omg just had a horrible shock..got in from work and DD said she was going out to play and went off to get her shoes out of the shoe cupboard which is a tall thin cupboard bolted to the wall in the utility room and next min heard an almighty crash and DD screaming, ran into the utily room and the cupboard had come away from the wall and landed ontop of DD..I yelled to DH and he ignored me! so without thinking, lifted said cupboard off DD , which was full of shoes, then DH came as he heard DD screaming...It looks like the stupid cupboard had been overloaded with shoes..DD is fine, more shocked than anything else, although it did hit her head, but I feel really shocked and ive pulled all the muscles in my back and tummy lifting the cupboard...DD seems fine now but am going to watch her this evening..just in case

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 15/11/2009 18:36

Welcome Booboo and Mishy!

Sorry for all those who suffer from SPD, it sounds horrible

Hollyoaks - that's fab news about your DN, how exciting!

I don't dye my hair, but I've read that it's not really a problem.

Memorylapse - OMG, hope you and your DD are OK, that must have been a horrible shock!

We took DD to the House of Marbles where there was a full size singing Christmas tree She was absolutely spellbound - she'll get a shock when our (non-singing) Christmas tree goes up

suey2 · 15/11/2009 19:47

Welcome booboo and mishy!
Congrats hollyoaks: seeing a new baby makes it all very real, eh?
Ml you really are not having a great time of it, you poor thing! Hope dd isn't too upset and did you find a HB?

Lazy day today, nothing to report.

memorylapse · 15/11/2009 20:16

forgot to say welcome and congrats to all newbies

Hollyoaks thats lovely news about your DN..she must be soo tiny bless her.

DD seems fine now..she has got a bump on her head bless her but she seems ok..Think it was more the shock..shes only tiny and the cupboard was rather heavy.. DH has now removed it to the garage.

Suey..havent checked for the HB yet..might wait until tomorrow..then if I dont find anything I can at least ring my MW

newmomma · 15/11/2009 20:46

hi ladies, anyone around...? i could do with some words of reassurance.

what a crappy weekend; i spent yesterday evening in hospital with bleeding and cramping and am having to wait until tomorrow to have a scan to find out whats going on. thankfully the bleeding has stopped but the pain hasn't gone away and i'm feeling fairly negative about things. i never had any bleeding whatsoever with my first and i just am not holding out much hope.

i almost don't want to go to bed tonight as i'm not sure i want tomorrow to come around.

i can't believe we've only just told everybody about this pregnancy to have this happen. the doc at the hospital said i'd be very unlucky to have any problems in the middle trimester but problems still do happen don't they?

anyway - i'll let you know how things pan out tomorrow.

MoggMum · 15/11/2009 21:02

Hi all and welcome booboo and Mishy

Had my first (ever) trip to mothercare today and found myself going all gooey over cots and cuddly toys . Found the selection of prams & pushchairs mind boggling though . Will have to do some serious research first. Not buying anthing until next year though and it did feel like I shouldn't really be looking without a suitably large baby bump!

MoggMum · 15/11/2009 21:09

Oh newmomma sorry I cross posted with you. Really hope you have some good news tomorrow x

suey2 · 15/11/2009 21:12

newmomma poor you . Please don't think the worst: so many people seem to have a bout of this and come out ok: it happened to my mate 2 weeks ago and everything was absolutely fine. What a shame they couldn't scan you today.

mollybob · 15/11/2009 21:18

Oh newmomma - how scary
I had bleeding with DD and she was fine - it can be absolutely nothing
good luck for tomorrow

schipo · 15/11/2009 21:19

newmomma, so sorry to hear about your weekend all i can say don't lose all hope. Put your feet up or something and hold on. A lot of people seem to have episodes of bleeding and come out the other side ok. Wishing you lots of luck for tomorrow..

moggmum, know exactly what you mean. I went into a mamas and papas shop and felt like I didn't have a big enough bump to get away with looking at prams for long. Also, didn't find any maternity jeans I could face buying

hollyoaks - i'm quite jealous of your meeting with your niece. A friend of mine had a baby last weekend and I can't wait to go and visit. I'll have to restrain myself from asking too many questions.

memorylapse · 15/11/2009 21:26

newmomma..it doesnt always mean the worst.I know its easier said than done..but try not to panic

napa · 15/11/2009 21:27

well just wrote a long message and lost it, so here we go again (a shortened version anyway), hope i don't forget any of it!!

swwetkitty - thanks for the info, have seen physio at work and an osteopath friend of mine and have had it before, even between pregnancies

hollyoaks - exciting news about your niece

hello to booboo and mishy

newmomma - hope you get good news tomorrow

hope everyone else is ok

TomlinTowers · 15/11/2009 21:56

Hi All

Welcome to booboo and mishy

Hollyoaks - glad to hear about your niece, it can be scary when they are so small but if she is home and feeding then she is obviously doing really well.

Newmomma - fingers crossed for you tomorrow.

Memorylapse - wow that sounds scary, I'm glad your DD is OK.

SK - any time you want to talk about names, I am here! We have already decided ours - Sophie Mae for a girl, Jack William for a boy. We couldn't think of a girl's name when we had DS1 so quite surprised we have decided on names so easily this time.

Two other things - underwired bras - I wore them up to 20-odd weeks last time and then couldn't bear them any longer. I did invest in some good quality maternity bra/nursing bras though to avoid the monoboob look someone mentioned earlier. And hair dye - I didn't last time but then hated my hair so much that I got it dyed when DS1 was 4 weeks old. So, I am going to continue highlighting this time. The dye doesn't get on my scalp anyway so hopefully there are less risks.

Have finally finished washing and ironing my old maternity clothes - have two rails full didn't realise I had so many! However am sort of scared by the sight of them, so have now hidden them in the back room until I am desperate.

Hope everyone else is OK - James, nice to see you back. We are definitely meant to be due date twins - they moved my EDD to 14th May too!

cupcakefairy · 15/11/2009 22:38

Evening girls..
newmomma really hope you're ok..I know it is agonising waiting for scans after bleeding so hope you getsome decent sleep tonight. As others have said, a lot of women bleed in pregnancy and it turns out to be nothing. Do update us tomorrow.

hollyoaks that is so precious about your tiny niece! I met a tiny baby in church this morning called Cherish! How gorgeous is that...made me go all gooey.

We haven't really discussed names properly yet and I don't want to decide fully until we actually meet our lo.. hopefully get it down to a choice of 2 for either sex then see what s/he looks like. I think we've decided we won't find out the flavour.

Lol, dh was looking at my pregnancy book earlier and I think he was a bit shocked by the graphic pics of people giving birth! Oh dear... (actually I'm a bit scared by the pics too as the poor women's faces look in AGONY... why am I doing this again??)

booboomonster · 15/11/2009 23:08

Thanks for welcomes!

Good luck newmomma, thinking of you - as others have said, it isn't necessarily bad news so try and get a good nights sleep. For what it's worth, I bled first time around at 9 wks and it was ok.

Off to bed now, is anyone else finding it hard to sleep? (apart from when I can't cos am looking after dd when seem to b ready to drop in a second) I don't recall this last time. Sleep well all!

LuckyC · 16/11/2009 09:46

Hi all. Have not posted for a while as been feeling a bit blue - it's winter, I get SAD. Have not wanted to bore you all with my tales of blahness.

Boobs - I went up a cup size in the early weeks and nothing since. But nipples have grown alarmingly! Feel very heifer-like.

Welcome back, Forces! I am too scared to weigh myself but will do so today and report back. I have been making really big efforts to eat properly. And still failing.

Hollyoaks, sorry about the MS - sounds like you have been having a rough rough time. Now mine has pretty much completely gone, I have forgotten how grindingly awful it is. Are your meds working? How are you feeling?

Pamelat! God! Sounds very worrying. Get checked out.

James and Angel - congrats on scans! Oh, and Stokey, too.

Hobnob, I am not sure about dye, but think I read something about you have to be careful?? So that's no use then - sorry! QUESTION I read the same about hair remover but I am still using it. Have used it twice in miniscule amounts for five mins. On my 'tache, which is revoltingly luxuriant at the moment. Is this is OK? Anyone know different?

Suey, I am really sorry to hear your news. Really thinking about you. Good luck with the follow-up tests. Please remember that as Schipo says at the moment the odds are still good for you.

Hi booboo and mishy. newmomma How are things going?

memory is this a tall thin Ikea shoe cupboard? Because that also happened to someone else I know - we got it from her on freecycle and she told us the story. BLOODY dangerous.

Got confused - who has SPD this time round?

LolaAnn · 16/11/2009 09:55

Let us know newmomma all our thoughts are with you.

I'm over 13 weeks and think I have acquired that magical second trimester thing. My skin seems to have cleared up (probably speaking to soon) and I feel full of energy. Although come the end of the day I am out like a light.

I still have no job. If anyone knows of any development or IT support roles going, let me know! Heck even receptionist

I've been wondering about the hair thing, I don't know where to go to get my hair done over here anyway so I will just leave my highlights as long as I can. My regrowth is very minimal and seems to be lighter anyway so will last a bit longer...

I've put on a bit too much weight I think, not that I have weighed myself but my jeans are very tight. Need to have a good week this week.

Hollyoaks · 16/11/2009 10:26

ML hope your dd is ok this morning, scary. Hope you haven't hurt yourself too much too. Take it easy today if possible.

newmomma good luck for the scan today, hope you get good news, my fingers are crossed. Let us know how you get on.

luckyc still feeling sick, havent took the meds as gp scared me a little. The hospital dr prescribed them after my 12 week scan as I had to see a member of the consultant team. I then had to take her letter back to my gp who wrote out the prescription which goes to the pharmacy. When i went to pick up the prescription from the gp later that day he took me into his room as the hospital had prescribed the wrong dose, 5 times too high! The gp was very angry but did say that I should only use the meds if really poorly and to try and avoid any meds in the first 16 weeks. So to cut a long story short, I've got them but now not sure whether to use them.

pigleychez · 16/11/2009 10:27

Hello all.

14 weeks tomorrow here and feeling huge already. First thing in the morning when im laying in bed on my back you can really feel my uterus. Its rock hard and you can obviously feel its outline. It freaks DH out abit.

Welcome to Boo and Mishy.

Suey- Hope the test goes well and agree with the others that its still good odds.

Schipo- Yay for the postitive looking results.

Carikube- My DH is fab in the kitchen and usually makes us a lovely roast most sundays

ML- Hope DD is ok today. Hows Scary.

Newmomma- Hope the scan goes ok today. I have had friends who have bled on and off throughout the pregnancy and baby has been fine but i can understand your worries.

Mogg- I spent many a day/evening stressing/Crying over prams! I even made DH drive me to a huge Mothercare miles away a couple of times as my local one didnt have that many to try out.

SK- Not the SPD again
re names- We have been chatting about names. Boys we have from DD but DD took our girls name. We both like Holly but our surname begins with H too so not sure if it would sound odd or not.?

Lucky- Sorry no idea about the hair remover.

re boobs- I take DD to swimming lessons (underwater) and we had photos taken under the water the other week. I recieved the photos and was horrified!! I had to crop one photo as the first thing you saw was my huge boobs popping out the top of my costume!!

JamesAndTheGiantBanana · 16/11/2009 11:17

Hello folks, hope you're all doing ok.

Newmomma, I have my fingers crossed for you, a few of us had bleeding in the first trimester which turned out to be nothing, so hopefully it's the same for you, even though it's a bit later on.

memorylapse, glad your dd is ok, you don't need extra stress right now! Are you still suffering with your hyperemesis?

forces, hope you don't get spd so badly this time round. As I said once before, I'm like you were before the op so expecting to get it again pretty bad towards the end with the extra weight aggravating things, although it's holding off so far unless I do something silly like walk on my knees or squat down for too long, then I feel it the next day. ouch.

Suey2, so sorry to hear your news, I hope you'll be one of the 179 whose baby is absolutely fine! The waiting must be horrible though, poor you.

Hollyoaks, I bet it was a little scary holding such a tiny baby! So cute though. Glad she is out of hospital and thriving.

Washersaurus, where are you? Hope all is well.

Congratulations on the positive scans, I love seeing your scan pics, they're so sweet.

Nothing much to report here other than being constantly starving and I feel like I may be coming to the end with some of my normal clothes (no coincidence there, probably!)

memorylapse · 16/11/2009 11:19

Hollyoaks..what anti emetics do you have?/ I was prescribed cyclizine..I tried to only take them if I was really bad, ie even water was coming up...because I was worried too, but I know lots of people who have taken anti emetics and their babies have been fine.

Lucky C..strangely enough yes it was the Ikea one..well I think its the same one..this is a beech effect one..problem with it I think is that it gets top heavy as the kids had been shoving all their shoes in the top.

re underwired bras..Im still wearing mine as Im a busty lady and cant bear the thought of a shapeless maternity bra..but I guess I cant wear them forever..

I dye my hair too.If you look on my profile there is a pic of me and DD1, my hair is red and Ive been dying it for over 20 years..but havent dyed it yet this pregnancy. My hairdresser who is 24 weeks preg, said best to avoid in the first trimester although theres no proof that its not a good idea, and then has recommended semi permanents and highlights rather than permanaents

I listened in to baby this morning, my HB was galloping too! so I can see how people can confuce them, but the maternal HB sounds whoosy..for want of a better word..found baby tucked away quite low down
Im 16 weeks tomorrow..my next goal is 17 weeks

memorylapse · 16/11/2009 11:22

sorry James x posts with you..the severe hyperemesis went at about 11-12 weeks but I still feel sick and certain smells bother me..this ios usual for me I will not lose the nausea completely but its bearable now and not interefering with life

memorylapse · 16/11/2009 11:25

forgot to add that Im the same now re food..I could eat my way through the contents of my fridge and freezer at the mo..last night DH made a big roast dinner..I wolfed the lot must to DH'S shock..it marely touched the sides..but Im still less than I was before becoming preg because I lost due to sickness and Im now following a low fat, low sugar diet. I have discovered that fruit yoghurts send the blood sugar soaring so they are off the menu

LotusPalm · 16/11/2009 12:12

Suey - so sorry to hear about the higher risk. If its any consolation, my hospital wont even offer additional intervention unless the risk is 1:200 so you're still near the border point. I know easier said than done, but can you keep yourself busy over hte next 2 weeks? Treat yourselves to a weekend away or something? I hope that it goes by quickly for you..

Well done to others with scans, and i hope everyone else is OK.

If anyone has recommendation for non-ugle, 2 boob making maternity bras then i am all ears! I gave up and hit figleaves on friday and have a wealth of enourmous, but pretty bras on their way to me as we speak. If just one of them fits properly, is comfortable and makes me feel something less of a milking cow then i will be happy.

Spent the weekend with my sis and her 3 kids - DH is such an angel, he asically disappears for the whole time as he is keeping the little ones entertained so that we can talk. He will be a much better mother than i am! She has said she wants to buy us a baby carrier / sling for the birth and i am edging towards the Moby D - does anyone on here have any knowledge of any of these? My back / hips aren't great so i dont do well with back pack type affiars and the Moby seems to get good reviews. Also looking at the MIYO baby hammock - not sure if this is a good idea, but i love them!

And then reality kicks in and i realise that this is far too early to be thinking about any of this!

30ish · 16/11/2009 12:16

Booboomonster i too am having trouble sleeping! I didn't have any problem with DD! I wake up at stupid times and then can't get back to sleep! So tired!

On the topic of names - we decided really easily this time although there is no doubt that we will change our minds! Lily Su for a girl (after my Mum) and Oliver James for a boy (after my Grandad)!

Cupcakefairy I often think why am I doing this again! Will be worth it in the end!
