Firerise, good luck, fingers crossed

Hello to the new people. Bit of a shock then, thesecondcoming?

Mousemole - 15-20 wks seems really late for a nuchal fold, I thought it could only be done between 12-14 weeks or something, to be accurate.

Spirael I'm a long way from Leeds/Bradford now but did go to uni in Leeds and stayed there afterwards, so spent about 7 years there, in the Hyde Park/Headingley area. Loved it, had a bit too much of a good time iykwim.

Definitely finding out the sex here. Too nosey to wait 40 wks when I only have to wait 20! For some reason I have a feeling it's a boy, didn't have a feeling at all with dd. Don't mind at all either way.

I think some hospitals in the UK no longer tell you the sex because of cases of people having late terminations when it turns out to be the "wrong" sex. That's what I've heard - or is it one of those urban myths?

Champagneforlunch · 13/11/2009 17:33

I don't plan on telling most people till after twelve weeks but doubt I'll last that long, so far have told my parents (but they need to know in case anything happens and I need them to look after the girls), also told my sister as I wanted the number for the epu and hoped she could find in and my mum told my auntie so she could buy it a panto ticket for next year. I'm just dreading peoples reactions due to Dd2 being so young but so far everyone has been really happy for us.
Hoping no one will notice the no drinking as i hardly go out at the moment anyway, will just have to take the car with me if i ever go anywhere nice.
I'm so tired now, went out for a walk to tire Dd1 out and it has worked for both of us not so sure about Dd2 though.

Thinking of you firerise xx

darydork · 13/11/2009 17:45

Evening all!
Congrats to the new recruits!
I am also gonna have an early scan privately. There is only one place near me so will book it next week.

I started a thread asking peoples advice about early scanning, most people said "go for it", a few said it's a waste of money as you can't see much.

A couple of people said I was a bit childish and silly as it is a medical proceedure, not be be used just because I am too excited to wait but I don't care, gonna have one anyway!!

Still no symptoms except I am starving ALL THE TIME!! and my tum is a bit bloated.

Thanks for all the no drinking excuses advice, will go for "stomach problems" and then start talking about poo if they push it!

Fire any news?

BettyButterknife · 13/11/2009 18:14

Another good no drinking excuse is to say you're really hungover and couldn't possibly face alcohol. Also works if you don't feel like eating much

I'm finding it so hard to keep this a secret. It's like everything I want to say in a conversation comes back to this and I have to think one step ahead to prevent my blabby mouth giving the game away. Am only 5 weeks! How am I going to last another 7??

CurlyCasper · 13/11/2009 18:45

thinking of you fire. hope all goes well.

SuziBhoy · 13/11/2009 19:22

hey everyone, hope you dont mind if i join in...

got my bfp last week, had an early scan on thurs (due to previous mc and ectopic). they dated me at 6 weeks and i saw the heartbeat, thats a first for me so it was amazing. this is a great place to talk about all of this, but cant wait until i can tell all.

GibbonInARibbon · 13/11/2009 19:34

Well hello secondcoming! congrats!
Welcome suzi and congrats

Just popped on to see if firerise had any news, sending positive thoughts.

mousemole · 13/11/2009 19:59

I'm Edinburgh so only one scan. In theory it should be by 12 weeks but as others as said, because they are so busy it often isn't until 15 weeks. It's a pain to have to pay but I am happy to be control of it IYSWIM. There is just no way I could wait till 15 weeks to know that everything is OK. Just had a very spicy and hot thai green curry and it has really helped the nauseau....for now. Happy weekends everyone

Firerise · 13/11/2009 20:24

They were meant to call by 7 but still not heard anything! Called them a minute ago and they are closed apart from an emergency number. I don't know what to do... Should I just wait until tomorrow? Going abit insane here now!

Heated · 13/11/2009 20:32

Oh, how frustrating Firerise. Hope someone can tell you tomorrow.

lifeistooshort · 13/11/2009 20:38

Firerise I would try the emergency number? It is so mean when the do that to you on a Friday night are you meant to spend you weekend in angst?

[Grin] at carrots husband putting CBD in the safe. Considering how expensive they are, that might be sensible

I went to the doctor surgery today to pick up my pre-registration pack.

Wonderstuff · 13/11/2009 20:39

Hello all. Got bfp today. Was a bit of a shock. No idea when I'm due, but think I'm about 4ish weeks gone, maybe 5. Felt quite sick today and really fancied fresh lemonade

So anyway this is pg number 3, number 1 was a mmc at 10 weeks, number 2 resulted in beautiful dd who has just turned 2.

WhatSheSaid · 13/11/2009 20:46

Hello WOnderstuff, glad you found us.

(My dd turned two last week too)

Heated · 13/11/2009 20:52

Apart from dh, the only other ppl who know I'm pg are you . Like last time, am going to wait and see if we get as far as the scan/bloods before we tell people, as I have few symptoms & never quite believe there is a baby there until I see it with my own eyes.

Let my father and the ILs know by sending them a scan photo and assumed word of mouth would do the rest. My father rang and said, "Is this what I think it is?"

ApuskiDusky · 13/11/2009 21:08

Evening! Really sorry to hear that they didn't call firerise, try hard not to worry. And welcome to those with new bfps!

So, I went to the acupuncturist this afternoon, and had a needle in each wrist and each shin, and so far, I'm feeling quite a lot better sickness-wise, but exhausted, so off to bed in a sec. I'll go back in the week and hopefully won't need to go again. She told me off for eating too much crap though, saying that it wasn't helping. I have to eat lots of cheese and apples apparently, which should work for me.

lifeistooshort · 13/11/2009 21:24

I forgot to welcome all the new joiners! Welcome

GhoulsAreLoud · 13/11/2009 21:46

Hello and congrats to all the newbies.

So sorry beaufies

Fire, I really hope you hear something soon.

Lifeistooshort - I want to pick your brains at hypnobirthing at some point. I really want to do it this time, have found someone who lives on the next estate who has just qualified. She can do private lessons at home in the evening which would get round us not having a babysitter for DD. It's Mongan Method and £300, does that sound about right? The only thing is she's only done 3 couples so far so doesn't have any testimonials at the moment.

Whereabouts did you do your course?

willitbe · 14/11/2009 00:06

Hi all, good to see more new faces joining here.

However I am no longer pregnant, I have finally miscarried. When someone next updates the list, perhaps the names of those of us who have miscarried could be either simply deleted or put to the bottom of the list to show we have gone. Sorry I don't have the heart to deal with the list right now myself.

Wishing the rest of you happy and healthy pregnancies.

babyboos · 14/11/2009 01:05

I am due 14th though went two weeks over with DS 2.5yrs old exactly

babyboos · 14/11/2009 01:06

WhatSheSaid · 14/11/2009 05:51

Sorry to hear about the miscarriage, willitbe.

violetbubbles · 14/11/2009 07:34

willitbe - so sorry to hear your sad news

firerise - I hope you get some answers today - so unfair that they didn't call you last night! Fingers and toes crossed for positive feedback today! [hugs]
