or something.

Hope everyone has lovely weekends and not too much stress. xx

mollybob · 20/11/2009 18:16

I went to Spain when DS was 3 months old in 1998 - gee I feel old. It was fine. He was bottlefed as the breast feeding went tits up with him - much better with DS so hope this time will be more like that. It was fine - lots of water as well as milk on hot days (with breast feeding that's not necessary as baby takes extra watery foremilk if needed in the heat. The holiday was a disaster but not because of DS - went with old friend - supposed to be me, DH, her and her DH but between booking and going he became her ex DH and all she wanted to do was drink and lie in sun and complain about her kids who my DH ended up looking after most mornings when she slept off her hangover. No probs with DS though and much easier travelling with him as baby than as tantrumming toddler. Think we'll do something in the summer but nothing booked yet (skintsville)

MoggMum · 20/11/2009 18:37

Thanks for your responses. Glad I'm not the only first timer thinking of heading abroad next Summer! I do intend to breastfeed so, like you say, that should make things easier (and keep LO occupied on the flight!). I'm thinking about buying a Murrons Pouch which may come in handy for travel too.

Cith.. how lovely to be going home for your Brother's Wedding - are you returning to UK or staying in Aus?

Lotus..Greece & Spain very similar temp late August and makes sense to travel light and buy nappies etc out there. Will have to find a suitable pram/travel system.

Molly..good to hear that your DS travelled so well at 3 months. Shame about your friend though! Your DH sounds like a saint to look after her children! If you decide to go away next year hopefully your DS will be old enough to help out with LO.

mollybob · 20/11/2009 21:44

My DH is a saint (most of the time!) but really my ex-friend was happy to leave her kids to their own devices and they were only 3 and 1. The villa was right beside a deep pool and the 3 year old nearly fell in while his mother was still in bed so DH was just doing the right thing.

DS might be a help with next one but he's a bit vague about anything not involving computers. DD will be 9 so relying on her too. Hopefully they'll be up for some babysitting in a few years.

TomlinTowers · 20/11/2009 23:04

Hi all

Just popping on to day hi - been out at a work do for the last two days that included drinks, dinner and dance last night. Had a fab time but totally tired out now.

We are thinking of booking a holiday next year in the September, just down to Cornwall so not as hot but same sort of travel times! Just have to pack light for us so we can fit all the stuff in the car!

Sorry to those feeling down - I hope you all feel more positive soon.

Can I just ask - is anyone else wearing maternity clothes yet? With DS1 I was in normal clothes until 17 - 18 weeks, but I am now 15 weeks and I can't do my trousers up and the thought of a tight waistband makes me feel ill. I am just concerned that this is too early for a bump and is in fact fat from the mountains of mini cheddars I consumed in the first few weeks to stave off ms!! It does look like a bump though....I can't have put on this much fat in 5 weeks of cheddars-eating, can I??!

Oh, and I have as of yesterday felt the first flutterings of movement - v v excited . Feeling it much earlier than with DS1 but it makes it all much more real.

MoggMum · 20/11/2009 23:28

Tomlin I'm also 15 weeks and am already in maternity trousers/jeans as my usual trousers felt too uncomfortable and I found myself sitting at my desk at work with my top button undone!

Weighed myself today and have put on 1/2 stone already . I expect that's mainly down to the amount I've been eating to keep the nausea at bay though!

Have been trying to keep myself fit with regular swimming and even went for a 3 mile run tonight which felt ok (was running and swimming lots before).

Sad to lose my waistline but loving the new cleavage!

lizzie9442 · 21/11/2009 08:12

morning all,

I have my swine flu jab in half and hour and I'm sooooo nervous. It felt like I had ages to make a decision and now its here. I hate injections aswel. I just want it over with xxxx

schipo · 21/11/2009 08:17

I'm definitely in the camp of people finding it hard to sleep. I keep waking up in the middle of the night and not going straight back to sleep.

I was just lying in bed this morning though, half asleep with my hands resting on my stomach, when I realised all of a sudden that my uterus had popped right up and something was rolling around in side it. I assume this is the baby! There was also what felt like tiny hands or feet waving around. I was quite surprised by his strength because he must still be tiny (15 weeks tomorrow) but I'm sure I wasn't dreaming. Very exciting. Quite made up for not being fully asleep.

schipo · 21/11/2009 08:19

cross posted - good luck lizzie - let us know how it goes.

alexw · 21/11/2009 08:43

Morning all. Just spent an age catching up on all news. Sorry to hear the sad and glad some are now enjoying things. Have been in maternity clothes for ages now - normally size 8-10 (am 16 weeks) but have only put on 2 pounds despite mountains of cheddars, crumpets and almost any food mentioned on here .Having an up and down time emotionally due to several factors Was wondering if any of you live close by as it would be good to know some people nearby with LOs on the way. Am in N London (Harrow) . [hopeful emotion]

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 21/11/2009 09:58

booboomonster - your "pregnant and likely to overreact" badge made me laugh, I think I need one of those! up until now I've been quite serene and then the past week I've been a tearful resentful mess! If I'm not crying after sex I'm crying at things on tv, and then yesterday I shouted at dp because I was hungry (because he got up at lunchtime and used the last of the bread instead of having cereal, so I had to get more bread before I could make lunch for ds and I) I turn into a snarling beast when I'm hungry these days!

Memorylapse, good that you felt a couple of prods, let us know how you get on with the doppler later. I'm jealous of all you ladies going to concerts, I've never been to one!

It'shappenedagain, sorry you're having bleeding, have they said what they think is causing it? as you said though, if they haven't scanned you or even listened in they obviously don't think there's anything to worry about. Hope it stops soon regardless.

Pamelat, do be careful about overdoing it, it's so easy to pull something when everything's softening and relaxing! I have to be really careful picking ds up, he's incredibly heavy (not fat just utterly solid!) he probably weighs just under 3 stone and I really can't carry him any distance.

Oh well, got tonnes of housework to do today (and no bloody motivation!) better get on with it!

pamelat · 21/11/2009 12:58

Hello all, am a bit worried (nothing serious) as at 15 weeks I have put a stone on!! I am usually just under 9 stone and now 9stone 9 lbs. I think its only on my tummy but have been in maternity clothes (second baby) for 3 weeks

I think its because I have swapped spin classes for yoga! And maybe the odd curry

I know its really not important in the general scheme of things but worrying when I hear you walking of 2lb and half a stone weight gains!

memorylapse · 21/11/2009 14:08

Hello ladies

Kasabian were amazing last night..loved every minute of it we did have seats but basically everyone stood when the band came on..so last night my pelvis ached something chronic..feel like an old wreck..Hotel was lovely but slightly spoilt by the idiots who ran up and down the hotel corridor between midnight and 4 am, so subsequently Im shattered today.
Tried to pick up HB this morning and failed miserably..got myself in a right state and ended up phoning MW..who found it after about 10 seconds..seems baby had scurried off lower down again and was hiding..probably an hour and a half of thumping music last night that did it!
