so sorry willitbe

Spirael · 14/11/2009 09:27

I'm so sorry you're leaving us, willitbe. I hope everything works out better for you in the future!

Hopefully they'll get back to you soon firerise. It must be awful having to wait.

Not much to report here this morning. My chest still aches, but that's pretty much the only reliable symptom I've got, still! I took my last CBD test this morning and got a nice quick positive result followed by 2-3 weeks since conception, which sounds about right.

If the information is available, I'll be finding out the gender. I like being able to plan and prepare a bit better. This is hopefully going to be the first child born to anyone in my (immediate and broader) family for about 20 years, so there isn't much in the way of hand-me-down equipment available. So, I'll be having to get most things myself - though to be honest I'll probably get things unisex rather than focusing on the gender I believe I'm having. Even if I do find out the gender, I think I'll be keeping it secret between DH and I... And MN of course.

I'm currently debating whether or not to have an early scan done privately, if I can't persuade the MW to let me have an early one. Reason being partially to put my mind at ease after the MC, and also because if I get a scan done at 9 weeks then it'll be just before Christmas and I can show the scan pic to the various eager relatives when I see them over the holidays.

Wonderstuff · 14/11/2009 09:58

I'm so sorry willitbe

Wonderstuff · 14/11/2009 10:13

I have decided I'm going to eat runny eggs this time and I don't care
Seriously has anyone heard of anyone getting salmonella from eggs since Edwina Currie fucked up?

Firerise · 14/11/2009 10:31

willitbe, I am really sorry for your loss. I hope you being well looked after and that things start to look up soon x

I have now heard from the hospital this morning after a sleepless night of hyperventilating. My hcg has risen from 93 to 153 so hasn't doubled like it should have but it's positive it is going in the right direction. Having more bloods tomorrow and if that one has doubled another scan in 10 days to double check our bean is where it should be! More waiting!

Hello to all the new people [waves].

So glad to be on this bus with you all, don't know what I would have done without all of your support. X

TishTosh21 · 14/11/2009 10:32

Hello everybody, i got a BFP on tues its my first DC and ive got some irrational fear that something awful is going to happen. Is this just me or does anyone else feel that way?

Hate to admit it but am also trying to give up smoking now and finding it quite hard- anyone else brave enough to admit they are too?

dont be angry with me MNtrs, im doing the best i can i want to be healthy for my baby.

darydork · 14/11/2009 11:10

hi tishtosh, congratulations on your bfp

its very natural to feel some fear that something mite go wrong, this is my 4th and i still feel that way in the early stages especially, try to relax it will pass.

I can totally relate with you on the smoking, i got my bfp on monday morning and i smoked my last ciggie tues nite, this is my 4th day without having one & i am climbing the walls, im using NiQuitin patches (on my docs approval) which are really helping and im sucking sweets for ireland, im here if you want a quit buddy!!

Wonderstuff · 14/11/2009 11:11

Glad you got +ve news Firerise, hope that has put your mind at ease a little and you can rest today.

Congrats TishTosh21 - Good luck with the smoking.

Wonderstuff · 14/11/2009 11:19

Last time I lost my appetite, was so sick, this time I feel like I can eat through the sickness, I'm hoping this is a good sign.

I was so scared last time, but I feel much more relaxed (today at least) I feel like whatever happens I will deal with it all better than I have done before. Is horrid this first trimester though isn't it? Can't really plan, trying to not get too excited. I'm hoping it will go more quickly now I have dd to occupy me.
Must get round to looking at dates. I didn't note down when my period was last time

TishTosh21 · 14/11/2009 11:41

thanks darydork you've given me inspiration, i went for 4 days last month without a ciggie when we first started trying but then got made redundant and started again. I kept thinking it will be easy when i know im pregnant cos my maternal instincts will kick in but they havent yet!

ive got some smooth cigs as ive read on numerous health websites if you cant give up completely then at least cut down (which i have, i dont smoke at all at work now) and if you have to smoke then have less strong ones and i now only smoke half of a ciggie if ive got to have one at all.
My DP smokes though so its not very helpful when he says "im going outside for some fresh air"

I just keep thinking the first 12 weeks are the most important to the development and by smoking im really harming the poor thing

I havent been to see a doc yet as i thought they want to see you between 8 and 10 weeks and im only 6 and a half but will prob go next week sometime as i really want to kick the habit now.

darydork · 14/11/2009 12:08

i know exactly what you mean tishtosh about thinking the maternal instinct to quit will kick in straight away, unfortunatley it doesnt always work that way when you have an addiction, i always said if i cant give up when preg i never will..

On my last preg i took the cutting back approach with full intentions of quitting completely but im ashamed to say i never did, i had other stresses at the time but looking back i know it was just an excuse to justify it to myself, i now know that its all or nothing for me.. (really hoping i can stay strong its torture)

My DH smokes too and he is been very good not smoking in front of me etc but he is still popping out like you said for "sum fresh air" altho he says hes quitting too after the weekend..

Have you considered trying patches or gum they really do help, they release a lower amount of nicotine in to the blood allowing you to tackle the pysical side of the addiction 1st, my hope is after a couple of weeks i can stop using them and be stong enuf by then to tackle the nicotine withdrawal...

The last thing i want to do is lecture you but can i just say to you from past experience it really isnt worth it to continue on a reduced amount because you will be constanly feeling guilty & ashamed of yourself & trying to hide it from others, it really takes away from what should be a really exciting time..

GibbonInARibbon · 14/11/2009 13:14

So sorry willitbe to hear your news am thinking of you.

Firerise - glad it is positive news, must be a relief after a sleepness night

Read 'The Easy Way to stop smoking' I don't know anyone that has read that book and not stopped (myself included, who was a 30 a day smoker) 3 friends and a family member stopped after they were freaked at how enjoyable I found stopping

I stopped before trying for DD and never looked back and I used to think I would never ever be a non smoker.

GibbonInARibbon · 14/11/2009 13:22

Oh and wonderstuff - have to agree re the runny egg, since salmonellagate not been any problems I think? As long as they have the lion mark I would say OK

darydork · 14/11/2009 14:00

cheers gibbon, hope i have the same success as you did

YellowYoYo · 14/11/2009 14:36

Hi again,

Congratulations to everyone new to the list, and best wishes to those that have sadly had to leave.

I've got to see the nurse on Monday before I can be referred for a booking in with the midwife (not sure why).

Does anyone know/remember what is the earliest they can try to find the heart beat? I remember being sooooo relieved at that bit last time!

Despite agreeing to ignore it all until at least after Christmas my DH is already suggesting mad-cap names (and he's serious!)

TishTosh21 · 14/11/2009 15:17

hi darydork i know what you mean about feeling ashamed and guilty cos i do! the intention was to stop completely but its so hard, especially as i have no physical side effect of being pregnant, i really wish smoking made me physically sick to make me give up. i will go to docs this week and ask about quitting.

I always said i would give up when pregnant and im determined to stick to it. not smoking makes me feel tired, dizzy and just not with it but i know that feeling, for me, will only last a few days as it did last time, every day that went past it got that tiny bit easier, its just those initial first few days. Maybe willpower alone isnt enough anymore.

Did you see Gibbons post about the book she used to quit, sounds excellent, im going to pick it up later & hope it keeps me going cause im really hanging out for one at the mo

Good luck at your doc visit.

Wonderstuff · 14/11/2009 15:57

So how many weeks am I? Any clever sole fancy working it out?

Emster30 · 14/11/2009 16:07

I would second the recommendation for the Allen Carr book, I gave up back in July with it (though it was my 3rd attempt with the book, zillionth attempt overall!). I'm so glad I managed to quit well ahead of TTC and now I know I'll never smoke again. I just wish my husband would quit - he has cut right down to two or three a day. He has always said he'll stop when we have kids.

I second Wonderstuff about the runny eggs. I had my usual Saturday morning breakfast of poached eggs on toast today and normally I manage to overcook the eggs, but today I got them just lovely and runny (when I meant to overcook them!). The white was all solid though. They were really yummy and I refused to feel guilty - lots of people don't even know they're pg at the stage I'm at!

Wonderstuff, I'm 5 weeks tomorrow so you're probably a couple of days ahead of that, assuming you have a regularish cycle.
