Hello all.
Scan was ace: the baby kept moving around which was seriously cool! Have to wait until tomorrow for the results of the combined test.
I had a slightly raised glucose, so will have to lay off the chocolate and simple carbs.

Hope everyone else is well. I'm now 12+5 and not yet feeling the second trimester 'glow' but I am looking forward to it!

memorylapse · 11/11/2009 20:16

Sarahlou..no I wouldnt avoid sugar...but its not a good idea to go overboard and that counts for anyone..so no eating an entire packet of jam tarts!

Ive just come back from a private scan and the sonographer could not see the clot..she looked and looked and said either it had reabsorbed or was so small it simply wasnt showing.
Baby has now got that lovely profile with the cute snub nose..Took DD along and she was blown away..thought DH was going to cry!
Baby was merrily sucking its thumb and looked quite chilled, she checked the blood flow through the placenta and it all looked ok. She didnt half press hard though..my tummy feels quite sore, she apologised and said she needed to..I know what she meant..sorry your tummy is quite fat ..Ive got a bit of a spare tyre so I guess now that my womb is higher..she had to press through the flab..oh the shame

Hello,

So nice hearing about all the lovely scans

Re-Gestational Diabetes. With DD I consistantly had sugar in my urine and was sent for the glucose test. Came back fine.
This time at my booking in the midwife picked up on it and has said she will monitor me closely this time, especially as my Dad has been diagnosed with Diabetes since I had DD. I had a random blood sugar level test taken along with my booking in bloods. Have yet to hear any results. Midwife said if its high then ill be sent for the glucose test sooner than the normal 28 weeks.
Just hoping im not going to be diagnosed with GD this time.

Re- NCT. I didnt do NCT classes with DD. Just the normal NHS ones. I have however made some lovely friends by going along to the local NCT mother and toddler group. You dont have to be a member to go.

13 weeks here today. Feels so strange telling people im pregnant again.

pigleychez · 11/11/2009 21:08

quick question...

How quickly did you all get your blood test results through. I had them the same time as the booking in appointment at 10 weeks. Im now 13 weeks. Im guessing no news is good news?

memorylapse · 11/11/2009 21:29

Pigley..if you havent heard anything, then thats good news..your blood results will usually be attached into your notes at your next appt

sweetkitty · 11/11/2009 22:51

memorylapse - great news about the clot, my friend I was talking about that had had some bleeding and was having a scan yesterday well she has a clot as well next to the baby they aren't that worried about it and are scanning her in the next 2 weeks to be sure. Bummer about the GD though

Had physio last twice for the SPD, last time she told me there was nothing more she could do, everything she tried to fix it, my ligaments were that soft they sprang back or something, basically there's nothing we can do until you deliver.

Suey - great news about your scan, I am still waiting on my second trimester glow from the first one, you should see the state of my skin

welcome cafuffle

off to bed now will catch up better tomorrow x

brightredballoon · 11/11/2009 23:03

Hi everyone

Suey congratulations on the scan, glad it all went well.

Pigeychez agree with ML, your results will probably be in your notes at your next appointment and I am sure you would have heard by now if there was anything they wanted to discuss with you urgently. I was surprised this time round I got a letter confirming my results as I had never had that before (but I am at a different hospital this time).

I am 15+4 today, not experiencing the 2nd tri glow either, in fact I have a sore throat and a muzzy head and feeling all confused as I turned down the swine flu vaccine today. I just dont feel confident in having the vaccine but I might reconsider in a couple of weeks, hopefully then it wont feel so new and fresh and like we are guinea pigs! The European Vacines Website has the medical documents on each vaccine here

I also just realised that I will most probably be delivering in April as I am going for an elective section (wont get a date for it until I am 32wks) and since I am due 1st May which is a Saturday I can't imagine they schedule elective sections on a weekend?

Has anyone else been looking at the calendar and working out maternity leave?! With my first child I worked up until 2 wks before my due date, with my second I was signed off work for about 8wks before then birth, just trying to work out a nice balance between enough time beforehand (I'm not the type to get bored at home waiting!) and saving enough leave for when the baby is here. What are everyone elses thoughts?

Carikube · 12/11/2009 08:26

BRB - all I'm working out on the mat leave front is when my current one ends (after I've taken my annual leave) so that my next one can start as I'm taking back-to-back ones...

MoggMum · 12/11/2009 08:58

All being well I will start my maternity leave on 1st May as I'm not due until 16th, hopefully that'll give me a couple of weeks to prepare for the new arrival. Probably only going to take 4 months before returning to work so need to maximise time after the birth. I'd love to take 6 months but can't see how we'll survive on statutory maternity pay!

AnAngelWithin · 12/11/2009 10:10

morning all. How are you? feelin so tired today. I was feeling better for a few days. Bleurgh. Scan tomorrow. So so so so so nervous!!!

welcome to cafuffle

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 12/11/2009 11:56

Pigley - they told me I'd get the results quickly, but that if I didn't get them, it meant there was nothing wrong and not to worry.

I stopped work at about 34 weeks last time (I had a lot of holiday to use up) and that was fine. Given my job is only 12 hours a month, I'll probably "work" as long as I can this time. I don't get any maternity pay anyway, although I hope I'm entitled to some time off.

Memorylapse - fantastic news about your scan, I'm so happy for you

pamelat · 12/11/2009 12:37

Crikey, some of you stay up late! Not sure I have seen past 10pm for a while. I was torn between bed or spooks last night but spooks (just) won.

I have my second scan date!!! Its much earlier than I expected, what with all the delays with the first one. Its 23 Dec so fingers crossed as either way the results are definately going to affect Christmas.

I find it scarey that before Christmas (!) I will also (hopefully) know whether I am having another girl, or a boy. I initially thought boy but have changed my mind since the scan (silly really, its that nub theory thing but no real accuracy to it!)

suey2 · 12/11/2009 12:38

Re stopping work- my bump started getting in the way at about 7 months last time although i continued to run the business. I started having to go into work 2 weeks after DD was born and started seeing patients when she was 4 months old. I'm also only entitled to MA but, I started a £20 per month savings plan 20 years ago which finishes next feb: so i should be in for a nice wedge of about £6K! which should certainly help keep the business afloat whilst i'm away.

pamelat · 12/11/2009 12:54

Being due 12 May, I hope to work up until end of April.

Last time I stopped on Christmas Eve (and took some holiday before Maternity leave) when DD was due Jan 15.

sweetkitty · 12/11/2009 13:18

Maternity leave - well I think I am still on mat leave from the first one 5 years ago, what happened was I stopped at 36 odd weeks, so stopped on the Friday and had her on the Tuesday morning, so much for all my sitting about eating and watching TV. I was still on annual leave as well as tagged 3 weeks on before my mat leave started officially.

Was supposed to go back after 6 months but as it got closer just couldn't face leaving her so extended it to 12 months. Then we decided that we wanted to move back to Scotland and I could become a SAHM and also meant we could get a bigger house on one salary. Luckily there was a reshuffle at work and my very kind boss made me redundant whilst on mat leave (he knew I wasn't coming back) so I got to keep all my extended mat leave and a nice redundancy payment. Means career is in tatters but try not to think about it too much, have just kept on having babies in the meantime

Hobnobfanatic · 12/11/2009 13:42

Pamelat - I share your excitement about finding out the sex. I didn't want to know with DD1, but this time round I do. I keep dreaming that i meet my baby - and it's always a beautiful little girl (aged about 8 months!), sitting up, cheeky face, soft, brown curls... Ahhh. I've always wanted two girls, but I really dont mind now - wHen I wake up, I feel sad that I won't have a son! If I dreamed of a boy, I know I'd feel sad at not having two girls! And I really couldn't face another pregnancy, so two more isn't an optioN!

pigleychez · 12/11/2009 14:36

Thanks for the replys about the blood tests. Funnily enough they have just turned up in the post! All fine and normal. Especially about the Random blood sugar level test - for now anyway lol.

We have decided not to find out the sex this time either. We didnt with DD and loved having that suprise.

Dont need to worry about maternity leave this time as I decided not to go back after DD was born. Im now a SAHM. With DD I used all my anual leave so actually left work 8 weeks before my due date. Had a fab time catching up with all my friends with thier children. DD was then 2 weeks late so 10 weeks seemed like a lifetime!!

TwentiethCenturyHeffa · 12/11/2009 15:41

Glad to hear that Pigley

My 20 week scan is on 30th December so we'll know in time for New Year DH wants to know the sex because it really helped him bond with DD. I'm hoping for another DD really, but I'll be happy either way I'm sure.

AnAngelWithin · 12/11/2009 17:13

who else was having their scan tomorrow? i can't see for looking!!

memorylapse · 12/11/2009 18:12

Ive been told that I wont get a scan until 21-22 weeks so it will be Jan before I get my appt

Im self employed and the nature of my work means once I have a big bump I wont be able to work so will kepo the business ticking over putting other staff in the bookings

30ish · 12/11/2009 18:39

I only had four onths off on maternity leave wth DD1 (3yrs) and i really wasn't ready to go back! I'm planning on going back to work after Christmas. This should also save us a small fortune as we will be paying two lots of nursery fees until DD1 starts school in September 2011! Seems like such a long time away! I am secretly hoping for another DD, but (much to my annoyance) everyone I have told keeps asking me if i'm hoping for a boy! It's as though havng two daughters is some sort of booby prize and everyone should want a son and a daughter! Having my second scan on the 28th December. Can't wait to find out!

mollybob · 12/11/2009 20:06

I have already a DS and a DD and not bothered at all about which this is. Not sure I'll find out at all as not protocol in the hospital to look for or disclose gender. Nice surprise I guess.

Grumpy again today as sickness back with a vengeance after I thought it was on its way out.

LotusPalm · 13/11/2009 10:20

Morning All,

for all the scans and good test results

for all news of GP's and gestational diabetes. ML - is it quite early to be diagnosed?

Has anyone elses' boobs grown a ridiculous amount? I'm 15+2 and they show no sings of stopping. I've already gone up 3 cup sizes and I wasn't that small to begin with (32D)! Please tell me they will stop soon - at least until milk comes in - and that they will one day go back to a handleable amount. I mean seriously, anymore than a handfull is getting silly and mine are at 2 already, and DH has big hands .

It's really starting to bother me!

LittleOneMum · 13/11/2009 10:22

lotus - yes, boobs growing no end here too. Mind you, I was an A cup before so I (and DH) am not complaining! it is weird though - suddenly I have cleavage...

suey2 · 13/11/2009 10:28

lotus i found mine grew loads to begin with, then nothing until the last few weeks. I started a 32F and ended a 32L. (yes, really) However, by the end your bump will be a great camouflage so this is definitely the most buxom phase imo. I'm already a 32H this time round.
