Shop brought mayo is fine, because they make it with pasturised egg. Fresh mayo made with uncooked eggs so is a small salmonella risk, worth asking if you are in a resturant.

hey all,
welcome newcomers!
willitbe I'm so sorry to hear our news. best of luck for healing and the future.
to all giver-upers - I am on day 14 of no cigs. IT DOES GET EASIER!!!!
I used to have the occasional drag throughout my last pregnancy - if I was at a very late party or in a club and felt too sorry for myself not being able to be drunk/high like everyone else and I also had a whole one for pain relief in labour (like you secondcoming - didn't have owt else and I swear it dilated me about 5 cm in about 2 minutes! )
anyway my point is that as someone who spent the whole first year of DS's life actually despising myself every time he got a snuffle or cold because I'd smoked, I'd recommend sticking at it.. IT's hard as nails but you will feel so much better about yourself in the long run. and you can always promise yourself a malboro red in labour as a reward
hope everyone's feeling good. am sooooo much happier at the moment. MS is here but feeling strangely comforted by its presence. have seen doc and midwife now. all is good, got scan booked for 16th Dec. seems to be moving very fast! keep accidentally telling people (well, they keep guessing because I'm not stuck into the wine )
happy sunday to all!!!

Would you mind if I joined please? Got BFP a couple of days ago... baby #1, due July 22nd.

Has anyone else been feeling tummy cramps/pains? Have been having them for last week or so and initially thought AF was on the way... then thought I'd test anyway Think I'm just worrying as it's so early on. No other symptoms apart from the occassional wave of nausea.

Also, I gave up smoking a few months ago using the Alan Carr book. It really does work!

SonSon · 15/11/2009 17:34

Hi everyone,

another one for July 16th here, my third as well.Have added myself, thesecondcoming and winnie78 to the list.

TishTosh21 · 15/11/2009 17:46

hi can you please add me to the list, due on 15th July from Kent, #1.

Thanks

WinterMadness · 15/11/2009 18:04

Ah thanks darydork, will try to stay positive

kittykat77 · 15/11/2009 18:06

Evening everyone. Anybody else finding it really hard to keep things quiet?

Had some friends round this afternoon and they were all talking about doing a joint buy of some wine/ drinks ect for the festive season. Obviously I couldn't really say alot on this subject, and am just wondering once the party season gets going how I will stop everyone from guessing - the minute they realise i'm not drinking I think I will be found out...!

Wonderstuff · 15/11/2009 18:18

Last time all my mates guessed within days of me getting a bfp, because I wasn't drinking and it wasn't even Christmas.
This time I'm such a boring fart I reckon it will be quite easy. TBH if close friends know I'm not worried, if the worse happens then I'll want them to know. I just don't really want work to know, though last time some of the kids I taught guessed because I was so preoccupied with my tummy. Some of the boys didn't even notice when I was the size of a house and in maternity clothes - saw one I was out with newborn dd - he said you kept that quiet! I was so massive

TishTosh21 · 15/11/2009 19:02

have only told 2 close friends as i dont mind them knowing and will tell MIL soon as she was so excited when we told her we were trying she wanted to know as soon as.

Telling my own parents will be a different story though, am dreading it.

BettyButterknife · 15/11/2009 19:04

I'm finding it really hard not spilling the beans! Just feel like this is the first and last thing on my mind, and everything relates to it, all conversations etc.

Been to a christening today and at the do afterwards the wine was flowing. I poured myself an elderflower in a wine glass which sort of looked the part(-ish), and said I was driving so couldn't drink. Still wonder whether anyone suspected anything...

WinterMadness I feel really worried about going through all this again too. I have a monster fibroid which is about 12cm diameter when not pregnant and grew to 20cm when I was pregnant last time! I was ENORMOUS. And I'm not so concerned about the labour but terrified about having to stay in hospital afterwards, as I was in for a week with DS who had pneumonia. It was a horrible experience and one I'm so scared of repeating (although I'm sure the likelihood is remote). I'll talk it all through with the midwife, though, and see what she says.

We're all in it together, though, eh? Really glad to have found you all

Irishfairy · 15/11/2009 19:09

Hi everyone hope you have all been enjoying the weekend... hi to all the newcomers too and congratulations!

I've not been well all weekend and just found out my boss has swine flu Before I found out about her I was worried earlier in the day that I had it but I don't have a temperature, I have all the other symptoms though.

I'm a nanny and it is the mum who has swine flu. She will obviously be home tomorrow and the dad just called me to say he needs me to come in in the morning to take the son to school. I am freaking out a bit now in case I don't have it and catch it from her.
They obviously don't know that I'm pregnant yet but even if I wasn't they shouldn't be asking me to go in should they? I also have asthma am quite wheezy at the moment so the last thing I want is for it to get worse.

Not to mention I am feeling very rough myself today, have been in bed most of the day and was contemplating calling in sick if I wasn't any better.

Sorry for the moan, just feeling horrible and now worried that I might catch swine flu on top of everything

Wonderstuff · 15/11/2009 19:21

Poor you Irishfairy. Hope you are feeling better soon.

Now this is going to sound odd, but I can feel something that feels like kicking, obviously unless I have really got my dates wrong it can't possibly be. Is in the same place, a few cenimeters under my rib cage - could be a muscle spasm? Could see it moving too. Very odd, can't wait till I can have a scan.

Wonderstuff · 15/11/2009 19:22

DH wonders if in fact I am having kittens instead

lazyemma · 15/11/2009 19:56

I'm not finding it at all hard to keep things quiet this time. I think it's partly because it's the second time around, so won't be as exciting news for everyone else, though it's just as exciting for us (perhaps even a bit more so, because I've got more of an idea of what to expect this time around, so there's not as much fear of the unknown).

But also because I'm half-expecting things to go wrong, so don't want to tell anyone if I can avoid it until I'm reassured on that front, which won't be for another few weeks yet.

I've been down in That London this weekend, to a gig at Brixton Academy. Quite hard going - had been on my feet all day previously and at the gig was jostled a lot by excitable beered up people, most of them seeming to be overweight men. My back was very sore by the end and felt a bit crampy too, but fine today and no spotting or anything.

Well done to those of you trying to stop smoking. You can do it!

As for cheeses, I go by the rule (made up by me) that if it is thoroughly cooked through I'll eat it, on the basis that high temperatures kill bacteria. So stilton in pasta sauce, baked camembert, tarts etc, I reckon are fine.

Wonderstuff · 15/11/2009 20:02

lazyemma you are right on the cheese front here Wish I'd worked this out last time. I love baked camembert.

grumpypumpkin · 15/11/2009 20:28

Has everyone totally given up alcohol? My GP said that I would be fine to have a couple of glasses of wine each week if I wanted to, as the evidence was pretty inconclusive and really applied to much much heavier drinking.
So I have had a few units over the weekend - glass of celebratory champagne and a glass of wine.

What do others think? Am feeling pretty guilty but also really enjoyed!!

lazyemma · 15/11/2009 20:47

cool, Wonderstuff! Good to know I'm not being totally renegade with my cheese-eating habits.

grumpypumpkin I did have the odd glass of wine last pregnancy but found that one was never enough, which was annoying because I couldn't have another. So this time I'm staying off the sauce entirely, just because it's easier.

Generally though I think it's up to individual women to make their own decisions in pregnancy, based on their own circumstances and the info they have available, and I wouldn't judge anyone for doing things differently to me.

Heated · 15/11/2009 20:58

Supersmell has arrived: loathe the smell of cooking fat in any way.

Still feel permanently stuffed to the gills.

Thanks lifeistooshort, I had a google of persephone, but the myhynobirthing website didn't seem to be working. Not sure if the address has changed or something.

Hello to everyone else, hope you're all ok.

IrishFairy that sounds awful. I don't think I would go in personally, and aren't they supposed to stay in isolation anyway?

I'm agonising over the swine flu jab atm, I'm asthmatic too and it's such a hard thing to decide about.

berberis · 15/11/2009 22:16

Hello everyone, please add me to the list! I'm due (I think) July 10th with #1

Although was planned was still a shock to see that cross in the window... Happy but apprehensive.

Firerise - that is so funny, I have had a twitch in my right eye for about a week. I thought maybe tiredness? It is quite difficult to control when it happens in public! Have a bit of sore throat and couple of mouth ulcers but apart from that feel good.

As for runny eggs, I keep forgetting about what foods I cannot eat so had the runniest egg this morning and then felt bad, so good to know it's not that bad. I did feel v sick afterwards, however. Apart from that, not many symptoms except very very tired, in fact this is far too late for me to be up, so goodnight everyone.
